I have purchsed skype 3 months subscription for US number via credit card, payment is deducted from my card, yet the number is not working.
I tried using https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA10656/what-is-live-chat-support for support, but this link is also not working
Need help, please provide technical support number to talk to skype person

Skype does not provide a telephone call-in customer support facility. Please try again using a different web browser than you typically use. Here is a different link to the instruction on how to contact Skype Customer Service via their secure portal: Contact Customer Service
A few extra notes to guide you as you walk through the various steps:
You will need to proceed through each step, one at a time. Sign on to the Skype website as requested. Choose the subject and topic which most closely matches the item you need assistance with. Then, continue past Step 2 of the instruction where several articles from the FAQ library will appear for you to review, and proceed to Step 3, Continue Support Request (the blue "button" appears at the lower right corner of the website page). You may also skip through Step 4 where you will be referred back here to the Community; no need to do this as the Community is where you started. When you complete the webform and click Submit, your information is relayed to Skype and you will receive a reply via e-mail unless you are directed to start an instant message chat session with a Customer Service agent.
You are absolutely correct; you need to report a non-working Skype Number to Skype Customer Service as they have the tools to diagnose and resolve. Please post back if you continue to experience difficulty in reaching Skype Customer Service.

Hello community, I am a new member to Skype. I'm a bit confused about the fees and subscriptions. I was about to purchase my Skype number and once it got to the payment screen, I saw that it read, "Skype number, 3 month subcription, etc." So my question is, are the monthly subscription rate and Skype number separate fees?
Am I to pay for the Skype number AND minute package every 3 months, together?

A Skype Number is for you to receive inbound calls from your contacts. You can't make calls from one. Contracts are for either 3 or 12 months.
If you just want to make calls you don't need a Skype Number.
Calling Subscriptions are monthly with discounts for longer term commitments.

I am trying to renew my skype number and monthly subscription, but this time I am not receiving the discount that I normally see each quarter when I renew. Any thoughts?

It is because you don't have an active Skype subscription on your account.
Only ACTIVE subscription allows you to receive a discount on your Skype Number.

Skype number vs subscription

I want to call the US from my location outside the country and I want family members to be able to call me. Not everyone has SKYPE. Do I need to get both a skype number and a subscription? thanks

Answering your questions......
1. It would not be any cheaper if you established your Skype account in Australia, instead of New Zealand (or some other country). Skype's rates for calling phones are only concerned with the destination of your call, not where you are located, so the rates for calling New Zealand with Skype are the same if you are in Australia, the US, Europe, or even in New Zealand itself.
Also keep in mind that in most countries outside the US, Canada, and a handful of others, calling mobile phones is always more expensive than calling a standard landline phone. Skype can't avoid that reality, unfortunately.
2. Have you configured Call Forwarding for your Skype account? If you have Skype Credit or a subscription that covers calls to the number you would forward Skype calls to, you can have Skype forward calls you don't answer with your Skype program/app to a telephone number. This is something that can be configured by logging into your Skype account through the Skype web site, if you have any issues configuring this in the Skype program on your computer or Skype app on your mobile phone. Skype would bill forwarded calls at the same rates as calls you would make from your Skype program/app to the same telephone number.

Skype Number for the Channel Islands

I am new to Skype and am trying to get a Skype number but am unable to get one as I live in the Channel Islands, least it looks that way, is there anyway around this? I would like to use skype to contact my mum who lives in SA via Video maybe I do not need a number, sorry if all these statements seem rather random!

Hi, telephony in the Channel Islands is complex. The Channel Islands are part of the British Isles but not part of the UK (Isle of Man is same too).
These offshore islands still use the +44 UK internatinal prefix, but when phoning from the UK by either landline or mobile the calls are classified as international and a premium is applied. This charge is particularly hefty from mobile networks and can be as much as 70p/min (T-mobile). UK telecom providers no longer include calls to offshore islands in their UK inclusive call bundles, however Channel Island providers do include calls to the UK in their inclusive bundles.
The good thing about Skype is that it doesn't differentiate between offshore islands and the UK, you get charged for the same +44 rate which currently stands at 1.7p/min to landlines and 5.8p/min mobiles on PAYG. The rates are even better in bundles.
You have several choices, you can video chat with your mother in SA for free via Skype provided she's on Skype and is able to use a PC or mobile device. You could buy a UK Skype number for people to contact you on or you could buy a SA number on Skype so friends and family in SA could keep in touch with you at local call rates.
If you buy a Skype subscription (bundle of calls) first, you then get a 50% discount on a Skype number purchase which is well worthwhile.

A Skype Number is a different subscription from purchasing credit; you would have to check on the offerings available if credit is "bundled" with a Skype Number purchase or not. I do not believe it is. Credit is credit; there is no "discounted" rate. Check the Skype subscription website pages to see if purchasing a subscription could discount the cost of a Skype Number.

Your second two questions are related to Caller ID. More details about how this works can be found in this library of FAQ articles: https://support.skype.com/en/category/CALLER_IDENTIFICATION/
Caller ID is tricky; sometimes it works and sometimes the data does not get transmitted as the call is routed from Skype to one or more carriers before the call reaches its destination. For best success, be sure your Skype Number is set in your on-line account details as your Caller ID. What ultimately appears for the ID on the call recipient's side ultimately depends upon the carrier. For more details about this, check posts by Community contributor WD9EWK.
Since a Skype Number is a fixed line number, there is no indication that the number is a "Skype Number" or a "fixed line" number.

I would like to get a skype number and get a yearly subscription for unlimited calling to america. I understand that there is a discount for doing them together though I cant seem to find what it is and how much it will cost me monthly for such a plan.
Also am I correct that I can use the above plan with my smart phone?

You can get a discount when you purchase a Skype Number depending on which subscription duration you prefer. However, this may only happen if you have an active calling subscription during your purchase.
What you can do is to buy the calling subscription first to the country of your choice. Specific details including the price can be viewed here:

Just type the country you prefer on the search box and press Enter.
After a successful purchase, you may then buy a Skype Number next. You may get a 33% discount for a 3 month subscription and up to 50% discount for a 12 month subscription.

Active Subscription and Skype Number but unable to...

I had a an active subscription and Skype number since September 2012, but I am unable to receive calls. The reason I purchased any this is so that I could receive calls that have forwarded to my cell phone.
I have call forwarding activated. Before when I was just buying Skype credit monthly it forwarded perfectly.

Having same issue what to do now? Is anybody there to solve this problem.

I have a Skype number and 120 minutes UK for 3 months. Now I don’t remember how does this Skype number subscription work. I don’t remember the billing date and don’t understand from my account billing section. Today my 3 months UK minutes has been automatically got subscribed and also £10 credit on my account that I don’t want anymore. Now all i want is a Skype number with Unlimited International subscription. Have been trying with Skype customer chat service (support request) but every single time I click it asks me to sign in (even though I’m signed in) brings me to a page where it says at the moment it couldn’t bring the page up....have been doing this for last few months. That's why I disabled my payment option so when it ends I can get the new subscription I want. Few hours before I got an email stating that my subscription is canceled, warring it might affect my skype number (which is very important to me) as soon I enabled the payment option it made an automatic purchase of the old subscription. Now I can cancel the subscription but I don’t want to loose my Skype number, it happened to my once and I cannot afford it anymore. So, I wanted to discuss this with a customer service agent (chat or email) to sort out my issues.
I can't believe a world renowned brand has such an appalling customer service system.
Got stuck with this service, cannot leave for this number is been distributed everywhere in my business.
Any help would be appreciated.

3. Subscriptions aren't refundable. Cancel it at your account page. Cancellation is effective on the renewal date of your current billing cycle - February 19th 2015 - and you can use it until then.

So I'm new to Skype. I want a number so people without Skype can call me, and I want to be able to call them.
I signed up for "Skype Number + 12 month subscription" and I got the Skype number, but when I make an outgoing call it's still counting against the $10 in Skype credit I purchased earlier. Domestic call... actually just calling my home phone from Skype.
So I was just wondering why I didn't get the 12 month subscription and how that all works.

I ran into the same issue today. I purchased a year subscription for a Skype number last time. My account was set for auto renewal so my number didn't expire. I tried canceling this subscription and then purchasing a new one, but I couldn't get my existing number back. So, I reactivated my existing subscription. I also can't delete my payment method because it's tied to my US unlimited calling subscription.

This also happened to me. How do we go about changing it back, please?

I have a similar question to Fabrizio. I am setting up a small business. I primarily live in Australia but will be travelling a bit.
My understanding is that if I have a Skype number (which appears more professional and as if I have a land line), the caller will not be charged and that those charges will be charged to me.
Am I better to have a subscription and is there any difference in the call charges that are charged?
Also, if I understand correctly, if I travel to, say, Italy, often, I would get a Skype number for Italy. Both the Australian and the Italian Skype numbers would have country prefixes - is that correct?
