Skype switches off USB Headset on Android Lollipop

I have Android Lollipop on my Samsung S5. I connect my USB headset through a OTG cable to the USB slot, and calls work fine using the phone. But Skype refuses to use the headset. When I make a call, I can hear the ringing through the headset, but as soon as it connects, it switches to the phone earpiece, and only lets me switch to the speaker. It seems to forget that the headset is there once the call connects.

I've searched and found many USB problems on the forum but none that seem to match this one. I have one external USB device - an Epson Stylus Photo R300. With it switched off, the PC works fine. Switching the printer on everything stays ok and the printer works. However, when I switch the printer off, the PC almost grinds to a halt. After about 10-15 minutes performance comes back - keeping the printer off or switched back on, or removing the USB cable makes no obvious difference to this. With the printer switched back on I get an error message if I try to print
Using the sysinternals.com process viewer (I'm on Win ME) shows typically 98% idle. control/alt del shows nothing timed out.
The printer has built in SD /MMC memory card slots.- using the Windows system info tool the USB tab shows the following (before the printer is switched on for the first time)

After switching the printer off, the Epson composite device and storage device x 2 components remain reported for about 15 minutes (takes about 5mins just to refresh the system info window). Then the epson devices disappear - presumably timed out and performance is restored. If I switch the printer back on during this period or after (when performance is back) none of the Epson USB components are detected in system info USB window.
So it looks like the epson USB storage devices are not being shut down correctly and as a result cause the problem - but how do I fix this? I have the latest MSI and Epson drivers applied.

I see from other threads that my PSU ratings are too low (took advice from PC world 'expert'). What is the minimum acceptable/recommended?? my CPU is AMD running at 1333Meg. Using the MSI Core center application it reports CPU core -= 1.74v, 3.3v=3.3, 5v=5.13 and 12v=11.64

Thanks for the direction - I found the other thread and did some experimenting.. The root cause of the problem was that I had ULEAD Photo Explorer 8 installed and configured to automatically detect cameras - presumably switching off the printer caused ULEAD to slow down the PC as it was still 'detecting'. After disabling the automatic detection I can switch the printer on and off and on without problem (and it prints!)
I did do the following checks to get there and found (with ULEAD still set to automatically detect).......
It didn't matter if a memory card was inserted in the printer when it was switched on, but as soon as one was inserted the printer detected it as did Ulead (an annoyance).
Switching the printer off with a memory card still in meant everything worked - no slowdown
Switching the printer off with the memory card removed (or never inserted) caused the slowdown
I think this problem is probably relevant to any automatic memory card detector, but thanks for the help in getting to the fix.

IPod Nano (4th Generation) switches on when connected to USB power - shows Menu & hangs (unresponsive to click wheel) - deems off after 5-sec - Switches off after disconnecting from USB Power - syncs with iTunes - Tried 5R's - Problem still persists

1. The iPod Nano (4th Generation - 8GB) switches on, only when connected to USB power by showing apple logo and displays Menu options thereafter..
2. However, I can not access Menu as it is unresponsive to click wheel. As a result it is inaccessible to any further use,
3. NOTE: it displays "Battery Fully charged" icon on the screen without any "Lock" icon.
4. After 5-sec to 10-secs the screen deems off.. i.e. goes to sleep mode.. And thereafter would probably remain like that (sleeeping) for eternity!!!!
5. It Switches off after WITHOUT DISPLAYING any Apple Logo immediately after disconnecting from USB Power.
6. In other words, it can be switched on only through USB power in spite of battery being fully charged.
7. Interestingly, it syncs with iTunes. It is recognised in iTunes (Latest version 11+).. Displays on screen all commands Like.. syncronising, connecting, connected,
8. Allows to add Music, videos like a normal ipod & displays all status information in iTunes.
9. Read Trobleshooting & Tried all 5R's. Registered, Resetted, updated & Restored to iOS 1.0.2
10. It is now displaying to select Language in place of Menu options, with no access through click wheel, centre button whatsoever... Problem still persists

Since you have already tried all the normal troubleshooting solutions, take the iPod to your nearest Apple Store for a *proper diagnosis.* The staff there will be able to confirm if your problem is software or hardware _*at no cost to you.*_

My usb keyboard is no longer detected after the power was switched off

I sometimes relocate my Imac to another office and after the power has been switched off the computer no longer detects my usb keyboard.
This had happened several times now and sometimes it all of a sudden starts working again after a couple of hours (but it doesn't now).
The computer keeps searching for a wireless keyboard which I don't have. I have tried everything from switching off power again to reboothing, but nothing works. I have checked all USB ports with other devices and they all work. The problem is not the keyboard itself, because it does work when I plug it in to my MacBook.
Anyone recognize this?

Yes, to a blue tooth mouse only. I have tried disabling the blue tooth connection, but when i restart my computer it automatically connects again.
I got the keyboard to start working again now by pressing all the keys one by one (in order to discharge them, read that somewhere). I helped. But how annoying is that?!

Try and turn off iPad/iPod and proceed to step 3 of Recovery Mode.
Recovery Mode
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times.

HT201412 My iPhone 4S stops charging a few seconds after being connected to the USB, it will, however, charge when it is switched off.

HAve you tried using a different power chord? If the power chord is not the issue, it could be the power supply inside your mac.

[SOLVED] Switch all audio input/output to USB headset

Hi, I have a USB headset that I frequently plug/unplug from the computer. Is there a way to make it the default sound device when plugged, and automatically switch back to the motherboard's on-board audio device when unplugged?

I have an Intel HDA 5.1 internal audio card, and a 5.1 USB headset, using the modules snd_hda_intel and snd_usb_audio respectively. The internal card is set as card 0, and the usb headset is set as card 1.
I'm using ALSA right now, but I wouldn't have a problem switching to Pulseaudio if it's easier.
EDIT: I used pulseaudio and solved it for applications that are not already playing sound (not shown on pavucontrol's Playback tab)
I created a udev rule, which executes a script when card1 is inserted, since I know it is the USB sound device:
SUBSYSTEM=="sound", KERNEL=="card1", ACTION=="change", RUN+="/home/stavros/bin/pulse-ins.sh"
This script (pulse-ins.sh) executes another script as the current user:

pulse_insert_card.sh contains the following:

These 2 scripts and the udev rule automatically change pulseaudio's default output & mic input when the card is inserted. However, applications already playing music have to be switched manually through pavucontrol.
Sometimes, the card is incorrectly identified as "Analog Stereo Duplex", with no 5.1 option. In that case killing pulseaudio and letting it start again solves the problem.

Unable to Switch Off TP, USB Symbol Still Shows

I have accidentally unplugged the USB cable without properly eject the device in Windows Explorer. Now my Touchpad cannot be switched off and the big USB symbol is still displayed on the TP. Please help.

I have managed to turn it off now after reading some previous posts. Sorry for creating this redundant one.
Solution: Keep pressing on the "Power" button and "Center" button simultaneouslt until it shuts off.

USB WD Drive wont switch off when Mac Mini sleeps

Can anyone help. My WD USB drive remains powered when my mac mini sleeps. I have tried "switch off hard drives when possible" in the preferences but still no joy. Any advice?

Unfortunately the inability to sleep is a function of the drive itself. Which model WD drive? If it is a MyBook and you can return it I would suggest that you do so and get something else.

I'm looking for recommendations for a USB headset for VOIP services like Skype.
I want to avoid buying a headset which only works on a PC.
I assume that if it works on a 15 inch G4 it will

I bought a Logitech USB headset with mic. I have to say I have always liked Logitech equipment. However, this latest purchase has let me down. Currently, I can only hear out of 1 speaker on the headset and the mic quit working alltogether. I'm going to head to CompUSA and see what other options are available.

If the Restore doesn't work, force your iPad into Recovery Mode:
1. Turn off iPad
2. Connect USB cable to computer; leave the other end alone
3. Press and hold the Home button down and connect the docking end of cable to iPad
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect To iTune" screen
5. Release the Home button
6. Open iTune
7. You should see "iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode"
8. Use iTune to restore iPad
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad
