Skype number / Subscription confusion and frustrat...

Hi,
I signed up for a skype number two years ago and I've been using one since. During my first and second years, calls within the United States were included with the number. I just renewed and it and I can't make any calls within the United States so it seems like this is no longer the case. What exactly do you get with a Skype number, free incoming calls?
I'm pretty frustrated right now. If that is all you're offering with this service then it's been a waste of my money, because I could just forward my cell calls to my google talk account for FREE. So, please tell me what I've just paid for, how I can get my mobile and land line calls at no additional charge, and, if nothing else, how it can be refunded (yes I did read the fine print).

Hello Jeff and welcome to the Skype Community! I've just looked at your account and your calls are failing because you don't have a Subscription nor credit. Skype Numbers have been a standalone product for some time now.
1. A Skype Number is for your contacts to call you - inbound calls - irrespective of your location. It travels with you wherever you go. Skype Number
2. To make calls to or within the USA you need either an Unlimited USA/Canada Subscription or some credit. Skype subscription Buy Skype credit
3. Normally Skype Numbers aren't refundable but you can try by filing here:

I recommend that you always run the latest Skype version: Windows & Mac

Your topic title states that "Skype number subscription paid... says expired". Your account shows that this Subscription is current and will automatically renew on 05/1/15 unless canceled. Your Unlimited World Subscription is current and will also expire on 05/1/15. It will not renew automatically. Your Unlimited USA/Canada Subscription expired on 12/2/14 [that's why you see a "renew" message]. Your Skype Credit balance is current so you're in good shape to make calls. Sorry about the confusing statements on your account page. Hope this clarifies the situation.

Skype number subscription unwanted automatic renew...

it is inconvenient when a subcription lapses, one might beleive it cancels. not so, it will instead automatically renew without further authorization. i no longer need a skype number but wish to use the land and mobile call out feature so when i added skype credit, it was intended for calling out only and i feel i did not authorize a payment for the skype number, it just deducted my skype credit anyway. now i don't have enough money to pay for my call out script since no refunds are available.
perhaps skype can charge a correction fee and refund at least some of the unexpectedly deducted funds or cancel a script when it lapses? this would seem a friendlier approach.

i'm waiting for almost 2 weeks on my online Skype number subscription. It says: "Pending". What is going on there? If my number has not been activated for tomorrow, I will ask paypal to return the money and I will buy a phone at my own provider! Skype Support, skype live support.. nothing is working here. Grr.. I get almost regret registration with Skype. I hope someone can help me.

Howdy, in one of my Skype Numbers (I have two), there's a message that says:
"Your Skype Number subscription was cancelled. It will expire on November 9, 2013."
Then have the option of getting a new Skype Nr.
However, I didn't cancel that subscription and want to continue to use that number past that date. It's a US number.
How can I do that?
When I get a new Skype nr, I can get fairly close numbers, but not the same..

Ok, contacted customer support (CS) via chat and this is what I got:
CS: I suggest that you wait for this Online Number to expire for you to see an option to reactivate the Online Number.
Me: But I need to put this number out there for people to add in their contacts.
I need to be sure I'll be able to continue to use the number.
Are you telling me that for sure when the number expires I will be able to reactivate it and continue to use it?
CS: Don't worry once the number is expired it will still be on your account for 90 days.
Me: ok, tx. Any reason I can't extend it now?
CS: I apologize but there are some cases that extending an Online Number is available however, we suggest that you wait for this number to expire.
Basically, looks like I can only renew close or after expiration, which 1) doesn't make sense and 2) why does the error message saying my subscription was cancelled appear?
I guess I'll have to wait and see. Meanwhile, the number is working.

Re-Activate Skype Number subscription

How do I re-activate a Skype Number subscription that was cancelled. The subscription is set to expire in a month, however, I want it to continue. I've added a PayPal payment method next to the service, but the alert still shows that it will expire. Any ideas how to reactivate it?

In Skype, when we cancel a subscription, the subsription remains active until the end of its term. What we are actually cancelling is its renewal. Therefore, check your account settings to see when your Skype Number subscription's expiration date is - which, as I just explained, is not tied to the date you accidentally cancelled the renewal. Even so, your number will be held in reserve on your account for 90 days so you have time to sign on and reactivate the subscription.
When your Skype Number subscription expires, you should receive an e-mail alerting you to this. The next day, sign on to your account dashboard and reactivate the subscription.
Skype Customer Service can also help determine the status of your Skype Number subscription.

i have been using skype for five years and still have not figured out why it is so difficult to do business with these maniacs in luxemburg . i do not even know where luxemburg is . every month they attempt to charge my credit card $2.99 for the cost of a north american subscription . every month my bank blocks the charge because it came from europe . i have to have pre approval for all charges that originate outside of the usa . this is a bank policy which is meant to protect me from charges that look unusual . then skype -- without even contacting me first -- immediately cancels my subscription . i never know the exact date that skype will attempt to charge my account $2.99 . so i am never able to inform my bank when to permit a charge from luxemburg to go through my account . also it has never been clear to me whether or not i am supposed to pay $30.00 for my skype number each year . why doesn't skype make it more clear that i am supposed to pay for my skype number ? are they embarrassed that it cost $30.00 to buy a personal skype number on top of the $30 plus dollars that i pay for the subscription ? this would mean that skype is actually $60.00 or more per year . why doesn't skype just tell their customers that instead of pretending that everything is free ? why is there absolutely no way to directly communcate with anybody at skype and find out what i am supposed to pay ? skype is a world wide communications company that refuses to communicate with their own customers and keeps cutting their customers' phone off even when the customer has a subscription or paid personal skype number . can't they get somebody in the middle of the usa to answer the **bleep** phone !??

Try to reset all Skype settings.

Go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %temp%\skype and then press Enter or click the OK button. Delete the DbTemp folder.
Restart Skype.
N.B. If needed, you will still be able to re-establish your call and chat history. All data is still saved in the Skype_old folder.

I have a similar question to Fabrizio. I am setting up a small business. I primarily live in Australia but will be travelling a bit.
My understanding is that if I have a Skype number (which appears more professional and as if I have a land line), the caller will not be charged and that those charges will be charged to me.
Am I better to have a subscription and is there any difference in the call charges that are charged?
Also, if I understand correctly, if I travel to, say, Italy, often, I would get a Skype number for Italy. Both the Australian and the Italian Skype numbers would have country prefixes - is that correct?

Where is the link to extend Skype Number subscript...

Have you guys figured out where Skype hides the link to extend our subscriptions for fixed phone numbers?
I've been searching the message boards for about an hour now and all I can find are hundreds of other angry people trying to find the same answer.
What's the point in emailing me to renew my annual phone number subscription if Skype won't even provide a working link or instructions to do it? The only thing the email managed to do was remind me that it's time to deal with this --- again and put me in a bad mood again.
Does MagicJack hate their customers as much as Skype does? If not I'm outta here!

Please remember this: a Skype Number provides a fixed or land line number for people to use to call you, and you answer the call on Skype. In other words, incoming calls only.
You will need credit or a subscription to cover the cost of calls you make from Skype to fixed or land lines and mobile numbers.
Maybe the product names should not have been changed?!
Skype Number = Skype In
Calls to fixed lines and mobile numbers = Skype Out - credit or subscription needed.

My Skype number will expire, and it doesn't let me...

I got a notification that my Skype number will expire in 2 days because my credit card has expired, and that no further charges will occur. I updated my credit card information and then looked for a place to renew it. In my account where it shows me my phone number there is a "settings" button, but when I click on it, it just refreshes the page. There is another button to "Get another Skpe Number" but that only lets me get a new number. I want to renew my current number subscription because I don't want to lose that number, but there is no place to renew it, unless the "settings" button is the place, but that doesn't work. I thought it might be a browser or network issue, so I tried from FireFox and Chrome from two different networks and the button still just refreshes. So, I looked for a support email to email for support and don't see one.
Can any one help in directing me where I can renew my skype number before it expires?

Skype Number & Subscription....where's the subscri...

So I'm new to Skype. I want a number so people without Skype can call me, and I want to be able to call them.
I signed up for "Skype Number + 12 month subscription" and I got the Skype number, but when I make an outgoing call it's still counting against the $10 in Skype credit I purchased earlier. Domestic call... actually just calling my home phone from Skype.
So I was just wondering why I didn't get the 12 month subscription and how that all works.

You will need to contact Skype Customer Service directly to sort this. They should be able to determine why your subscription was not activated correctly and resolve the issue. Here is a link to the instruction on how to contact Skype Customer Service via their secure portal: Contact Customer Service
As you know you intend to contact Customer Service, skip past Step 2 of the instruction where several articles from the FAQ library will appear for you to review, and proceed to Step 3, Continue Support Request (the "button" appears at the lower right corner of the website page). You may also skip past in Step 4 where you will be referred back here to the Community; no need to do this as the Community is where you started.

I ran into the same issue today. I purchased a year subscription for a Skype number last time. My account was set for auto renewal so my number didn't expire. I tried canceling this subscription and then purchasing a new one, but I couldn't get my existing number back. So, I reactivated my existing subscription. I also can't delete my payment method because it's tied to my US unlimited calling subscription.

This also happened to me. How do we go about changing it back, please?
