SL510 freezes at BIOS

Hi all, I have seen similar issues on the forum but not one like this. Here is my situation when powering on I get the ERROR 0199: System Security – Security password retry count exceeded. It immediately goes into BIOS and then the computer freezes. My keyboard does not respond so I can not save/edit any bios settings and am stuck. I have tried using a USB keyboard but this also does not work. I have also tried a different hard drive but the same issue happens. And help would be appreciated!

  • My Equium A300D freezes at BIOS

    Anyone help with this one?
My Equium A300d originally froze at the Bios splash screen.I eventually replaced both the ram and hdd but still the same problem. By trial and error i discovered that the problem was the dvd drive.......remove it and the system loads fine, put it back in and back to the freeze at bios!
I replaced the dvd drive wiith a new compatible drive but same result so assume the actual hardware is not the problem so can only assume a motherboard problem?
Anyone come across this scenario? thanks for looking.

Hi - thanks for your response.
    The Bios is Phoenix V2.10
    OS is Windows XP
Your understanding is correct....without the dvd drive in,XP loads fine.
If i then put in the dvd drive nothing happens....no spinning of the drive, no drive light flashing, no system messages.
I don't think its a driver problem as the dvd drive should be picked up using the generic windows driver anyway.Still suspect some sort of power problem on the mobo-but just for the dvd?..... hope not as i'm u/s with mobo's!

  • Lenovo SL510 Freeze

    Hello friends from Greece.
I have lenovo laptop sl 510. I was setup windows 7,drivers and programms correctly.
About a week ago, the machine freeze ten seconds after booting windows 7 in normaly mode. On safe mode works fine.
I have try to setup windows 7 again but it freezes on setup process...
On Lenovo solution center,i have an allert on device manager. Its about ''Security Processor Loader Driver''.
I have try to update intel graphics card driver, but nothing change...
Have anyone idea about this problem??
    Your help please
I also have to say that the laptop has problem with HDD. I replace it with another, setup win 7 and drivers, bought a new disk, run Ghost between disks, and the problem appears...

You could download CCleaner to get rid of the registry issues that might be causing the problems.
What are you using to reinstall Windows 7? The restore discs or the fresh Windows 7 copy?

  • V570 restarts every hour, freezes on BIOS

Just bought the V570 in December, had to send it back after some power issues, now that it's back and I'm having random sudden shutdowns - not BSOD, full power down - to restart, and after restarting, the BIOS screen will usually freeze halfway through loading.  This is all with nothing plugged in but the power.  By unplugging the power I can get a restart that usually freezes on Windows load, and after a hard reset, will load fine.
I have made sure the RAM and HDD connections are secure twice now.  Any further advice is appreciated.  I hope it won't have to spend two weeks in the shop again...

  • Xai steelseries mouse on a GT780DX freezing at bios

Anyone managed to find a work around to stop the boot up freezing at the MSI bios page (running latest bios 1761_10C), system will only continue to boot when mouse is removed!

Quote from: Svet on 30-September-11, 20:22:30
Aha, well then call them back and tell that there is no change and the problem is still persist
Here is the reply from MSI support: Please kkindly follow steelseries's suggestion and not to plug in mouse when trying reboot or power on the laptop
This is a terrible response considering the gt780dx advertises the steelseries on the laptop itself, I would expect all steelseries devices to work!
I personally wouldn't say removing the mouse a fix!
Come on MSI pull your finger out, people spend there hard earned cash on your products only to be advised to removed a device that dosent work!

  • Freezing on Bios config screen

    Stuff:
       MSI Ultra (KT 333)
       450w Power supply.
    Hi,
When I boot up my computer it makes it through the ram count, and reports the hard drives connected, it then shows the AMIBIOS SYSTEM Configuration screen, at which point it freezes. I took out all my cards, except my video card, and removed the hard drives, cd-rom and all that and still get the same results. As mentioned my power supply is 450W, and I also tested it with a 300W power supply that works ok for my friend.
NOTE: This is not the first time I have used this computer, it was working fine for quite a while, until the other day I unplug the printer, causing the computer to freeze. I do a hard reboot and it won’t boot up at all. So I then proceeded to reset the bios(having to take out the battery), and now I have my current problem. Can anyone help please ?

You mentioned the 4 LED's on the D-Bracket being lit, but not what color(s) they are.
Yah, I must have been cracked when I wrote that, all four are green.

If BIOS setup defaults work, but not when FSB is I think 133,
Thats the curious part. On my BIOS(not sure if eveyones is like this or what) it has two settings Default settings and Default High Performance settings. Now upon resetting the BIOS it asks me if I wish to re-load the default settings, or enter the BIOS config and set them myself. Now if i choose to load the default settings it will set the FSB at like 100, and stuff, and it still won't boot. HOWEVER to get it to boot, if i choose to enter the bios setup, but I don't acutaly change anything, just exit, the computer will boot up. The strange part is, if I load the default settings, or just enter the bios, all the values are the exact same...

I will double check my CPU seating when I get home, as for cooling it says my CPU is runing at 39 which it was runing at before when it was working. *shrug*.

Have you had any problems before? What memory do you have?
I have never had a problem like this before, up till this began, it was running great. I have PC2700 generic ram, one 512 meg stick.
As for the PSU amperes and full specs I'll post that as soon as I can, BTW I greatly appreciate the help

  • KT6 Delta Freezing in BIOS

Hello, got a small problem, i'm at work and my mother texts me and says she cant turn on my PC, i get back home and disaster!
The first page of the motherboard info (sorry for not knowing the technical term! ) appears, showing the CPU and OK'ing the RAM and the drives and such, and thats about it, after that it just freezes there.
I have tried clearing the CMOS, but now I just get the lovely 8X logo, and cant see anything, anyone got any ideas on whats broke?
    Specs:
    MSI KT6 Delta
    AMD Athlon XP 3000+ Barton
(ThermalRight  xxxx and Delta xxxxx h/s fan)
512mb Kingston RAM (was on compatibility list when I bought it)
    Antech SL400P 400watt PSU
    Helppp!!

Thank you for the extra input! I had a check on the Internet, and the only thing I can make out is the hard disk is damaged or overheated or loose. The D-bracket code suggests BIOS is unable to find anything to boot from. (As for the reason why the hard disk is damaged, overheating is a good guess, as reboot sometimes fixed things and as you had high temps before.)
And now what!? Well, if it isn't awfully inconvenient, you might use one of the other hard drives for a new install.
Have one of them as Master at the end of the cable coming from IDE slot 1. Don't have anything else there just yet. Have CD or DVD on different cable from slot 2, and if so the CDRW as Master, but don't have more than one initially. Remove PCI cards and USB units, and use just one of the memory sticks if you got several.
Once you get a proper install, installed 4in1 drivers and other mobo drivers, graphics card's drivers, installed antivirus etc, you add the rest of the hardware. If you are careful, add them one at a time, to simplify future troubleshooting.
I might have forgotten something, but please bare in mind Pal is going crazy as he wants to go out.

  • HP Pavilion dv6-3071tx bios freezes after bios flash

I updated my BIOs to http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55299.exe
Now it freezes at the BIOs on boot. I think it's due to a bad flash. I want to reflash it and I've followed the instructions where I place the BIOS file 01448F29.bin onto a usb stick named HP_TOOLS and held down Windows Key + B, however it just stays on a black screen.
How can I flash the BIOs again?

You may be able to flash with usb tool and the cpu that you have.
Do you have an other computer available to download the bios and prepare the usb device?  I think you must if you can read this....
    I've downloaded the liveupdate.exe at http://global.msi.eu/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=bios&maincat_no=1&prod_no=1215
But something tells me thats only working in windows mode =P Maybe you could link me or something? and if I now would try to flash it thru usb wouldn't it be a problem that it freezes in a split second when i start the computer?
I read somewhere about some kind of usb tool but it was for the p35 Platinum and I know playing around with bios isnt the smartest thing =)
You wouldnt know where I can get all this would you? or give me the right direction =)

  • Z97 Gaming 7 keyboard freezes at BIOs

Hi just got the Z97 GAMING 7 motherboard couple of days ago and every time I apply a mild OC my keyboard freezes after 5-10 minutes of staying in the BIOS. Mild OC of 4/4.1GHz with 1.125vcore, for eg., renders my keyboard frozen and I've to press the reset button. This started happening since yesterday. Before this it never used to happen. The lights of the keyboard stays on, it even switches on/off when num lock is pressed, but nothing else responds, like the arrow key don't do anything!!
I'd this a known issue?? I did read some where that msi motherboards send to be having the USB issues but in not a hundred percent sure.

Try to remove OC with >>Clear CMOS Guide<< and see if it works fine then

  • Computer freezes before BIOS after arch linux install

This is my first time installing arch linux, I followed the beginners install guide word for word. However, after the install, my computer gets stuck before the BIOS. It identifies the RAM, GPU, and harddrive (all Diagnostic lights are ok on my MOBO). Before the install it booted fine, but now when I boot it up it wont go to the BIOS screen no matter how many times I press delete. However, when I remove the harddrive it boots to the arch linux install screen on my USB drive perfectly.
I know it is not my hardware because I did many different tests (mem-test, swapped out harddrives, tried 1 stick of RAM in different slots, etc). More importantly, my harddrive is brand new so I know it isn't dead because I could partition it when I was installing arch linux.
    Computer specs:
    AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3700+
    DFI LANPARTY nf4-d
    ATI Radeon x800
    2 GB DDR RAM
    160 GB SSD
I have no idea what the problem is, I must have screwed something up with the bootloader or something. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Try clearing the CMOS settings either by removing the motherboard battery for some minutes or by using the relevant jumper on the motherboard. Check the manual of your motherboard for details.

  • PC freezes at BIOS with new MSI GTX 970 gaming

Went from a Windforce 670 to a MSI GTX 970 gaming, and the PC locks at the startup bios screen. I get 1 beep every 10-15 secs or so.
I've tried reseating the card, memory sticks, checking connections and nothing. If I put the windforce 670 back in, the pc is perfectly fine.
    Specs
    Windows 7 64 Bit
    Intel i7 2600 @ 3.4 GHz
    BIOS AMI 7.14
    DDR3 ram 8gb @ 677mhz
    Corsair GS600 PSU
    Pegasus Corporation 2AC2 mobo

    Hi,
Yes you will need to reinstall Operating System, type the activation key in, install fresh drivers etc. You can save documents, backup anything like installing packages for favourite software (e.g. CCleaner) but all other has to be reinstalled.
I would suggest Z97 PC Mate with i5 4690K, Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO cooler. Personal budget choice but still with decent performane (quad CPU and OC availability). RAM+PSU+Case you currently have should work fine.

  • MSI P67A-C45 with 4x4Gb Corsair Vengeance = random freezes in bios

Ok here is the problem i hope you guys can help me with. I recently bought the following rig:
    - MSI P67A-C45 Motherboard
    - 4x4Gb Corsair Vengeance memory.
    - MSI N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II/OC
    - Core i7 2600K
I am having the following issues:
Whenever i put in all the memory, the PC won't boot, it hangs even in the BIOS (at random pages). Everything seems to run fine (except for a minor detail which i will mention later) with 12 Gb installed (3 dimms that is). I have tried changing the voltage to 1.65v but this doesn't change anything. With 12 Gb (or even only 4Gb) installed there is only one weird thing happening:
Whenever the pc wakes from hibernation i get the following error:
“Your system's firmware did not preserve the system memory map across the hibernation transition. If you proceed with resume, your system could behave in an unexpected manner after resume completes. It is recommended that you save all your data and reboot after system resume finishes. Kindly check for a firmware update with your system vender as it may fix this problem."
Then after clicking resume it says i can't resume from the saved state and that it will be discarded (effectively doing a clean boot of the OS).
Can these two problems be related, and if so, is it a hardware problem or some BIOS settings i can try?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    1. Have you tested your mem sticks individually with memtest ? There is always a chance of a defective module.
    2. Test the mem at 1333. Insert only 2, set it to 1333 manually in the BIOS, save and switch off.  Add all modules and see if it boots.
    3. You may also want to reseat your CPU, whilst it's out, check the CPU contact pads for indentations and see if there are any pins on the socket that are bent.
    1. I have tested with 1 mem stick, then with 2, then 3 and then 4 (memtest from bios seems to be the only thing not crashing with 4 mem sticks). So i have not tested everything individually, but in my opinion this should be thorough enough.
    2. I have done this exact thing but then with 3 mem sticks, only adding the last one when switched off, then turning it back on again. I will try with the two so in dual channel, this might make a bit of a difference.
    3. I have reseated the CPU once, it is not a fun thing with the Big Shuriken cooler i have , i'll try this as a last resort.

  • S10e freezes at BIOS witth USB optical drive connected

    Hey folks,
I have been messing with this for a couple days and thought I'd post this here for any input.
I have been using my s10e mainly for work (and play at work lol) and it's turning out to be very fun and useful.
I had to break down and get a portable DVD drive for it and got one for an OK price. It's an IO Magic IDVD8P and is powered by USB. I plugged it in and started burning right away - it worked fine in Windows.
The first couple days I only plugged it in after Windows had been booted. I was at work today and put the s10e on the desk, plugged in the drive and powered on. The computer hung at the Lenovo logo (BIOS boot logo) and refused to go any further. Pushing F2 did take me into setup, but it took about 15-20 seconds for setup to come up where normally its instant.
There's not much to change in these BIOS but I took the drive out of the boot sequence and tried again but it hung again. I waited about 5 minutes to see if it would boot at all and it didn't. As soon as I unplugged the USB drive's data cable, it instantly started booting again.
I can plug the drive in after it has POSTed and it works fine, but having it hang like that is annoying and I think I'm going to return this drive. Any ideas here? Neither my USB flash drives or hard disks do this...
Are there any USB drives that you folks use that work flawlessly?
    Thanks

Hi.  Try this to see if it works (i don't have an optical usb drive, so I can't verify):
When computer boots up, press F12 (Fn + F11) to bring up the boot order menu.  You should be able to select the HDD from there as the boot-up disk.
Also, in the BIOS Boot Order menu (which you can also access from the above Boot Order menu), you can select a drive to exclude from the boot order list.  From the instructions on the right side of the BIOS Boot Order menu, it looks like you hit "X" to exclude the highlighted drive.  This should prevent the selected drive from attempting to be the boot drive.
Please let me know if this works.
    Thanks
    John
