Skype: problems with birthday's alarms

In skype every time it informs me about a birthday of one of my contacts, the application turns off immediately. and i have to reopen it every time, but i can't use the chat with these contacts never again, otherwise it turns off again. I ask help to Skype assistance, but they couldn't help me. any idea?

Same problem.
Skype loads normally apparently.
I can see my contacts, everything looks good.
I then select a contact and click to start a call.
The animation starts as if its calling, but its not ringing.
The other party receives no call either
I press to end the call, no effect
Restart the computer, no effect
I go to end the task, there are 2 instances of skype running
The first one ends the GUI, but my web camera is still active
The second task can not be killed!
If I only kill the one task, loading skype again tells me that I am already logged in with this computer.
The "fix" mentioned about renaming the Skype folders in the appdata and temp directories is only temporary, and requires a reboot anyway.
Microsoft really needs to stop ignoring all these bugs and finally fix them. They keep spitting out new versions of this without first fixing the bugs of the previous versions.
I have similar issues with my Android phone, where I can not make or receive calls, and only receive texts, I can not send. Its getting tiresome.
I think I'm just gonna go with Jitsi to be honest, much more stable than Skype. Never had any problems with it, and you can have multiple video calls without paying. Just got to convice everyone else to do the same.

Skype problems with Airport Extreme after update

I use Skype to call regular phones and landlines. For over a year now it has worked well with my Airport Extreme, however, I noticed that around the same time I updated my Airport utility to 5.5.2 and Mac OS X update on 1/7/11 I am having problems with audio getting scrambled, the person on the other end dropping out, and my voice dropping out of their calls and the sound of me "being in a long tunnel," as they describe it. If I plug the ethernet directly into my computer there is no problem so I know it is the Airport base station.
I have tried plugging and unplugging the base station and I had comcast reset my cable modem but nothing seems to be working. I have 12 mbps internet so I know it is not a bandwidth problem.

Indeed I have the same problem. I ended up buying a new router because I thought mine was malfunctioning. After buying the latest generation Airport Extreme, turns out it's having the same problem. I agree that it was not a problem until 5.5.2. Also, I use YouSendIt constantly and it also chokes the Airport Extreme. It appears to happen in scenarios of high bandwidth usage.
5.5.3 maybe coming soon?

I have checked every possible move, not able to hear faMILY AT OTHER END,pressing echo sound test no response.I have spent many hours sitting here trying to resolve this issue with no success.

Reinstallation for IOS skype. problems with groups and contacts

I was having a problem with Skype on my Iphone; new messages wouldn't load, and if they did it was around 10 minutes after they sent them. So I uninstalled the app and then reinstalled it. As soon as I logged into my account I realized most of my contacts didn't have a profile picture, nor did it have our conversations. It also got rid of all my skype groups; I still got notifications for those groups, but if I clicked on them it would bring me to a page saying that it's an empty group. Also if I get on skype on my laptop everything is fine, I still have my groups, my contacts all have pictures and our conversations are still there. I tried to reinstall it on my phone again, but this time all my groups were still gone, but different contacts wern't complete. Because I still had the contacts I tried to send a message on of my contacts that didn't have a profile picture and although it said it sent, I never got a reply. So I got on my laptop and asked if he got it, and he said he didn't. Is anyone else haing this problem? If so do you know how to fix it? Thank you

Ok I just talked to support via chat and apparently this is a known iPhone mobile App issue. This is exactly what he said to me: "I was informed that this issue already have a ticket to our engineers and they are already working on this one. This has something to do with the latest version of Skype for tablets and mobiles. We may release another version of Skype app so once an update is avaialble, update the app on your phone ASAP." Hope this ease some frustration.

Skype Problem with recording device

After the windows 10 update it keeps saying "Problem with recording device" my camera works but, my microphone doesn't it worked fine before. The thing I use is a really old camera I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

Due to the age of the camera and lack of support from Creative your options are limited. I would suggest you connect the device directly to a free USB port on your machine. If you share it with several devices on a hub or extension the device can easily work intermittently. That type of issue can cause the audio to fail to be initialized, creating the problem. This can also occur if the audio half or both halves of the camera/cabling is intermittently failing as well. You have the option of switching to the generic Microsoft Video and Audio drivers to see if that helps as well. Below is a graphic on you how to update the drivers to the generic "USB Video Device". You can do the exact same thing for the audio half of the camera by updating it to "USB Audio Device" (which is what you might want to try first in this scenario).

when i try to add a birthday for a contacts for Year 1982 January, the date cannot be set. and it is stuck with 1 January 1982.

Skype problem with Norton

Dear All, Kindly be informed that I bought new Lap Top with "Norton" antivirus and I can't access my Skype account since that day although I can access it with the same username and password on my old PC. I gave it permission through "Norton" but it doesn't work, so please advice.

I had the same problem. I told Norton to add another firewall rule and navigated to the Skype Updater file. As soon as I told Norton to allow that file my Skype logged on fine.

Skype problems with Plasma 5.2

I have installed skype on Plasma 5.2, but the microphone doesn't work well, it's messed what can I do ? I have tried to launch PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60 skype. But it's the same problem.

First off, 10.5.2 is unlikely to be the main culprit to the unexpected quitting. Usually that's the result of corrupt data files, a hard drive that is too full, or a bad directory, or applications which haven't been tested with 10.5.2 that are driver specific. I have a Nokia E50 with last firmware (7.36.0.0). There is the birthday notification in calendar ??????????
In case with Nokia 7210 supernova, they little worked (before reboot). On Nokia E50 - NOT WORKING!

You have to remember another important thing - this is not just the 5800, the business orientated E90 has the same problem in recent firmware which wasn't there in the original firmware. I don't really think your argument about it not being a business centric phone applies either, Nokia have already given the 5800 the standard S60 client so clearly they've decided that despite it being music-centric, it should still have a mail client. And this is a bug, not a feature - it's quite simply stupid to only allow the phone to download every mail, it would make far more sense to be able to use the limit system they have in place, only download new mail or to allow the auto-update portion (which has the limit) to connect to the mailbox automatically. The current system is actually more complex than either of those as it actually goes and downloads everything, unfortunately it's an undesirable 'feature' as the phone simply cannot do it as it will keep downloading until it actually kills itself.

So here is how I got it fixed for my Mac OS X 10.9.5 and skype 6.19. I think Windows folks can follow a similar approach.
option 1 - Contact a live support agent via this link -
https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA10656/what-is-live-chat-support and have him/her remote login to your machine and fix it.
option 2 - Do-it-yourself
1) Try installing skype ver 6.15 (you need to find the executable over the internet or from skype-support) .. the usual steps to uninstall your current version and re-install the new version.
After installing ver 6.15, make sure in Skype -> Preferences, you don't check the "Always keep skype up to date" option.. or else it will go and install the latest version 6.19.
2) If it still doesn't work,
(i) Go to Finder window -> select 'Go' tab on top -> select 'Go to Folder' -> type '~/Library/Application Support/Skype/'
there you will find a file called "shared.xml". DELETE IT.
(ii) Go to Finder window -> select 'Go' tab on top -> select 'Go to Folder' -> type '/private/var/db'. There may be a file called "config.xml" or something similar. DELETE IT.
3) Even then it doesnt work, go back to Option 1 (contacting skype-support)

E4200 Problems with Chromecast interference

I have a E4200 ver1 and when my Chromecast is on I can't connect to the Internet. This is interesting because my computer is connected vie Ethernet, so technically the wireless chrome cast should not block the Internet connection but it does. It is definitely the Chromcast. I had a similar problem with my home alarm systems camera but that connected via Ethernet so I can see where there might be a problem. I have not been able to solve hat, so if you also happen to have advice with that I would appreciate help

What wireless modes are you using?
Ensure the SSID is different between 2.4 and 5Ghz.
Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N on 2.4Ghz and single mode N or Mixed on 5Ghz?
Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz or try 20Mhz only.
Try setting a manual Channel to a open or unused channel. 1, 6 or 11. 11 for single mode N if the channel is clear. 13 for EU regions. Try channel 48 or 149 on 5Ghz. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_WLAN_channels

Problem with 6233 birthday reminder: Technical pro...

The birthday reminder raises an alarm correctly on the date and time set. But once we exit the reminder it will again raises the past alarm daily once or twice, which is not at all desired. I think its a technical problem with nokia 6233 software. If not please anybody help me.

Is your friend on Windows XP and also seeing messages with timestamp in the future and frequent disconnect/reconnect?
