    Again Skype installer did not work for latest version Skype 7.3.0.101 for Windows XP but this time I know it is a Skype problem and not me or my computer, because it failed again and told me that an older version Skype 7.3 could not be removed, I am not surprised, I only had 7.2 at the time, and 7.3 was what I was trying to install. So Mr Skype/Microsoft, you still have some work to do. However my original solution of the get around does still work, and I use it instead.     That is a LOT of log-in items for a compute with 4GB RAM. Some are hard to avoid but Excel is a big program that can be easily launched from the Dock. I don't know what "Inspiration 8" is but likely the same advice will apply.

    I am running Mac OS 10.9 w Skype Version 6.5.0.443. I cannot login to the app with my Skype or Microsoft accounts. I can log in to both fine on the respective Webpages. So now basically, the Skype program on my Mac is unusable. BTW, I changed my password for both the accounts mroe than once. Very annoying.

    After updating my skype version I am having problem during sending file.  My current skype version is 7.0.0.1102 ans when I send a file to some one in my conttac they get file with whole path of where the file is save on my desktop rather then only name of file. eg. I am sending one png file named "home_screen.png" the person who get this file get "d/my/company/projects/home_screen.png"
    this thing is happen after updating my skype and same prolem cuese to y collegue too. 
    Hope I can get proper solution for this bug.

    Not known any alternatives yet. Goolge+ has some sort of function for real time videocalls, which runs on browser, without need to install anything on the background. But it's not same as Skype and it doesn't support wireless handsets.
    I think there's a lack of fast working instant messenger for now. Some skilled programmers could create new P2P instant messenger to replace Skype.
    Here's some ideas for it (anyone can feel free to use them):
    - Open source
    - Written in C or some other goor programming language that creates native code, and can be ported to any platform. Native code means, that it will run FAST, with minimum amount of memory needed to do things (that's 100% opposite of the principle of current Skype versions).

Little bit like Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies, which do not have any "central" organization behind them and the product kind of "lives" in the network, when each node will help to keep it living.
    - End-to-end encryption of all communications, with traffic routing thru many nodes (just like tor nework). No goverment / NSA backdoors included.
    Let's hope that we will see something like this in some day...

    I have upgraded Skype which is bacially an automatice upgrade to a version Skype Version 7.2.0.103.
    Since I have upgraded my Skype Application just simply crashing. I am using WIndows 8.1 Verson.
    I can open the application.
    Then it stays up for about 2 min then I get the follwoing Error message:
    Skype Version 7.2.0.103
    First WIndows popped up and says:
    Windows is checking for Solutions. >>>
    Then Pops up another windwo and says the fgollowing thing >>
    " Skype has stopped working
    A problem caused the program to stop working vorrectly.
    windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
    Debug    Close program "
    I have only choice to close the program.
    Does any one have any solutions?

  • Skype version 7.6 (7.6.0.409) keeps crashing

    My skype keeps crashing.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled in three times.  After reinstallation, it seems to work ok, but now is crashing about every 60 seconds.

    Just ignore the updating, Skype is maintained now according to MS standard.
    See my post about "NO to upgrades". The problem is that there are different versions for every platform, and they have no release policy, so the moment a new version is made for MS Windows, they try to do the same on all the other platforms.
    Sorry Skype, but learn quickly never to touch anything that works. So upgrading is something you should never do, that may render you Skype useless. If it works, do not touch it. If it fails, go look for an old version that works. The novelty they have introduced is more bugs and slower systems, integration with Microsoft accounts (which I do not have) and they are probably working hard to replace servers out in the net, with their servers which is doomed to be a disaster.
    Never change software that works!

    I work for a company that uses Desktop API to enable our devices to use call controls in Skype Desktop.  All seems to be working up to Skype version 6.20.0.104.  Newer version of Skype still have support, but returns values are now unexpected, and has broken our solution.
    Consider the code below snippet for holding a call.  I check if the active call has clsInProgress status.  With newer version of Skype, the status is always clsRinging.
    ICallCollectionPtr calls = m_pSkype_->ActiveCalls;
    int numCalls = calls->Count;
    for(int index=1;index<=numCalls;index++)
        ICallPtr call = calls->Item[index];
        TCallStatus status = call->GetStatus();
        if (status == clsInProgress)
            //[HandleCallRequest] - CallRequestHold
            hr = call->Hold();
            break;
    I would normally post to developer community, but this site no longer exists. Can someone who knows please respond, or suggest an alternate action?

    This is a known issue in the latest 6.22 and 7.0 versions.
