Skype theme

How do you change the theme in skype? It is to bright, and i need it dark. Though i found some explanations on google (tolls>general> choose a wallpaper to change how skype looks), they were for older versions of skype and are useless on the latest 5.9.0.123 version.

The Skype theme selection you were referring to didn't change any coloring, but only the window title display.
Right now there's no way to change the colors in Skype, you can change the chat font though via the menu "Tools -> Options -> IM & SMS -> IM appearance"

Jailed skype theme problem

I am able to run skype with the theme I like, but the problems is that I'd use skype from a special user (like in the wiki). When I run qtconfig with my skype user, I got this bunch of warnings:

Any help on how to change this setting with this particular user?
I tried to add skype account in different user groups (i.e. dbus, users), but with the same outcome.
Also I don't have path '/home/kleskjr/.config/pango/...'

Skype Themes, Skins, Etc.

I'm going to be completely honest and stir the pot by bringing up a topic that people before me have been incredibly passionate about, but who have received absolutely no reply from Microsoft about their genuine concerns and feelings.
As someone who used MSN/WLM, I became accustomed to using themes/skins/etc. to modify the colours of my messenger. I've always felt that blue, grey, and white are the most harsh colors on the eyes and while I understand it is the "theme" you're going with, it's an insult to everyone when Microsoft purchased Skype, destroyed WLM, and removed the capability to change their color schemes.
Why is it so hard to get a reasonable, informative response from Skype devs.? You not only ruined, but destroyed an aspect of WLM that made it exceptional. I think people deserve closure for you having killed one of the greatest messengers, with the most customization. Now we're stuck with a messenger as bright as the sun, and horribly unintuitive as far as customization goes.

Skype does not obey qgtkstyle

So I just installed Skype, but for some reason it came with a very odd theme, and it seems it forces itself to use this theme unless you override it.
I was able to override it and specify a different qt theme, but it won't work with GTK themes even though all other QT applications have no problem with qgtkstyle.
This works:
/usr/bin/skype --disable-cleanlooks -style Plastique
But these don't:
/usr/bin/skype --disable-cleanlooks -style GTK
/usr/bin/skype --disable-cleanlooks -style GTK+
I wouldn't be bothered so much by this if it weren't for the fact that I have a fairly unique theme—that really looks terrible with the default Skype theme or any other qt themes I know.
My GTK theme is MurrinaChrome. I thought it was a problem with it being a Murrina theme, but I tried other GTK themes, and they also do not work.
I notice lots of others can get GTK themes working with Skype.
Could anyone help me?

I said bin32-skype since the issue I experienced was with the 64bit, but since fixing it once it hasn't reoccurred. I don't use OSS, so I'm not sure if this will help with the skype-oss version, but I assume it's worth trying, but is the skype.conf file in /etc/dbus-1/system.d/?
*EDIT* I also noticed that the PKGBUILD for skype-oss seems to be out of date. I didn't have the issue with the new "beta" version of Skype, so maybe try updating the PKGBUILD and seeing if the error persists, although the package maintainer says he didn't see an oss version?
*EDIT* I'm not currently on my arch PC, but if you need, I'll post the locations of all skype files on my PC later on, if you think that may help you.

You have many solutions, you can FaceTime the individual if both users have access to Wi-Fi. You can also Skype them and use Video Chat.
Additionally, you may be wanting a Remote Camera type App. ReconBot is an App that allows for you to Set up an iOS device, configure Remote settings, and connect to the camera from another device (on the web). You can even start the recording from the web.

QT-7 Pro Registration Key Missing! Poor on-line help.

I paid.
The email came.
The Registration Key was missing from the mail.
Checked email source - nada.
Checked "Downloaded Software Purchases" page - nada
Combed Support pages - NO EMAIL SUPPORT FOR QT!
I'm currently in a country with no Apple Store or Apple phone support.
PLEASE someone tell me something I could do to recover this key...

Going by the international call charges in Sri Lanka, it may well be cheaper to pay afresh for a new Pro key! I guess I could Skype them and hope the nice person at the other end will be patient with the latency!
This QT Pro key issue is a glaring-thorn-in-the-side of Apple's well laid out web-store. I just can't understand why they would not have an auto-resend feature. But then again, the page that lists my purchase (its also supposed to display the Key) has only what I received in the email. No key. What's needed is a key-regeneration feature. From all the posts I have scrutinised on the topic, it seems that the transaction is being closed before key-generation, in some instances.
I did give them some feedback in their website feedback page, but Apple seems deaf all too often.

Contact list on multiple devices

Hello , I hope I find an answer to this, wasnt sure what "board" to select.,here goes....If I sign into Skype on a friends computer should/will all my contact list show on that device the same as my original installed place?

I am having the same difficulties. New to Skype and looking for very detailed steps how to fix:
1. Skype desktop works well on my laptop running Windows 7 BUT I had to re-friend contacts to Skype them. How to I get at my existing contact list?
2. Skype on my iPad mini running io7 same problem of not automatically showing my existing contact list. Also, menu seems incomplete but if anyone knows how to get an existing contact list onto this device would be my favored solution as this is the business device I'd like to use.

My ipod touch is telling me that the skype and twitter apps need updating. When I try to run them they fail. I have tried deleting the apps via itunes but it doesn't work and I have tried updating the apps via itunes and it says they are updated.

I have several aps that are loading for two months now. I am afraid to erase them. What do I di to let them finish reload? One of them, is Skype and if I delete it it says it will delete everything I have on Skype. Any suggestions?

Does anyone know how I can get four never ending loading aps that never finish loading? One of them is Skype. The other one is a gps ap for Spain.
I don't want to delete them and re install for fear of losing all. I already lost hundreds of photos and many aps when my son by accodent did a sinc to the cloud and all was lost, went nowehere. I have not done any more sincs since. I just wnat these ps to finsh loading on my phone since I wantto use skype again in my phone.

There is nothing wrong with the OS update.
Delete ALL your email accounts.
Restart Playbook
Put the accounts back and ensure they are all set with PUSH ON. Manual (push off) will burn battery.
Similarly delete your wifi connections and add back when required.
Turn off wifi is not connected to wifi.
Any "hunting for connection" in email or wifi will burn up battery.

I ought a iPod at Best Buy yesterday I loaded 4 acts from the App Store on to it. All 4 of the apps do not work today but they didn't work when I installed them. They are Dragon natural speaking Skype Facebook and Spotlity. none of them will open

I purchasedt an iPod touch from Best Buy yesterday. I loaded for apps from the App Store Dragon NaturallySpeaking Skype Spotify Facebook. All of these programs worked fine yesterday when I installed them. I start it up today I try to activate the icon and it looks like it's trying to open but does not all were of them have the exact same symptoms.

I'll guess that you're upgrading from Snow Leopard? You should be able to start using your original install dvd by inserting the disc and restarting while holding the C key. Run Disk Utility from your install disc and try to repair the drive. Then try the upgrade again.

Yes, I've tried that, but it basically tells me to uninstall QuickTime and iTunes, which is my biggest problem right now; I can't seem to uninstall them. I was finally able to update InstallShield (I think) and uninstall QuickTime and iTunes through the Control Panel, but I never did find any QT files under system32. When I tried to reinstall iTunes, I got the error message saying that the InstallScript engine on the machine is older than the version required to run this setup. But I'm pretty sure I did update InstallShield. There are about 20 different folders and files on my computer under InstallShield, and I don't understand how to tell which one is being used, and which I can delete. I followed the instructions from InstallShield, but that doesn't help me figure out which version I have. I'm also concerned that when I look on the Control Panel, there is nothing remaining for iTunes or QuickTime, but if I do a search, there are tons of files for both of them. But I'm afraid to start deleting things if I run the risk of deleting my music. So I don't know what my primary issue is at this point - uninstalling files, or updating InstallShield.
