Skype sent out contact request without permission?...

Alright so I contacted support over this and they just said they couldn't answer my question because they didn't know. I guess I'm not searching for answers anymore but just seeing if this has happened to anyone else or if someone can find some error I made to make this happen ... Thanks for your time in reading.
SO... Awhile back I deleted my ex from Skype and blocked him. I would like to mention I had him blocked numerous times but he could still send a contact request...... Anyways... I had him deleted and blocked and then three days ago, randomly out of NOWHERE... I look at my contacts and he's in them- saying that IVE sent a contact request to HIM.................... And it offered the option to resend it. I flipped out so hard because it really does make me look crazy if he got a contact request from me............ Out of nowhere ....
I can only hope it was a one sided thing and he never got the receiving end of that message. I had him blocked but nowhere in the chat near 'resend request' did it say 'this contact is blocked' as I seem to remember it doing before.
Ugh.. This situation had me so fearful that it would start like, spamming contact requests or later on doing something else because if Skype support can't explain it, then im just gonna just go ahead and say my account was possessed. To try and counter this, I deleted the account today and made a new one.
So yeah, anyone have any similar experience? ... Did I do something critically wrong that somehow did this? Is it possible /he/ was the one sending the request? (OFC that doesn't make sense because it was giving me the option to resend and saying it was pending.) also, if it's pending does that mean he hasn't accepted and the request was waiting there or could it be rejected and still say pending?

On restart of Skype I get contact request from a known contact

Hello allmighty Skype Community, A strange thing has happened with one of my contacts on Skype. This is a person I know and he has been on my contact list for years. A couple of weeks ago the following happened: Whenever I restart Skype I get a contact request from that person and no matter what I do (decline or accept), that person stays on my contact list and I get a new contact request. I asked my contact something has happened on his side, but he couldn't recall anything particular. Any ideas on how I should solve this?

It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
Delete the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

Today I had a new person added to my contacts list, (not recent conversations), that I did not approve. I have had people I don't know randomly request to be added but this is the first time where someone was added without my consent.
First off, I would like to report this individual since he has obviously circumvented Skype security features. He is soliciting his S. African business through his profile. How do I go about reporting this because aside from this forum on security I can't find a way to report on your website. I have read several other users post similar stories dating back a few years and I am surprised this is still an issue although I am grateful I have never had this happen before.

Applications uploading contact information without permission

I have a lot of information in my contact list - business and financial information as well as personal contacts. I also have a lot of IOS applications installed.
How do I have any idea what contact information has been sent over the internet by my applications? Could this be abused? This is a massive security hole.
There is a perception that the applications are secure following the IOS application review process. Does Apple prevent the stealing of contact information during this review?

I have the same issue with my ipad.
I was playing a game 'baccarat', and a screen poped open. It had a list of my contacts and asked me to invite them to download the app.
I wonder just how secure my contacts are if any app out there has access to them. (Facebook, Twitter...)
I have found 2 solutions:
1) Jailbreak, which I'm not sure how this can help, and NO THANKS.
2) Buy a secure contact app, with password protection.
I hope APPLE will fix this issue, and let the user decide which apps can have access to CONTACTS.

Email and Phone number added to contact list without permission?

Just discovered an email and phone number added to my contact list under my name and its not mine! How did this happen? Can't call Apple because my 90 days has expired and they won't answer the question without me paying!! So frustrating!! Hoping someone has an answer for me??

What is the full message of the notification ? If your phone number and email address were added to, for example, the Messages app on another device then you will need to go to that other device to remove them from it

I keep getting random messages from people I don't know even tho I have my privacy settings set to only friends can message and call me. Please help as it is irritating to get these messages! thanks!!

Contact Request name

I've sent a contact request to someone and she has asked me to resend it, but I can't because the request is still active and pending. It's occurred to me that a contact request may identify me by my Skype name, and she wouldn't know that was a request from me, because I used a nickname that friends know me by, but she wouldn't. She's a professional connection and knows me by my proper name. Do you know if contact requests are identified with the Skype name? I'm going to email her my user/skype name, in case that's the situation. But I'd like to know if my user/Skype name is what people see when I send a contact request. I may need to open a new account, because that name can't be changed. Obviously, I don't use Skype a lot.Thanks for any clarification!

UNWANTED SCAM CONTACT REQUESTS

PEOPLE SKYPE's acknowledgement of an ongoing problem and lack of action is total **bleep**.
At present any user can be sent a CONTACT REQUEST from any scammer, regardless of a user's privacy settings. This is WRONG, SHOULD NOT HAPPEN and is contrary to what we users expect of you SKYPE when they are CHARGING us for using SKYPE.
I don't want to be contacted by General **bleep**ing or his sister, do you understand me Skype admin ? Neither do any of the other users who've written and posted to this site : WITHOUT any action being taken by Skype to FIX THE PROLEM.
I am sick and tired and fed up of getting these contact requests, every single friggin day and having to delete them and block them. You do it, why should I ? STOP these scammers for once and for all.
Come on how much money does Microsoft have behind it, to do so ? now get rid of the scammers.

I never ever post on these forums! But this is getting simply ridiculous!
It used to just be General Napoleon-complex or whoever, and that was once or twice a month; I could live with that. Then it got to be random people at least once or twice a week. Then it built to at least one or two a day.
Today it was 5, and one of them was pure porn. ACK!!!! Totally not acceptable!!!
And I am required - note: REQUIRED!!! - to use Skype for work. Just how is one expected to use Skype for work when one is bombarded with useless, senseless requests, some of which are porn?
And what about our children, who also use Skype? I do believe that subjecting minors to porn is against the law. If you knowingly don't fix the problem and a minor is subjected to porn, that is a FELONY.
At this point, if you can't fix the problem, the result is going to be that we all start to use something else. Some of those inexpensive little webcams come with nice PRIVATE chat systems on a CD that you can install anywhere. Perhaps we should migrate to those, guaranteeing we only have people in our networks that we know - because they won't have the CD, and won't have our usernames, and someone won't allow them to find us.
Wake up, smell the coffee, and fix it, before you lose everyone. Or is that the idea?
Or does anyone from Skype or MS even read these?

I keep getting contact requests from unknown people

Ever since I created my skype account, which was a few months ago, I've been getting a bunch of contact requests from people claiming to be in the army, and wanting to hook up and date me? I have absolutely no idea who these people are or why this is happening, or if someone has put my skype name onto Craigslist or something like that. But, if anyone knows how, I would like to know how to make it so that people can't sent me contact requests, meaning that I would have to send them one, if possible. I had been getting a lot more contact requests from these supposed soldiers in the first month or so after creating my account. So if anyone has any ideas on how to fix this, that'd be great.

Hi, AvariciaX, and welcome to the Community!
Not in any particular order, try these pro-active tactics:
Check your privacy settings to ensure your account is set to receive calls and IM's from people on your contact list only. Remember to click Save if you make any adjustments. If you happen to sign on at another location or device, check the privacy settings immediately! I found this out when I signed on using a new operating system I am learning; much to my horror, my account privacy settings defaulted to settings I never leave "open" on my other locations.
Clear your profile of any details - scrub it clean. Leave all settings as "blank" or "not specified," particularly the Gender setting.
Post a bland, neutral picture or avatar rather than a snapshot or "selfie."
Remember to Block and Report as Abuse all of these rogue, unwanted contact requests. Ignoring them makes them go away temporarily; they will return and probably bring their so-called "friends" with them once they know they have a lead on a working, active Skype account name.
Despite the popularity of it, consider disassociating your Skype account from your FaceBook account.
You may also contact Skype Customer Service to request your account be removed from the search directory.

Contact Requests from Folks Already On List

So my Skype just automatically updated to the newest version, and for some reason, two of the folks on my contacts keep cropping up every time I sign in saying they've "sent a contact request." The thing is, I've had one on my list for about 3 years and the other since last month, nobody else is displaying this problem. I'll close the conversations and it'll prompt me to accept or decline their contact request. No matter what I click, they're still on my list (which is fine), but whenever I open up the conversation with them, they'll still apparently have a "pending contact request." It isn't impeding my ability to message them, which is nice, but it is interfering with my message notifications and it's just a hassle. Is there any way to resolve this? I've reset and even re-installed Skype to see if that fixed the problem, and nothing doing.

I'm having the same problem! I can't seem to find a way to get rid of it. It's just really annoying, but not hurting my ability to contact my friends and family.
