As I understand it, the process is simply to cancel the three-month subscription (you can do this via your account or by contacting Skype Customer Service). You will not lose your current Skype Number; it will be held for you for 90 days following the end of the current subscription term). Then, after the subscription expires, sign on to your account and renew your Skype Number for the term you wish. If you wish to cover the cost using Skype Credit, ensure there is enough credit on account prior to renewing.

As you know you intend to contact Customer Service, skip past Step 2 of the instruction where several articles from the FAQ library will appear for you to review, and proceed to Step 3, Continue Support Request (the "button" appears at the lower right corner of the website page). My Skype Number has a problem

I recently purchased a Skype number because I liked the idea that when I travel people don't have to dial a different number for me, as my number is forwarded via Skype. Or something like that...anyway, I asked a friend to call me and it did not work. I tried to call myself from my computer and it also did not work.
What is the problem here? Can anyone suggest a solution.
I am in the UK visiting from Colorado and therefore I purchased a Skype Denver number that everyone will get to call me. I need it for business and therefore cannot afford to miss any important calls. Please help as soon as you can.

ave you tried this.
First check that your privacy settings are set to ''Allow calls from anyone''.
Then change them to "Allow SkypeIn calls from Only people from my Contacts List".
Save and wait for 5 minutes.
Log out from your Skype account and log back in.
Change settings back to "Allow calls from Anyone".
Save and wait for 5 minutes.
Log out from your Skype account and log back in.

Hello, I have encountered difficulty with Skype number settings. I have purchased Skype number and assigned it to my existing Skype account. Though, decided to reassign the Skype number to another account. Is there a way to do that? Thank you.

Skype number connection problems

I have recently purchased a Skype number, but calls to this number are not connecting with my MacBook Pro. Instead callers are being asked to leave a voice message. My Skype number is registered in Australia but I am currently in The Netherlands and have a strong WIFI connection. Someone has told me I need a mobile phone connection as well in order for my Skype number to work, but I don't understand why this is necessary. One of the reasons I purchased a Skype number was to avoid the necessity for having to have a mobile phone connection as well. I would appreciate any help or suggestions available.

As long as you are signed on to Skype, it does not matter whether you are signed on using a data plan or WiFi. Please review this FAQ article to ensure that settings are correct as often a simple settings change does the trick:

If you are still not receiving calls to your Skype Number, then the next step is to please contact Skype Customer Service to request the number be tested.

Renewing number problem on Skype Account Website

I cannot lose my number, I use it for business and had it for years.
All of a sudden I get this message:

Nothing happens when I click settings, I've contacted support and they didnt help. I really cannot lose this number, its on business cards, advertisements, cars, etc. Support said to wait for it to expire, but last time I did that, someone stole my number.

Is there any way to receive SMS on a Skype number?

I just purchased a Skype number today and will be using Skype via the Skype app on my iPhone. I've set up voicemail and have already testing calling out to a regular number from my Skype app/number and having someone call in to my Skype number. It works great but the issue is with SMS texting.
I realize that although I have the $2.99 plan for unlimited US/Canada calling that it does not include SMS text messaging. I realized I need Skype credit for that so just purchased $10 of Skype credit. I see that it costs 11.2 cents to send an SMS text to a US based phone number. Here is the issue. If I read correctly you can only send an SMS text from a Skype number and there's no way you can receive a SMS text at a Skype number. Is this true? Since most of my communication is via SMS this means that Skype would be of very little use to me.
Is there any way you can have Skype forward incoming SMS texts to your regular cell phone number? Although this isn't my preference I realize people will try to send SMS texts to my Skype number. I don't want to forward voice calls to my cell # but if I'm able to forward SMS texts from my Skype number when they come in to my regular cell phone # this would solve that problem.

I would recommend testing the SMS reply forwarding to your mobile number. Depending upon the results and if this works for you, you could then contact Skype Customer Service to cancel and request a refund.
In other words, SMS will be received via your mobile number, not via your Skype Number.

Error message when extending skype number

Hi guys
Really hope someone can help me with this. Been dealing with skype chat and email support for hours and hours over last three days with absolutely no progress.
I have 8 skype numbers within my skype manager account and for some reason, one of them did not renew properly last week (the others renew every month or quarter). When I follow the steps to extend the number within the manager control panel (features, skype number, click on expired number, select "reactive number", pick monthly, quarterly or annual payments), I get the following message.
Service Unavailable
We're having technical problems. We're sorry for the inconvenience. Please try again after a few minutes.
The same message appears on IE, Firefox and Chrome. This is our main office number and its incredibly frustrating for us. If I try to extend via the individual skype account (rather than manager control manager) I either get an error message or a message saying "your request has been sent to your administrator"
Is there a solution out there? Is this a bug?

Having same problem. Spent one hour w/ Chat support, no joy. Anyone get this addressed, and if so, what did you have to do?

My skype number not working with new subscription

My 1st subscription was cancelled due to an expired credit card. Unable to update credit card info, I was forced to open a 2nd subscription. I need to connect my skype phone number to the 2nd subscription.

Additional information added: can the Skype number (formerly known as Online Number) be reached from a land or fixed line? If yes, can the number be reached from a mobile phone? If not, then the issue is different - the wireless carrier may not be recognizing the number.

Need to Immediately Deactivate a Skype Number

I purchased a Skype number that turns out to have been previously owned by a scam operation and is still receiving calls. I alreaday purchased a second Skype number to replace it, and canceled the first number.
The problem is that the first number is still active until the end of the subscription in 2015.
How can I deactivate this number immediately? I don't expect a refund, I just want it to go away now. I really don't want to shut down the entire Skype account and lose my Skype name just to deactivate a phone number.

My Skype number is not working. No sounds, No rin...

I really haven't needed it so I have not tried it in months. But, I tried to add this number to my paypal account and found it wasn't working. Then I tried to call it. No sounds at all. No ringing, no busy signal - nothing.
I will not post my number here as you should be able to see my number from my account.
Please fix asap.
