Sleek Photo: Need Firmware Desperate

I have accidentally deleted the firmware for my Creative Sleek: Photo and the Creative site does not supply me with a download to replace it, nor does it come with the CDs that I got with the player!
At the moment I have a $300 paper-weight, I desperately need the firmware for my unit - I'm not sure if it is a US or UK model, so if you have either send them to me and I will try it out...
Please - I am lost without my music :'(
Thanks in advance
- Ben

Just for those looking for firmware to bring their Sleek Photo back to life you can download the European Firmware from the following link:

A special thanks to Cat for this =D

  • SLEEK PHOTO: Need Original US Firmwa

Recently I deleted the firmware from my Zen Sleek Photo and Catherina kindly provided me with the replacement firmware but as it turns out the UK version of the firmware which she sent me has a volume limiter on it which has proved no good for me when connecting my player to the car stereo.
I need the extra output when connecting it to my car stereo that the US version provided me with before I accidentally deleted it. *sigh*
So if anyone has it, or can get it for me can you please get in contact with me! Either via this thread, PM or e-mail: [email protected]
Anyone who is after the UK firmware get in touch with me and I can send it to you.
    Thanks in advance

  • Creative Zen Sleek Photo Firmware Download does not recognize my pla

My Creative Zen Sleek Photo recently froze up. After restarting it, the "firmware problem" screen popped up. After reading up on it a bit, I decided to first clean, then reformat, and then reload the firmware. Everything went smoothly until I went to load the firmware back onto my Zen.
For whatever reason a screen pops up that says that my device is not connected to the computer, when it, in fact, is. I have tried several things including uninstalling Windows Media Player and repeatedly cleaning and reformatting in hopes that it would recognize it.
I have had no prior problems with the computer recognizing the device and I have loaded quite a bit of music onto it through this computer. Can anyone please help? Any more ideas? Anything will be helpful and appreciated. Thanks?

HelloHave a look at this thread http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum...ead.php?t=6328?I had a similar problem with a Zen Sleek Photo and I am sure that this was the thread I used to recover the player when a firmware upgrade failed. Regards?

  • Zen Sleek Photo Freezes/Locks Up after about 5 minutes usage (need to drain battery to recov

    Hi,
My 20G Zen Sleek Photo has just recently transformed itself into a useless brick.
No matter what I try and do, it always ends up freezing after about 5 minutes usage. When you force a reset it does unlock but when it comes back on it sticks on the Creative "copyright" start up screen.
I've reformatted and re-installed the firmware several times but with the same result.
    font face="comic sans ms,sans-serif">
The only time it totally unlocks is when you either:
() let the battery fully drain and then recharge it or
    (2) you disconnect the battery lead and then press the On/Off switch for several minutes.
I've looked everywhere for a solution/reason but nothing. You find plenty of people with the same problem but no answers. Surely someone knows how to fix the problem
Is it a faulty battery (unlikely because mine charges up fine and holds it charge well)
Is it the hard dri've (very unlikely since the player can start up correctly [given the above recovery procedure] and play tracks within the 5-0 minutes you have available)
Is it the firmware (I doubt it, I can't see what the firmware's got to do with a delayed lock up, having worked fine up to that point)
Is it the motherboard (maybe....., to my mind it points to a component failure that allows an electric charge to build up and not dissipate, the only way to discharge it is to short the battery pins [with, I hasten to add, the battery removed!])
    font face="comic sans ms,sans-serif">
Has anyone within the Creative community successfully solved this problem Has anyone received a decent answer from Creative
I find it staggering that the guys at Creative have washed their hands of this problem. They, after all, are the most likely people to identify the problem - only they have a schematic of the motherboard that would allow them to investigate and locate the problem.
For the record the firmware I'm using is v .0.0.
Any guidance would be much appreciated,
    Victor

Is there really no one with an answer to this problem or have I overlooked a previous post that explained the fault.

  • Sleek Photo Firmware Problem

My sleek photo was having serious program problems and I formatted it and the problem did not go away. One of my friends mentioned to re-install the firmware. so I downloaded the firmware from Creative and followed the directions that were listed on the website and yet I cannot get it to re-install. I have access to an XP based computer but that did not work. It keeps saying my device is not connected.
    Any suggestions?

Tairys wrote:I have deleted it by an error while I was trying to update, I don't know if the update (it was for the sleek) was good for the sleek photo
No, the Zen Sleek update is only for the Zen Sleek. The Zen Sleek Photo has it's own firmware(s).
Have you contacted Customer Support yet to see if they can send it to you? What region (country) are you in?

  • No firmware supplied for the Sleek Photo. W

I posted a thread earlier today regarding reloading the firmware onto a Sleek Photo. I've checked the CD that I got with the Sleek Photo and to my amazement, the original firmware was not supplied. I find it absolutely shocking that Creative would put an option to reload the firmware on their player and yet not supply the actual firmware. Creative, can you please put the firmware on your website. Thanks.

did they do that/ i downloaded one off there site...i might have tor einstall firmware on mine. hopefully someone can help us.

  • Zen Sleek photo firmware upgrade

I found out that the Creative Zen Sleek had a firmware upgrade (PlaysForSure Firmware 2.0.03). The Creative Zen Sleek Photo hadn't... Can 2.0.03 be used on the Zen Sleek Photo and what is the effect of it's

The Zen Sleek Photo was a later model and may have included the fixes that the update for the Zen Sleek had. It could be the Zen Sleek's firmware upgrade was just to catch up.
I wouldn't use firmware for another player.

Hey, ZVM_00, I think these are what you're looking for. I'm not sure which one you want to buy but here they are:

    http://us.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=3&subcategory=264&product=505 0
As far as your problem with connecting, I can't really help you there. It COULD be your computer but I remember someone telling me to use a different USB port than you're already using. If it's plugged into the front of your computer, try using a back port. That worked for me (for a while anyway). Good luck to you two.
And try what I said, it may work!

  • Zen Sleek Photo, Connection/software prob

I bought a Zen Sleek Photo 20 GB, installed the software, recharged the battery and connected it properly to my pc. Now my PC gives me a message that it can install the driver, wich I thought i already had by installing the software. anyways, I click OK, but it doesn't seem to find anything, and it also says this, so I click [X]
I register online, all the codes and whatsoever, click Creative Zen Sleek Photo Media Explorer and... nothing 'Your creative Zen sleek photo isn't connected to your PC' it says, but it totally is!
So my pc seems to recignise my Sleek Photo as being a 'Zen Creative' but the software doesn't! something's odd here, since I properly installed, registered and connected it. On 3 different USB's, both direct ports as Hubs.
Now I might also include that although my pc seems to recognise the Sleek Photo, on-screen of my Sleek Photo, there is no indication whatsoever that it notices it's connected to the PC.
I read something about the Firmware ( which I can't install since I don't have Service Pack ).
The MediaSource Organiser seems to be working fine though.
I re-installed the Software TWICE, reseted and disk-cleared the Zen Sleek Photo, but nothing seems to work. can someone help me? I'm really desperate for help
And i totally don't want to have spent ?99.95 ( Plus ?9.95 for some kick-ass headphones ) for nothing here
I think I posted about everything hee now. any ideas or comments? thanx in advance.

I have Windows 2000 so this means I "can't" buy Zen Sleek Photo because it requires Windows XP?
Or is it possible to use Zen sleek photo in Windows 2000 somehow. I don?t need WMediaplayer (0) or Creative MediaSource, they are not so important in use I think.
Can I install drivers to W2000?

  • Transfering music from Napster To Go to Creative Zen Sleek Photo probl

    Hello
I have a Creative Zen Sleek Photo with Napster To Go. I have Windows XP home edition. I can rip a CD to the hard dri've
of the computer and transfer music to the mp3 player, but I am receiving a message when trying to transfer music files
from Napster To Go. The message is the mp3 player will need an update to the firmware to work with Napster To Go.
The Zen Sleek Photo has the latest firmware. I had been able to transfer music from Napster To Go until recently.
Napster support referred me to Creative support but the Sleek Photo is past the warranty. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you.
    Bridget Ferrazzano

I had problems for the first month of my Napster membership (while I was still in the trial period). I nearly went elsewhere, but stayed with it. As soon as the trial period was over, everything worked perfectly. One suggestion is to use the same software for everything. Whether you use Creative media source, Napster's own software or media explorer or any of the others, stick with that one only. Do not give up and go to itunes. What a waste of money!?If you need to reload firmware or try another software, it's worth it.
I also had some issues getting help. Napster said the problem was with Creative and Creative said the problem was with Napster. Don't give up. Can you get ripped songs in?

  • Bought A Micro Photo Need H

Ok so I bought a micro photo... I read all the topics concerning issues about the player using Vista... So let me get this straight...
    1. I have to use a computer with Windows XP to download the firmare so I can be able to use my?Micro Photo?with Vista
    2. I need Windows Media Player 0 for the firmare to work on the Micro Photo...
Once I get the firmare updated I can then put Windows Media Player back?up or do I have to keep it at version 0 still?

Yes it's new... Actually I got it on E Bay through Creative... Creative is trying to get rid of the player since I'm guessing it's discontinued... I mean this player is 4 years old now? lol? I haven't gotten it yet though, it will be deli'vered on Monday
I thought since I'm waiting for it I might as well gather all the info that I need now... So by the time I get it I'll be prepared... OK so I understand everything now... My last question is
Do I really need to update the firmware? On the main site it says I don't need to update it...
"Players that are shipped with MTP (also known as PlaysForSure) firmware.
These player include all current ZEN MP3 players (ZEN Vision W, ZEN Vision:M, ZEN V, ZEN V Plus, ZEN Vision, ZEN PMC, ZEN Sleek Photo and ZEN MicroPhoto;<
You do not need to install any drivers or firmware to use these player in Windows Vista.<
Windows Vista (and Windows XP) will automatically detect and list the device as a Windows MTP Player when you plug one of them to your PC. "<
If only all of us were smart like that That was What the YES!YES!YES! was about. I say "If it ain't broke don't fix it" I'm sure you noticed alot of posters start doing things get in a jam then look for help. If they had only looked before leaping. READING is fundamental. Ok since it ships with the Plays For Sure firmware then I wouldn't mess with it. Just remember that if you want to update that firmware it will need to be executed on a XP computer with WMP0. STAY AWAY FROM THE RECOVERY TOOL that Creative promotes that has caused many a problem since the warning is not detailed enough not to mention People Don't READ until after they screw it up:angry:.Enjoy your new player I love mine (all of them & I've got a few)? Also I forgot to ask Do you have a Vista Comp? If so the only software you will need to load music onto player is WMP. You may want to download the ZEN CAST organizer for podcasts. I 've been using it to get audiobooks done as podcasts. Love It!! If you need help with it just send me a private message if you'd like.

    Hi,
I just bought a used ZenSleek photo 20G for my dad (67 year old guy who wants to listed to audiobooks), but I cannot get the device to connect to my Vista-run 32bit HP laptop.
Here's the strange thing: I have a ZenSleek Photo of my own (at least 2 years old) that works perfectly. I plug it into my laptop with the same cable, in the same USB port, and the computer automatically opens the organizer for me to put stuff on the player.
Both players show a Firmware of .0.0.
I've tried hooking up the *new* player to my husband's desk top (also Vista) and it doesn't recognize the player either. I've downloaded all the new Vista 32bit drivers again. I have WindowsMedia Player . I've also reformatted the player and rebooted it. The player is charging when hooked up to the USB, so something seems to be connecting, right?
I've been reading about Vista/Creative incompatibility a lot, and am wondering if I need to find a computer with XP and Window's Media Player 0 to play around with firmware on the new player. But why would my Zen work great and this other player that is exactly the same model not?
Have I just bought a piece of junk? or is there something I need to do?
    Any suggestions are welcome.
What does Device Manager report on the device? I would not mess with the firmware just yet. Did you have the Creative software on the computer before or did you install it trying to get recognized? It should be recognized on Vista without any other software installed. Does the player turn on when you connect it or does the battery icon just flash for charging?

?So What is causing the zen sleek photo to not commuicate? I also have this problem, but I reformated the dri've, reset, and attempting to reload the firmware. Has anyone got a whitepaper on how to get this setup to communicate?
. The ZSP stopped communicating with the supplied software.
    2. The computer sees it but the software does not.
    3. I reset the ZSP and it started to communicate, but the music files were gone. I could download photos, but no music.
    4. I reformatted, then It lost everything. I could only get the boot screen.
    5. I tried to reload the firmware, but the ZSP will not communicatye with the firmware software.
    6. Now this is a door stop with no solution to get it communicating.
    7. With the number of similar posts, it is looking like there is no solution and Creative has written us (consumers) off. I dopn't see any support.
    8. This is a last attempt to get this going. Seems a shame to throw it away because there is no software to support this. One this is if I buy a new one it will be some other manufacturer. Fool me once.
The fact that the computer saw the player tells me it was the steps used in executing the firmware? or the hardri've needs to be replaced.c Does it go beyond the "Creative" boot screen?

HELP?Message Edited by dawni on 07-25-2006 2:52 AM

In order to get the firmware to reinstall, you need to completely uninstall Windows Media Player . Since it's a beta it has bugs and one of the bugs is that you can't update the firmware on any Creative mp3 player. So to completely uninstall it you need to go into Control Pannel and click on "Add and Remove Programs". Make sure the little box that says "Show Updates" is checked or else WMP won't show up.
Ok, now uninstall WMP and restart your computer. Then go back under "Add and Remove Programs" and uninstall the WMP Runtime Format. Then restart your computer again. Finally reinstall Windows Media Player 0. Now you should be able to reinstall the firmware. It's a pain, that's why I got rid of WMP and have never reinstalled it, although I like the look of it, it's too much trouble. Let us know if that works.
