Has anyone downloaded Yosemite and found that there are no ore scroll bars? I have to move the window (of any window, Skype window, browser window etc.) in order to find the scroll bar and then it disappears so fast I can't even use it.

Not sure why that was unchecked but good to know!
Apple's new default (since at least a couple of OS releases back) is to have it off so OS X matches the behavior of an iPhone or iPad.
I almost never need a scroll bar, and when I do, I just move over to the edge of the window when scrolling and a larger scroll bar appears.
Yes, for the most part, users don't really need the scroll bar. That's what the scroll wheel on almost all mice is for. Saves the trip over to bar to physically grab and move it. But, I do like it on all the time regardless. That way (especially with a long article) I can just take a quick glance over to the bar to see about where I am on the page (a third of the way down? halfway?). Otherwise, I have to move the page just to make it appear to give me the same information.

  • Skype window won't show/becomes invisible after lo...

When I launch Skype, the login screen shows and it automatically signs me into Skype.  However, once the login screen is gone, there is no Skype window.  The application is still running, but all I can see is my desktop.  Skype is basically invisible--I cannot call or even view my contacts.  How can I solve this problem?
I am currently running Yosemite 10.10.2.

Please,  run the DirectX diagnostics tool (32-bit version).
Go to Windows Start and in the Run box type dxdiag.exe and press the OK button. This will start the DirectX diagnostics program. Run this diagnostics and save the results to a file. Please, attach this file to your post.

  • Skype window issues!

I am using Windows Vista. After booting up my PC again this morning, after I logged in, something odd happened with the window that Skype runs in. After trying to perform a Google search, right in the middle of me typing in what I wanted to search for, the minimised Skype window popped up. I closed it, only for it to minimize itself again and pop up twenty seconds later. I did nothing to open it. Then. I used the lt+F4. That did the same thing. I even went in to Task Manager, and shut down all Skype processes AND the application, and they all popped back up again, and Skype was doing the same thing as it was before. Help!

Just open a chat window and close it - you would see that used handles from Skype would increase.
Same is valid for the GDI objects.
Oh, and I no longer can use Skype 6.0... It gives "Skype can't connect" message... Just perfect...
    EDIT:
I have played around with old versions of Skype and it seems like the earliest that could be installed and used at the moment (Sept.2014) is Skype 6.14.0.104
So far it looks like this version behaves a little bit better related to GDI/handles leak.
However it seems that http://download.skype.com/msi/SkypeSetup_6.14.0.104.msi is no longer available...
So you should count on third party sites like http://en.chat4o.com/ or http://mirror.szepe.net/software/ in order to obtain installer for it.

  • Small skype window disappears when entering steam ...

I am having trouble with Skype when playing Steam games. When leaving Skype while in an active call the small window still appears and I can see and hear the other person okay. However, when going into a Steam game the small window now dissappears. I have made sure the relevant settings have been selected. I have already tried removing and re-downloading skype and the problem still persists. The person I am skyping who is also playing with me does not have a problem with their small Skype window.
Does anyone have a solution to this problem?
    Thanks

I recently went through and deleted certain originals from my library (since there were hundreds I didn't need after modifying them).
And in doing so you corrupted your library.
To create and populate a new library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.
Remember: *It is strongly advised that you do not move, change or in anyway alter things in the iPhoto Library Folder as this can cause the application to fail and even lead to data loss*
My best advice is if you don't want to preserve your Originals then do not use iPhoto. Preserving the original is hard-wired into iPhoto and it takes some contortions to attempt to defeat it. And, of course, it must be done again and again as time passes. And every single time you do it you risk data loss.
Also, if you do remove the Originals you're defeating the best feature of iPhoto 08 - Lossless editing.
    Regards
    TD

  • Favourites spelling in Skype window

    Hi ,
Please check the spelling of Favourites in skype window. Just came across this.
    Attached the screenshot for reference.
    Thanks,

Hiding something does not eradicate it. It took two complex sessions of "chat" with Microsoft.  They remotely connected to my computer and after a bewildering deletion of files and re-booting THIOUGHT they got rid of it.  It re-aqppeared with a different individual name. After the second session with again remote control and deletion of files it seems to have gone now.

  • Skype Windows client hangs for the first call - co...

    Hi,
Skype on my Windows 8.1 (depending on its mood) hangs for the first call. It will keep ringing and ringing till it times out, during that time I am not able to hang up the call as well, the red hang up button doesnt work and we have to let the call go on till it drops on its own. Then on the second try it connects perfectly fine. This happens most of the times, there are only a few days where it connects on the first try otherwise its always the 2nd time.
Please let me know what could be the possible solution for this one?
    Thanks

  • Skype window not appearing

Hi, Im running OS X 10.8.5 on a '11 Mac Mini and skype version 6.9. Both on this version of skype (and the previous version), It would sign in with the icon in the top right and skype presented as open however the UI window (such as 'home', 'friends' etc etc) didn't appear. I tried cleaning the cache, the application support, reinstalling skype, instlaling previous version of skype and using Onyx to clean up the computer in general and even tried fixing disk permissions (if it did anything) and force quitting it and trying to open a new window and even try and open windows up via the buttons at the top. The only window that opens are pretty much just 'about skype' , update skype and that skype wifi thing.  Has anyone got any suggestions to get Skype up and running for me? This happened out of the blue and il appretiate some help.
    Thank you!

HDMI (so I was told) is a "passive" output, even when adpated to DVI. It will behave this way unlike a VGA connection, which is "active".
When you turn off the second monitor, check your Display Pereferences in your System Preferences to make sure that your OS isn't still trying to use the second display's "real estate" as part of an extended desktop...
It's a hassle, but it beats spending hours or days trying to find an app that opened on a monitor that's off.

  • When I try to Quit Skype Windows Explorer crashes

With Windos 7 ,,when I try to Quit Skype I get a message that Windows Exploer has stopped working.. and the only way to actually close Skype is trhough the Task manager.  any suggestions?

Try to reset all Skype settings.
Quit Skype or use Windows Task Manager to kill any Skype.exe process. Go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %appdata% and then press Enter or click the OK button. The Windows File Explorer will pop up. There locate a folder named “Skype”. Rename this folder to something different, e.g. Skype_old.
Next go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %temp%\skype and then press Enter or click the OK button. Delete the DbTemp folder.
    Restart Skype.
N.B. If needed, you will still be able to re-establish your call and chat history. All data is still saved in the Skype_old folder.

  • Linux skype = Windows Skype

We Want Linux skype to look like windows skype!
If you agree with me comment and like this post!

I have to disagree. The Linux Skype is relly hard to find the correct chat because there is no icons so if they change there name your lost. The space usage is crap, It is VERY ugly, there is no good way to make a group or add a contact...... I could go on
If you rename your contacts manually, the names will stay there. I do it often, because I know the people under some other nick or whatever. So just rename them. Then it will be really easy to find them. I have a lot of contacts, but I may search the contacts by typing few letters.
The space usage is unicate. I can have one conversation-per-window, so I can have the roster on first desktop and the chat windows placed on some other. I use at least 4 desktops. At work I use 8 desktops and dualhead.... And it's great to have the possibility to arrange the windows as I want.
Another issue, in the windows skype when you switch between the conversations, the focus is not placed in the typing text line. So you have to click there and type. Otherwise you'd perform the roster searching. What's more important in skype? Searching for contacts or chatting? I think it's clear. The Linux version of skype can be fully and comfortably controlled by keyboard. That'sgreat and I hope it will remain like that.
And,... I am not used to have ads in appliacations. Neither the Android nor the desktop ones. Ads suck, it's insane to have them there. It's normal not to have ads in app.
Adding contact? There's a button for that.
Making groups? Try to drag and drop a contact from your roster to a chat window. But you have to turn the right panel with the contact on in the chat window.
    And I may continue too

  • Skype windows 8.1 freezes for a bit while video an...

    Hi,
I have a Lenovo T440s with Windows 8.1 Pro installed 8GB Ram and INtel HD Graphics card. Whenever i do video call on skype using desktop version after a while skype freezes for a bit, disconnects the call and shows red on the connection bar. After few mintues it works again, then does the same thing and completely freeze and shutdown. When using skype app(modern windows one) its does similar thing, just does shutdown itself yet freezes, disconnects and reconnect. this is constant thing noticed on both side of skype. however, at the same time if switch to my macbook pro and call the same person, i can do video for hours and no problem !
Is anyone else having the same problem or is it just me. I need a solution please, its really annoying when doingsome serious work !

    Hi all,
Hoping someone can help me here. If I use my discrete video card (nvs 42000m) to boot into windows, it will freeze on the sign in page or sometimes on the metro page however when Optimus is enabled it works just fine.
So I thought it was a driver issue. I went to Nvidia and downloaded their latest video card driver for windows 8.1. No help
Uninstalled that, went to Lenovo's support site and installed their recommended driver and all other windows 8 drivers. Again it would freeze
Booted into safe mode uninstalled that, turned optimus back on, and this time used Windows update to install my video drivers (intel and Nvidia both this time).
Didn't work. So I spent maybe another hour or so fiddling and after many restarts i finally found the culprit. It was the Lenovo monitor driver. As soon as I uninstalled that, everything worked fine and I could finally use my laptop with optimus disabled and discrete video card enabled.
Windows update keeps recommending me to update the monitor driver but if I do, then it freezes again so I'm just leaving it as the default generic monitor.
The reason why I made this thread is to inform and save potential users in the future who have a similar laptop to mine (t520 with hd 3000 and nvidia 42000m) with Windows 8 installed and they happen to choose to solely run their laptop with the discrete graphics card, remember to uninstall your monitor driver.
I am open to recommendations and other alternatives.
