Skype won't maximize

Hello. I'm having a problem with Skype. Whenever I start it, it opens minimized and I can't maximize it. I have IE installed, infact I'm using it right now. I also have tried the "Skype_old" thing and it doesn't work. I have tried reinstalling Skype, but it doesn't work as well. Any help will be appreciated.

Please, run the DirectX diagnostics tool.
Go to Windows Start and in the Run box type dxdiag.exe and press the OK button. This will start the DirectX diagnostics program. Run this diagnostics and save the results to a file. Please, attach this file to your post.
Be aware that you will have to zip this file before attaching it here.

Safari, Mail, iTunes and Skype won't open

Hi there Apple-Support-Team,
a few days ago I did an update of Safari, suggested automatically by Apple, but wasn't sure if the update was successfull (I had to leave the house).
Now all applications with internet connection (Safari, Mail, iTunes, Skype) won't open anymore. Not from the dock or the application folder. I checked my internet connection which seems to be working.
I've seen quite some reports in this forum but I am not sure if I'm having the same trouble as the other users. I get no error reports or anything else, the apps just don't open.

Did you restart your Mac after the install?
If your Safari keeps crashing, or if you are updating Safari (or just have) and it is misbehaving:
N.B. Never delete Safari, never run it under Rosetta, don't use proxy settings, and don't change the application's name or move it from the top level of the Applications Folder to a sub-folder.
(If you prefer to download updates via Software Update in the Apple menu (which would ensure that the correct version for your Mac was being downloaded), it is not recommended to allow SU to install major (or even minor) updates automatically. Set Software Update to just download the updater without immediately installing it. There is always the possibility that the combined download and install (which can be a lengthy process) might be interrupted by a power outage or your cat walking across the keyboard, and an interrupted install will almost certainly cause havoc. Once it is downloaded, you can install at a time that suits you. You should make a backup copy of the updater on a CD in case you ever need a reinstall. Alternatively you can download Safari directly:

Make sure you download the correct version for your system.
Also, observe the recommended procedure for installing software: repair permissions and close all applications, install, then repair permissions again.)
Input Managers and other plug-ins from third parties can do as much harm as good. They use a security loophole to reach right into your applications' code and change that code as the application starts up. If Safari is crashing, the very first thing to do is clear out your InputManagers folders (both in your own Library and in the top-level Library), log out and log back in, and try again.
So, disable all third party add-ons before updating Safari, as they may not have been updated yet for the new version. Add them back one by one. If something goes awry, remove it again and check on the software manufacturer's website for news of an update to match your version of Safari. Remember: Tiger up to 10.4.10 used Safari 2.0.4 or, if you downloaded it, Safari 3.0.3 beta. Safari 10.4.11 used Safari 3.0.4 which was not a beta and which was updated to v.3.1.2, and now Tiger uses Safari 4.1.1 and Leopard uses Safari 5.0.1, as does Snow Leopard albeit a different version. If these latest versions of Safari are not the fastest browser you have ever used, then something is wrong!
(Trying to revert to a previous version of Safari can have repercussions, as previous versions of Safari used a completely different webkit on which other applications like iChat, Mail, Dashboard Widgets etc also rely, but if you really want to do this post back for instructions on the safe way to do so.)
Most errors reported here after an update are due to an unrepaired or undetected inherent fault in the system, and/or a third party ad-on. Add-ons that have been frequently mentioned here, among others, for causing such problems are Piclens, Saft, AcidSearch and Pithhelmet, and the dreaded CT Toolbar. If you have them, trash them and go the developer's sites to see if new versions are available for the latest version of Safari on your current operating system.
You must also ensure that you have downloaded and installed all the correct version for your Mac of Security Updates. These require a restart and a permission repair.
To reiterate, Input Managers reach right into an application and alter its code. This puts the behavior of the affected application outside the control and responsibility of its developers: a recipe for problems. That's not to say that issues absolutely will ensue as a result of Input Managers, but you, as a user, must decide. If the functionality of a specific Input Manager or set thereof is really important to you, you may well choose to assume the associated risk.
Again, the advice is to remove all Input Managers from the following directories:
• Hard Disk/Library/InputManagers
• Home/Library/InputManagers
especially prior to system updates and updates to Safari (they can always be added back one-by-one later).
Lastly, the Safari updates require a restart of your Mac, and sometimes even a double restart is required.

Skype won't launch

I just got my iphone today, I connected it to my wifi and browsers work ect, but for some reason skype won't launch. the app just bounces and then doesn't launch.
any ideas on a solution?

I've uninstalled and reinstalled Skype. It says I have the latest version. But when I try and sign in the sign in screen opens and it says "Signing in..." and the little spinney thing just keeps spinning and spinning and spinnung. I don't know what to do next. Any help is greatly appreciated!

ITunes won't maximize

I open iTunes, and it opens in the mini-player. I can play all of my music, but it only works in the mini-player. If I try to maximize the window, it freezes and the whole "windows report error" thing comes up and it closes. Extreme frustrating. I also can't use the corner of the mini-player to adjust the size of it.

my itunes won't maximize either. I can still play the music but only on the mini player. help please!

Skype Won't Open (Concord ZTE V768)

As the subject states, Skype won't open. When i press the icon or press 'open' on the Google Play page, absolutely nothing happens. No error message, no attempt to open followed by immediate shutdown, no opening of the app. Any idea what might be happening here? Is Skype incompatible with my device?

Hello Skype community! So I am having this REALLY strange problem. My Skype won't pick up any audio from my microphone unless something else is monitoring/using it. For instance, if I have my "Recording Devices" tab open under my sound settings, my microphone will work. Same for Sound Recorder. I can't figure out what's going on. I reinstalled drivers, I upgraded Skype, and I've plain turned my laptop off and on again. The same problem happens in the Skype app.
I'm running Windows 8.1, using the lastest version of Skype (7.5.0.102).
Anything else that uses my microphone works just fine without issues; it's just Skype, and I can't figure this out for the life of me. Any help? This is really frustrating me

The record level being grayed out means the interface is selected and the input level is controlled by the interface.
Did you choose the correct input channel?
Did you turn on monitoring?
Do you have the gain level turned up on the interface?

SKYPE won't work on 10.5.8

I have a MAC 10.58 and as of now (21/4/15) it won't let me open SKYPE how come as it worked yesterday?

You need Mac OS X 10.6.0 or above to use Skype. If you're thinking about updating soon, find out which version of Skype will work for you
Does that mean skype has stopped support for macosx 10.5.8? (I know many people including myself had problems last August regarding this, but don't recall anyone else having this problem recently).
Anyhow appreciate if someone can point me to the right direction (either use a different skype version or somehow hack the current one)

Go to Windows Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Right click on Command Prompt, select 'Run as administrator'.
In the Command Prompt type: cd c:\windows\syswow64 and press Enter.
Next type this and then press Enter:
regsvr32 jscript.dll
Next type this and press Enter:
regsvr32 jscript9.dll
After each Enter you should receive a message saying that DllRegisterServer in XXX.dll succeeded.
Reboot your computer.
Make now the test showing if your Internet Explorer can execute JavaScript.

Skype won't let me do call / do anything

Skype won't let me call, receive calls, or do anything. Anything and everything I click on doesn't respond. I've tried to have both regular skype and beta and that doesn't work either

Skype has stop working since I downloaded the latest update. I down loaded from your website and installed version 6.16.59.105. I am running it on Windows Professional 7 and Internet explorer 11.Symptoms.It allows me to log on but not to call anyone. When I call an online contact the system shows the “calling” but my contact never answers.My contacts never receive any call I try to make.Skype will not hang up on a failed call. The system continues to show the calling screen when I hit the ”hangup’ Icon or use the hang up command from the menu. The system will go on calling my contact forever (well it has lasted for 95 minutes till I shut down the computer)My contacts cannot see me on line.What I have done to try and fix the problem.I have uninstalled Skype, downloaded again and reinstalled. Skype won't let me sign out or quit

My computer has been on standby for 3 days now because Skype won't let me quit or sign out. I can do other things on my computer while having Skype frozen but when I try to shut down my computer, it says Skype cancelled the shut down.
It would mean the world to me if a good samaritan could help me fix this really bothering issue.

I am having the exact same problem, my laptop (macbook pro) has been on for a week, this is because whenever i try to shut it down it won't let me as it says 'to try again quit skype then restart from the apple menu', i have tried many times to quit skype but it is not working therefore my laptop is overheating.. what do i do?!
I would really appreciate it if somebody could help me because the last thing i want is for my laptop to break!

Try to reset all Skype settings.
Quit Skype or use Windows Task Manager to kill any Skype.exe process. Go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %appdata% and then press Enter or click the OK button. The Windows File Explorer will pop up. There locate a folder named “Skype”. Rename this folder to something different, e.g. Skype_old.
Next go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %temp%\skype and then press Enter or click the OK button. Delete the DbTemp folder.
Restart Skype.
N.B. If needed, you will still be able to re-establish your call and chat history. All data is still saved in the Skype_old folder.

Inkscape 0.46-14 won't maximize under gnome-desktop, metacity 2.28.0

Anyone getting the bug I'm seeing where the recently updated Inkscape won't maximize under Gnome 2.28? Manually resizing can only be resized vertically and not horizontally. Not seeing any error messages when running Inkscape from console.

I'm having a smiliar problem in Flubox with qt4 applications, however not only related to fullscreen.
Even qtconfig-qt4 is broken in its appearance. nVIDIA gfx card here and everything up to date.
Downgrading qt4 package doesn't seem to help
Virtualbox is also broken in its GUI, gives console messages like:

Major opcode: 62 (X_CopyArea)

EDIT: No need saying but No I haven't changed any qt/gtk/whatever configuration in between.

Hello, Skype for iPhone won't install on my 3GS -- I am using iOS 6.1.6. I downloaded it a week ago from the App Store and it gave me an option to install an earlier version for my device. I had to restore it today and now it says that Skype isn't compatiable with my device and to upgrade to iOS 7! I'm not forking out €500 for a new iPhone that I don't want. If they'll take shirt buttons, then it's a different story.Can someone please help? ~ Random Person

This appears to be a restriction on the Apple AppStore:If you are attempting to download the app for the first time, the App Store will not offer the download of an older version. You must already own the app for the older version to be offered. Workaround:If you do not already own the app, one workaround is to purchase/download the app from the iTunes Store on a Mac or PC using the same Apple ID you are using on your iOS device.
