Skype video crashing Windows 8.1

Every time I try to access video with Skype it crashes my Dell Venue 8 Pro running Windows 8.1. I have tried uninstalling and installing an older version of Skype. I have updated all my Dell and Intel Drivers. I have reinstalled the latest version of Skype. The system crashes whether I use the modern app or the desktop version.

So, this issue has nothing to do with Skype , but is caused by defect webcam or device drivers.
You can try to rollback the Intel imaging signal processor 2400 drivers.

The issue that you described seems like a software problem.
Can you try check the following:
1. Make sure you're running the latest version of Adobe Flash (http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer)
2. Disable adobe flash's hardware acceleration (right click on the video > choose Settings > uncheck Enable hardware accelleration.

Skype video crashes my GPU driver and causes blue screen.

Hello,
Installed a new copy of windows and got the latest version of skype for my PC (on wich skype worked just fine, video calls, voice calls, but it was an older version. No hardware changes)
With the new skype, I , for the least, get driver crashes, and for the most, a blue screen, when I just go to options to set up my webcam.As soon as I see the square "loading" my webcam in the options, everything freezes and I get a driver crash or a blue screen.
Current specs:
i5 4440, stock clocks
2x8gb 1333 ddr3 1.5v ram, stock
R7 260x, stock
500w PSU, not the best quality, But I also tried a 1000w platinum PSU, and same resaults.
last error code I remeber from the blue screen was: 0x00000116
I know it is related to the GPU, but it doesn't have power deficiency, since I manage to run heavy games just fine.By the way, my webcam works just fine on different web sites, so it's not the webcam.
What I tried:
-Degrading to the oldest supported version by skype
-Degrading video drivers
-Using different webcams
-Installed all windows 7 64 bit updates

I would suggest uninstalling Droidcam as it could be the source of some delays assisting in causing the problem. TDR problems occur when your videocard is unable to respond in 2 seconds for a variety of reasons (heat, tweaks), forcefully resetting the card. Some people increase this delay in their registry from 2 to up to 10 seconds to give the card time to catch up so that a reset doesn't occur. IPhone .mov videos crash windows explorer

I use OneDrive on my iPhone 5s to back up my photos and videos. When I try to view the videos on my Dell XPS Windows 8.1 machine, I run into trouble.
When I use Windows Live Photo Gallery, it crashes whenever I try to view one of the videos. If I open the camera roll folder in windows explorer it crashes when creating the thumbnails. I also tried using the modern UI photo viewer. It crashes as well when
opening the thumbnails. I tried using VLC. It does not play them either. There seems to be quite a few other people experiencing this issue.

Imported iphone videos crash windows explorer

Hi, I have imported 10 short video clips from my iphone to my windows 8 laptop using the usb data cable. The transfer or import works fine however when I open the folder containing the clips and hover the mouse pointer over one of the video clip icons, windows explorer immediately closes. No error message, no warning, just immediate closure.
It appears to be a problem relating to the imported iphone clips as non of my other video clips have this error, just the ones I've just imported.
This occurs using various media players, WMP, VCL etc.
Having read a few thread on help forums it would seem this is something linked to thumbnail viewing but I've not got a clue how to sort this.

TThis is a user to user support forum. You will only get a response here if someone else has experienced your problem, or knows a solution. Since your error involves Windows Explorer, have you tried a Microsoft support forum. You can also get an error report in Windows for the crash. Check with Microsoft.

Skype call crashes video card driver

So today i tried making a skype call on a Win 7 (64bit) pc and my monitor went black, can't say what changes caused this to happen last time used before changing Video Card a month ago, cause i use my phone version more often. So i run ATI Sapphire R7 260x, latest drivers up to date. All windows drivers up to date. Maybe someone has a sollution. Tried to look up in search but only one topic like this and it's quite out of date. Any questions about system i can answer.

It is ultimately going to be either a configuration of the drivers, a catalyst issue or due to those particular drivers. I've been wanting to try out ATI cards again but similar issues such as this have haunted me in all my ATI purchases. I've always found the key thing is to stick with a driver version that is most stable possibly holding off on the latest and greatest drivers if a workaround isn't available.

So here is the problem. Skype makes my pc totally useless. When I call someone, I get a notification that says "Amd display driver has crashed" or something like that. Thats one case, the good one. The bad one is that the whole thing freezes. I can't use anything, i have to hard reset the computer. It happens pretty often. I have tried to reinstall skype numerous times. I am running windows 8.1 64bit. Below you can find my diaxdg file.
Note that it also happens when I am called. Skype also refuses to use my webcam. I have no problem using for example the Camera app of windows 8. It shows its existence, but no video. I have tried changing usb ports. It may work at times, but for short periods.

Try to uninstall the currently installed Skype version and install the older 6.14.0.104 version using the download links provided here:

Make sure to disable automatic updates:
Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Automatic updates ->Turn off automatic updates

Skype Startup Crash on Windows 7

After login sound and two seconds of loading, the Skype windows cease to respond and Skype will crash when one clicks on any Skype window. I am using Skype version 7.6.0.103. The problem began on Skype 7.2, but I uninstalled that and installed Skype 7.6.0.103. The problem persisted and I reinstalled Skype 7.6.0.103 which still did not help. Export to anything, but Video for Windows causes crash in CS4

I am running the latest update to CS4 on my PC, and while I have had no luck exporting my timeline full of MPEG-4 material to QT, H.264, etc...using the render que, I am having success choosing the Video for Windows 8-bit 4:2:2 codec. I am running the latest drivers for QT and whatnot so why does anyone think this would be? It also causes a crash using the Export function in the File tab. Thanks for your help!

Here is an update to my last post. Anyone want to chime in on what could be causing this issue while exporting to an .avi? Thanks for the help!

Skype keeps crashing when making/receiving a call

When I make a call or receive a call on Skype it crashes. It seems to happen when either party clicks answer. IMs work fine but can't use the program for its main function.
Running Skype 7.0.0.102
Tried reinstalling still experiencing the problem.
Deleting the folder C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Skype does resolve the issue but it is only a temporary solution and not how to run Skype.
Included a DxDiag.txt file.

XSplit software is the only Video Capture device, and most likely conflicts with Skype.

Try to uninstall this application. Perhaps it will just be enough to unregister VHMediaCOM.dll module:

Skype is Crashing my Computer

Every time I get on my account, it waits 10 seconds, then after that my computer goes to a blue screen and restarts my computer. I suspected it was Skype, so I went on my other account without Skype, downloaded it, then it also went to a blue screen then my computer restarted. Then I undownloaded skype on that account. Now it's come to the point to where I can't uninstall or do anything about it. Please help.

You will need to downgrade or replace the drivers for your camera as they are known to cause problems. You have the choice of using an earlier version of HP drivers and hiding any updates, or using the generic Microsoft USB Video device driver. I've noticed that the Skype app on the Windows 8 Start screen does not do all the things that the desktop version of Skype for Windows 8 does. I heartily recommend installing the desktop version of Skype, as well as the Start screen app, and logging in to both. That way you'll still get updates in your live tile on the Start screen, and you will still be able to get voice messages on your desktop version of Skype. It's the best of both worlds.
I managed to listen to an online radio station full blast while making a Skype call. Here's what I did:
First, I installed both the Skype app and the desktop version of Skype for Windows 8 (get the directions in the Installing and setting up Skype for Windows 8 and the Installing and setting up Skype for Windows desktop sections of the Using Skype to Make Voice and Video Internet Calls (Windows 8) document.)
Then, like you, I selected the Do nothing radio button on the Communications tab of Sound menu (press the Windows + W keys; type Sound into the search field; and then click Sound in the search results.) I then restarted my computer.
I made a Skype call using the desktop version, and then made a new Skype call from the Start menu app. That's when I started noticing that the volume of the radio station was not reduced. Also, when a friend sent an instant message, I heard the little ping sound full blast.
I'm not entirely sure why that all worked, but it did, and I hope it works for you, too. Will you reply to this post to let me know if it helps you?

Poor quality Skype Video Calls with good connectio...

suffering with Poor quality Skype Video Calls and also voice.
My connection is 8 mb Download and .6mp upload, my wife in another country has Fiber so is alot faster again.
I am using Windows 8.1 and also a Ipad Air, same issues on both.
The Windows Pc has a nice microsoft Hd webcam (not one of the cheapones) using a i7 pc with 16g of Ram and a Gaming Graphics Card.
There is very little software on the pc, a couple of games, no itunes, Downloading software and very little running in the background. I use Window Defender and Anti virus and have recently done a re instal of windows and everything is updated driver and software wise, including skype.
The Ipad is the Apple air.
When connecting to my Wife in the Uk the reception isnt great picture wise and after a little while gets bad and also disconects alot and then comes back with a worse picture and call quality. I have even had the bad connection pop up. I have ran speed tests at these points and all are showing fine.
I also have a issue when calling my Dads land line in the uk where he has trouble hearing what im saying, muffled and echos
I am a premium paying customer and started to get a bit frustrated.

@Furgan, in which country are you located? Some countries and ISP-s are shaping Skype traffic. One known country is Saudi Arabia for example.
If would help us if you could please reproduce the issue and provide logs as described in this link https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA12321/how-do-i-create-log-files under Skype for Windows Desktop and attach it to your post?
