SLED Without batch management

Hello Gurus
How to implement Shelf life expire data concept with out batch management .
How to identify stocks , only based on Shelf life in Inventory managment ?
Any input will be highly appreciated
Thanks
Nick

Thanks for your input
Hi,Biju
Qn for you : Suppose if i receive 100 today with sled life 60 days , and tomorrow 100 with sled life 60 days, means total stock is 200.
How we came to know which stock contains 60 days and 59 days as on today. MMBE report will show 200 only, what we are going to gain by this ?
How a user knows about the SLED life ,In our case Date of Production and date of receipt will be same
Thank your Jürgen L. , Your point is valid
Without batch management it is unmanageable.
Is it any way to distinguish the stock by SLED life without batch managment ?
Is it possible to pull the delivery BY SLED days using FIFO  through Inventory managment ?
Thanks for the valuable discussion

  • BBD / SLED in EWM without Batch Management ?

    Hi
Can we have BBD / SLED functionality in EWM without Batch Management ?
The products are not batch managed but Best Before Date Or Shelf Life expiration is required.
    Regards / Vinod Sedani

    Hi Vinod.
Yes, it's possible to work with BBD / SLED without Batch Management.
You can find more relevant information in:

  • Shelf Life without batch Management

    HI.. Experts
Without batch management can I able to enable the shelf life option pls guide me

    Hi
You can enable the Shelf life expiration option without batch management also, but its of no use.
When you activate SLED with out batch you cannot track the Shelf life expiry date anywhere.
When we activate batch management, while doing the delivery for SD,etc based on SLED,etc the batch can be shorted and picked. If we do not have batch management then the system picks the material randomly not based on SLED,etc.

  • Stock ageing report without Batch Management

    Hi Gurus,
My client wants a Stock ageing report. But my concern here is can we achieve this  without batch management
According to my client, Inventory ageing report should  show stock quantities and stock value as follows,
    1. Below one year
    2. Between one and two years
    3. Above two years
We can accumulate the goods receipt as per Material document date and movement type according to the above age requirement.
But, can we track goods issues from the above age groups without Batch Management.
Experts Pls reply and If possible, pls explain how we can achieve this.
    Thanks
    NDS

As you already noticed not only the input (GR) but the output (GI) is also important.
The date of the GR is only one thing, but after that you received the goods in your SLoc you cannot make difference between stocks received at different times.
As your stock is not distinguished in the system as per the GR date you cannot say that which sub-stock has been consumed during GI.
So, without batch management you cannot achieve your goal in standard system.
Of course, physically you can realize your idea by putting labels on different batches - this would mean batch management physically and not in SAP.
If you use warehouse management you can use a workaround: the GR date is stored in the quants and this makes possible to track the age of the stock without batch management. Please check:

  • SLED with Batch Management

    HI Gurus,
We are using batch management for the material. At the time of goods receipt i am getting error
Shortfall of 100 days against remaining shelf life in current item (365 Day)
I have read some document and found that SLED calculate from the goods receipt document date with batch management. And i found the days difference error as follow.
For SLED of a batch calculates as follows:
SLED = total shelf life + production date from the goods receipt document.
Total shelf life is 365 day according to material master.  21.11.2012 Minas 365 remaing shelf life =13.11.2011
    From November 2011 to todayu2019s date 21.02.2012. =100 days.
My question is : If system calculate SLED from the goods receipt (current date) for batch management. Then what is the use of enter manufacturing date in Goods Receipt.
And do i need to change manufacturing date to current date every time. even if material not manufactured in today's date (for example manuf in last month)
Please can any one help me to understand the scenario.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Ashish Panchal

    Assume there is a joghurt.
it is produced on February 1 and has 30 days shelf life in material master, so he shelf life expiration date is March 2nd.
if you have a minimum remaining shelf life entered in your material master e.g. 5 days.
    then system actls like this
If you receive this joghurt today (February 21) then you can receive without any error.
but if you want receive this joghurt on February 28, then you get the message "Shortfall of  3  days against remaining shelf life ..."
because your receipt date is withing the minimum remaining shelf life period.
this minimum remaining shelf life shall give you time enough to consume that material. otherwise it is expired before you start using it.
hence a minimum remaining shelf life must be much shorter than the total shelf life. an equal number makes it almost impossible to receive any good.

  • SLED Without Batch?

    1.  Is SLED possible without activating batch management.  If so, what reports are available to monitor materials that have expiration dates?  I can't find a standard report in SAP that doesn't use batch.
    2.  If SLED is NOT possible without activating batch management, then what pieces of batch management must be turned on in order to use SLED?
We want to use SLED for a handful of materials that have an expiration date - things like rubber gaskets.  We want to be able to monitor these materials so we know when they are nearing their expiration dates.  I attempted to use MB5M but no results are returned.
Since we're not producing these items, I don't see where batch management serves any purpose for us.  We're buying the items for use in our plants.  I've configured SLED so that it is active and I've set the SLED-related fields in the material master for a couple of test materials.  Even with this, when I run MB5M, I get no results.
    Thanks for your help.
    S

    Susan,
you can use SLED if you have WM active, as the system has a way to track elements of stock but an IM only level it has no way to do this.  For example if you receive a number of GRs and issue some stock, how does it know from which stock.
If it's IM level only then you can't use SLED in isolation, except as a function on receipt as per Jurgen's answer.

  • COA without Batch Management

    Hi Experts,
I've worked with COA's in the past & always worked on them with Batches. Was wondering how much sense would it make to print out COA's without using Batch Management.
Could anyone share their thoughts on this ?? I dont want to work with Batches, yet, some of the products that I sell will need COA's for them.
    Thanks
    Anand

    Dear Andry
COA printing doesnt require batch if the values you need to print is not from a previous inspection.
You can activate inspection from delivery and can record all the values here . The same can be printed in the  COA

  • SLED In Batch managment for materials

    Dear Experts,
The requirement for the business is as follows
Can sled be kept optional for few materials and mandatory for few materials during good receipt.
Any configuration apart from Material master(Plant data storage) to meet this requirement.Kindly suggest.
    Thanks
    Vijaya Rebala

What do you mean by few materials ?
What is the different for these few materials ?
If you want the field selection level, then you can use different material for these few materials.
As we know the option can be used only in material master, so you can control this in material master by using different material type/ field selection.
Or If you find any different (instead of material type) for these few material, then you can set the field as mandatory for few material by using some development (user exit or badi).

  • WIP Subcontracting without Batch Management

    Hi Everyone,
We are trying to set up a flow where one operation of the routing is subcontracted. Now, as we don't have any components that have to be sent to that subcontractor and also not yet a material to send (it's a not yet finished product that needs some kind of treatment), we were thinking about using a WIP Batch of another component to be used.
Operations 0010 to 0060 are done
0070 is done externally but no components are needed. Only the not yet finished product is sent
Operations 0080 to ... are done inhouse.
    1) How do we send 'not yet finished' components to a subcontractor? Or do we have to make a semi-finished material and add it to BoM/Routing just for this operation?
    2) Is it possible to use ANY kind of WIP Batches when the finished product is not handled in batches?
    Thanks a lot guys!
    Greetings!

Right now, it is all entered in Excel.
We're talking about the creation of Metal parts. They need to be grinded before they receive the final heat treatment. So the part is not finished and the only thing the subcontracter needs are these "semi-finished goods (ungrinded) and his own machine.
So you suggest working with intermediate semi-finished goods? Eventually with classification to follow up the 'to produce' material?

  • Cost(vprs) of free goods with batch managment

    Dear Gurus,
I have a problem ahout free goods with batch management.
Cost(VPRS) is not accumulated in billing(free goods is not relevant for billing).
My configurations are shown as below:
Ordered goods (and batch) item category :zta1(copied from tan)
Free goods (and batch) item category :zann (copied from tann) pricing:B ;not relevant for billing;dermination cost:X
    copy control(from delivery to billing):
    ztan: accumulation cost :X
If I use the material without batch management,Cost of free goods(without batch) is accumulated to main item(ordered goods).
    So, what can I do?
    Thanks and Best Regards,
    Lykin Kan

    Hi,
    These notes are useful:
SAP Note 1365939 - VPRS logic and Customizing settings in SD
SAP Note 547570 - FAQ: VPRS in pricing
If you have the problem in the transfer from SD conditions to CO-PA, check if you transfer only invoices to COPA, if you don't invoice the deliveries of free goods, then you don't transfer this 'sales' or costs of 'gifts' to COPA. You can check the customizing of COPA in tcode ORKE (IMG for COPA). SAP Note 74486 - INFO: Overview of consulting notes for CO-PA is a good summary about this issue.
    I hope this helps you
    Regards,
    Eduardo

  • Activation of batch management -Uploading and creation of new materialBATCH

    Dear All,
    Good day !!!
We have activated Batch management in our business, whcih was running without BATCH management Active before. Now we have activated the batch management ,Automatic in case of GR creation and by FIFO basis in case of goods movement and SD and PP modules also.
Now every transactions and data are working properly. But we need clarity on the master data upload and inventory upload.
Suppose if we need to carry out the for the same material Batch to be activated or whether we need to go for new material and batch management active , Pleaes clarify on the process and also how we could upload the existing inventory from the existing NON Batch material into BATCH material (Which is created wholly as a new materail with batch)
KIndly provide on the above 2 points which would be helpful for our business.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Amol.

    Hi
I think with the help of  FI create a dummy cost centre and issue the material to the cost centre ,
Look no Purchase requisitions or purchase orders are open on the material
activate batch management to material and using 202 movement get back the material .
as the process is very tedious use the help of badis for updating and cancellation if required
this may be only process for activating new batches for material

  • Batch Managment at Plant

    Hi, good day
If somebody know about, how can I do to make the choice Batch management at MM01 is only at the Plant and not in general.
That is, a material is with Batch management in a Plant and another Plant the same material without Batch management.
If anyone has an idea about this, please anything would be helpful

    Hi,
Yes, it is possible only for whole plant not for a particular material in a plant. if it is active at a plant level then system will ask for batch.
Batch Management can be activated in three levels. They are
    1. Client Level
    2. Plant Level
    3. Material Level
At plant level, the batch number is unique in conjunction
with the respective material and the plant.
At Material level, the batches are unique at material level, that is, the batch is independent of any plant. The same batch
number can also be assigned to another material.
At client level, the batch number is unique in the whole client. It indicates that batches are managed uniquely for
exactly one material, that is, independently of the plant, the same batch can exist only once for all materials.
    Example
    a) Plant 1000 item code A Batch 1
    b) Plant 2000 item code A Batch 1
IMG -->  Logistics General --> Batch Management --> Specify Batch Level and Activate Status Management
    Hope Help  U !!!

  • Batch Management and Others

    Dear Experts,
Client system is already having some materials. From these 100 materials ,we would block the 99 materials and the rest material(say X) will be managed in batches. To do this I have thought in the following way:
1.Posting stock to the  the material X through material to material transfer.
2.Activate deletion flag to the 99 materials and change the deletion flag message type to Error message from the warning.
3.Blocking the transaction of these materials for two to three hours.
4.Create a new material and manage it with batch with classification.(say Y)
5.Material to material stock tranfer from X to Y.
6.Change the BOMs where these 99 materials were used.
7.Material assignment to routing operation does not require change as components were assigned to operation through default first operation, which will be managed by the system itself when I change the BOM.
Anything more I require to plan..Pl advice
    Regards
    Reshmi

    Dear Rupesh,
My req is I would like to remove the redundant materials, instead I shall manage these materials through a single material by batch management with classification.but the materials are already in the system without batch management. So until or unless i remove the stock ,the material can not be batch managed. And to remove all materials by a single materials I require the existing stocks of the materials to be updated with the single material, which can be done through material to material transfer.I think I have cleared the issue.

  • Switching ON Batch Management

    Hi Gurus,
Need your help. I am sure you have done this before
In a live system, I need to switch ON Batch Management. Till now these materials were managed without Batch Management. So they have stock on hand, open sales orders, open deliveries, open invoices, open purchase orders.
When I try to change the indicator in MM02, it lists all those open transactional data. I possibly have to reverse/cancel all those open orders etc - then write off the stock - then switch on batch management - then finally re-enter all the open orders.
But to do it manually is a monumental task. Also, it needs to be done in a very short time frame. Can you please suggest any program or automated/semi-automated way to do it.
Or is there any other smarter way you can suggest.
    I appreciate your help.
    Regards
    Bis

    Hi Venkat,
Thanks a lot for your suggested notes. They are helpful indeed.
Would you by any chance know of any report that I can run for a range of materials which will list all the open documents, ie, sales orders, deliveries, billing documents ?
And, other than MM03, is there any report which will list the stock in previous period ?
    Thanks again.
    Regards
    BP
