Skype video turns dark
im using early 2014 macbook air os yosemite..my camera works fine even in dim settings when i open my photobooth.. but when i start to use skype, it turns dark under dim settings .. is their anyway to increase the brightness or something under dim settings
When I downloaded to OS10.8.4, Skype and a number of other apps updated as well.
I went to Skype preferences/audio/video to engage the camera as it would not activate in answering a call.
Then my stupidity dawned upon me. Previously I wound engage
the phone icon and the video would respond. I realized that my video should be engaged to receive a video call. Duh!
Why it behaved differently now, I can not say, but the answer was obvious to the left of the phone icon.
Maybe I have been using FaceTime too much.

Hope anybody can help me.
I have a Macbook Pro with Lion installed.
But... When I connect my MBP to my Samsung 32" screen.
* My fonts (Only on my Samsung, not on my MBP screen) turn dark, from a light greey to a really dark greey.
* When my VLC screen is on my MBP its normal, but when I put it on my other screen then it becomes really dark so its impossile to see whats on the screen.
Its the same on every screen i have tried (an LG aswell).
I have had this a couple of weeks now, ever since I borrowed a HDMI adapter from a friend and connected it with my MBP.
Its really becoming a problem. Since I can't watch anything on my screen anymore.
Does anybody have a solution?Try:
- Going to NF support site/contacting them
- Try a different adopter
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Hello all
After coming back from holiday 3 weeks away in sunny Spain, I came back turn on my hub, connected back to the net.
Also had that time BT announced that they were via email
'We’re upgrading your local exchange to give you a better service'
The only time I use the internet is to connect my son who lives in Japan. I phone him on skype just twice a weeks speaking on an average of 20-40 minutes per time
My average monthly usage is 3.23 GB of the 10GB that I can use.
I just use Video skype nothing else. I dont browse the net I just use skype video.
Here is the problem. He can see me perfectly but when I recieve his video it isnt sharp its a bit blurry.
(before it was crystal clear) It says that
So he went to phone his friend via video skype and he said his picture, recieving and sending are crystal clear and so something is wrong with my computer.
On my side the skype connection say sending is good. and recieving video is bad
but on my sons side it says sending video is bad and recieveing video is good
what can I do for the picture to become clear again?

Videos look dark displayed using projector, but OK in my laptop?
this one seems to be a common problem. I have been lecturing in several medical meetings and when colleagues show embedded videos in their presentations, they look very dark. Sometimes they are so dark that miss completely the point. I have had the same problem, to the point where I have had to skip a slide with video because it is so dark that it cannot be seen on the main projector screen. The curious thing is that in my laptop screen they look fine when I am presenting... but very dark when they are projected. Any ideas to solve this problem? Thanks in advance!
I don't have the same problem (i.e. videos too dark) but I'll bet it's the same solution. My problem was that the Keynote presentation on the LCD were way too dark. Funny thing was that if I opened up the systems preferences dialog box, they looked fine. Hummm.
Turns out that it was an issue with a change in the latest OS and how apple now handles the gamma setting in external displays. I don't recall all the details but Snow Leopard seems to use the new standard gamma of 2.2, making output too dark. The output gamma should be closer to 1.8.
To fix this, you need to adjust the color profile for the LCD projector that you are using.
To fix a projector, the projector must be plugged in and turned on to do this.
If you go to System Preferences, Displays and the Color option. You'll see a list of Display Profiles. There will be a dialog box on both the computer screen and the projector screen. To get them both on the computer screen to make editing a little easier you can click Gather Windows at the bottom of the dialog box on the computer.
I found it easier to just Calibrate the monitor and same a new profile - you can also uncheck the Show profiles for this display only and pick another profile like one of the sRGB profiles. To calibrate, click the Calibrate button (be sure you do it on the dialog for the LCD projector) I'd click Expert Mode - this will give you more options when adjusting the Gamma. Run through the Calibration routine making sure that you select a Gamma that is closer to 1.8 instead of the 2.2.
At the end, same the profile and then everything on the external display should look much better.
When researching my issue, there seemed to be consensus that using a digital interface the projector was better than the normal VGA cable. Didn't have a cable to try that.
Once you do this, the machine should always recognize the projector and behave properly. Seems a pain to have to do this but I didn't find any other alternative. The good thing is that I have not had to do this on every projector that I use. I have my own projector that has always worked properly.
I teach at a university where the rooms have mounted projectors - some work with no change, others I have to calibrate...

Could someone hack and access my webcam and microphone after having a Skype video call with him?
I am worried if someone with whom I had a Skype video call could hack and access my webcam and microphone anytime he wants. I am using a MacBook Pro and I know that the green light is supposed to be turned on when the webcam is being used. However, I've heard that there are hackers that can turn off the green light, so that I don't know it is being used.

New iPad 4G internet access lost during Skype video calls, also to all apps...

i have the New (3rd generation) iPad 4G 32 Gb and i noticed that i totally lost internet connection during Skype video calls. The wifi signal is full but loosing the internet connection. Trying other apps like safari after the failure i don't have also internet access. After turninmg off & on afain wifi from iPad's settings everything returns to normal state.
No other wifi problems when not using Skype for iPad, no problems with Facetime or any other application, no problem with any other device, i also have an iPhone 4 and an iPhone 3GS without any connection or internet problems.
Any idea? Is it a Skype problem, or iPad's know wifi problem?

After upgrading to Mavericks on my MacBook, I'm not able to download third party applications like Dropbox and MyCleanMac 2. After clicking the download button, the screen just turns dark and is frozen. Any idea what is happening?
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

HELP ME PLEASE!All my downloaded VIDEOS turn off on their own while playing
PLEASE HELP ME !! All Videos downloaded to my I phone turn off ON THEIR OWN while playing. Some play for two or three minutes then turn off--some play for 15 minutes, then turn off. Plus rather than letting me resume play from the point at which they turn off--they all go back to the video starting point. THIS HAPPENS with ALL videos--!!! Videos from i tunes plus home made videos. I have taken the phone to my local Apple store--they had no idea why this happens and they gave me a new phone ( very polite and nice process) however the same thing happens on my new phone. I called Apple support--they had no answers. Please help--I spent a lot of money on the new i phone ( pre discount price) plus bought a brand new computer to make all this work with video and so far a big disapointment!! My computer is an HP Pavillion Elite - model m9040n- with an Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q6600,,memory 3GB DDR2, NVIDIA GeForce 8400 video card, using VISTA WINDOWS HOME PREMIUM. Thanks for your note. Glad to get all the help I can with this problem. Apple had me Update the phone several times and then restore the phone 3 times. None of this helped. I have even tried an update and restore wwith the new phone. PS: In your note you mentioned that Apple may have had an issue with video turning off before--did I read that corectly?

When I try to answer a skype video call on my Ipad (2nd generation), as soon as I click on the phone or video icon the call is ended. This only happens with one of my contacts. I can video call them without any problem! But not in reverse. Any suggestions???

suffering with Poor quality Skype Video Calls and also voice.
My connection is 8 mb Download and .6mp upload, my wife in another country has Fiber so is alot faster again.
I am using Windows 8.1 and also a Ipad Air, same issues on both.
The Windows Pc has a nice microsoft Hd webcam (not one of the cheapones) using a i7 pc with 16g of Ram and a Gaming Graphics Card.
There is very little software on the pc, a couple of games, no itunes, Downloading software and very little running in the background. I use Window Defender and Anti virus and have recently done a re instal of windows and everything is updated driver and software wise, including skype.
The Ipad is the Apple air.
When connecting to my Wife in the Uk the reception isnt great picture wise and after a little while gets bad and also disconects alot and then comes back with a worse picture and call quality. I have even had the bad connection pop up. I have ran speed tests at these points and all are showing fine.
I also have a issue when calling my Dads land line in the uk where he has trouble hearing what im saying, muffled and echos
I am a premium paying customer and started to get a bit frustrated.@Furgan, in which country are you located? Some countries and ISP-s are shaping Skype traffic. One known country is Saudi Arabia for example.

Display turns "dark" after 1 minute
Hi, first of all forgive my english
I have a an unpleasent problem with my display, it turns dark after 1 minute of no using it.
I have a Satellite, Windows 8, and Toshiba Eco utility. I have tried to change the time when the display turns dark or when the computer shut down in a lot of opportunities in the "Power options" item, i even tried to make my own plan of energy, but nothing works :/ My display still turns dark after 1 minute.
I really need to make it last longer on! D: it's driving crazy

the video on iPhone 6 is far too dark. Compared to photo it's Much darker. Can't make out much in videos. Is it fixable?!

I have Desktop dx6100 mt pentium 4 3.0hz.. please i need a help i cant use my skype video call. When u start to use the call my pc is hanging then i need to restart my pc to get it back to normal.. itry to uninstalled and install agian but it gave same problem any body have an idea to help..
