SLED Without Batch?

1.  Is SLED possible without activating batch management.  If so, what reports are available to monitor materials that have expiration dates?  I can't find a standard report in SAP that doesn't use batch.
2.  If SLED is NOT possible without activating batch management, then what pieces of batch management must be turned on in order to use SLED?
We want to use SLED for a handful of materials that have an expiration date - things like rubber gaskets.  We want to be able to monitor these materials so we know when they are nearing their expiration dates.  I attempted to use MB5M but no results are returned.
Since we're not producing these items, I don't see where batch management serves any purpose for us.  We're buying the items for use in our plants.  I've configured SLED so that it is active and I've set the SLED-related fields in the material master for a couple of test materials.  Even with this, when I run MB5M, I get no results.
Thanks for your help.

Susan,
you can use SLED if you have WM active, as the system has a way to track elements of stock but an IM only level it has no way to do this.  For example if you receive a number of GRs and issue some stock, how does it know from which stock.
If it's IM level only then you can't use SLED in isolation, except as a function on receipt as per Jurgen's answer.

Nick

    Hi,Biju
Qn for you : Suppose if i receive 100 today with sled life 60 days , and tomorrow 100 with sled life 60 days, means total stock is 200.
How we came to know which stock contains 60 days and 59 days as on today. MMBE report will show 200 only, what we are going to gain by this ?
How a user knows about the SLED life ,In our case Date of Production and date of receipt will be same
Thank your Jürgen L. , Your point is valid
Without batch management it is unmanageable.
Is it any way to distinguish the stock by SLED life without batch managment ?
Is it possible to pull the delivery BY SLED days using FIFO  through Inventory managment ?

  • BBD / SLED in EWM without Batch Management ?

    Hi
Can we have BBD / SLED functionality in EWM without Batch Management ?
The products are not batch managed but Best Before Date Or Shelf Life expiration is required.
    Regards / Vinod Sedani

    Hi Vinod.
Yes, it's possible to work with BBD / SLED without Batch Management.
You can find more relevant information in:

  • Shelf Life without batch Management

    HI.. Experts
Without batch management can I able to enable the shelf life option pls guide me

    Hi
You can enable the Shelf life expiration option without batch management also, but its of no use.
When you activate SLED with out batch you cannot track the Shelf life expiry date anywhere.
When we activate batch management, while doing the delivery for SD,etc based on SLED,etc the batch can be shorted and picked. If we do not have batch management then the system picks the material randomly not based on SLED,etc.

  • Inspn For 103 Movnt Type UD Not allowing without Batch

    Hi Experts
We have one scenario : For Incoming materials we are doing 103 GR Block stock and system
not asking  any batch during MIGO.And after quality inspection (RR) 105 Block stock to unrestricted
(Here we are entering the batch). But before this we need to take UD for the lot
but system is not allowing me to do UD without Batch. For time being we are doing stock posting only.
Kindly advise me how can I take UD without Batch for 103 inspection lots.
    Inadvance Thanks
    Shiva Patil

    Hi Vishal / Sanil,
The problem is QM don't want create this batch we have suggested this they want system should assign automatically. In 103 there is no such a way that MM can enter this batch. QM is asking we haven't entered the batch in 103 so we want this lot need to be close without Batch.
    1) Which sap note is suitable for this kindly suggest me

  • Stock ageing report without Batch Management

    Hi Gurus,
My client wants a Stock ageing report. But my concern here is can we achieve this  without batch management
According to my client, Inventory ageing report should  show stock quantities and stock value as follows,
    1. Below one year
    2. Between one and two years
    3. Above two years
We can accumulate the goods receipt as per Material document date and movement type according to the above age requirement.
But, can we track goods issues from the above age groups without Batch Management.
Experts Pls reply and If possible, pls explain how we can achieve this.
    Thanks
    NDS

As you already noticed not only the input (GR) but the output (GI) is also important.
The date of the GR is only one thing, but after that you received the goods in your SLoc you cannot make difference between stocks received at different times.
As your stock is not distinguished in the system as per the GR date you cannot say that which sub-stock has been consumed during GI.
So, without batch management you cannot achieve your goal in standard system.
Of course, physically you can realize your idea by putting labels on different batches - this would mean batch management physically and not in SAP.
If you use warehouse management you can use a workaround: the GR date is stored in the quants and this makes possible to track the age of the stock without batch management. Please check:

  • Material without batch in subcontracting.

    Hi Experts,
In our company we have activated batch management for some materials and some materials like packaging oil etc we have not activated the batch management.  Both (with & without batch)the materials going outside to subcontractor and a 57f4 nor is generating for movement type 541. We can track the materials with batch by using their batch number for its purchasing document. Kindly explain me how to track materials without batch for its purchasing document(101). Our technical consultant is writing a program for that we are not getting how to get the goods receipt number of the material without batch which is consumed at subcntractor. Tell us tables also.
    Thank you
    Sap MM

    Thanks for replying.
Yes our requirement is different. As we know when material coming back from subcontractor with final product, we are doing subcontacting goods receipt. The components suppose x&y is consumed for making material Z. In that for material x batch is active and for material y batch in not active. The material x by its batch number i can track it (101) Goods receipt nor. But for material y how to get it (101) goods receipt nor.   Is there any tables are there that from we can get material y goods receipt number.  As batch is the common thing from purchasing to comsumption of a material.
    Thank you

  • Inspection lot without batch no.

    Hi
For 03 inspection type, inspection lot is creating without batch number, while doing UD it is asking for batch number.
Client will give the batch number only at GR. Im unable to clear the lot.
Please advise, how to create a inspection lot without batch number or clear the lot without batch number.
Note: I used freely defined inspection points for 03 lot.
    Thanks&
    Regards
    Janardhanan

    Hi
You need to apply SAP Note 146945 - Making usage decision for production lots w/o batch.
Also with the above note, you need to mentain the below setting,
    In recipe
Recipe header> Quality Management> Partial lot assign: Partial lot not supported
Select Operation with QM active, go to details> Insp. point completion: Valuation
    Thanks

  • Process order confirmation through PI sheet without Batch no.

    Hi Experts,
Can any body tell me how can we confirm the process order through PI sheet without batch no.? I know though COEBR we can confirm the order through PI sheet but it requires batch no. & We don't have batch managenent implemented.
Youe suggestions are valuable for me.
    Regards,
    Shivkumar Dachawar

To make GR for the order for materials without PI sheet.
    1. Process instruction category PROD_2 - which does not require batch number. Tcode O12C
    2. Assign this Process instruction category to your Control recipe destination for your plant - SPRO- > PPPI -> Process management  -> Control recipe / PI sheets -> Contrl. rec. destination -> Define and setup
If you need more information let me know.

  • Sales of same material with and without batch

    Hello Experts,
    One of my requirement is
To sell single material from same plant
    1)with batches and
    2)Without batches
Will this be possible in R/3 and how?
    Please suggest.
    NVS

    Hi Nikhil
It Depends on where did you activate the Batch management. If its activated at Plant level, then yes, its possible to maintain the batch for a single material in one plant and no batch in another plant.
But if you activated batch management at material level. then its not possible to have batch assignment in one plant and not in another.
If you have batch activated at material level. what you can do is create a dummy batch in the other plant and the actual batch in the original plant.
    Hope this helps..
    Thanks

  • Stock in mb52 without batch

There is some stock in one store showing in mb52(without batch), there is no entry in MCHB table while there is entry in MBEW against this stock, we want to remove this stock, Please advice how can we remove this stock.
    Thanks
    Deven Sharma

only batch stock is stored in MCHB,
if the material is not managed in batches, then the stock is in MARD.
MBEW has only the valuated part of the stock.
you can use a physical inventory ot make stock zero, you can issue it to cost center with 201 or to scrap with 551.
562 should only be used if you want reverse initial stock (which you entered mistakenly with 561, and you are still in go live phase. this movement should nto be used after a go live)

  • Certificates using serial numbers with material without batch assigned

Hi experts...how can i track serial numbers and inspection lots from roh material without batch assign but with serial numbers ? these roh materials were used in PO without batch assign to FERT material yet. Is possible use where-used list only to manage serial number or only using batch administration over the serial numbers ?
    i will apreciatte any answer!
    Regards
    Marco Antonio Trois Endres

    Hi ,
This seems to be a Material Management configuration question, I dont know if this will answer it
You will have to configure the Characteristics of your Material from a task list and transfer/Copy it to your Certificate profile,
there has to be a feature to enter the desired selection Criteria based on your question
Work with the security team if  your MM_G and MM_S class objects can help open or close certain authroization objects to achieve your goal.
in one of the google search it states that
"This can be done from  Extras Characteristics from  your task list.
A dialog box appears for entering the selection criteria for the task list"
Will Need more security related information to help you on this.

  • SLED with Batch Management

    HI Gurus,
We are using batch management for the material. At the time of goods receipt i am getting error
Shortfall of 100 days against remaining shelf life in current item (365 Day)
I have read some document and found that SLED calculate from the goods receipt document date with batch management. And i found the days difference error as follow.
For SLED of a batch calculates as follows:
SLED = total shelf life + production date from the goods receipt document.
Total shelf life is 365 day according to material master.  21.11.2012 Minas 365 remaing shelf life =13.11.2011
    From November 2011 to todayu2019s date 21.02.2012. =100 days.
My question is : If system calculate SLED from the goods receipt (current date) for batch management. Then what is the use of enter manufacturing date in Goods Receipt.
And do i need to change manufacturing date to current date every time. even if material not manufactured in today's date (for example manuf in last month)
Please can any one help me to understand the scenario.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Assume there is a joghurt.
it is produced on February 1 and has 30 days shelf life in material master, so he shelf life expiration date is March 2nd.
if you have a minimum remaining shelf life entered in your material master e.g. 5 days.
    then system actls like this
If you receive this joghurt today (February 21) then you can receive without any error.
but if you want receive this joghurt on February 28, then you get the message "Shortfall of  3  days against remaining shelf life ..."
because your receipt date is withing the minimum remaining shelf life period.
this minimum remaining shelf life shall give you time enough to consume that material. otherwise it is expired before you start using it.
hence a minimum remaining shelf life must be much shorter than the total shelf life. an equal number makes it almost impossible to receive any good.
