SkypeMate now up to v6.0.0.3 - Runs under Win8.1 X...

I have a Yealink desk-side phone that I have used with Skype for the last 10 years on my desktop computer. It has a handset and a 10-key pad and a status LCD. It is a very nice alternative to using the webcam mic and PC speakers. It requires a USB driver called SkypeMate. Although they are a lot cheaper now, I paid a lot for this phone years ago and I want to keep it running. I really don't want to buy a new phone.
A while ago, after Skype was acquired by Microsoft, they announced that they would do away with the API interface. I assumed that would kill my phone immediately. So I stopped upgrading and stuck with the old version 6. But somehow Microsoft snuck a Skype upgrade onto my system. I certainly did not upgrade. But one day I went to use my Skype and it was all different. Somewhat brighter colors and "pretty", but my phone stopped working, just as I had feared.
Instead of dumping this new version of Skype that doesn't play well, I decided to research if a new version of SkypeMate was available. I doubted that I would find anything. I was very suprised to find the SkypeMate driver from a different manufacturer It turns out that my phone product line was sold to another manufacturer, Sogatel. and they updated the driver. Thankfully! Sometimes PC peripherals don't have to die due to lack of driver support. Rarely, but it does happen.
I am thinking that maybe there are other Skype users that need SkypeMate for their phone gizmo. So I am passing this information on in the hope that it might help. Here is where I found SkypeMate version 6.0.0.3 for Win8 desktop:

I have been using SkypeMate 6.0.0.3 more or less successfully with Skype 6.6.32.106 for many months now. The only real problem has been the infuriating pop-up that informs me that Skype "updates are ready to install". So at random intervals this pop-up occurs and disables my system until I manually dismiss the pop-up. I have tried numerous things to stop this pop-up from occurring but all to no avail.
I did trial a Skype upgrade to 7.5.0.102 but this cannot be made to work with Skypemate 6.0.0.3. Dialling out fails after the Skype dialer is raised. It just refuses to acknowledge any dialed numbers.
So we are damned if we don’t upgrade Skype and damned if we do.

After install of Mavericks, it looks like my system kernal panics and just sits there. I tried waiting over two nights. Tried reinstalling twice, booting r/s. Recovery partition now has Mavericks as OS. Im running a iMac i3 27 inch circa 2011. Any ideas?

Recovery partition now has Mavericks as OS. Im running a iMac i3 27 inch circa 2011. Any ideas? Can still bootcamp into windows.

The file seems to create the CD/DVD/Image and USB just fine. So I used this only to create a CD image which I then wrote on a blank CD which seems to work fine. Also, I played around a bit and had some partial success in booting the partition. I've updated my original opening post with the new findings.
Whew!! what a waste of time! Never want to do all of this again .

So, you need an older version of the iOS app, because the current version no longer works on your iPod touch.
If you do regular backups of your hard drive (as you should), such as by using Apple's built-in Time Machine (if you use a Mac), you may find the older version of the app in the backup archive, and restore it (replacing the newer version). They are stored in the iTunes Media folder, in the Mobile Applications sub-folder. You should then be able to sync the older version to your iPod touch.
I can't think of any other way to get it back...
NOTE: An 2nd gen iPod touch can run up to iOS 4.2.1. If your iPod touch is running something earlier, and that is why the app no longer works, you can also consider updating the iPod's iOS.
I use an even older iPhone (original). I avoid this potential problem by aways updating its apps on the iPhone, not in iTunes on the computer. When I do it on the iPhone, it will not download a newer version of an app that won't run on my old iPhone.

First try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
or with Lion, Mt. Lion or Mavericks delete the contents the User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto/
Data/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto, reset iPhoto's preferences and try again.
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
If you're running Mavericks, 10.9, go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:
where you can check the Show Library Folder checkbox.
Next, if necessary, continue with the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.

Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

I've made a collection of songs in garageband, and have them now as .aif files in my itunes library under the same album name. How do I trim the beginnings and endings of the tracks so that my album flows better?

I "shared" the songs I made in garageband to itunes. Now the songs have some extra time of silence after they end, which makes the album i'm trying to put together feel more broken. I want to make the tracks flow perfectly through each other. I want to do it permanently, also, so that when i share the album it doesn't have space in it.
In the past I have imported all the songs into one garageband file and arranged them so they slightly overlap as a continuous track but then i didn't know how to split them back up so the tracks would still be actually separated. I can't find any information on this. I know I can sort of cut the songs in the "get info" options in itunes, but the song still lists as longer, itunes just makes it jump early.

For the missing Artists on your iPod, make sure their tracks in iTunes are not marked as "Part of a compilation" in iTunes. You can do this by highlighting the track, right->clicking on them and choosing "Get Info" from the shortcut menu. When the window pops up, head over to the Info tab and make sure there is NO tick mark next to this option in the lower right hand corner. Lastly, sync the updated changes to your iPod.

When using my ipad2 in calendar landscape, month mode, I now see my end time of appointments running over into the next day. (i.e. ends at 1:00am now seen on next day as one long bar). any way to hide that?

I just updated to ios6. My month view in calendar now shows the start time and end time of appointments running over into the next day. I.E. start appointment on Friday at 5:00 pm, end it at 1:00am Saturday moring. I used to only see the one entry on Friday. Now the appointment runs across both dys showing start and ent time. Can I only show start ttme on month view as I did before?

The SIM Lock is stored on the Apple Activation Server - if it has been correctly unlocked by a network then this would have been done on the Activation Server.
When you get your replacement handset through Apple they mirror the activation server details of your existing handset and the current SIM LOCK status is mirror'd onto the new device.
(100% Accurate - done mine 2 weeks before christmas due to original 5 sleep button stopped working)

I just moved iPhoto (9.6) library to EHD from my MBP. I had been running time machine backups. With the library now on an EHD, will time machine run a seamless backup next time i connect (if i allow TM to see other drives)?

I just moved iPhoto library to EHD and removed the iPhoto library on MBP. I have enabled external drives to be accessed on TM. The next time i run a TM backup with the EHD connected, will TM run a seamless backup or will it not like the fact that a backup is now spread across two devices where it used to be on only one?

By default EHDs are excluded for TM backups - you have to go to the TM preferences ==> options and remove them from the excluded list
And you need two disks connected -one for your iPhoto library and one for the TM backup - TM will backup all hard drives that ar not excluded - you do not need multiple TM backup disks

Does anyone know how it works to create more than one site on iweb - I have my primary site and mobile me connected to my domain name for that site, but now I'd like to add a completely different site and domain name.

Here is some additional info on multiple sites in a single MMe account:

A. All sites are in the same Domain.sites2 files
1 - only one site can use the CNAME method of domain name forwarding and it must the top site in the left hand pane of iWeb.

2 - the other sites must use URL domain name forwarding which directs the domain name to the site's full MMe URL, http://web.me.com/MMe_Username/Site_Name, or, if there is no domain name, just MobileMe's full URL.
B. Each site is in its own Domain.sites2 file.
Again, only one site can use CNAME forwarding. This presents a problem since CNAME forwarding directs the domain name to the basic MMe account URL: http://web.me.com/MMe_Username/ which uses an index.html file in the root folder of the account, iDisk/Web/Sites. Each time a new site is published or an existing site uses the File->Publish Entire Site a new index.html file is created in that root directory, iDisk/Web/Sites folder, directing the browser to that particular site. This file is what the CNAME method uses to find the site it represents. Therefore some steps must be taken to assure that the index.html file in the MMe Accounts root directory always points to the correct site. This can be accomplished is three ways.
1 - don't use the CNAME method. Just use URL forwarding . This, IMO, is the simplest method as it doesn't requre any additional effort on the user once the domain name has been set up.
2 - use the following method suggested by Wyodor in this topic: Is it possible to have multiple sites when using ur Domain name?
In iWeb domainfile 1:
Create a dummy site : _dummy
with a blank page.
Create your working site : Whatever
Add pages
Publish both Sites to the same same location on the same server.
Your _dummy site is now the default Site.
Check.
In iWeb domainfile 2:
Create/Use your CurrentSite.
Move a page to the top of the Site and back. Publish the Site.
iWeb will create a new index.html file in the root of the server and from now on CurrentSite is the default site.
Check.
From now on, never move your Whatever Site to the top of the list in the iWeb sidebar and never change the page in the _dummy site.
Simply do not touch your _dummy ever again. And never forget that.
3 - use Ethmoid's suggested method in Using two sites - setting one up with separate domain? or republishing the entire site that uses CNAME forwarding. Just making a minor change and publishing the site changes does not create a new index.html file.
The entire site must be republsihing in order to get that new site.
Or keep a copy of the CNAME site's index.html file on your Mac and replace it manually in the iDisk/Web/Sites fodler when necessary.
NOTE: the CNAME method provides a shorter URL: http://www.Domain_Name.com/Site_Name/Page_Name. CNAME does not have masking.
The URL forwarding displays the full MMe URL:   http://web.me.com/MMe_Username/Domain_Name/Page_Name.   With domain name masking that will be shortened to:   http://www.Domain_Name.com for every page of your site.
WARNING: with masking visitors will only be able to bookmark and enter at the first page of the site. If a page is refreshed the visitor is taken back to the first page. Also search engines will only be able to index the first page of the site.
