Skype update 12th June has wrecked Google Chrome
Newish ASUS laptop, Windows 8.....GChrome working fine until an auto-update from Skype 12/6/15 - now, when I try to open GChrome, the Disk Usage shoots to 100% for about 5-10 minutes (freezing the laptop). If I access Task Manager and close ALL the GChrome apps (including those listed in "background apps", then the Disk Usage goes back to normal and the laptop functions fine.
OK, I could just use IE instead, as that browser doesn't cause any problems, but all my bookmarks are in GChrome, and the adblocker, so I'd like functionality back there if possible.
Any thoughts? It's definately just GChrome/Skype related, nothing to do with AV software or such like (as I've already uninstalled that & the problem persists)

Adobe reader update seem to come with Google chrome and toolbar I do not want these
I do not want bloody google chrome or their toolbar why do you keep attaching it to updates If I want these I wopuld ask. I have a brain and know what i wany and what I dont and staring to thing I would not buy any Adobe Products and would recomend that any of my members do not buy a product that try and mess your computer up by downloading things you do not want.
And also what pi me off is when you contact a company.
Yours BillyIt keeps getting attached because there are agreements between companies to support each other in this manner. You should be able to deselect the option to install if it is preselected.
It is an unfortunate practice considering the many people like yourself who object to it. But since you seem to be acutely aware of the practice, it should be less of a problem for you to remember to deselect it. -
What can I update this to and where can I get the software from?
Google Chrome only runs on Intel based Macs.
PPC based Macs like the G5 can only be upgraded to run Leopard 10.5.8. Apple no longer supply it, so look in Amazon or eBay for a black retail install disk. Don't be surprised if you see a pricetag of around $200. -

To be honest I cannot understand why webcam device disappears from device manager list after skype update.
I mean even if there would be a software problem (compatibility issues), the webcam should be listed in device manager even as an unknown device.
However, by default, certain devices are not shown in the list. To include hidden devices in Device Manager display, click View and select Show Hidden Devices.
However, I assume you are using Win 7 system.

On Toshiba EU driver page you can find the webcam software.
Maybe new Skype version damage something in registry. Would recommend uninstalling the Skype firstly. Download and install the repair tool like CCleaner. Clean registry and reboot the notebook. Now try to install the webcam software once again. Reboot the unit and check if you can use the webcam using installed webcam too. -

Is anybody else sick of uninstalling Google Chrome following an Adobe update.
I own a number of Adobe products (Photoshop, Dreamweaver, etc.) and every time I update I end up with Google Chrome. I resent any software that is aggressive as Google. I don't like it and I don't want it. Apparently, you have no choice. It just installs whenever Adobe updates a product.
Anybody else sick and tired of the abuse and disrespect of their time?
Just sign me "tired of being abused."You get Chrome when you update Photoshop or Dreamweaver? That is strange, as the products update inside the Adobe Application Manager.
Or you get Chrome when you update Flash Player? If so, uncheck it on the download page

I created a blog post in Chrome and saved it as a draft. worked fine. Now each time I update the post and try to save it (update) or save a draft, nothing happens in Google's Chrome. works well in Safari and Firefox on a Mac.

CheersJust installed the iTunes update & now the same is happening to me. Until the update I had no problems with iTunes opening up when I clicked on "View in iTunes" buttons in Google Chrome. After reading the OP, I decided to try in Internet Explorer and it worked fine. Apparently, the update doesn't agree with Google Chrome. *sighs*

How do I remove google chrome from my IPAD air
I have a pop-up ad for Battery Doctor that has frozen google chrome. I do not want to click on the "OK" link on the ad. The url associated with the ad is http://secureandroid.mobi, which does not work. Is there a way to remove google chrome?
Give your device a reset. Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds. You'll see a silver apple. Let go of the buttons and let it reboot. Then once it restarts, to delete chrome, you can hold your finger down on that icon until they all start to wiggle. you'll see a white X in a red circle.. Tap on that and follow the prompts and you can delete chrome.
But if you don't want to delete it, you can go into the settings and see if you can remove chrome's history and cache, which should remove that popup that's bugging you. -
Google Chrome and Skype Won't Start / Crashing After 10.9.2 Update
I installed 10.9.2 today and am unable to start Google Chrome, Google Chrome Canary, or Skype. All 3 of them seem to be failling on the same piece of code ("FillInSystemVersionInfoFromString"). Has anyone else seen this issue? Could it be related to some other conflicting software? I don't see the issue with any other installed applications, and the same thing happens when I try starting the apps from a brand new user account. I also already tried to re-seat the 4 RAM sticks, no dice.

After performing the OS X 10.10.2 update, OpenGL applications, for example Starry Night Pro fail to run, there are numerous windows update/refresh problems (incomplete refresh, remnants of window/frame borders), and some applications, for example Google Chrome are unusable, as cursor motion in the application window causes the display to flash horizontal bars in the window.
I've tried a variety of things, including downloading the most current release of Xcode, turning on/off transparency in Accessibility, graphics switching, and a few other things, but the problem persists.

Being prompted to update Flash, ignore? v11.2.202.228 and v11.2.202.229 Google Chrome
Just prompted by Adobe that an upgrade to Adobe Flash Player is available – within the bullets say includes security enhancements.
Two weeks ago I was made aware that there were security vulnerabilities with Flash. My laptop was infected (3/26). One of the recommendations from my anti-virus software company was to keep all Adobe products updated, especially Flash. Also, I was given the recommendation to consider choosing a less common browser than IE; he used Google Chrome which has its own security features. I had used Chrome once before when it was beta but downloaded the new Chrome, set security settings and testing it out. A few days later, someone I know also in the IS community said their company (a large international company) is uninstalling all Adobe products from all of their employee computers completely.
In reading the Developer Release Notes, this upgrade is for v11.2.202.228.
The Adobe Flash website section detects I have v11.2.202.229 installed. The latest version listed underneath was .228. I questioned how I could have a newer, higher number, version if .228 is the latest release? This was odd, needed an answer and to verify I was current.
In reading the Security Bulletin, it says… “These priority 2 updates address critical vulnerabilities in Adobe Flash Player 11.1.102.63 and earlier versions for Windows, Macintosh, Linux and Solaris, and Adobe Flash Player 11.1.111.7 and earlier versions for Android 3.x and 2.x. These vulnerabilities could cause a crash and potentially allow an attacker to take control of the affected system… … …Adobe recommends users of Adobe Flash Player 11.1.102.63 and earlier versions for Windows, Macintosh and Linux update to Adobe Flash Player 11.2.202.228 … … ...can install the update via the update mechanism within the product when prompted. Google Chrome will be updated automatically, so no user action is required. Google Chrome users can verify that they have updated to Google Chrome version 18.0.1025.151, which includes Adobe Flash Player 11.2.202.229.”
This answered my question. I am current…and then I found an Adobe forum thread asking if 11.2.202.229 files installed in the correct place. I am deducing from the bulletin that the v.229 is designed with content or files specific for Google Chrome. And I am also deducing I was prompted that a new update is available because Flash Auto Update is looking for any version other than or is “not v.228” and not looking for “both v.228 AND v.229 files” on one’s computer? Concluding that I should ignore this prompt, check “do not remind me about this update” now and in the future if using Chrome [but I would still always need to verify Flash has been updated on my computer or verify I have the latest version of Google Chrome, before ignoring]? And if I do choose not to continue using Google Chrome (uninstall), I should then resume with manual updates. Please provide feedback.
If true, my recommendation to Adobe would be to design the Flash Auto Update to search for *all* versions related to the latest release to avoid a false prompt from appearing and/or *also include within the text of the standard Auto-update prompt’s window the same verbiage as within the Security Bulletin (which is not normally read by users) regarding Google Chrome, directing that no user action is required. It may or may not be harmful for someone to proceed with installing v.228 when they already have v.229… meanting it may not delete or replace any important files specific to Google Chrome and protecting against security vulnerability as it might be that .229 may only have a few additional files. *Another recommendation would be that both the .228 and .229 v for Google Chrome be listed as the latest release on Adobe Flash website page and release content. This may have been a timing issue. Google/Adobe might want to re-consider the timing/order in which they deploy their versions or re-consider the auto-update feature within Google Chrome all in itself to avoid confusion, avoid the need to then verify it anyway afterwards (an added step in itself) and avoid Google Chrome users that are completely unaware of this and what action to take, from updating to a different incompatible version that could possibly conflict with the requirements of Google Chrome or its security. However, everything would be resolved by the first recommendation. I did wonder why I just got prompted today for a release on March 28th, but luckily it looks like I have the latest version. And I did find it interesting how I noticed underneath the install for Adobe AIR that you may have to disable your anti-virus before installing.
I look forward to your feedback to my question confirming whether or not I should just to ignore this update. In effort to prevent PCs from future attacks, I provided my feedback and recommendations. Chrome was installed after 3/26. I am guessing these are for Active X for IE and they don’t look like the latest version. As I mentioned, when I checked with Adobe to see what version is running on my system it only displays the latest version for Google Chrome which is a current one. So one (a user) wouldn’t know of the other versions that need to be updated. You are correct that I thought there was only one version on my system. Thanks for informing me, I didn’t even search or think of that. If I forcefully download the update anyway, will it update both of these directories?
Also when you say, “Manually downloading or updating Flash Player from Adobe will not affect Chrome's installation of Flash Player.” I realize moving forward it wouldn’t affect future Chrome installs but did you also mean downloading .228 when I have .229 will not affect this currently the installed version?..…if built-in, does Google Chrome store any files on my system or is it completely built-in? -
My hard drive has 70.93 GB available, yet when i have more than one internet tab open, i have to force quit google chrome because 'there is no more available application memory'. How can I solve this? I have a 2009 macbook pro running on 10.6.8. I have tried updating to mavericks through the mac app store but after it downloading for a day i got an error message saying there was a problem with the download. The same thing happens if i try to update itunes or the mac app store. After research, i have also tried repairing disk permissions, but every time they do get repaired the 'repair' button still appears, i'm not sure if it's because it was unable to repair the initial problems or if it just keeps detecting new ones.
2 GBs is a minimum in which you can do many things, but not concurrently. Be very careful to not install third-party add-ons, limit the number of applications you choose to enter in Login Items, run as few applications concurrently as you demand.
I would consider adding more RAM to your computer. Your model supports 8 GBs, so I would install that. -
Just done a replacement of the pata DVD drive (its new and is working ok), and a fresh clean install of Snow Leopard with all updates, iMac 5.1 behaves strange, sometimes I start Google Chrome and look at youtube videos the computer freezes and shuts down immediately,
I believe its related to overheating ?
iStat Pro shows GPU diode temp at 66 C, CPU at 48 C, Fan rpms is around 1000
Any ideas somebody ?

from a time machine partition.
TimeMachine is only a backup and restore, it won't fix issues in software and according to your information, doesn't even optimize the restore for best performance on boot hard drives.

There shouldn't be need to reinstall OS X fresh unless your having file structure issues which if they are should appear when in the Steps, which then a zero erase and install will cure as well as any bad sector issues, the defrag step wouldn't be necessarry on a freshly installed system obviously as the files are written all together, not in portions all over the drive.
