Skype Password not Microsoft Password

I am trying to change some account setting, and when skype asks for my password, it doesn't accept any of my passwords. So I went to reset the password, which linked me to the Microsoft Live account. I reset that password, went back to Skype, it still won't accept the password. Skype's password for it's settings on skype.com is not updating from Microsoft's site. This has been a problem for months. Any suggestions?

are you sure that you don't have TWO skype accounts? one with a normal user name, and one created using your micrsoft account. (have you tried logging in to skype using your microsoft account)?

Have Microsoft password but need SKYPE password to...

Hi It seems my skype account got hacked. as I have a strange email as main email in my account.
So I went on and changed my password ( Microsoft password) and wanted to updated and delete the wrong information in my skype account. But the skype system requires me to now log on with my SKYPE PASSWORT not my Microsoft password. But evidently I forgot it or the hacker changed it.
Creating a new account is not an option for me as I use the number for business and its on many handed out name cards.
How can I change my SKYPE password in this case?
How can I secure the money which is in the account?

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; this can be done by clicking here and picking a method, or if your country isn't listed, filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

Don't have Skype password, can't login

I'm trying to login to skype, I know my name but don't know the password. I clicked the button to recover the password which reset my Microsoft account password (?) Now I can log into my Microsoft account, but then it asks me for my Skype password to link the accounts which I don't have.
I tried to recover the SKYPE password a second time and it says that I can only do that once every 24 hours.
Help?

Every mail account has a password. So lets start at the beginning.
Have you added your account to Thunderbird?
Do you know the email password issued by your mail provider? If not ask them!

Cannot reset skype password

My Skype acc was compromised and I have two questions please:
1. where can I check my recent login info? ip, location, date and so on?
2. I am trying to reset my skype password. I have tried to reset it through my skype profile, there are two acc related to my acc - one is skype acc and another is my Microsoft acc(I have merged my skype acc with my microsoft acc years ago). I could not change my skype password because I could not remember my old password, I have been using my Microsoft acc to log in for years. I also tried to click "I have trouble log in" on the login window, but everytime it redirects me to microsoft password reset page!! Now I did reset my microsoft password, will the hacker still be able to log in with my skype username and password?
Please I need instruction to reset my skype password if they still could!
The whole reset process is so confusing and fraustrating!!!

Okay so I don't know what the hell is going on with this messed up useless system you have going on here, but I got locked out of skype for some insane reason since I didn't change my password (hell it stopped on autoload!). And when I go to get my password reset by sending the email to my linked account...
It resets my microsoft password!
Seriously WTF. They use different passwords! Why in the flaming hell would resetting my microsoft password help? If signing in with it that way worked, sure, but that option hasn't worked since it's been installed. Let me reset my damed skype password please for gods sake!

I have, over the past few weeks, requested a Skype password reset upwards of 30 times which never arrives to my Verizon email account (no it's not trapped in spam). Want to call Skype? You could contact iTS and ask for a hint on what your rescue email really is. You probably forgot.

In this case you should receive a mail with a link that open a page allowing you to pick the Skype account you want to recover the password for. Forgot my skype password

I forgot my skype password, and i know the email, when i go to the password token website, theres no name for the account i forgot password on, i got 4 accounts registered on that email and theres only 3 on that website, whats up with that?

Skype does not allow me to sign in using either of...

It has been a while since i've first encountered this problem, namely I cannot use my Microsoft accounts when booting Windows XP.
I have no problems when using Vista, Windows 7 or Linux, and I can sign in with my Microsoft account and use Skype as usual but I do have this issues with Windows XP. I can use my Skype name to sign in but I cannot use my Microsoft account to sign in under Windows XP. I always get the following message:
"Sorry, we don't recognize your sign in details .. Please check your Skype name and password, then try again..."
I suppose this has something to do with Microsoft end of support for Windows XP .. it is either this or maybe it has something to do with my present location --> Eastern Europe-Romania?

P.S. Please, don’t say that you are not using Internet Explorer. This is irrelevant. Skype depends on Internet Explorer.
Irrelevant to YOU, but ridiculous to me and all other users of skype that it is dependant on IE from now on!!!
short to tell. once upon a time skype was built it was independent software piece such way that it never needed IE or other certain www browser, also it did not annoyed with commercials, had much wider operating system support. After microsoft took over it went worse and worse.
at first the skype version 5 suddenly quit (on XP machine) in july. until then it worked fine and it never needed Internet Explorer to be installed.
still to me skype version 3.5 worked fine on even win98se (!!) until the end of august 2014. It was SEVEN YEARS!!! ALl other newer versions forced to be updated, but that version was good as there was no need for IE, and no need for updating! It was perfect just if needed for textchat and audio. There was no technical issues and all worked fine with both text and audio. While there was issues to newest skype users with internet worms or annoying commercials, I never had those problems.
However there is NO need to force for updates as the "newest quality experiences of modern skype" are just more than disaster!

What is now is complete disaster -- skype depends on IE (it never was in older versions such as 4.5). IE depends on windows XP atleast. and voila! complete dependency chain where user has no power about it, is much slower than ever, does not work anymore on older systems, forced updates policy.
Why f*ck everything has to be based on IE ?!??? It worked better without it.
so "thanks" for messing up again for another piece of great software!

I HAVE FOUND A FIX! Searching through the support blogs paid off in a big way. A minor registry edit is all it took and my drive is working like new! Here's the fix. My system is Windows 10 64-bit.  Resolution 5: Create a registry subkey
Note To use this method, you must be logged on to Windows as an administrator. If you need help verifying that you are an administrator, go tohttp://support.microsoft.com/gp/admin
Important Follow the steps in this section carefully. Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Before you modify it, back up the registry for restoration in case problems occur.
To create the registry subkey, follow these steps:
    Press the Windows logo key + R to open the Run box. (or right-click on windows icon in lower left corner)
    Type regedit in the Run box, then press Enter. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow
    In the navigation pane, locate the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi
    Right-click atapi, point to New, then click Key.
    Type Controller0, and then press Enter.

Old Skype account not accepting Windows Live Passw...

Hey guys,
I created my Skype account about 6 years ago with the email address which I'm still using today. Well, I bought a laptop with Windows 8.1, which asked me to create a Windows Live account, so I did. I also used the same email address for this. Somehow, my Skype account is now linked with this Windows Live account.
So, here's the problem I'm facing. I want to update my contact detail (adding phone number, adding a new primary email address). So, I open my browser, enter Skype.com, choose to login with my Windows Live account, and all is good up to this point. Upon updating my contact detail, it asks to type in my password to be "extra safe". The problem is, it is not recognizing my Windows Live password! I know for a fact what my password is because I use it everyday when I turn on my laptop. Also, I am able to log into my skype account with my Windows Live just fine, although I did not have to type anything in manually. Skype somehow automatically logs me in after clicking on "Sign in with my Windows Live" button. And, when I try to log into Skype manually with my email address, it's not recognizing my password there neither. Where is the disconnect?
What password is Skype asking me for when I am trying to update my profile?

This is happening to me too. Looks like the old skype password is not overwritten by the new Windows Live password.
