Skype rates

I am little bit confuse about the International calling rates of the skype. plz tell me is 0.7 cent means less than 1 cent or it's 7 cent . and 0.7 cent is also applicable on indian calling . and in the skype has any kind of indian unlimited calling scheme.

Hi and welcome to the Skype Community,
The Skype rates are only depending on the calling destination (in your case Suriname) regardless from where you are calling from. So simply look up Suriname on the Skype rates page and you have the information you are looking for www.skype.com/go/rates

I keep reading statements like "Cheap international calls".  Skype out rates for calls to cell phones in Netherlands are listed as 22.2 cent without tax. Regular land line to cell phone calls are charged  at around 8 cents by the largest operator in Netherlands, also ex tax. Cell to cell is even less expensive.
Are there other countries where Skype calls are so very much more expensive then locally offered? Why is Skype so expensive in this case?

  • Skype Rate Page is not working

When ever I use http://www.skype.com/en/rates/ and I enter a country in the  "Search for the country/region you want to call" input field and push the button, then nothing happens. I tried this with different browsers IE, Chrome, Firefox and logged in or not. Always the same effect. Friends have the same problem.
In the Console a error is shown:
who can tell me hao to get the rate information for India and if a subcription is available.

If I enter http://www.skype.com/en/rates/?country=IN then I see only:
and the message "You will not be able to call landlines or mobiles in India from Skype when you're inside India". But no rates at all. I located in germany and I did two calls to india (landline and mobile) both working and be charged with 0.011 €/min. But I see not rate info on the webpage
(independend of the browser). Even a refresh (F5) does not change anything.
When I use http://www.skype.com/en/rates/?country=DE then i even see no rates and no warning (like for india).
I have the effect on multible devices (windows PC, iPad, ...), so I belive it is not on my side and mor a web server topic.

  • Can I Use my SKype To Go Number in Different Count...

Hello, I live in Victoria, BC, Canada and have a skype to go (S2G) number to make international calls from my mobile phone (mainly to the USA).  I will soon be travelling to Maui, HI, USA and am wondering if, while I am in Hawaii, I can still use my S2G number in Hawaii to make local calls to businesses in Hawaii at the low skype rates?  Usually I would not use my phone (it would be left in airplane mode) because of high carrier roaming rates. Does S2G only work on wifi?
Or is the S2G number only valid when I'm making international calls from Canada to USA?
I guess I'm still a little confused on how the S2G number works and how rates are charged.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

  • What's with the rates?

I check the Skype rates page, it tells me that my call in Canada will cost 1.7 cents/min. But the Skype program says it's going to cost 2.3 cents/min. There are no options and it's the same for every area code. A quick test call should cost 1.7 cents + 3.6 cents connection fee, but instead it costs 9 cents. Somebody can't count here, xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

    Hello
Our rates page shows as follows and hasn't changed for years:
    http://www.skype.com/en/rates/#FR
Pay As You Go - Canada
    Calling - per minute1
    Canada
    2.3¢/min
1 A connection fee applies, unless otherwise indicated: 4.9¢
Your account shows that you were charged a total of 8 cents.
4.9 cents connection fee + 2.3 cents call charge = 7.2 cents rounded up to the nearest one cent = 8 cents. You were charged correctly and in accordance with our published rates.

  • How does charging work? What are the rates?

Just signed up for STG. Before I get going with it, just want to make sure I fully understand it.
    - I call the local number assigned to the out of country one
    - I'm charged local rates for the call (uses my normal cell minutes)
    - My Skype account is charged for the call - same rates as when I use the software?
    Thanks.

    Hello,
    1. Yes.
    2. No. Your Skype account is charged with the cost of the call at the prevailing Skype call rate to wherever you are calling. You can use either a Call Plan or Skype Credit.
    3. Yes.
Skype To Go number call costs break down into two parts:
    1. Operator costs
Dialing your Skype To Go number is a local call in most cases. This may be included in the free minutes you get
    from your operator.
    2. Skype costs
The call is charged at Skype's low rates, the same as when
calling phones from Skype on your computer.
Effectively - for the cost of accessing your local STG # (it may be free within your cellphone Plan) you have the freedom of calling
anywhere at Skype rates using your cellphone or landline.

  • Using Skype as call center

    Greeting to all
I am establishing a small business and I'm thinking of installing Skype as a call center service thus lowering my costs. Do anyone, by any chance. now if I can proceed with this idea or is it against the terms of use?
    Thank you in advance

Skype connect is the type of platform a "proper" call center would use.  They would have it integrated into a piece of 3rd party software like 3cx which acts like a PBX.  Note that skype connect rates are significantly higher than normal skype rates.
As for skype to skype, yeah I'm sure you will have no problem doing that as long as the recipient of your call has skype

  • Skype credit & unlimited world calling

    Hi,
I've subscribed for unlimited world calling free month and it was working great.
However it seems my Skype credit have been charged for the same and my skype credit is null now. When u try to make call using unlimited world call I couldn't make a call as it says you don't have credit balance.
I was in an impression to subscribe for this once my free month gets over, but since it makes me think that Skype credit is charged for the free call I have hesitation to make the subscription.
Could you make me understand the below
    1. What's the difference between Skype credit and Skype subscription
    2. Say if I subscribe to UWC for $13.99 do I need to buy a Skype credit separately to make calls?
    Thank you in advance.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    1.  Skype credit can be used to place calls to phone numbers reachable by the Skype network.
Skype subscriptions can be used to place phone calls at no cost assuming the number being dialed is covered by the subscription and your usage of the subscription doesn't violate Skype's terms of use or fair usage policy.  If you dial a number not covered by the plan or exceed your allotted usage (if minute based), then credit will be consumed.   Additionally Skype subscriptions do not cover calls to premium, shared-cost or non geographic numbers.  Those will revert to credit if dialed.  Be aware that many unlimited plans do NOT include mobiles.  Dialing a mobile when you have a landline subscription will consume credit.
    2.  As long as you make calls covered by the subscription then no credit will be consumed nor is credit required.  You can have a subscription with a zero credit balance.  If you attempt to make a call that requires credit, you will not be able to place the call.  If you are unsure what is covered by your subscription you need to revisit the terms of your subscription or keep your balance at zero credit (Auto-recharged disabled) to not incur additional costs.
This FAQ covers what is covered by that subscription.  Pay close attention to the landline and mobile part.  You can also refer to the Skype rates page and look at the pay as you go rates.  If an area code is listed as premium or shared cost for the country you are calling, it will not be covered by the subscription and it will request credit.

  • Skype credit & unlimited world calls seem not right

I bought a skype deal for World for 3 months. This says I could call USA and Canada mobile phones without any extra cost. I could also call landlines in Venezuela for the period without an extra cost.I attempted to call a mobile phone this morning and it said I dont have enough credit. What does it mean if it is clearly written on your page https://www.skype.com/en/rates/?nu=subs-calling that I could use same to call without any extra cost? I need to understand more. I cant make both out.Whats going on?

    Hello,
The prices are outdated as you suspected and are not necessarily from the United States. Skype call rates are to a specific country from anywhere in the world - the caller's location is irrelevant.
A comprehensive list isn't published anymore as it was accessed infrequently. Rates to individual countries calling from anywhere are available here.

  • Rates / Calling plans - from Philippines to USA

I may have posted this twice, but I have two users in the Philippines who will be calling USA numbers using Skype. I need to figure out how to purchase that calling plan - everything I've looked at so far has rates for calling FROM the US (since I have a US based IP address). Thanks,

    Hi Mikhail,
Did you figure out an answer? I have the same problem. I go to the Skype rates/plan page and it gives me various options depending on different 'calling to' locations but does not give me the ability to select a different 'calling from' location. I agree that it seems to be keying off of my IP address except that it defaults to prices in pounds for some reason even though I'm from Canada.

  • Unlimited World - can it be used for Russia landli...

    Hi, everyone.
I need to make calls from Australia to Russia landlines (NOT Moscow and NOT St.Petersburg).
I looked at Unlimited World subscription :
    Subscriptions > Calling landlines
Unlimited World - Calls are unlimited - AU$13.49/month
    Available countries : Russia.
It says Russia without mentioning any restrictions on which cities I will be calling.
I am saying it cause Russia is a very special country from call rates perspective, as quite often it has special (low) rates for the capital cities of Moscow St.Petersburg.
I will be calling to other cities, so I am a bit concerned if Unlimited World subscription will cover my calls.
Someone on this forum mentioned that it may not be covered by T&C for the plan itself does not say anything like that (or probably I failed to see it).
    Thank you.

According to the Skype rates page, the Unlimited world plan includes (both areas):
    Russia
    Russia(Moscow, St Petersburg)
So that seems to match up with the Unlimited Russia Subscription which is more expensive.  It would seem wise to stick with the Unlimited World plan even if you have no need for those two cities or the rest of the World plan (due to it being less expensive).
It breaks down the Pay As You Go rates like this:
     (AU)
    Calling - per minute 1
    excl. VAT
    Russia
    6.8¢
    Russia - Mobile
    11.5¢
    Russia - Moscow2

    Russia - St Petersburg2

That leads me to believe most everything should be covered EXCEPT for mobiles.  So unless there is something else unique or restrictive about the number, I don't see how it won't be covered.

sry i m new to skype

    Hi,
No need to be sorry, we'll gladly help you.
As you probably know by now, Skype to Skype calls are free of charge. If you call from your Skype account to another Skype account then you won't be charged.
Now, if you wish to call landlines or mobiles then you need either Skype Credit or a subscription.
If you purchase Skype Credit then each call will be charged based on Skype rates: http://www.skype.com/intl/en/prices/payg-rates/
Plus connection fee per call: http://www.skype.com/go/connectionfee
If you choose a subscription then you don't pay connection fee, but you can only call countries that are listed in your subscription: http://www.skype.com/go/subscriptions
Receiving calls is a different matter, if you wish to receive calls from landlines/mobiles then you can purchase an Online Number: https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA331/What-is-an-Online-Number
New Zealand also has Skype To Go number. Setting it up is free, but in order to cover calls you need again either Skype Credit or a subscription: https://support.skype.com/en-us/faq/FA1300/What-is-Skype-To-Go
I hope this helped a bit.
