SL visual fireworks followed by freeze
I have just acquired a late 2006 24" iMac with 1GB of RAM. It came with Leopard installed, disks for Leopard and Snow Leopard, and iLife '09. The hard disk was full, as in, zero K free. I threw away a lot of stuff, ordered 3GB of RAM from OWC, and installed Snow Leopard. I then noticed several one-pixel high horizontal lines on the display, and the Mac would freeze up on occasion, but I thought it just needed RAM. I opened iPhoto and played with Faces for quite a while. The next day, I opened a different iPhoto library (my libraries are on an external firewire hard drive) and the Faces scan made the computer freeze. I closed iPhoto, and bits of windows started missing, or repeating themselves as I dragged the mouse. Sometimes there would be "holes" in windows showing my desktop image underneath, or lines of bright pixels would appear. I still thought it was the lack of RAM. Repairing the disk with Disk Utility didn't make any appreciable difference.
Today the RAM arrived and I installed it. The Mac sees it, but the problem has not gone away, it has in fact gotten worse. Every time I go to Disk Utility (starting up from the SL disk), it shows problem, I let it do the repair, it comes up successful, I restart, and it happens all over again. When I do a Safe Boot, everything is perfect. Should I reinstall SL? iPhoto? Downgrade back to Leopard? Is my hard disk bad?
I have DiskWarrior 4.1.1, but I'm afraid to try; not sure if it's compatible with SL.
Ideas, anyone?
The fact that the Safe boot shows there are no problems indicates that the issue lies in your user account, not with your hardware.
The first thing I'd do is remove EVERYTHING from here:
> System Preferences > Accounts > Login Items
Select all in the list, and hit the minus '-' button at the bottom of the window.
Restart the mac normally and see if the problem is resolved.

The freeze occurred when I attempted to drag a message into a subfolder of the structure that is now corrupted. Only one subfolder remains available. The label of the folder appears grayed and italicized.
Just an update... A rep contacted me and we did a screen share. They were convinced that I wasn't full of <insert proper word here>. They promised to get back to me in a few days, and now? A few months later? Nothing.
Still no files. Still no correction... Still no nothing from Adobe.
The person I spoke to was kind, saying he'd make sure I got CC for free for a while...
Still though, no follow up.
Adobe, are you going to correct this or just let your customer suffer at your mistakes? -
Why has my Fireworks CS5 started freezing up on start-up?
I'm using Mac OSX 10.7.5, and the most recent update to CS5 (just downloaded that update again today and installed). Back in August, I was editing some photo files in Fireworks. I had a lot of files open (like, maybe 40 or 50) and didn't think to close the files before shutting down my computer. Ever since, when I try to open Fireworks, this is what happens:
The application starts to open like normal. It begins opening the picture files I was last working on in August. After a couple minutes, it seems to be finished but when I move the cursor over the window, I get the spinning wheel... and after ten, twenty, thirty minutes, the wheel is still spinning. I can't do anything at all except use the "Force quit" menu to get out of it.
I found a suggestion about deleting Macromedia Library files, but I don't have any files in the Library that are Macromedia. Another suggestion had to do with changing a couple file names by putting "Old" in front of "Fireworks" in the file name in the Library and Application support. I did that, but it didn't help.
Any suggestions? I can't afford to just buy the latest Creative Suite.Did you follow these steps, and removed BOTH the preferences and library folders?
Quit Fireworks.
In the Finder, navigate to /Users/Your User Name/Library/Application Support/Adobe.
Rename the Fireworks application support folder:
Fireworks CS5.1: Rename the Fireworks CS5.1 folder to Old Fireworks CS5.1, for example.
Fireworks CS5: Rename the Fireworks CS5 folder to Old Fireworks CS5, for example.
Navigate to /Users/Your User Name/Library/Preferences.
Rename the Fireworks preferences folder:
Fireworks CS5.1: Rename the Adobe Fireworks CS5.1 folder to Old Adobe Fireworks CS5.1, for example.
Fireworks CS5: Rename the Adobe Fireworks CS5 folder to Old Adobe Fireworks CS5, for example.
PS Since CS is very expensive, why not switch to Pixelmator, Acorn, or Photoline for your editing? Fireworks is no longer developed anyway (since May 2013). Especially Photoline is incredibly powerful for image editing (comparable to Photoshop). -
Visual Studio 2013 hangs/freezes when trying to click the designer view
my Visual Studio 2013 update 1 hangs/freezes when trying to click the designer view, after clicking "Design" I can not click "split" neather "Source". What can I do ? I already tried to set the "HTML (Web Forms) Editor
" as "Default"... thanks for support.
In VS2010 the same worked fine.
I "Run as Administrator".
ty for helpHi,
I assume that you are not using VS2013 Express version. In order to get the reason about the hang issue, please use devenv /log to gather activity.xm log and find HR error from this log.If it shows some package corrupt, try to repair your VS.
Here are my general suggestions:
Please try to run devenv /ResetSettings (in command prompt) to eliminate the related potential settings problem.
Try disabling Add-ins (e.g. “Tools” | “Add-in Manager”) or run “devenv.exe /SafeMode”.This can eliminate the possibility that third party Add-ins or packages are causing problems. Also you can try these command lines:
devenv.exe /resetskippkgs and devenv.exe /resetuserdata
Try to create a new user account. This can help isolate user profile corruption related causes.
If the suggestions above are no help, please reinstall your VS.

Commands cause Fireworks 8 to freeze (with Batch Progress dialog)
I've been having consistent trouble with Commands in Fireworks 8 (on Mac OS 10.4) causing the application to freeze. Has anyone else experienced this?
Here's the scenario: I use custom keyboard shortcuts to trigger commands such as ‘Blend Mode - Forward’ or ‘Increase Brush Size’ in order to speed up my workflow. After executing several of these commands, I'll be doing something simple like using the Selection Tool or adjusting layer opacity, and the application will freeze. A Batch Progress dialog appears ("0 of 0 files processed. Batch conversion complete."), but it is unresponsive. The only option is to Force Quit the application and to lose any unsaved changes.
This happens quite frequently. It is not a problem with any particular command; it happens with _all_ commands.
In trying to fix this bug, I discovered something interesting: Every time a command is executed in Fireworks 8, it generates an empty FireworksBatchLog.txt file within my User/Library/Application Support folder (the same folder where custom Keyboard Shortcuts and Library Symbols are stored). Normally, a Batch Log is written upon completion of a successful Batch Process, and it includes useful information about what files were processed and how. In this case, however, the Batch Log text file is empty.
Now, this Batch Log might just be a symptom of the glitch, as opposed to the source itself, but it clearly connects with the Batch Progress dialog that appears once the application freezes. Apparently, when commands are executed rapidly via keyboard shortcuts, this empty Batch Log gets rewritten every single time, and a relatively innocuous problem compounds itself and causes the freeze.
I reinstalled the software, but the bug persists. I've also filed a bug report with Adobe—but would they even consider _looking_ at a bug if the sofware version is this old? It seems odd that Fireworks 8 is the only version never to have received an update. And yet this bug seems very matter of fact. I'm quite surprised that I can't find any other references to it online...
If anyone knows of a fix for this, or can replicate the bug in their version of Fireworks, please let me know.I've been having consistent trouble with Commands in Fireworks 8 (on Mac OS 10.4) causing the application to freeze. Has anyone else experienced this?

Fireworks CS5.1 freezes up
Have a brand new Toshiba 64bit with Windows 7 (64), with 4GB of memory. Installed Creative Suite CS5.5. For a short time Fireworks worked fine. Now, whenever it tries to open, I get "An internal error has occurred." It then freezes. Have to call up Task Manager to shut it down. The online troubleshooting page advises reinstalling Fireworks. I did, but no success. The other Suite products work fine. I run Norton 360 and have MS Office 2010 Pro installed. Any ideas?
Have you tried giving the user administrative privileges?

Hi,
My server have SharePoint Server 2013,Sql, then necessary required SDKS like
WCF LOB Adapter SDK(download Complete), Biz talk Adapter for my Sap business suite(download Complete), SAP client libraries,Business Data Catalog Definition Editor installed as part of
the Microsoft Office SharePoint Server2013 SDK.
Still facing issue Template not included in any version of Visual Studio.Hi Anand,
While installing the WCF LOB adapter SDK, I guess you haven't chosen "Complete" installation.
Try this:
1) Open Add/Remove programs in control panel.
2) Select the change option WCF LOB adapter SDK and enable 'Tools' in the list of features to be installed
(Tools install the Add adapter service ref Plug-in).
Alternatively,
You can also uninstall and then install the WCF LOB adapter SDK, but this time make sure you do a custom install by checking everything not just the default.

Intermittent loss of sound followed by freezing of video (Win2K, XP)
Dear Sysop,
Problem: the first streaming flash video plays correctly
with sound and motion. Subsequent re-plays, but only of the first
file, are equally good.
When a subsequent file is played (2nd, 3rd, 4th -- it is
variable) the sound first stops, then about a second later, the
video freezes. The progress bar shows the file continuing to
load, to completion, during this time.
Motion cannot be restarted by clicking any of the buttons.
Clicking and dragging the slider to any position within the
now-loaded file will display motion at that point in the video
(without sound) but in about one second the video again freezes and
will not restart, no matter how long one waits. When attempting to
load and run another video, the player will display the first few
frames of the new video, in motion (without sound), then freeze
again, permanently.
The progress bar will always go to completion while the video
is frozen and sound is absent, and moving the slider to various
locations always indicates the entire file is there, but it will
not play. This behavior persists on all subsequent file loads and
cannot be corrected by waiting.
Work-around: the problem is always corrected by rebooting
Windows, reloading the browser and going back to the video source
on the Internet.
Files that failed will then play, but only the first time,
reliably. Reloading only the browser, without the reboot, fails
to solve the problem. The Sony video (see secondary video source)
will play (but with extremely low frame rate and without sound)
when Youtube videos are still being frozen (if this is of any
help).
Comments: I suspect something in my Windows installation may
have changed (past incompatible process, worm or malware, now
removed?) as Flash did work at one time. Problem became more severe
after upgrade to v9, did not disappear after full uninstall and
re-install of v8. Yes, I am using the Flash uninstaller program, in
addition to the Windows uninstall.
Apple's "Bonjour" process was suspect, and disabled, but
problem persists. When v9 was installed MSIE and Firefox had the
same behavior at the same time, so it must be in some part of the
installation, some Windows process, or maybe a Registry entry,
something that's used by both. No, at this point, formatting the
drive and reloading Windows isn't an option ... searches of this
Forum or the Internet on this particular problem have been
unproductive.
System details:
Flash v8 (same problem with v9)
Add-in for MS Internet Explorer
After prior upgrade to v9, Firefox had same behavior
Windows 2000 Professional
The Flash add-on generates no Windows Application Log events
System Log shows no abnormal events when freezing of video
occurs
No new or unidentifiable processes run when freeze occurs

impossible to play satisfactorily. I would not advise wasting your
time with the newer version.
I thank delagare and others, and have taken their advice, not
to waste time and risk my system's integrity by innumerable
installs and uninstalls, in the hope of getting a piece of flaky
software to work. I have saved hours by reading the news and not
bothering to click on Adobe's videos! My downgrade to Flash 8
remains on my hard drive, and even with all the information posted
here there is zero response, at least any directed to me as a
registered forum user, from Adobe techical support. What more can
one say??
If this is of any help, this very same re-installation of
Flash 8 has apparently started to work again, and I can think of
only one change in my system between this software working so
poorly as to be unusable, and its present recovery. I have
installed a program that alters the way any program running as a
child process of the browser accesses the hard drive. This program
was designed to "sandbox Internet Explorer" and is therefore named
"Sandboxie." This software obviously has other advantages, as
explained at
this program's web site, where
a freeware version may be downloaded. If in fact Sandboxie
is the reason for Flash 8 beginning to work, the freeware
version should be enough to pull the trick.
If any responsible person from Adobe cares to read this,
please understand that in the total absence of any official
response to these prior posts or their authors, I have reached the
only conclusion I can: that there is in fact something wrong with
the way the program accesses the hard drive that causes these
problems, and as delgare explained, Adobe's advising Flash users to
go through innumerable installs and uninstalls does nothing.
If any of the posters in the thread are still being notified,
try this "kludge" for Flash 8 and post back here if it works. It
would be very interesting to hear should it also work for Flash 9.
The system details of the my installation have not changed and
should appear earlier in the thread. -
Fireworks Crashes / Freezes When Using the Text Tool
Mac Octocore > OSX 10.6.1
Master Collection > Fireworks CS4
First I noticed the text box shift. Then Fireworks CS4 would freeze during any of the following:
• Resize grouped text
• Move text box
• Click on text box to edit with type tool
• Double-click on text box to edit with pointer tool
So I started a brand new file, but encountered the same outcome. Thus, Fireworks CS4 is currently useless if text is needed. I can create vector based objects, but just clicking on the canvas (or clicking the font menu) with the text tool freezes Fireworks CS4 instantly. I've had similar issues with Fireworks CS3 edition, but if I started a new file, I was at least able to use the text tool again and type. Now, I can't even recreate the file. I have to abandon Fireworks and use a combination of Photoshop and Illustrator before my timeline becomes even further behind.
I'm at a complete loss.

Applications freezing, won't sleep, won't shutdown
I've only had minor problems with Leopard, but have become quite concerned of late.
Over the past few weeks, Skype (older version 2.x??) would suddenly freeze with the beach ball, and nothing would make it shut down. I would try force quit without success. Went into activity monitor, but it wasn't even being shown there. It was, however, still showing as being open on the dock.
I have to use skype everyday at work, so sometimes I would continue plugging away on the internet, then Safari would start to freeze and I'd have the same problems with quitting Safari. I'd manually force a reboot by holding down the power button, and usually i'd be sorted out.
I'd be fine and then a few weeks later this mysterious behaviour would reappear. I downloaded 10.5.8, then Safari 5.0.6, and decided to get the new version of skype 5.2
Things seemed fine until today when these same symptoms reappeared. This time, however, they seem worse.
1. skype would sometimes merely bob up and down when i tried to open it. when it did open, it would freeze upon receiving a message
2. safari would then (sometimes) follow suit. freezing up. sometimes it didn't (i rebooted using power button numerous times today)
3. i tried to open itunes and it would bob up and down without opening. on another occasion it did open, but when i tried to play a song it froze.
4. when things *seemed* to be running smoothly, the fan would be whirring away...even though I only had MS Word open.
5. Again force quit would do nothing. Skype would never show up in activity monitor, despite showing on dock as still being open. itunes, however would show up in activity monitor and i coudl quit.
6. other applications (i checked for new software, for example) would randomly freeze adn general operations were sluggish.
7. After a cold reboot, I tried to logout again without having opened any applications and it would merely hang and not logout/restart/shutdown. I went into activity monitor again to kill login to see if that woudl work, but again it would just hang.
8. when it appeared to be running normally (minus the whirring fan), i closed the lid to put the computer to sleep, but it did not sleep.
Those are the symptoms. I've tried:
-repairing permissions
-trashing skype
-clearing cache (system/kernel)
using onyx for various other cleanups
but the problem persisted.
Verifying disk said all was ok. unfortunately, I do NOT have my original disks with me. I am currently overseas (to where I would normally call home and foolishly did not bring).
I hadn't tinkered with anything nor downloaded anything odd.
running 10.5.8 on MacBook. 2.2GHz 2GB memory have over 10% of free disk space available.
if anyone has any ideas, would appreciate it.
A big clue, perhaps....I decided to log into my Admin account, and safari is acting fine, adn the fan is not going crazy. not sure about skype, as i keep this account pretty bare, but shall try downloading later and report back. Will also post a log of when itunes froze
Thank you !i've returned home now and everything seems to be fine again. strange!
I read a different thread in which someone described a problem of applications not shutting down, and thinking it had to do with his wireless connection.
that sounds too bizzarre to be true, but that's the only thing that's changed from when i was at work until now at home. -
[Solved]Freeze using flash in Firefox / Seamonkey or in Tuxracer.
Hi,anyone know how to sort this problem ? .
Updated the graphics and sound cards sometime ago and get the occasional freeze with certain apps;
I can use Tuxracer or flash media on Youtube for;
less than 3 minutes using the 4x Radeon 7000 graphics card and 4-1 C-media 8738 sound card.
about 10 minutes if i revert the sound back to the onboard chip but retain the radeon graphics.
constantly,ie no problem with flash media,if i revert the graphics back to the SiS onboard graphics but then Tuxracer will only run at 4fps as of no acceleration from the sis driver.
When i do get a freeze this machine seems not to respond to anything. The screen will not change and ctrl+alt+backspace has no affect. The keyboard is in fact working though and successive ctrl+alt+delete will shut at least the hard drive down safely. No file sys errors on reboot.
Cannot find any errors in the /var/log files. The original Arch installation was when using the Radeon graphics and C-media sound.
No other problems apparent.Arch and hardware work great otherwise.BTW had same problem in Ubuntu before Arch.
Best Wishes from a happy Arch user.Chris.
Last edited by clodhopper (2008-12-12 23:04:10)Many thanks Shazeal and Inkaine for your reply's,Problem is solved.
It was the cpu overheating that caused the problem.Cleaning then reseating the cpu cooler with new heat transfer paste went most of the way and fitting a more powerful fan finished the job off.Can play games or flash movies on Youtube endlessly. So particular thanks Shazeal.
What misled me was that i thought it was a graphics or sound freeze only.No it was a total freeze. On the last of 20/30 hardware button reboots following the freeze i booted into a live cd and ran fsck from there which indicated 'rebuilding journal'.So what have i learned...
1)If you cannot find a solution that works then ask a question.
2)Arch GNU/Linux is very strong to withstand all i have done to it over the last few days.
3)Arch rebuilds a faulty file system very quick indeed!!.
4)Take 'quiet' off my Grub menu list Kernel options.
5)My motherboard heat sensor chip is probably reading low.
Once Again,many thanks,
Chris, clodhopper by handle and clodhopper by nature. -
I just use Fireworks 8, Fireworks CS3 always freezes after batching 30 files or so on a 4 gig machine. I'm able to take advantage of a transparent BG in PSD or PNG and insert a bg layer and foreground layer, then export to a jpeg.
I haven't been able to figure out how to do the same in Photoshop. Fireworks batch just seems so much easier.
Here's what I need to be able to do:
Select certain files in a directory (50+), add a back ground layer and move it to the bottom, add a foreground watermark and move it to the front, then export each file as the same file name but with in a jpeg format to my specified output directory. In fireworks this is easy, but I'd like to fully convert over to photoshop.[email protected] wrote:

Have you tried doing this with an action?

What is causing my macbook pro to hard freeze?
My 2011 15" MacBook Pro started hard freezing recently a couple months ago. The screen goes black and the computer seems to be stuck on a loop. If music is playing, it will repeat the same second of music over and over until I hold the power button. Sometimes I can even hear the sounds from inside the computer (the sounds of the hard drive spinning?) repeat at the same frequency.
It was rare at first but became much more frequent (once a day) and I finally decided that maybe an update from Leopard to Lion would help. So I updated but the problem is still getting worse. It is now freezing a few times a day, sometimes only minutes after starting back up following a freeze.
It does seem to be linked to activity, that is, the more I'm doing, the more likely it is to freeze. But I can skype for hours and hours with no problems even though the fans are running high and the computer seems to be working hard, and then try to preview a pdf on my desktop and it freezes.
If the update to Lion didn't help at all, what else can I do? Could this be a hardware problem?Ok, so I looked through the system.log and couldn't see any obvious error messages but here's everything that happened after I woke my computer from Sleep and before the crash:

As for the System Diagnostic Reports, there are tons of them (mostly .panic, 2 .hang and 1 .crash). Most of them start with "Kernel," one Firefox and one Thunderbird.
Anyway, the most recent (Kernel_....panic):

Hello, hoping that someone might be able to shed some light on this. Everytime I use the iSight Camera (which is almost never), after about 3-5 seconds the image just freezes. If using Photo Booth, I can take a picture following the freeze, but is does not reset the camera, and the photo taken is of the frozen picture. I have also tried iMovie, and the same freeze occurs. Additionally, the green light stays lit even after the freeze.
Any suggestions?
MacBook Pro 2.0 Mac OS X (10.4.8)I don't know if this will help, especially if you're using the built-in iSight. I have an iSight running a Java script (EvoCam) web stream (http://elsci.coe.nau.edu). The iSight freezes every week or two. After many hours of messing with settings, I've found that if I disconnect the firewire cable anywhere between the server and the iSight, it'll start working just fine. With the built-in iSight, I don't know what you'd do.
Good luck. -

Today, after I restarted following a freeze, the machine made a very loud fan-type noise. I turned if off, let it "rest" for 1/2 hour, and when I restarted the noise was gone.
This is some more information about the machine. 20-inch, Mid 2007,
Memory 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM,
