SL300 - Ultranav Driver, EasyEject utility, Presentation Director

Hi,
I have problems getting the touchpad to work and quite few other features after installing win7.
Right now the UltraNav driver wont install, tried both versions:

I installed the UltraNav Utility, got no errors on this install:

Anyone else having troubles getting the driver to work on a SL300?
I also cant find a compatible driver for EasyEject and Presentation Director - any tip on where i can find one or when it might be released, would be awesome

Will these work on win 7? Should i install them when they are noted as compatible with vista?

it could be that "the UltraNav utility enables the Fn-F8 shortcut when used in conjunction with the ThinkPad Hot Key Utility". Or it may provide "more fluid and comfortable crusor [sic] movement" (Googelberged from notebookreview forum).
Another possibility could be, that it enables more detailed configuration of the touch pad.

Presentation Director and Access Connections when Docking

When I dock my machine, it automatically selects the right presentation mode because of the way that I configured Presentation Director. It would be nice if it could automatically select the right Access Connection too. Is this possible? Is there a way to select docking actions like there is a way to select eject options?

in case you update Access Connection, you must already have also following updates installed:
- Power Management driver
- Power Manager
-Hotkey utility
- System interface driver
- Wifi driver <for AC 5.x it must be 13.x version>
<all of course with the latest version>
Once this all is installed, you can install AC .
Let me know, if you have also the latest version of the above driver/updates on the system prior to the installation of AC .In case not, just remove AC, install the above mentioned updates and then install AC 5.x

64 bit version of Ultranav driver not available for download

Using either Update Retriever or System Update, version 7.202.1616.206 of the ThinkPad UltraNav Driver 2 (Alps) 64 bit is missing from the System Update catalogue. Package ID: 6EGY02WW is not presented. Only the 32 bit version (Package ID: 6EGX02WW) is available.
           It can be downloaded and manually installed from the driver matrix, but you would have to realize that there was a more recent version available that System Update had not installed, and go looking for it. This update applies to machine types:
           -        R61 (Machine types: 8914, 8918, 8919, 8920, 8927, 8928, 8929, 8930, 8932, 8933, 8934, 8935, 8936, 8937)
           -        R61i (Machine types: 8918, 8932)
           -        R500

Hi Stormycloud,
The problem is resolved. Today, on both of my R500 machines, Update Retriever informed me that the 64 bit version of the Ultranav utility was available for download. On both of my machines I then downloaded the driver. I was then able to use System Update to install the driver. Thank-you. Case closed.

Presentation Director

I have a T41 and have attached it to a Sony WEGA TV. I can get the the systems linked but the picture is black and white only.
Since I want to review photos on the TV, how do I get color?

Presentation Director is not supported for use with Windows 7, so that is why you are unable to run it.
Win 7 has presentation facilities built-in, so does not require an additional utility.

Presentation Director loses settings when switching between Chinese and English

I've done the "Install files for East Asian languages" and then set the "Language for non-Unicode programs" to "Chinese (PRC)". I do this for our presales people so they can show our prospects that our software is translated (for those that have plants in China and the US). I have the default language set to English. I don't believe it's relevant but I should also mention that this is on a Lenovo T61 with XP-SP3.
When I use the Presentation Director (Fn+F7) most of the screen shows in Chinese. The ones I've added show in English (I have a screen snapshot). I also get Chinese characters in other Lenovo utilities as well.
So I figured I'd just change the "Language for non-Unicode programs" back to English, reboot, and the display would be OK. Not so! The display is in English all right, but NOTHING appears in the window - none of the default settings, none that I added, JUST NOTHING! I have a snapshot of this as well.
I changed the Unicode setting back to Chinese, reboot, and Presentation Director shows all of them still there, some in Chinese and some in English like before.
Does anyone have any ideas how I can get the Presentation Director utility to display properly (in English) and show all the original settings as well? Obviously the settings are stored somewhere since when Chinese is turned on it can display them.

Missing schemes in Presentation Director

After installing Presentation Director 4.07, I was shocked to discover all the display schemes missing. I've tried adding new schemes but the program doesn't seem to recognize the notebook LCD display - I'm unable to set the resolution or color depth.
However, I can still project to an external monitor/projector by setting the Fn+F7 option to "Switch the display output from Notebook LCD to external monitor to both (and then repeat)".
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling but that didn't solve the issue. I've also attempted to update my display drivers, install Lenovo System Interface Driver, and even rolling back to version 4.03, but none of this managed to remedy the problem.
I'm using an X200 running on Windows XP Pro.
Would appreciate any advice I can get. Thanks in advance!

I updated it through TVSU the first time round. When it didn't work, I uninstalled it and installed 4.03 but it didn't function as well. So, I went to the Lenovo support site to download the 4.07 update, thinking that there might be an issue with the update through SU, but to my dismay, that failed as well. And as far as I know, there is one other user in this forum that has faced the same issue after updating to 4.07.
I have exhausted every possible solution that I could have thought of, short of reformatting which is something I'm not contemplating, but nothing seems to be able to resolve the issue. Is there a diagnostics tool, capable of generating an analysis report of some sort, that I could run on my PC so that you can better understand the issue?

Presentation Director Monitor Drop Down Menus Blank

I'm trying to get Presentation Director functioning properly, but there are a couple of screwy things going on:
If I check the properties of the "Capture" profile, it has the resolution of external monitor incorrect. (1920 x 1200 Vs Captured 1024X768). Yes, even after re-capturing.
When I go to edit a profile, the drop-down menus for both the built-in LCD and external monitor for resolution and color quality are blank. Both the standing values and the contents of the drop-downs are blank.

Got rid of nvidia NView crapware, but the NVidia desktop manager is still present. It actually recognizes the proper resolutions for each display, but doesn't have any good way of quickly switching display setups like PD does.
Any suggestions?

I assumed you were running XP. This video driver persistency feature is implemented on XP as well as Vista/Win7. I don't know why the PD settings are blank.
For your first two scenarios, you should be able to configure that one time manually and then have the video driver automatically remember the settings as you connect and disconnect the display. First, with no monitor connected, configure the TPLCD how you want it. Then connect the monitor and configure both it and the TPLCD how you want them. Then disconnect the monitor and the TPLCD should automatically revert to the settings you specified when the monitor wasn't connected. Then reconnect the monitor and the settings for both monitor and TPLCD should revert to the settings you specified when the monitor was connected previously. Have you tried it? This is a very common configuration scenario that I know many customers are using successfully without the assistance of PD or any other software.
For your last two scenarios, you will just need to experiment to see if the the persistency works or not, like I said it depends on how old the projectors are. If it doesn't work, or if you are frequently connecting to different projectors, then you should be able to use PD for the projector ONLY! don't try to use PD to control the TPLCD.

T42 LCD is dark, external monitor sometimes works, Presentation Director seems worthless

On Friday, my LCD went dark. When I looked really hard, I could see all the screens that I'd been working with, but I couldn't bring them to light. If I shut the cover and waited for the machine to suspend itself, then opened the cover, I'd get the LCD back, for 10-15 minutes. Then the LCD would go dark again.
When I connected the T42 to an external screen, the LCD contents appeared on the other screen, and then the the LCD came back. While I had screen(s), I did a bunch of system updates (from Lenovo) and ran PCDoctor several times. Everything checked out.
When I disconnected the external drive, I lost the LCD again. I tried to work with the Presentation Director, but the T42 just doesn't want to obey. The Fn F7 keys are working inconsistently. I am in doctoral student hell, facing (what feel like) already impossible deadlines and I have to get this thing working. Does anybody have any suggestions?

T400 XP Presentation Director Problem

I just did a clean install of XP on T400, and could not get Presentation Director to work.
Whenever I was trying to apply or test a scheme (even the "Captured display settings" with no external monitor), I got this error message "The following settings you have selected cannot be applied properly. Change the setting and try again.
Display Configuration".
I suspect there was a conflict between Presention Director and Catalyst Control Center.(CCC could control the displays without problem.)
The lenovo ATI driver was just released in March, while the PD was released last year.
Could that be a problem? I am reluctant to downgrade to old ATI driver. Did Lenovo not test their drivers for compatibilty before release?
If anyone has solved similar problems before, please advise.

Been there, but its been a while, and although I can't give you an exact step-by-step solution, I hope given the urgency on your side that I can point you in a direction you haven't gone or gone far enough in. I fixed the same nagging problem by working with both the basic and Advanced menus at: Desktop Right-Click>Display Properties>Settings. In particular check all settings for both displays in the tabs of the Advanced menu. It is a careful process to be sure you check the properties of EACH monitor and not just run through them once which will apply for just the default monitor. The cause in my case was a conflict of a setting between the Presentation Director and the Display Settings. You may do best if you nix the presentation director while getting the settings sorted out. Also, ATI has a great display management program similar to Windows' Presentation Director. I am sorry to be strapped on time as I write this. You may have been through everything I suggest, but I do hope something I wrote helps you get it fixed. I'll check back when possible today. TSRing

Put Win 7 on the G 41. Lost the Presentation Director. Is Lenovo working on a download to work with Win 7 for that OR is there 3rd party software to take its place? The generic driver Win 7 installs will not recognize the second screen (digital video projector).

Whoa, someone with the exact same T61 model as me. I too have a 7662-CTO, and I own a Samsung SyncMaster 205BW (20inch widescreen monitor with native 1680 x 1050 resolution).
I have experienced no problems is displaying 1680x1050 with the Nvidia Quadro 140M. I haven't installed any special monitor driver file, but maybe your Samsung model needs one?
Judging from the pictures you posted, I would try the monitor config settings on the monitor itself. Can you try to adjust the picture there? Also, what exactly are the steps you using to get the output? I typically have just done it within videos where I select the external display and say "extend desktop to external monitor" and then slide the resolution setting to 1680x1050 and it comes up fine.

Presentation Director - Docked?

I have noticed that in Presentation Director there is a section in the settings labelled:
"When notebook is docked."
"Immediately apply this Scheme..."
However, this section of the options is always greyed out for me, so I cannot select that option. They option is unavailable regardless if the laptop is in the docking station or not.
How do you use this docking feature with presentation director?

To move mouse from left to right, make sure Display 1 is on the left side in the Display properties.
To undock, Press the Undock button on the Docking station and wait until Laptop goes into Sleep Mode and undocked. Press power button to put into normal mode.

Presentation Director 4.07

I am told that my ThinkPad T60 needs a Presentation Director in order to function the way it was designed to.
Where do I find this Driver (7vua49ww.exe ?)? Lenove does not offer this s/w on their website for some reason.
Has the driver been superceeded by another, like Smart Keys or some such?
Who can tell me what should be used for the Presentation Director?
My T60 has an ATI X1400 chip and it was they who said I needed the PD.

T60 - thinkpad ultranav driver is not detected

My O.S is Windows XP-32
Upon installation completion I was asked to restart the Laptop.
But upon windows boot, the mouse pad is not working. Only the red mouse is working .
I tried <Fn+F8>. It did not make a difference .
From this link I also installed: UltraNav Wizard for Windows 2000/XP".
When I ran the wizard I got the message:
thinkpad ultranav driver is not detected
In the device manager, under "Mice and other pointing devices", there is only PS/2 mouse.

Ultranav Driver 16.2.14.0 needs TWO reboot to function

I just want to report the following things about the latest Ultranav driver 16.2.14.0:
1. Thankfully, the non-working middle-click button bug (when set to "None"), is resolved. Previously in the last few drivers it wasn't working properly. It pretty much meant removing the middle button from my laptop, since it was forced to scrolling mode because of some bug and I simply couldn't middle click. I was forced to use driver from Synaptics to fix it. Glad now I can use Lenovo driver!
2. However there is a bug with this driver, that it needs TWO restarting to function. Upon the first restart, Fn + F8 gives an error, and the TrackPoint sensitivity is always set to hardest, and no matter what you set in this windows session, it will disappear upon the next reboot.
After the 2nd reboot, it works perfectly. Fn + F8 opens the moust dialog (no utility software installed), and the settings function properly.
Using a W520

Hello noochi01,
I found another "problem" in my first XP installation... some years ago I learned to press F5 during the first WinXP setup screen (where it says "press F6 for storage controller...") in order to manually select "ACPI-PC" as the PC type. Otherwise sometimes the non-ACPI HAL would be installed due to some crappy ACPI BIOSes which results in the "You may now switch off the computer" message instead of power down.
This manual ACPI-PC selection was what I also did when I first setup XP SP3 on the T61p... now I noticed the machine runs on only one of the 2 CPU cores. Cause is that the selection of "ACPI-PC" will install the uniprocessor XP kernel:-/
So I now did another clean setup with selecting "ACPI multiprocessor PC" => multiprocessor kernel is installed and both CPU cores are used. With this setup I don't have problems with either the original UltraNav 13.x driver or the Ricoh SD/MMC host controller driver.
I'm very unsure if the uniprocessor kernel in the first installation caused these driver problems or if I simply installed the drivers in a different sequence this time... but there's no freeze until now.
Can you check if both CPU cores are active on your machine? E.g. the Windows task manager shows two graphs for CPU usage, two frequencies are shown in System Properties etc.?
btw: The 3.57.01 Ricoh drivers from the ASUS website seem to work well for the ThinkPads with that Ricoh 4-in-1-controller: http://dlsvr.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/Drivers/Cardreader/CardReader_Ricoh_VT_090513.zip
I don't know why Lenovo did never release that driver update?! On the Ricoh page there are no downloads for "industrial products"... and that controller seems already outdated.
