Hi,
I wonder if any one here would be able to help/advise me or point me to the correct person for support?
I work in a FE College - we would like out learners to use skype to complete one of their modules - the module to complete is to connect to another learner in a two way communication voice and video.
I am aware that Skype is free - but do we need to purchase a different version for use in a College? This is not being used to make business calls just for learners to demonstrate their ability to setup a communication channel.
Please advise.

Hi Chris,
If you just wish to make voice or video calls from one Skype account to another then you don't need to make any payments.
You don't need a different version for using Skype in college.

So, lately, I switched the hard drives in my computer to migrate from Windows XP and install Windows Vista to my machine, everything was going alright with my machine, until I decided to install Skype, as it's the main communications line with me and the internet, and I noticed it now takes up pretty much all of my CPU and hard disk resources when loading all of my contacts and messages after installation, but it finished loading them, and it still uses a high amount of my resources. Skype uses approximately 250MB of memory (Which is kind of high on a system like mine..), it maxes out the processor at around 95-100% utilization, and the hard drive light is on full, as I hear the read head spazzing out on the thing anyways. I was wondering, is this an issue with the latest version of Skype? I can't use older versions since Skype/Microsoft decommissioned them, and it won't even let me log in to them. Could someone possibly help me with this?
My machine specifications are as of follows if it has anything to do with the issue.:

I am trying to use an education program that needs Java applets to install and use and it will not use Safari. When I download IE from the web it will not install. How can I get a browser that will work on my MacAir for travel use of this program?

Try using FireFox. IE will only run on a Mac if you run Windows on the Mac.

I've tried several pass codes and now am locked out for an hour after being locked out for 5 minutes and then 15 minutes. It said that I had tried 7 pass codes prior to these, but I don't remember ever trying to get into restrictions before.
I've looked up other posts on this, and my phone was purchased in the US and does not have an AE in the model number.

As far as I understand what you are asking for I would suggest 4 data dictionaries that will help you to know the table name from the column names
1. USER_TAB_COLS
2. ALL_TAB_COLS
3. DBA_TAB_COLS
4. COLS
These can give you detail information about the columns and respective tables at user, schema, dba level. Further information on the table can be found by querying ALL_OBJECTS table giving table_name as Object_name, or you can join the data dictionaries too.
To know about various data dictionaries avalible in Oracle please query select * from cat;

I have 3 subscriptions - unlimited world, UK 60 minutes,and Thailand 60 minutes. Skype seems to have started to use unlimited World first, even when I am phoning UK or Thailand, which means that sometimes if I want to call other countries in the world subscription I have no spare minutes left. It would make more sense if Skype used the UK subscription when I am calling the UK and the Thailand Subscription when I am calling Thailand - but this isn't what is happening. Any advice please? Thanks, (My fault, as I should have specified this.) Due to legacy reasons I need to use ie, and so I can't use the PrintPdf firefox plugin. So from reading the rest of that thread, the best method does seem to be to get hold of a copy of acrobat, and add a Print() script in each file, and open it in a new tab.
At least it gives me somethigin to try anyway :-)

Is what you're saying that you only want backups in TM of the state of your Mac from January 2015 to the current date and nothing before then? I'd think the simplest solution would just be to delete in TM all the backups prior to 1/15 and then let TM do its thing. The ultimate source for all things Time Machine is here. On this page, note the comment that "Time Machine will never delete the backup copy of anything that was on the disk being backed-up at the time of any remaining backup" which I understand to mean that if you delete all the backups in the TM file prior to 1/15, any file that wasn't present on your Mac as of 1/15 will no longer be represented in the TM file. Note that the second link also has instructions for how to delete TM files.
If you were trying to accomplish something else, then as Emily Litella (Gilda Radner in SNL) used to say, "never mind."

Skype using High levels of RAM over time

So recently i've noticed that Skype has been using increased levels of RAM over time. Before i think 7.1 it sat at a steady 170k or lower but since the recent update, it seems to scale all the way up to nearly using 80% of my RAM after being on for an hour. Is there a reason this happens or is it a memory leak issue?

For my situation, with Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, with 8 GB of RAM available, Skype use randomly from 400 Mb to 1.5 Gb of Ram slowing down all the PC..
I have to kill the Skype process for working well.
My SKYPE version is 7.3.0.101.
I need to resolve this problem (and, from my point of view, uninstall the newest version and install the older one is not a solution)

In older versions of iChat there is a setting in iChat > Preferences > Video that enables the App to Start when an External camera is plugged in.
This can be unticked to stop this action launching the app.
As for Skype not working in some OS versions you may have to pay attention to the version of Skype that can be used.
I don't use Skype and have not kept abreast of the changes and how they might apply to the different versions of the OS.

So, I would like to share with you some ideas.
Requirement
- Skype will be used primarily to talk to customers.
- we would like our employee not to steal all of his contact list
- usually some confidential phone calls are recorded
I know there's Skype Manager that helps to configure internal users, but I didn't see any way of limiting the ussage of thouse account to the internal network
ANd I cannot see neither a way to record conversations.
Did anyone use skype inside the company?
Which are the features that have been enabled/ and where are the internal procedure for Skype use?
I appreciate all the response

Skype uses DVB-T card as camera

I have problem with Skype, because it uses TV card as video, so Skype uses CPU on 100%. I want to disable Skype using TV card. Skype 3.6 works OK, 4.0 and above is bad for me. CPU is P 4 2GHz, 2 GB RAM.
