I had the same problem.
I tried loads of different versionson my iMac running Snow Leopard.
But updating the Mac software in the usual way and then downloading Skype 6.15.0.335 worked finally for me.
About 3 hrs work in total ...... thankyou Microsoft.

Is there an iPhone involved ?
If not, what happens if you remove the Apple ID on the iPad and then set it in Airplane Mode (allow a couple of minutes at this point) followed by re-adding the Apple ID ?
What, if any error messages are appearing on the Mac when you try to launch the App or Login to the iMessages server ?
Is the Apple ID linked to an iCloud account ?
In Messages 7 (Mountain Lion) this did not seem to be important but it seems it is in Mavericks/Messages 8

It is likely that you downloaded AirPort Utility 5.6.1. If you checked the requirements, this only runs on Leopard or Snow Leopard Macs.
You have Lion, so you need AirPort Utility 5.6 for Mac OS X Lion

Skype wont work with my mac os 10.5.8

afternoon, tried to download skype on my power book g4 and it after download I try to open the dm and it says wont work with this artitecture.
I am running 10.5.8 after I have download the dm the window that I should put it into the applications had like a do not enter symbol.

Hard drive wont work on leopard after using mountain lion

My current imac at home runs on 10.5.8 which i think is Leopard.
I have been using an external hard drive for over a year with my mac. A few days ago i decided to use my hard drive on my work imac which runs on the new Mountain Lion operating system.
I have since then tried using my external hard drive on my own imac and it does not appear on my desktop or in finder.
I have used disk utility to try repair and mount but neither worked.
My brother has a macbook pro running on snow leopard, i tried plugging it into his which appeared with the following message;
To use this disk, connect it to a Mac with Mac OSX v10.7 or later installed.
Can anyone help with this issue?

Could be. I've never encrypted a disk, so don't know if that's affecting things. Try unencrypting it, copying the data elsewhere, erasing & reformatting, and restoring the data.
I have been wanting to upgrade to mountain lion for a while but unforunately i cannot download the app store to do so. If there was any way of upgrading i think that might solve the problem.
Don't know if upgrading will solve the problem, but suspect not. Do note that you have to upgrade to Snow Leopard before Lion/ML.

Fire wire isight wont work with leopard

I have a g4 power book and since i updated to Leopard my isight camera wont work with ichat or any other application, it wont recognize the camera. Does this mean its incompatible? How can i fix the issue?

After Leopard install Mac OSX Setup Assistant is in a constant loop

I have a friend who I persuaded to switch to mac a few years ago and he recently installed Leopard without much success on his second mac (it was fine on his macbook pro 2.13ghz), a Power PC G5 1.8ghz - 1.25 gb ram. When I had a look at it it appears to be stuck in Mac OSX Setup Assistant mode - i.e. when you put the info in and the Screen says "enjoy your computer" or whatever it just comes back to the same Setup page. (What's weird is can't get to the end unless it has an internet signal - wireless at his place and ethernet at mine)
I'm guessing something went wrong during installation as when I restart with the Leopard disc in and hold "c" Leopard install launches but only shows drivers and some languages need to be installed. I copied all important files via target mode and it shows that the Computer is "10.5". I'm guessing the full installation was interrupted. There doesn't appear to be a way to do a complete re-install. I ran Tech-Tool and Disk Warrior to rebuild and verify permissions etc. No joy!
I'd like to do a full re-install of Leopard but I can't. As I have all important info backed up I guess I might have to completely wipe the disc and install Leopard on the blank disc - should this be okay as I've never done that before?
Any other suggestions appreciated.

If I press go back ...it just goes back to the Welcome screen.
I should mention that if I try and select anything that needs to be opened in a window from the Apple menu nothing opens up. For example if I choose System Preferences it will show System Preferences in the top menu but no window will open.

Pages wont work after installing snow leopard

After loading Snow Leopard sometime later I discovered that I can't open pages.

How did you install Pages? Copying from another hard drive doesn't work as a rule. It is best to reinstall from the original media.

Skype not working at all for Mac and iPhone

Hi! I'm running Skype ver.7.10 (777) on OSX Yosemite (10.10.3) on my MacBook Pro. I'm also running Skype ver.5.14.72 on my iPhone 5s on iOS 8.4. I've been having problems with Skype for Mac for the past week. It started with lagging messages in Group Chats (We have around 23 people in there, though usually only half would be online at the same time). It would take anywhere from 2 to 15 minutes to send a single word. Later, I would receive messages 30 minutes after it was sent from friends. Now, I can neither send or receive messages on Skype for Mac. Also, I would be able to chat with my contacts in private one on one chats, but when I tried to uninstall and reinstall the application, I could no longer chat with them and they would appear offline to me, even though I can confirm through webversion of Skype that they are indeed online. As for Skype for iPhone, I noticed I stopped receiving messages late yesterday, but I only got the chance to check it out now. I can no longer send or receive messages from my groups or people I've chatted with on Skype for Mac. In short, my Skype for iPhone now has the same problem for Skype for Mac. So far, I've only tried uninstalling, restarting my MacBook and reinstalling Skype. Same goes for my iPhone; uninstall, restart, reinstall. Really need help here since I have an important Skype conference call scheduled in a few hours. I'm not sure if webversion of Skype supports conference calls...? I hope this issue will be resolved soon though for now, any help will be appreciated.

I've been having a similar issue that began at approximately 7:00 pm EST last night - really hoping there's a solution soon! I've begun to receive messages from a group chat I'm in, but they're still few and far between.

Skype wont work nokia n97

Ive sorted all of the memory problems on my nokia n97 after learning tweaks ...... however I load skype from 3 and it loads on the phone goes through all of the accept conditions but wont let me either sign in or register (am registered and tried both options) any ideas why ..... ????

The Skype app for s60v5 is still in the works AFAIK and still not completed, so you would have to use Nibuzz for now.

Parallels wont work after leopard install

I recently installed the Leopard update. I have been running parallels on my mac but ever since I installed the upgrade I cannot get my windows xp to work. I can switch over but when I open it none of the windows programs will open. HELP!!!

I had this same problem. Parallels wouldn't boot, instead it bounced and then gave me an error message. Yesterday, I tried to go to Parallels support but it was broken. Today, I just opened up Parallels and it worked. Go figure. I have build 4128 from 9 June 2007. Parallels support is saying they are in the process of integrating their centers.

Cinema Display (A1081) Wont Work with NEW 2011 Mac Mini

Cinema display (A1081) woks fine with 2006 Mac Mini (has a DVI Connector on back) However same display does NOT work on mac mini 2011 (using Apples HDMI to DVI cable provided)
It shows in the ABOUT Displays, but seems to not get a signal from the mini,,,
Same 2011 Mini works fine with other DVI monitors

Eject button wont work after leopard install

Once i installed leopard my eject button stopped working on my G5. I have to restart the computer for it to work. Is there anyway to get it to work without having to restart it every time? Should i reinstall Leopard because im missing iphoto and a couple other programs since the first install so i dont know if im missing more?

just a thought .... Leopard uses the "soft" eject feature which requires you to hold down the eject for a second before the tray will open. Helps when you accidentally hit it.
i-Life, i.e., iPhoto,iWeb,iMovie, Garageband, doesn't come with Leopard, you now have to purchase these separate. Unless you buy an Apple computer.

Firefox will not start, will not open in safe mode, and still will not work after clean reinstall, Mac/OSX

One moment I was using Firefox the same as I always have. The only difference was that I changed the preferences to erase history when quitting Firefox. When trying to open the program again, it is immediately unresponsive. I attempted opening it in safe mode and a window will appear but never load, and Firefox remains unresponsive. I could not reset Firefox either. I deleted the application and re-downloaded Firefox, but it changed nothing. I am in OSX 10.7.4. Can anyone help?

Hello chillman4130, try to create a new profile(in case that you profile is corrupted), go (with closed firefox...... it is anyway) to /Applications/Utilities > Open the Terminal application > in the Terminal application, enter the following:
* /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin -p
Press Return
