Before complaing about a particular brand, please wait for answers to your actual problem
I did already have an answer, from Iogear, as I mentioned previously:
Jason,
The problem here is due to the Mac not supporting a headset profile.
The GBE201 will only work with Windows based platforms.
Thanks,
Service Support
The GBE201 is the headset.

My i phone disconnects with my wired headset everytime I answer?  Anybody have ideas about what it is or what I could do about it?

A bit of clarity- the phone call disconnects when I am using the wired headset.  I like using a wired headset so I do not wish to use a bluetooth. I taken to unplugging the headset a bit and using the aswer button and this sometimes helps.

  • What is the iPod Model #????, that works with the Wireless Headset Adapter?

Dear Mac Support, I want to order the iPod with the head phone jack that is in the center at the top so that I can connect the wireless headset adapter. Recently I bought a new iPod and the head phone jack was on the top right corner and the wireless headset adapter will not work on that model. Can you tell the model number that I need that will work with a wireless headset. Better yet, is there a iPod that has a built in wireless head adapter?
      Mac OS X (10.4.3)

You just bought one of the new video iPods. One of the older ones that has the remote jack needed for your adapter cannot play video. If you still want one, the model numbers are:
    20gb model: MA079LL/A
    30gb model: M9829LL/A

  • How to SKYPE with Mac MINI (Dec 2005 purchase)?

My sister wants to SKYPE with us using her Dec 2005 Mac MINI. I don't believe there is audio in via a jack (don't see it in the user guide I downloaded); and think maybe her best bet is a microphone (USB?) and then headsets or speaker via the audio OUT. (But there must be some speaker in the MINI??)
But what if she wants to do video SKYPE? Then is there a good FireWire combination VideoCamera/Microphone (like the iSight's that no longer exist)? -- or is it USB?
    To summarize:
    1. If I SKYPE her, can she hear me with a built-in speaker on the MINI - then reply via typing?
    2. If she wants audio only - a microphone and which ones are compatible?
    3. If she wants audio and video-- which FW or USB?
    THANKS!
    Steve

    1. If I SKYPE her, can she hear me with a built-in speaker on the MINI - then reply via typing?
No. Only system beeps come out of mini. Sister needs to add headphones or external audio. I show examples available from the Apple Store below, but Sister can buy compatible items at most computer or electronics store if she wants a different compatible product:
    • Headphones will give best chat results if she doesn't mind using them. Biggest benefits are hardly ever a problem with "echo" or audio feedback when chatting and can keep background noise out if you buy the noise canceling kind like these: http://store.apple.com/us/product/TS233LL/A  There is a HUGE variety of choices available, but any that work with normal audio in will work.
    • Some kind of amplified external Audio like this http://store.apple.com/us/product/TP719VC/A will give great results for chatting. Moreover, they give very good sound when listening to music/videos when she is not chatting or if she merely does not want to buy headphones. She can even connect a stereo or surround system like this http://store.apple.com/us/product/TK760VC/A to her mini's audio out if desired.
    • USB speakers like these http://store.apple.com/us/product/TU032VC/A can also work, but they cannot play at high volume because they draw power from the computer. Therefore, Sister should NOT use this option unless she has very good hearing in a quiet area. I have a set of these USB speakers for traveling with my laptop, but they cannot play loud enough for listening to music at levels I enjoy.
    2. If she wants audio only - a microphone and which ones are compatible?
    I use this Logitech: http://store.apple.com/us/product/T6831LL/A
It works very well, but any other Skype compatible USB mic should, too.
    3. If she wants audio and video-- which FW or USB?
    For Skype, I suggest USB.
If Sister's Mac OS is OS X 10.4.9 or greater, any USB webcam that meets "UVC" specs, like this one from the Apple Store will work: http://store.apple.com/us/product/TS665VC/A
If Sister's Mac OS is OS X 10.4.9 or greater, any other UVC webcams, including the webcams that Skype sells at http://shop.skype.com/ should work equally well.
(If Sister's Mac OS is 10.4.8 or earlier, she should update to 10.4.11. Doing so will make choice of webcams much simpler.
Of course, Sister's system must meet Skype's minimum system requirements at bottom of this page:

  • Skype and a wireless headset

    Hi,
I am about to start using Skype to make international calls. I would like a decent headset that I can use at a distance from my pb. Anyone know what the best options are? I was thinking of something that uses bluetooth could be good.
    1. Does a mobile phone headset work well with a mac?
    2. Do I need to get anything in particular?
    3. Are there headsets that are large and comfortable (rather than those tiny little things you get for a mobile phone)?
    4. Any other solutions people have found good?
    Thanks in advance...
    John

John, I've played with two bluetooth headsets... One from Jabra, and more recently a BT400 G5 from Radtech. They work, but had to constantly re-pair them, and the sound quality wasn't great, especially if I was more than about 6 feet from my PB. I'm back to using a Plantronics USB corded headset, they have a couple different types, very comfortable, depending on how portable you want it.
The search function on the board isn't working right now, I would guess they will have it back working soon... Try searching the Bluetooth section, as I recall there was a bunch of info posted there.

What is the version of Internet Explorer installed on your computer?
In Internet Explorer go to Help -> About Internet Explorer.
P.S. Please, don’t say that you are not using Internet Explorer. This is irrelevant. Skype depends on Internet Explorer.

  • Webcams and Skype with 10.3.9

Hi all, I searched before posting my question...thanks for any help in advance.
I have SKYPE and all is workig well-speechwise. Would like to now connect a webcam to see those I call/Skype with, what should I buy so it works with Skype and on my PBook G4 with OS 10.3 (have all updates). The folks I communicate with have a PC not Mac, but I don't think that is a problem via SKYPE (?)
    Thank-you
    Marketa

You don't need any more software . The iSight instruction book says that to use iSight, you must have the following:
"A Macintosh computer with a G3 processor at 600 Mz or greater or any G4 or G5 processor.
Mac OS 10.2.5 or later and iChat AV.
A .Mac America Online (AOL) or AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) account (only required to use iChat AV outside your local area network).
A broadband internet connection using a DSL or cable modem.
You can video conference with other iChat AV users and Windows AIM users.
You must have iChat AV to be able to use iSight with other applications."
Presumably the last instruction covers the situation where you want to use iSight with Skype. I first used my iSight camera with iChat (which was already on my iMac computer) and my daughter set up a Windows AIM account. This used to regularly crash after about five minutes, giving us both sound but no picture ( a frequently reported occurrence in the Discussions pages). After we swapped to using Skype, the problems disappeared. I am no expert and got help initially to set up using this Discussion forum. If you need any really expert technical help, I'm sure others will be willing to jump in and give it.
    Good luck !

  • E63 - compatible with a standard headset?

Will a standard 3.5mm headset with mic work with the E63?  In other words, will a headset that can be used on an iphone, blackberry, etc., etc. work on the E63?   I know the earphone part will work, that the E63 connector looks like a standard connector, but would like to know if the mic from a standard headset will work.

Yes, I would like to know the answer to this as well. I recently purchased this phone and tried to use the nokia headset that it came with. Not surprising the headset was garbage. Major static interference, completely unusable. The person on the other line could not hear me and I could not hear them. I have had nokia phones in the past and while so far the phones themselves have been quality, I really can't say the same for the accessories. Anyway, I purchased a separate headphone/headset in fact it was the apple iphone one that is used for iphones and ipods. This is one of the few headsets that has a mic and a volume control which is something that I felt was useful for this phone. When I connected the headset to the phone, at first it recognized as headphones with no mic, then it said it was a non supported device. Please someone at Nokia or anyone else who is reading this message let me know what headset is compatible with this phone because if I can't find one that is, I'm returning the phone. The main reason I bought this phone was for the 3.5 jack and the non-proprietary freedom that comes with having that feature. Again, if this is not the case I will return this phone. I hope someone wil be able to help me with a good suggestion.
One more note, I attached some regular cheap headphones and they worked fine. I could hear the person on the other line well and they could hear me using the phones mic although not as well when the phone is too far away from my face. I mention this incase someone might be wondering if it is the phone that's the problem. Using the phones mic is not an adequate solution to this problem. I want to be able to use a good quality headset with this phone, if that's not possible then I will return the phone. I'm still within my 90 days. Except for this one issue which to me is a major issue I'm quite happy with this phone.

  • Sound skype - the speakers, music - Headset

    Hi!
I've bought HP Pavilion dv6-6170se and I got a problem with audio.
The sound splits and for example the sound of game comes from speakers and the skype/teamspeak comes from headset.
The OP is Windows 7, 64

I've fixed the same error myself, try
    1.right clicking sound
    2. play back devices -> set speakers and headphones to default, headphones to non default
    3. open skyp -> tools -> options -> audio settings -> speakers -> set it to speakers and headphones
Worked for me ive had this same problem repeatedly sort of annoying. So i decided to post a solution.

  • Pairing n800 with a bluetooth headset

Anyone tries to pair their N800 with a bluetooth headset? Just wondering which bluetooth headset will work with N800

Tried to pair a bluetooth headset with the N800 and it did pair however I couldn't hear nor speak through the headset. I then found out via Nokia's FAQ that the N800 does NOT support the Bluetooth hands-free profile (HFP). It's too bad since I wanted to use Skype (voice over IP) with a wireless headset instead of the wired headset that came with the N800 (earphones keep falling out of my ears).

  • Use Skype with MB Air?

Wife's employer seems to want her to use Skype with he MB Air, and was kind enough to send a headset/mic. Employer is a little Mac-clueless, so apparently they didn't realize the Air doesn't have the two jacks that the average Windows box has.
So - how do you all use Skype? with just the internal mic and speaker? Some plug-in heaset/mic that I'm not familiar with?
    Any hints appreciated!

    Hello,
all the cheapie headsets that come with iPod Touch, iPhone, or sold separately as accessories possess a mic and are actually using the same jack for input and output.
    cheap ones:
