Skype still work on iPad1

I am working on my mom ipad1 for her and setting up Skype for her to use while I am away in Europe.  The app worked on this maching last year but now when I open it, it closes itself.
I have tried various fixes, including deleting the app and re-installing... nothing works.  It is still closing the instant it has opened.
Does the lastest version work on ipad1?
Any suggestions much appreciated.

Not true.
You can still use the voice call feature of Skype. And iPad 1 will receive video call, but won't transmit video because of the absence of a camera.
My Fiancée and I Skype all of the time. She has my old, original iPad and  I have an iPad 3.
We either voice call/chat or I send her my video feed while we chat.
Skype works fine on the original iPad1.

  • Lost my ability to surf online wirelessly but Skype still works?

    Hi mac users,
I have been using my Airport Express happily for the last two weeks without any problems. Last night, however, I could not browse the internet. The strange thing is that my Skype still works. I have tries resetting my airport express but that did not solve my problem. I used network diagnostics but that did not work either.
Does anyone know what my problem could be?

Have Skype on my laptop, but have just bought a netbook to take away on holiday and thought it would be good to have Skype on it.  In fact, Skype is pre-loaded.  However cannot log in - doesn't recognise password.  Do not know what to do now! Skype still works well on my laptop.  Help please.

Do you have all Windows updates and updates to any hardware devices by the manufacturers? New computers are normally months behind on updates.
After checlking for updates. Please install the latest Skype release, just to see if this makes any difference on this new computer:
Before trying to isolate an issue, it's always best that one is running the latest Skype release. Which may in itself resolve the issue.
A new version has just been released September 1, 2011:
Please download/install this version from here, when prompted click the open or run button: http://download.skype.com/SkypeSetup.exe
This new version is 5.5.0.115 to check what version you have, using the main Skype client window please do:

  • IPhone 4 Microphone not not working on voice calls but voice memos, viber, skype & facetime work just fine!! Any suggestions?

    Hi Everyone,
I have encountered the following problem which I think a lot of other fellow iPhone users are also encountering however mine seems to be fairly pecuilar.
    Here's the issue;
When making or receiving voice calls via my network operator's service, no one can hear me, i.e my audio input.  I can hear the person on the other end of the phone fine but they can't hear me whatsoever.
However when I use the likes of viber, skype and facetime, my audio input is perferctly fine and the person on the other end of can hear me.
Note both viber and skype calls work just fine and 2 way communication is audbile regardless if I have a 3G or Wifi connection.  Plus I have full singal bar strength when near a mobile tower so that elimantes antenna issues.
Also have taken alternative turns to cover both the top mic and the bottom mic during a viber or skype call and my audio input can still be heard.
I've done a reset, a hard reset of the phone and a reset of the network settings, still to no avail.
Have updated iOS to the latest version 5.1.1
Any suggestions would be much appreciated?
    Thanks

I have the exact same problem, I have already restored the phone and it didn't work. The microphone works with facetime, skype and the voice memos. What just doesn't make sense is that when I use my earphone's microphone when calling, it doesn't work either. If it was a hardware problem the earphone's microphone would have worked I suppose.
This is the second iPhone 4 I have. The first one shut off after 9 months so I got a replacement phone. The replacement phone lasted 10 months when the microphone stopped working. I went to the apple store and they just couldn't give me a solution. They understood my situation and told me that it was very weird but all they could offer me was that I had to pay for a replacement. This is absolutely unjust, why do we costumers have to pay for the companies mistakes.

  • Safari and Skype stopped working simultaneously. Help!

    Hey,
I am a complete tech noob here, I'm going to try and express my problem in as general/simple a way as I can. If any advice can be written with the fact that I don't even know how to manually insert commands with my macbook in mind, I'd appreciate it!
I have a Macbook Pro using Mac OS X 10.6.5 (Now technically "updated" to 10.6.7. but with problems I will mention further on). I've only been using it for a year, and everything is in relatively good condition.
However, just last night I've encountered problems with Safari and Skype. Safari opens fine, and if I don't type anything into the URL box and hit enter, then I can do all the clickings such as checking my bookmarks, history, etc. But once I type a URL in and hit enter, it loads a bit and immediately freezes (with that rainbow swirly thing). With Skype, it lets me open, logs into the interface, and lasts as far as me being able to see all the users that are online/offline on my contact list before shutting down (not just freezing like Safari, but disappears with the error message popping up.) I managed to download and install skype again. This time, nothing goes wrong until I click on a user name and open up the window to begin typing. Then, instead of just shutting down, it freezes.
I have reset/shut down my laptop multiple times, and attempted to "reset" Safari, since a friend suggested that it might be some cookie problem. However, Safari freezes on me every time I attempt to make a reset. Since it's the default browser for mac, I can't make any software updates either (assuming that will fix anything that is).
The two long error messages I get after I force quit Skype and Safari seem to be similar. I don't know if it'll be helpful for me to post them here since they're so long...but this is what my friend commented:
"both safari and skype failing at the same time means something is going wrong with the OS system calls made by both applications. the stack traces you sent me also seem to suggest this. Firefox uses its own internal programming to do everything which is why it still works. Unfortunately I don't know enough about development on mac to give you an answer from stack traces.
my best guesses would be something wonky in your font configuration or possibly graphics subsystem, windowing toolkit, or filesystem. it's a long shot but try repairing permissions and check the filesystem on your main partition in disk utility. I notice the safari stack trace suggests a failure at 18 HTTPCookieStorage::lookupAndCopyCookies() "
I've already repaired permissions and verified my HD. Everything seems to be fine with my HD, but the problem persists.
Another friend suggested that it might be problems with a program(?) called "Webkit". How do I go about fixing that?
Does anyone have any idea what is wrong with my computer and how to go about fixing it? I don't remember downloading anything between the span of it working and malfunctioning so I'm dumbfolded.
    Addendum:
I installed the updates for 10.6.7 successfully (someone suggested I do this since my problem is an "internal" one). However, after the reset, the first thing that popped up after I logged back in was an error message saying "Softwareupdatechecker failed to open" or something like that. I think it opened and froze; hence the error message. That pretty much suggested that my Skype and Safari aren't fixed either (and they're not, still the same freezing problems).

    Here are the messages.

Options for when an iOS device gets locked because of forgotten passcode:
Restore (and reset passcode) on your device by connecting it to the last computer to which it was connected:
iTunes: Backing up, updating, and restoring iOS software - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
If you cannot connect it to the computer to which the device was last connected (or the device was never connected to a computer) you will have to use recovery mode to completely reset the device, losing all data:
iOS: Unable to update or restore - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808 - recovery mode (e.g., cannot connect to computer last used to sync device, iTunes still asks for a password)
If recovery does not work there's:
    DFU mode: http://osxdaily.com/2010/12/04/ipad-dfu-mode/

  • Apps not showing up in privacy settings, Skype not working

Skype was working okay, but today, when I tried to call someone from my phone, it said i had to allow skype to use the mic, but I had already done that. I still went to privacy settings, but no apps showed up there. But on the camera, while I had multiple apps that use it, none showed up either. In fact, tthe only privacy setting working right was location services!

    Hi SebaJK7,
Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, programs are not being listed in settings to use certain features. I would recommend that you read these articles, they may be helpful in troubleshooting your issue.

  • Skype stops working after attemping to make a call

    Hi,
Also my Skype  stops working, like many others, it has probably something to do with my graphiccard driver, but dont know which one I should download..
There I already tried to install different Skype Versions

    thanx in advance...

Hi this is Interesting and thank you for your support till now.
It has for sure to do with the screen resolution...after I unplugged it and rebooted everything worked fine. Now I connected the screen again and have set the resolution down to 1600x1024 and that also worked... after that I setted the resolution back to 1650x1050 and it still runs, also after a few reboots...
As soon as it will give some errors I will update to the latest skype and will do the same 'tricks' ... because I had skype 7.xxx installed before , without succes... lets see how long my skype runs properly

  • Why is skype not working with the io6 update?

My skpe app is no longer working since I updated to io6 on my iphone 4 and 4s. The app is still there but nothing happens when I try to call someone and when they try to call me I can't hear or see the attempt.
Skype is still working on my laptop.
    help??

Skype works fine on my iPhone 5 with iOS 6.1. Did you reinstall from the App Store or by syncing to your computer. Make sure you have the latest update to Skype. Consider contacting Skype for support.

  • When opening Firefox I get this message: Type Error: Components. classes ['@software.ru/skype/skypeFfentension;1'] is undefined. I have reinstalled Skype still have issue, Skype will not load, Firefox will ??

I started having this issue when I went to open Skype and it would not react and gave the message below. Then when I went back to firefox I got the above error message, which dissappears when I click OK and firefox will open. Skype still will not open.

That is a problem with the Skype extension.<br />
You will have to disable (uninstall) that extension if it isn't working properly.

  • Skype Stopped Working After AVG

Hello, Last night, AVG recommended that I install and use their clean-up tool.  I followed their instructions, and now cannot get Skype to work.  It consistently freezes and I have tried to follow instructions given by previous posts.  Here is my dxdiag.txt file.  Before the scan, Skype worked without any real issues for the last few months. Thank you in advance for your help. Sincerely,Josh

Try to reset all Skype settings. Quit Skype or use Windows Task Manager to kill any Skype.exe process. Go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %appdata% and then press Enter or click the OK button. The Windows File Explorer will pop up. There locate a folder named “Skype”. Rename this folder to something different, e.g. Skype_old. Next go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %temp%\skype and then press Enter or click the OK button. Delete the DbTemp folder. Restart Skype. N.B. If needed, you will still be able to re-establish your call and chat history. All data is still saved in the Skype_old folder.

  • Is the parrot ar drone 2.0 still working with ios devices?

I want to know if the parrot ar drone 2.0 is still working in ios devices after the update it had.

Yes it is working.  The app is free unless you have an iPhone 3gs or below, ipad1, or iPodTouch 3 or below.  Then you need to buy some third party app

  • Skype stopped working on my otherwise working Sams...

Skype worked well on my phone until a couple of weeks ago. Now, Skype still appears to open normally but when I place a call, the calling screen opens as usual, but closes almost immediately and goes to a blank screen that stays open for a few seconds then returns to the starting screen. I've done everything, re-installing Skype several times from several sites, rebooting, clearing cache and cookies, even resetting the phone to factory status, etc.
All other functions and apps on the phone work well. Normal calling using my service provider works well. I have now installed WePhone which also works well, though the reception is not so good as Skype. Skype also works well on my PC.
I attach a catlog taken during an unsuccessful call attempt. Any help gratefully accepted.

I should have put this in there, but I am using two different computers.  That's what seems so weird.  It's like the phone doesn't want to accept the sync cable.
