SL500 & NetWorker licensing

We are planning on migrating to a new tape library (going from 2 x StorageTek L100s w/ 4 HP LTO3 drives to a StorageTek SL500 w/ 4 IBM LTO4 drives) and I have a few questions on how it will effect the NetWorker software we're using. We currently have a 128-slot Autochanger license for NetWorker, but we are planning to upgrade to a 400-slot license. However, the SL500 has 494 slots, which if I am correct, this will not satisfy NetWorker because it will see all available slots and want a Autochanger license that will cover all 494. I remember that the L100s allowed me to change the number of slots it reported to the server, does the SL500 have that option or does is that based on the actual library license that was installed at initial configuration? Another option is I suppose we might be able to disconnect one of the three Cartridge Expansion Modules to have the SL500 report 375 slots instead of 494? How will this affect the library license that is currently installed?

Have you gotten an answer for this? I'm in a similar boat. We don't need all the slots that are available in the sl500 yet, so we want to limit the number of slots available to networker.

After a silent install of Circuit Design Suite you still have to manually tell it the network license details. Is there a silent install for this too?

There are a couple of reasons you might see this error:
1. Make sure when you are creating the network installer, you are pointing to the root of the CD, containing setup.exe.
2. There was an issue with the first release of the network installer that would cause this error. The issue was resolved with a maintenance release.

Some times it is as easy as configuring the client (ensuring it is Unix) and having it assigned to the appropriate schedule/pool/etc, some times you will have to specify a specific schedule, client, server in your RMAN create channel env='{..... ]' parameters. It's usually the rman channel parameters. If you can't figure it out have a look at EMC/Legato's website.

Prime Network License Adding Procedure

Recently we installed prime network 3.10 in local HA environment with RHCS,
after that we bought a set of license include base, standby and RTMs for 7600 routres, when licenses and media kits are arrived it contains 2 PAK numbers with same partnumber contents,
I registered one of the PAKs in site with the MAC address and hostname of primary server, but i'm confused for the second PAK, do i need to register the second PAK with the primary MAC address and hostname again or i should register that with the secondary server MAC address and hostname?

You would need the "Assurance License" to be able to get the netflow data from your devices on Prime Infrastructure (PI).

Autodesk Maya network licenses do not work on Lion

Does not connect to the license server. The server is Windows Maya is on Macs. Not problem with previous versions of Maya.

You'll probably need to contact Autodesk support on this issue. But hey provide some tips on sorting out licensing issues here that might help, though I don't know if those apply to the newer versions of Maya (only Maya 2013 is officially supported on Lion):

How to use a MATLAB license with password peotection?

I am using a MATLAB network license, which is password protected, so when I use a MATLAB script node LabVIEW can't load the proper MATLAB license and fails.
How can I submit the username+password info to LabVIEW?

Unfortunately the functionality is not in place for LabVIEW to pass your username and password into MATLAB for you. Is it possible to log into MATLAB and then run your LabVIEW application?

How do i install and run labview from a local network?

How do I install a single copy of labview on our local network. Are their any special licences needed for this?

I assume you would need a license for each computer which will be using LabVIEW to develop code. Their may be a network license, but I am not familiar with one. I would contact NI just to be sure (612.683.0100). It's better that you tell them than they figure it out!

Hosting Vivado Design Edition Licenses on Solaris 10 ?

Our previous Vivado Design Edition network licenses (v2014.12) were issued in Jan 2014 for a Solaris 8 HOSTID.
The legacy server on which these licenses are hosted is scheduled to be decommissioned this year, and I'm trying to rehost them to a (supported) Solaris 10 server on-site.
I'm finding, however, at the Xilinx licensing support web site that our (on-maintenance) Vivado Design Edition licenses are now listed as Activation type licenses, but Solaris 10 doesn't appear to be an available license server platform for Vivado Design Edition.
1) Is Certificate type licensing no longer available for Vivado Design Edition ? We have other Certificate type licenses that need to be hosted on-site on our Solaris 10 server.
2) If Certificate type licensing is NOT available for Vivado Design Edition, can our licenses be hosted on VM Linux server off-site (in a corporate data center) ?
3) Do the site-based (Certificate type) IP licenses need to be hosted on the same server as the Vivado Design Edition licenses ?
My preference is to keep all the Xilinx licenses for the site together on the local Solaris 10 server.

First of all, Solaris OS is an unsupported OS. Use supported OS mentioned in ug973.

[Answer] Yes, Activation licenses are available starting from Vivado 2014.1.
Note: Certificate licenses for Vivado are provided under specific considerations.

[Answer] Yes, you can rehost your activation license on VM. Again use a supported OS on VM for hosting activation licenses.

[Answer] 1. You can host both IP certificate type and Vivado activation licenses on the same server. OR

Vijay,
Installation and use of software is governed by the End User's License Agreement (EULA) or more currently, the Microsoft Software License Terms. The basic term in that agreement is "One copy per device". So if you buy two licenses you can only
legally install it on two machines. Generally, for a single user, that user may install the software on a licensed device (e.g. PC) and another copy on a portable device (e.g. laptop) that is only used by that user.
If you wish to use Project on multiple devices or on a network, you will need to contact Microsoft directly as Rob suggested.

Windows on bootcamp keeps restarting the computer and take me back to windows

on my macbook air i have a partition for boot camp and windows 7 pro is installed on it. today i decided to install autodesk maya mac version on my mac which really has nothing to do with windows or boot camp ,but after installation was done ,when i was going to install the network license manager , the computer had to restart to finish the installation process,instead of booting in mac it booted in windows and when i tried to restarted and keep it in mac ,it didn't let me to stay in mac for more than 2 seconds and started the booting process again by itself and took me back to windows again.
this process went on and on ,no matter what i do ,it does not let me stay in mac .Even i decided to get rid of the bootcamp and windows altogether and say **** with it (as i did 8 years ago) but it does not let meenogh time to do this and get rid of that .I really have no idea what else to do .i did google the problem ,but obviously nobody else had this kind of problem ,so google was no help.please help me in this matter and let me know what i can do .I have no prblem of uninstalling the bootcamp ,if no other option is left .

yes i can start into osx . but as i mentioned i just let me stay there only 2 seconds , and after that restarts by itself.
i just noticed that may be safari is the cause of all this . i just changed the startup disk ,and now mac is the start up disk ,but again after 2 seconds the rebooting process starts automatically and does not let me do anything .

I've just ordered an iMac Intel and I want to use it from my home to work on my Mac G5 at my office, not just to copy files but to actually run programs on the G5, sort of like "Go to My PC" works with PCs.

Yeah... what you desire is possible, but it's a huge pain. Unless you're really friendly with the network dudes at your office and you have some sort of licensing scheme that accommodates VPN access and networked licensing, this probably won't happen. Shoot, even if you DO have VPN and all of that, this particular type of setup is tricky. I've used SSH to tunnel certain programs between two computers (usually in the same subnet, not miles apart), and it's cool... but rather slow.
If your time is valuable, I'd weigh it against the cost of purchasing the desired software.

I cannot install it because I already have 32-bit installed and it wants me to un-install Microsoft Office 2010. Why? Because it is 32-bit? And I can't do that because this is what we have and what we're licensed for and from what I've read seems to be the
industry standard because most software vendors are ill equipped to process 64-bit right now.

If the excel version in the Connection Manager is Microsoft Excel 2010 (.xlsx), we should use Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB provider.
We can't install 32bit and 64bit parts of office on the same machine. We will get an error as you said when we run the installer to install the 64bit version of the Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable in the machine where a 32bit version
of Microsoft Office installed. To fix this issue, please download and install the 32bit version of the Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable with the link below:

Getting backup using "backint for Oracle" to work

We are trying to get the backups to work on MaxDB 7.6 using the backint for Oracle interface.
I have created an environment/config file and set the variable NSR_ENV. The contents of this file is as follows:
NSR_HOST cmsapapp01.csenergy.com.au
NSR_HOME "C:\Program Files (x86)\Legato\nsr\bin"
NSR_POOL SAPData
NSR_EXPIRE year
NSR_EBIDTYPE NSAVETIME

I have created a backup media with the following options:
Backup Type: Full Backup
Device Type: PIPE
Backup Tool: NSR
Device File: c:\temp\file.pipe0
When I run this, I get the following error:

 save: VSS Enabler is requested from NetWorker License Manager.

Am I doing something wrong...

Windows installer engine error when installing LV 8.2.1

Trying to install LabView 8.2.1 on a system and getting a "Window Installer Engine" error and the program quits. The software successfully installed on another system.
I have disabled all other programs and virus scanners. Any suggestions?

I think I may have fixed my own problem and will try and list the steps here in case anyone else runs into this.
The computer is networked and we are running network licensing. I have admin priviledges also on this machine.
We had to have the administrator for the network log on (with the LV installation CD in the drive). The option was selected to install LV 8.2.1 and then a window appeared notifiying that the system was installing Service Pack 2.
The admin then logged out and I logged back in to my local accout (not my network username and passwor) and the installed worked correctly (whew!).
There were some other password issues whick I don't think were related to this problem.
