Skype Server IP Ranges

Good Day
Please could someone assist me, I have a firewall, and need to allow skype through.
I need to know the IP Ranges that the Skype servers use on the internet ?
Thanks

We also have the same question. We are conducting a GREP session to show the traffic going through our Ironport WSA, but there is so much traffic going by. Does anyone have documentation on this question?

  • Skype server IP address required

    Hi,
I need to use skype in a restricted ( Only certain ports are enabled) network. As per the current network settings, all skype service ports except 80 and 443 are disabled. So this cause even skype login is difficult. If I enable all ports above 1024 then skype works. But I can not use it as a permanent solution. I would like you to share me the skype server IP address and and the ports which use. So that I can create an additional policy in my UTM (Fortigate80C) by adding exception to skype ports and skyper server IPaddess/FQDN.

  • DHCP Server Address Range

    Hi there,
I was wondering if there was a way to change the built-in DHCP server address range from 192.168.1.x to, say, 192.168.0.x?  For example, when you change the router IP from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.0.1.  I noticed that when you commit such a change, the DHCP range does not update accordingly.  Any ideas?
    Thank you,
    Paul
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Your DHCP server range should update automatically to the 192.168.0.x  subnet when you change your "Local IP address" to 192.168.0.1.   Be sure to use a computer that is wired to your router when you do this.  Also, be sure to click on "Save Settings", then wait (3 to 60 seconds) for the screen to refresh.  You will likely be disconnected from the router when you do this.  Do not worry about this.  Power down the router and your computer.
Next, wait 30 seconds, then reboot router and computer.  Your Local IP address and the DHCP server range should now have the same subnet.

  • Windows 2008 DHCP Server Address Range and Exclusion Range

    Hi ,
I have a couple of Doubts regarding DHCp windows 2008  server
    1) The DHCP server  is given a static Ip in a network series eg(192.168.1.x)  starting Ip is 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.254  ,
and if the range is from 192.168.1.10 to 1.250 ,
Should the DHCP server be not given an Ip in the DHCP range specified ?
ie  the DHCP server static IP should not be in the 192.168.1.10-192.168.1.250 , ( I have given as 192.168.20.5)
Even though the Exclusion range can be specified , Just want to know if this is best practice.
    2) And next setting up the range , should we give the entire network address as range ( eg 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.254) and set exclusion range
or  take a particular series  (eg 192.168.10-100)
    Please advise
    Thanks in Advance

  • DHCP Server - Different Range for Wired and Wireless Network

We have DHCP setup on Windows Server 2012r2 and the range given to us by the main HQ is 10.65.112.1-10.65.112.254 (there are several exclusions under this range)
Now since the range gets exhausted quickly, they provided another one 10.65.122.1-10.65.122.254.
What our branch would love to do is to dedicate the first range for Wired Computers and the other range for Wireless Devices (Phone,Tablets, Mobiles)
Right now we have 2 different scopes setup in DHCP, the second one is disabled. In our network we have 6 access points and also have a CISCO SG300-52 Managed Switch. It has an inbuilt DHCP Server and also has the function for DHCP Relay. But we are not actually using any of its functionality as of now.
So my question is how to have 2 separate ranges for wired and wireless network. People have mentioned vlans but I have no clue on how to get that done.
Is there a simpler way avoding V-LANS or if not, would love to get step by step procedure on how to go about this. Any help will be much appreciated
    Regards,
    Sheldon

Hi Sheldon, please read this post
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/2270049
You will need some modifications though. Steps 1-6 is very relevant. On step 6, you need to pay particular close attention to the "default router". If the SX300 handles your intervlan routing then the default router needs to be the IP of your VLAN. If you have a different device to handle VLAN routing then the default router needs to be that IP address.

  • Check whether HTTP server supports "Range" request header

    Hi,
I'm trying to develop a multi-threaded download manager which downloads several parts of the file concurrently using the "Range" HTTP request header field. However, I find that it is possible for servers to ignore that field.
As per HTTP specs, checking the "Accept-Ranges" field doesn't seem to be very reliable. How do I check whether the HTTP server of the URL supports range requests. This is essential for both multi-threaded downloads and pausing and resuming downloads.

I suspect that the only reliable way would be via testing. Second most reliable would be via documentation for the site (but a poor second to the first.)
Then once you have the information put it in a configuration file so the app can use it.

  • Skype server in South East Asia/Singapore

    Hello,
we are checking out the use of Skype for our international calls, but our latency to sip.skype.com is average 240ms, much too high.
Is it our ISP (Singtel Elite 10mbit) or are there no skype servers in Singapore?
    Cheers,
    Fabian

    Hello Fabian,
I wouldn't think with a 10 mb Internet connection that you would have that much latency.  A good test is using Voxygen for network issues. You can go to the https:// tools . Voxygen . co . uk website and run their Skype test for complete comptability. It will point out any problems you my have in the network.
Also, if you are using a Router with a Firewall or a NAT device, make sure your ports 5060, 8000, and 8001 to 8020 are open in Both Directions using UDP.
If you're still having problems, please come into our Skype Enterprise Support Chat by logging into your Skype Manager and clicking on the Chat button in the top right of that screen and talking to us.  We're here 24/7 for your support.
    I hope this helps.

  • Adobe ID Server IP ranges?

We have around 200 schools all looking to start using Bluefire's ereader iOS app which utilises Adobe's DRM. The app requires activation with an Adobe ID. Unfortunately the vendor of the app has neglected to implement web proxy support. I have written to them and been told they know they need to do it but haven't bothered to set themselves a schedule. Seems utterly lazy as I suspect it isn't rocket science. I even sent them the link to the documentation on Apple's Developer web site. While we await this implementation I wanted to help the schools get on with their business by temporarily allowing direct access to the web services needed to get their ebooks. I've pinpointed the IP addresses of the actual ebook servers but the last roadblock is the initial Adobe ID activation of the app. I've tried to search for a page from Adobe showing the range of addresses they use but couldn't find one. Does anyone know what the best practice is here? Is there a specific range we can open up to allow Adobe ID authentication or is there another workaround for app which refuse to use web proxies?
    T.I.A.

This really isn't the venue for this question -- the "Forum comments" forum is intended for operational issues associated with the management of the Adobe Forums.
Though...I'm really not sure where you should be posting this.
In any event, I think the normal answer is you talk to your network administrator, and you instrument the device with a packet capture tool and determine what addresses it is trying to access, and then you look up the netblock at http://www.ra.net/query (or wherever) to figure out what the assigned range is, and then lather rinse repeat until it basically all works.

  • OS X Server 3.0 new setup -- best practices?

    Alright, here's what I'm after.
I'm setting up a completely new OS X Server 3.0 environment.  It's on a fairly new (1.5 year old) Mac Mini, plenty of RAM and disk space, etc.  This server will ONLY be used interally.  It will have a private IP address such as 192.168.1.205 which will be outside of my DHCP server's range (192.168.1.10 to .199) to prevent any IP conflicts.
I am using Apple's Thuderbolt-to-Ethernet dongle for the primary network connection.  The built-in NIC will be used strictly for a direct iSCSI connection to a brand new Drobo b800i storage device.
This machine will provide the following services, rougly in order of importance:
    1.  A Time Machine backup server for about 50 Macs running Maverics.
1a.  Those networked Macs will authenticate individually to this computer for the Time Machine service
1b.  This Server will get it's directory information from my primary server via LDAP/Open Directory
    2.  Caching server for the same network of computers
    3.  Serve a NetInstall image which is used to set up new computers when a new employee arrives
    4.  Maybe calendaring and contacts service, still considering that as a possibility
Can anyone tell me the recommended "best practices" for setting this up from scratch?  I've done it twice so far and have faced problems each time.  My most frequent problem, once it's set up and running, is with Time Machine Server.  With nearly 100 percent consistency, when I get Time Machine Server set up and running, I can't administer it.  After a few days, I'll try to look at it via the Server app.  About half the time, there'll be the expected green dot by "Time Machine" indicating it is running and other times it won't be there.  Regardless, when I click on Time Machine, I almost always get a blank screen simply saying "Loading."  On rare occasion I'll get this:
    Error Reading Settings
Service functionality and administration may be affected.
Click Continue to administer this service.
    Code: 0
Either way, sometimes if I wait long enough, I'll be able to see the Time Machine server setup, but not every time.  When I am able to see it, I'll have usability for a few minutes and then it kicks back to "Loading."
I do see this apparently relevant entry in the logs as seen by Console.app (happens every time I see the Loading screen):
servermgrd:  [71811] error in getAndLockContext: flock(servermgr_timemachine) FATAL time out
servermgrd:  [71811] process will force-quit to avoid deadlock
    com.apple.launchd: (com.apple.servermgrd[72081]) Exited with code: 1
If I fire up Terminal and run "sudo serveradmin fullstatus timemachine" it'll take as long as a minute or more and finally come back with:
    timemachine:command = "getState"
    timemachine:state = "RUNNING"
I've tried to do some digging on these issues and have been greeted with almost nothing to go on.  I've seen some rumblings about DNS settings, and here's what that looks like:
    sudo changeip -checkhostname
    Primary address = 192.168.1.205
    Current HostName = Time-Machine-Server.local
The DNS hostname is not available, please repair DNS and re-run this tool.
    dirserv:success = "success"
If DNS is a problem, I'm at a loss how to fix it.  I'm not going to have a hostname because this isn't on a public network.
I have similar issues with Caching, NetInstall, etc.
So clearly I'm doing something wrong.  I'm not upgrading, again, this is an entirely clean install.  I'm about ready to blow it away and start fresh again, but before I do, I'd greatly appreciate any insight from others on some "best practices" or an ordered list on the best way to get this thing up and running smoothy and reliably.

Everything in OS X is dependant on proper DNS.  You probably should start there.  It is the first service you should be configuring and it is the most important to keep right.  Don't configure any services until you have DNS straight.  In OS X, DNS really stands for Do Not Skip.
This may be your toughest decision.  Decide what name you want the machine to be.  You have two choices.
1: Buy a valid domain name and use it on your LAN devices.  You may not have a need now for use externally, but in the future when you use VPN, Profile Manager, or Web Services, at least you are prepared.  This method is called split horizon DNS.  Example would be apple.com.  Internally you may name the server tm.apple.com.  Then you may alias to it vpn.apple.com.  Externally, users can access the service via vpn.apple.com but tm.apple.com remains a private address only.
2: Create an invalid private domain name.  This will never route on the web so if you decide to host content for internal/external use, you may run into trouble, especially with services that require SSL certificates.  Examples might be ringsmuth.int or andy.priv.  These type of domains are non-routable and can result in issues of trust when communicating with other servers, but it is possible.
Once you have the name sorted out, you need to configure DNS.  If you are on a network with other servers, just have the DNS admin create an A and PTR record for you.  If this is your only server, then you need to configure and start the DNS service on Mavericks.  The DNS service is the best Apple has ever created.  A ton of power in a compact tool.  For your needs, you likely need to just hit the + button and fill out the New Device record.  Use a fully qualified host name in the first field and the IP address of your server (LAN address).  You did use a fixed IP address and disabled the wireless card, right?
Once you have DNS working, then you can start configuring your other services.  Time Machine should be pretty simple.  A share point will be created automatically for you.  But before you get here, I would encourage starting Open Directory.  Don't do that until DNS is right and you pass the sudo changeip -checkhostname test.

  • Skype won't install (WIndows)

I have used Skype many times in the past on other computers. Today I downloaded the install and have been trying to install it on a different home PC and it will not install. Every time, the install module launches no problem, the install starts, the progress bar moves, then eventually a message says "We are having problems connecting to the download server. To download an alternative installer for Skype, click "Download" button." I already have the installer (both versions -- the thin and the full version) and this is the result every time I try to install either one. Please help! Is this a Skype server issue? I am not having any other issues -- PC, connectivity, downloading, etc.

It's baaaack... I think the new version is up to 6.2 but not sure. I am getting the same message now. I downloaded the full setup twice through this and neither work. Why is it trying to connect to the Download server anyways, I already downloaded it! Edit: I see there are a lot of posts regarding this issue dating back more than a year. Personally I succeeded in installing Skype5.2 from an old installer I have. But I wanted to update to 6.2... and failed after several attempts. I am now attempting the Portable Apps Platform version which is a new concept for me but a very interesting one.
