Skype on Mac Randomly Freezes Up and I need to For...

Hello there! I have a Macbook pro OS X version 10.8.5 and I am having issues with it where I'd be on the line and sometimes it would just freeze up and the call would drop and I cannot do anything with Skype anymore but Force Quit it. Skype just literally stops working and I would have to force it down and restart it. It's been happening everyday for the past 3 days just recently.
Version 6.9 (517) Skype and it literally just happened again in a call. It says Application Not Responding on the dock and I've tried waiting nothing happens. I must force close it >< when I do it just disappears from my dock. After this happens I try to open it again but it says I have one already running and I must restart my laptop in order to get it to work again. What is the problem and what can I do? Thank you!

Buy an external USB hard drive and copy your data to it. Either that or burn them all to single or double layer DVDs (depending on amount of data you have). Or if it's really a small amount, consider putting it all on a USB memory stick.

If it's new, then it is under warranty. Please make a Genius Appointment and take it in for service. If it is a used computer then you need to provide more information. If your battery will not take a charge, then either the charger is not working or the battery needs to be replaced or both.

3 different errors:
1: "A disk read error occurred Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart"
2: Random freeze when using the pc
3: Can't find booting device or something
it's random .. sometimes working 1 hour and problem .. sometimes (like now) no problems 20 hours+

Touchpad randomly stops working and I need to disable/enable it in driver settings

My mouse touchpad sometimes (very often, actually) just stops working completely (no mouse movements, no clicks etc.), it's just completely dead, even both click buttons. What I then need to do in order to temporarily fix it is to go Synaptics Pointing Device (this window) and click "disable" and then "enable". This appearently re-enables my touchpad and everything works again for a while. This is becoming a big issue for me. If I don't have a external mouse present, the only way to fix the problem is to restart my laptop. I do have the right drivers installed. Latest version and windows 8.1 drivers. I even updated them with HP Support Assistant to make sure. And I also tried downloading them from here (Synaptics Mouse Driver version 18.1.24.4). Also, this happens completely randomly. Sometimes after 10min of usage, sometimes after a few hours. Also, I am not the one accidentaly disabling it (there is no orange light). Sometimes it even happens that the drivers aren't loaded when laptop turns on, so touchpad isn't working from the start and there's no way to enable it. So I need to restart laptop. How can I fix this?

I have. Multiple times. I even tried installing some older version drivers to see if it works. Currently, I can't get my touchpad to work at all. I'm using my external mouse. I-MAC G5 freezing up and becoming pixelated - RAM related?

I've been operating the iMAC G5 17inch 1.8 since Dec '05 and it has been nothing but awesome(I'm a PC convert). The computer only came with 256mb RAM so I decided to upgrade and ordered 2 gigs of RAM from Crucial at the end of July. I made sure I used their compatible analyzer before ordering. I installed both of the 1 gigs into each of the slots, put the computer back together and everything ran fast and fine. It was recognized immediately as having 2GB of RAM. Was looking good up until last week or so when my screen became pixelated and froze. At first I thought it was the computer waking up slow, but then it started happening more often. I spoke with apple support a few times and reset VRAM and PRAM and ran the AHT. The AHT took almost 2 hours and it said the memory was fine...but I'm still leaning twds this being a RAM issue. Has anyone else experienced this? Did I get bad RAM? Is there something else I should be looking at?

Frustration continues to build with this issue. Here are the steps I've taken so far in dealing with Apple's Product Specialists:
1) Reset PRAM and VRAM
2) Empty trash and Empty secure trash
3) Run AHT - successfully
4) Repair Disk - ok
5) Replaced RAM with new RAM (still experienced issue)
6) Re-installed Operating System - same issues arose
7) Created new Admin user id - same issue arose
8) Started up in Safe Mode - seemed to run ok
The computer always seems to run OK when it's up and running. It really becomes crippled when I wake it up from sleep. It freezes and I can't do anything about it...usually requires me to reboot.
Any other suggestions out there? Anyone else experience this behavior? Has my Hardrive blown up? Is there any sure fire way for me to pinpoint the issue or do I have to take my Mac to be serviced (would prefer not to, but may be the only solution).

Hey guys, when the Mac starts, when the spinning gear is shown, in some point the gear stop spinning. After a while, the screens flicks and the system stucks there so I have to do a forced shutdown.
1. Tried to do a Hardware Test but nothing happened.
2. Tried to do a Disk Utility from HD and nothing happened.
3. Cannot open the CD/DVD drive
4. Cannot boot from another partition or OS (spinning gear freezes).
5. If booting from Bootcamp, Screen LED flashes 3 times, then it pause, etc.
6. I can only start up the system in Safe Mode (but once there I don't have any idea of what to do).
7. I already did a Disk Utility scan and all seems to be okay.
This is going beyond tolerable. Any idea why is this happening? Any way to solve it?

Aaaargh, another large list of 3rd party startup items. I don't even recognize some of these. So it becomes a fishing expedition. Try removing the following items (mainly because some of them I don't recognize):

I recommend you clone your boot drive to another (backup) drive. Then boot from the clone to see if you can reproduce the failure. Then delete the stuff I listed above from the clone to see if it still fails. It's a lot easier to do it this way instead of having to worry about putting this stuff back later. Your choice of course.
I'm just fishing here as I said. Not all of those are causing your problem. But hopefully it might be one of them which would narrow down the search considerably.
Another thing, with so many 3rd party items installed, and hopefully you know what you installed, you should make sure all of them are compatible with Lion since I see you are using Lion in your sig.
Oh, almost forgot. Why items in these particular directories? Because this stuff is not executed when booting in safe mode. So the theory is that one of these items is what's causing your problem (or even an interaction between some of them) because you said it does boot in safe mode.
[Heh If I had to bet on choosing one of the items in the above list I would pick com.geekspiff.themepark.plist as my first suspect!]

Which MAC Pro graphics card and how much RAM for FCE HD usage?

I plan on purchasing a MAC Pro afer MacWorld Expo next month. Any recommendations for a specific graphics card that would complement my usage of Final Cut Express HD 3.5?
Also, should I increase my RAM? I currently use 2 gb of RAM on my G4. Will I see greater productivity if I bump it up to 4gb of RAM on the MAC Pro or will 2gb suffice which I had planned to increase it to from the standard 1gb supplied?

Any of the graphics cards that Apple sells for the Mac Pro will be fine. Personally, I'd suggest choosing one with at least 128MB video RAM, 256MB would be better.
2GB RAM in your Mac Pro will be more than enough for general purpose video editing. Going to 4GB will give you more oomph for RealTime effects and somewhat for rendering but you won't see a big difference in regard to capturing or general editing in the timeline.
