Skype won't start (Werfault.exe)

Yesterday I was in a call and I was asked to host, so the host hung up for me to recall the group, but when he hung up my skype crashed and wouldn't reopen.
When I try to reopen it, skype.exe apears in my processes for about 5-10 seconds before werfault.exe shows up and they both disapear.
I've tried reinstalling it and installing older versions but the same thing keeps happening.
I've been using skype for I'd guess about 7 years now and it's the best way to keep in contact with everyone I know so I really need to get this fixed.

Try to reset all Skype settings. Quit Skype or use Windows Task Manager to kill any Skype.exe process. Go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %appdata% and then press Enter or click the OK button. The Windows File Explorer will pop up. There locate a folder named “Skype”. Rename this folder to something different, e.g. Skype_old. Next go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %temp%\skype and then press Enter or click the OK button. Delete the DbTemp folder. Restart Skype. N.B. If needed, you will still be able to re-establish your call and chat history. All data is still saved in the Skype_old folder.

• Windows Server Essentials Email Service Won't Start SharedServiceHost.exe Unhandled exception from operation

Gday Everyone,
Two weeks ago we installed a new Server 2012 R2 with the Essentials Experience role. It was fully patched at time of deployment. We enabled O365 integration and password sync was working fine last week. This morning I went to the Dash Board to add a new
user and after clicking the O365 tab all fields show "Not available".
The system event log shows
"The Windows Server Essentials Email Service service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 3 time(s)."
The application event log shows the following.

The only thing we did a few days ago was enable the Azure Backup integration. I am not sure if this broke the O365 integration as I didn't go back to the O365 tab in the dashboard after installing the Azure backup.
I have spent a considerable amount of time on google, however, majority of the posts talk about Update 1 which disables the password sync service. I have checked and all services are started with exception of Windows Server Essentials Email Service (WseEmailSvc).
The Azure Backup module is working fine and the registry location HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Server\Productivity seems to hold the correct configuration information throughout the various keys.
I am at a loss as to how to proceed with this issue? I have checked but there are no pending updates and I have attempted a server reboot numerous times.
Would appreciate external input if you have seen this issue before or know where we can look to further establish what is going on.
Cheers,
Chiper

I have a similar if not identical situation - I'm currently migrating from WS2012 Essentials to WS2012 R2 Standard w/Essentials role installed. The 'wseemailsvc' service continues to fail over and over, and I am unable to manage O365 accounts from within
the Essentials dashboard on the R2 server.

I had the issue of Skype not starting up and freeze on sign in page
I tried alll the steps listed in other posts on this topic but none of them worked,
..but I now have it up and running....
I deleted anything I could find to do with Skype - User/Library/Preferences/com.skype.skype.plist
User/Library/ApplicationSupport/Skype (the whole folder)
Skype itself from Applications
Removed iGlasses and its prefewrence fles
Changed default speech name to something other than what it was on
Restarted from an external boot disk and repaired permissions on the hard drive from disk utiility
Download and install latest verssion of Skype - but didn't open it....
Restarted again but this time in Safe Mode (shift + S after the startup chime)
Then ran Skype, it allowed me to sign in and I let it catch up with all the messages/updates etc....
I then peformed a normal restart and when I opened Skype I was able to login normally..
Happy Days!!
Let me know if this helps.

You can then begin removing files.
The key thing to do here is find the file that was created to fill up all the remaining space on the drive and delete it.
This file was created solely so that it could be zeroed over, and it would have been deleted when the zeroing was complete. Because you interrupted the procedure, you're left with this big useless file on the drive, no free space, and OS X is unable to log you in because it can't perform the normal writing of files that it would normally do when you log on.
Delete this one file - I have no idea what it's called, so do some Goolging - and you'll be able to log in as normal. Sure you're short of space, but there's no need to delete any of your important photos, letters or email. Once you can log in again as normal Google "upgrade MacBook hard-drive" and spend like $50 on the required new disk, cloning across the old (but working) system.

• Google Chrome and Skype Won't Start / Crashing After 10.9.2 Update

I installed 10.9.2 today and am unable to start Google Chrome, Google Chrome Canary, or Skype. All 3 of them seem to be failling on the same piece of code ("FillInSystemVersionInfoFromString"). Has anyone else seen this issue? Could it be related to some other conflicting software? I don't see the issue with any other installed applications, and the same thing happens when I try starting the apps from a brand new user account. I also already tried to re-seat the 4 RAM sticks, no dice.

• Photoshop CC 2014 won't start but I see Photoshop.exe running in Task Manager!

I just updated Photoshop CC 2014 today - October 6, 2014, and it won't start. I does not give any warnings or errors. Windows 7 Pro. If I check Windows Task Manager, I see Photoshop.exe running, but it never opens on my desktop.

Just so anyone that sees this will know the sequence of events:
I updated Photoshop CC 2014 and many other CC updates today
I restarted my machine (Windows 7 Pro)
Clicked Photoshop Start Icon
Photoshop did not start, but Photoshop.exe appears in Windows Task Manager (WTM) under Processes tab (approx. 8 MB of Memory used)
If I click Photoshop Start Icon multiple times, multiple EXEs appear in WTM
Tried right-clicking Photoshop.exe(s) and Ending Processes, then Running Photoshop again (same result)
Restarted my machine a second time
Now Photoshop CC 2014 runs
I will add an update here if things change.
Thanks for the help everyone!

• Update 7.43 to 7.6 - iTunes won't start but have iTunes.exe Task

Hi There!
I updated my Company-Computer from iTunes 7.4.3 to 7.6 and now iTunes won't start.
All it does is: It shows the waitcursor for a few seconds and I get a Task in the Taskmanager that says iTunes.exe
But it won't show the EULA where I am asked to accept Apples Terms.
I updated my Laptop too and that works fine.
I checked all the Services that where running (on both systems) and they where identical.
What else could prevent the EULA window from appering? And if I acceped the EULA would iTunes start ok?
Has anyone had the same problem and what could I do?
So far I deinstalled iTunes and everything else (AppleLike) and cleaned the registry of all iTunes and Quicktime branches. After a reboot I installed it again - so far it didn't help.
Has anyone an idea what I could try else (reinstalling windows ist out of the question since it is may workplace PC; everything else works fine.
Thanks in advance
René

Hey Everyone,
I am going to add to the long list of outrage. I JUST purchased (like literally...9 hours ago...) an 8GB iPod Touch and after installation I ran into the EXACT same problem. Since I am a new owner this is the first time I have iTunes installed on my computer. So of course I downloaded the most recent version (as instructed). Like everyone else in this thread is saying, you try to open up the iTunes application but the GUI doesn't appear at all. Apparently "something" is running because its process is active in the Task manager but there is nothing on my screen! What's the problem here??? I've done everything short of reinstalling XP (thats actually kind of unnecessary as you shouldn't have to uninstall an entire OS just to get an application to work...update files or clean the registry--sure...uninstall then reinstall--no..). Yes, obviously this is an Apple product so there won't be many (if any) conflicts when connecting to an Apple device (like a Macbook). But seriously guys....seriously???
What is more outrageous to me, besides the fact that this is a widespread problem...is the fact that this is a CURRENT problem that has YET to be even identified or rectified by anyone from Apple. I went on this forum, thinking that this was some known occurrence that happened maybe months ago and could be fixed immediately--but I am viewing messages from this week and even TODAY!
This is absolutely unacceptable. Who needs to be contacted concerning conflict resolution with Apple hardware? Or does Apple wish to have another iPhone-esque debacle like a few months ago?
Not to be rude, but I am not the average user that knows nothing about software and/or hardware (as I'm sure alot of others are knowledgeable). I am not "that person" that doesn't plug in the computer into the outlet then wonders why its not working. I don't mean to come here with an air of anger but this is truly ridiculous...lets get the ball rolling on a fix or start drafting up those $299.99 refunds...

• Jcontrol.exe won't start, installation WAS6.40 sp9 stops

L.S.
I have downloaded the marked 'new' SAP Netweaver enterprise portal on MAxdb, developer edition Sneak Preview and tried to install it on my laptop.
After several bumps in the road I got 98% of the WAS6.40 done but the installation stops at 'Start SAP J2EE Engine' . Looking in SAPMMC I find proces jcontrol.exe is stopped and won't start again. I need this up and running fast, because I (and several colleges) need this to prepare for the TEPD20 course starting in March.
I Searched SDN and Googled my way through the net, but nothing there that helped. I tried so far:
- reinstall everything again.
- Setting my regional settings to English
- Uninstalling Microsoft Virtuel machine
Does anyone have any idea how to get this running?
Btw I have j2sdk1.4.2_07 installed, and 2GB ram.
Regards,
Hans van der Kooij

How ironic. Just after I post, I finally get it to work.
Here's what I did:
1. Get the installation to the point of Starting J2EE server, at which it fails.
2. Open the server configuration tool, which can be found at /usr/sap/J2E/JC00/j2ee/configtool
3. Once you get the config tool happily talking to SapDB, change the values for Max Heap from 1024MB for the J2EE server (server_IDsomebignumber) to 512MB. You also need to change the vm parameters box to decrease the -Xms param to 512MB as well.
4. Make the same changes on the "Servers General" tab of the instance_IDsomebignumber node.
Once I decreased the amount of heap size allocated by the servers I was able to start them successfully using the SAP Management Console
5. Start the installer again, and continue the existing installation. It finishes successfully.
It seems to me that SAP could fix this problem just by changing the default heap sizes for the servers. I would suggest that they should.

Forefox won't start in windows XP: I get the message that windows "cant' find the exe file" even when I click from the program file, rather than the shortcut.

Delete the current Firefox shortcut on the desktop and create a new desktop shortcut via the right-click context menu on the Firefox.exe program (Send to > Desktop)

• ITunes 10 starting conhost.exe and it won't die

I updated to the latest version of iTunes about 3 weeks ago (haven't run it in over a week, due to this problem). Immediately after installing, I began seeing conhost.exe start multiple times. It took me a week to figure out which installed software was causing the issue, and narrowed it down to iTunes.
When iTunes runs (with or without its various services started), it starts conhost.exe. Whatever it is running in that console causes every other process that starts after conhost.exe starts to never end. I had taken to killing the conhost.exe processes, but they would simply restart when the iTunes services were running.
Basically, what this means is that when iTunes and related services were running in the background, HUNDREDS of processes that Windows starts and stops automatically would NEVER DIE. I once came home to find over 500 processes running, and before I figured out it was iTunes causing the problem, had to restart my computer every night when I got home, because the computer wouldn't respond. Each of those processes may have been small, but there were hundreds of them, taking up all available RAM.
In case anyone is curious (which I'm sure may happen), I'm running on a self-built Core 2 Quad 2.0GHz, 8GB of RAM, Windows 7 Ultimate x64, with somewhere near 3TB of storage space (approximately 60% of which is available). There are no current hardware issues, all drivers are up to date, and air flow through the case is taken care of by 8 case fans. Keeps my processor temps right around 100F (which is a lot cooler than they were over the summer).
The iTunes.exe version information says it is version 10.0.0.68. I know there's a 10.0.1 out now, but can't find out whether or not it resolves this issue.
Anyone have any ideas? This may be specific to Windows 7 x64; I haven't been able to find any solutions in my searching, both here and on Google.
Thanks.

Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

• SAP won't start after recabeling sap system

Hi,

I have recently recabled my sap system (from wireless to wired) and now my sap instance won't start anymore. The weird thing is that nothing major was changed. When i read the logs from the work directory it seems it cannot load dbsdbslib.dll. I have updated to the latest version of the kernel and maxdb (kernel=7.00 patch 221, maxdb=7.6.06.07) and i made very sure i got the right kernel (NT AMD64). I also checked the environment settings for the <sid>adm user. The weird part is that it seems SAP cannot connect to the database, but the databse starts just fine and r3trans -d also returns no errors. Does anyone
have an idea what could be wrong?

Kind regards,

To answer your questions:

1. Did you create the SAP ticket, where this problem is
reported?

I didn't report it to SAP because it is just an IDES test
system. I can easily do a reinstall, but i would like to know the cause and
solution to this problem.

2. Do you have dbsdbslib.dll at this location? What version?

Yes, i have the dbsdbslib.dll at location
