Sleek Photo Song Information Missi

Hello,
I had to reset my Zen Sleek Photo via the reset button on the bottom of the player...
...And now when listening to tracks (which play fine audio wise) instead of saying the track name, artist and album along with diplsy the position you are in the track, it has the words "Select music to play" and "from music library" underneath that.
Does any one know why this is and how i can get the information back?
Thanks,
Rob

If you have already tried the recovery mode option and the player is still not detected by the computer, it's best to get in touch with support for further assistance.

• Sleek photo missing fm ra

My fm radio option has disappeared from the menu of my zen sleek photo. I had it two days ago and now it's gone! I've checked system/reconfiguration and searched every where I can but it doesn't appear to be anywhere as an option to include. Tried Knowledge base but it just refers me to the list of check boxes in configure menu, but it just ain't there. any suggestions. Cheers!!

Thanks for that Tim, pleased I wasn't the only one. Searched Argos stores all over the North East but no trace of a one anywhere. New catalogue out last week don't have it in now so recently got the Zen Sleek for a reasonable price from Great Uni'versal online. 20% off first purchase. Was really happy though with the Sleek Photo. Sleek alone is a bit dull cosmetically/colours etc but I'm happy enough as it has the same memory etc and I'm only interested really in the basic player itself. Really simple to use for someone like me just movin into the 2st century. Photos were something I probably would'nt have bothered with anyway. Gonna keep an eye on the Radio bit though cos I like to record Pete Tong's friday show and the Essential Mix on a Saturday. See how it goes. Read quite a few threads re gettin stuck when downloading firmware and what have'ya so I might just keep away from that and not do what I did previous. i.e. "mess on".
See ya!

• Missing metal insert for headphones on zen sleek photo

I have a zen sleek photo and the little metal insert that goes where the headphones plug in fell out and I can't find it and was wondering if anyone knew how I might get another one. I don't even know what it is called but its the little metal thing where you plug your headphones into.
Thank you!

<EM>I posted this to your earlier posting:</EM>
I have noticed this when I have used my Sleek Photo with other headphones (I don't use the out of the box ones).
This usually happens when you have Smart Volume enabled. I would go to the main menu screen, then choose system-->audio settings-->Smart Volume, and see if this is set to "on". If it is, try turning it off, and see if the volume improves.

• Zen Sleek Photo - Problems with connecting device to the comput

My zen sleek photo gives me this error message when I try to transfer nusic from Napster "Your portable device has stopped responding. To restart your transfer, please disconnect and reconnect your device. Tracks will begin transferring when the device is connected."?I have tried disconnecting and reconnecting, this does not work. I have also tried the recovery mode using the Clean up and reboot options. I am afraid to try Format and Reload Firmware, since my MP3 player continues to stop responding. I have also tried?installing Creative Zen Sleek PlaysForSure Firmware 2.0.03 and I get this error message "Your player is not connected please connect your player."? Disconnecting and reconnecting does not work here either. I was successful in initially transferring about 50 - 75 songs from Napster. I have also been able to and still can'transfer music from cd's to my MP3 player. It?appears as though Creative Media Explorer, Creative Media Source Player and?Creative Media Source Organizer are all operating OK with my MP3 player. Could my problem be related to MTP?Any Ideals?ThxRoger Conejo

Can you transfer songs using Media Source, or Media Explorer? Yes, does not work.
What do you mean by this? Can you transfer songs using these programs yes or no?
Sorry, no I can't transfer music. You would first have to let WMP scan the folder where the songs are. Once they are in your Library section right click the songs and choose Add to Sync List. Then click on the Sync tab and click on Start Transfer and it should transfer over. After choosing Add to Sync List. Then click on the Sync tab and click on Start Sync I get this error message from WMP "Windows Media Player cannot access the file. The file might be in use, you might not have access to the computer where the file is stored, or your proxy settings might not be correct."?Then I click More Information and get this message from the WMP Error Center? height="65" width="400"><!-- HEADGRAPH_END --><!-- Document last modified on Friday, July 30, 2004 at :27 AM -->]C00DD2: Cannot access the fileWindows Media Player cannot access the file. • Zen Sleek Photo and Nomad Zen X

I posted earlier about problems with Vista and the Zen Sleek Photo mp3 player. The Zen software is not compatible and won?t install.
After receiving some information from Creative, and after some further experimenting on my own, I have put together a procedure that will, in fact, do a full install of the Zen Sleek Photo on a machine running Vista.
I have also discovered that this installation procedure also works for my Nomad Zen Xtra ? a nice bonus!
I will send this info, in Word document form, to anyone who requests it. Just email me at:
[email protected]
It worked for me, and I have received feedback from several people already who have used this procedure with 00% success, so I know that it works!

Hey Chickybabe,
I also own a Zen Sleek photo, and while I haven't had any of the problems you have mentioned with Napster; one problem you should watch for (currently experiencing it for the 2nd time!) is trying to play your music from Napster and not being able to because you get a message saying that "No license to play this track". And it's a huge problem, as it doesn't just affect one song, but your ENTIRE library. I fixed it once and am trying to find out how to do it again. Once I do, I'll probably leave Napster, but I will probably have to download ALL my music again.

• MP3 song information not retained after iTunes 7.0 - ID3 tags at fault?

I'm having some strange problems with track information in iTunes. I first noticed it when I tried to copy some mp3's from my Mac to my mobile phone: certain tracks did not retain the song information, like artist, album etc., while others did.
A similar problem has been discussed in this post:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=3698498
However, my problem seems to be a little bit more specific.
If I look at the music in my library in iTunes, all the track information is there. However, for MP3's encoded after 16th October last year, the "Imported With" field, using Get Info, is shown as "Unknown". Before this date, it is shown as "iTunes v7.0". For all MP3's the ID3 version is v2.2.
I believe that I must have upgraded to iTunes 7.0.1 around this time, since I have a number of Apple Lossless audio files which have also been imported and don't show this problem.
The main problem is with the file ID3 tag information (I think). If I select one of the problem tracks, find the original file, open it up in Quicktime and "Get Info", no track/album/artist/composer information is displayed. This is NOT true for 1) MP3's encoded before 16th October 2006 and 2) Apple Lossless files encoded at any time.
In other words, the track information for songs encoded with iTunes 7.0.1 and later is either encoded in a way that no other application can read, OR is only being stored in the iTunes playlist, NOT the file itself. I can see all the track information for these problem files on my iPod, but NOT my mobile phone (where I have to manually copy them over), even if I drag and drop them directly from iTunes.
I have this problem with Quicktime, my mobile phone music player and RealPlayer, so I'm assuming it's "system wide". It even occurs if I copy a problem file out of my music folder and onto the the Desktop, then manually add the track to iTunes: all the song information has disappeared.
I have all my music stored on an external hard disk - 160GB Freecom ToughDrive formatted as HFS+. Previously it was stored on an external disk formatted as FAT32, but copying the files over to the new disk didn't change the problem.
I considered using the "convert ID3 tags" option to see if it would make a difference, but both the good and bad files are listed as using v2.2. I also don't understand enough about them to feel confident converting them to something different - perhaps to v2.3 or v2.4 - just to see if it makes a difference.
Any information on how to "recover" the missing information (for anything other than iTunes) would be greatly appreciated!
MacBook Pro 17" 2.16 GHz 2GB RAM   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   iTunes 7.1.1

Okay, some more information as I try and track down the source of the problem.
By using an id3 tag editing program - ID3 Editor - I was able to view the song information for each track, even though all the other music players I had tried would not show it. If I then chose to modify and update the ID3 information, this would somehow modify the tags in such a way that they become readable in all other programs.
I tried using the "Convert ID3" tags option in iTunes, just on a whim, but without any success. Saving the song information in ID3 Editor doesn't change the version of the ID3 tag - it's still listed as v2.2 in iTunes - but it DOES make it readable in other programs. I also tried the various text conversion options, again without any success.
This looks to me like a bug in iTunes. While its possible for me to get around it, in an extremely long winded way, I still can't understand why iTunes would be writing ID3 information that other Apple programs cannot read.
Any suggestions? Should I be posting this question in a different forum perhaps?

• Zen sleek photo....how do you make folders and edit them on mp3player using windows mediaplayer

well....that's really all I want to know!: is it possible to create folders and move files around on the sleek photo (windows media player 0 doesn't let you edit the player as far as I know!) I would really like to organize my songs....they all seem muddled up. I have nearly 6 gigs of music on it and when I go under "Artists", sometimes it doesn't show me all the albums. Many of the albums on my player don't even have a folder and all the songs can be found only going on to "all tracks".
It's a bit frustrating....
any ideas?
thanx

This seems to be happening a lot now... The same thing happened to me. Unfortunately, I had to get a new one, but to save you a phone call, I'll tell you what Zen told me to do.
. take the batery out.
2. while putting the batery back in, turn the Zen on. This will take you to recovery mode (make sure your batery is full...you can check this on Recovery Mode. If it isn't you should charge it if you can stil connect to the cimputer. If not follow the rest of the ste
ps.
3. Click on Format All. This will sadly delete all your files =(
4. Click on Ceanup
5. Click on Reboot. (If this doesn't work and you get the logo again, your Zen's probably broken and you may need to return it and get a new one... or at least that's what I had to do)
Note: You can also try to just click Cleanup and Reboot and see if that works. If not follow the steps above or call Zen...
Note: If you can connect to the computer and your batery is full, you may want to download a new dri've. Call Zen for more info.

• Sleek Photo 20gb MAJOR probl

First off let me say that I can't even believe I have to come here to see how others are handling the problems with their players, I thought I found a player that was going to be a fantastic purchase. I was wrong. My player is less than a month old. Already, the battery isn't lasting as long as it should. It gets about 4-5 hours of playing time, and that's it. Is there a way to change out the battery?I can't even begin to tell anyone how many times my player has frozen and not turn on. I had to come here and read how to reset it, and every single time it has to rebuild the library. I'm afraid I'm going to lose some music, and I've already got over 2000 songs in it. Yesterday when I turned it on, I got a moving "snowy" screen, then it froze. I had to use a pin and reset it AGAIN. I think I reset the **bleep** thing 4 times yesterday. There are times I plug it into the usb port and it's not recognized by my computer. What is going on with this? I've looked to see if anyone has any in stock so I can exchange it. Nope, sold out. And from what I've read about the Creative Customer Service I really don't want to call them. If I were to replace it with another, how would I go about saving all the music I already have on there? I don't keep it stored on my computer, eats up too much memory. Any suggestions besides throwing it out the nearest window and buying a Zune or an iPod?

I'm having the same problem - can't seem to find a docking station and speaker system designed for the sleek photo! Can anyone advise whether the Zen Vision M speaker systems are compatible with the sleekphoto?Cheers, Marc

• Transfering music from Napster To Go to Creative Zen Sleek Photo probl

Hello
I have a Creative Zen Sleek Photo with Napster To Go. I have Windows XP home edition. I can rip a CD to the hard dri've
of the computer and transfer music to the mp3 player, but I am receiving a message when trying to transfer music files
from Napster To Go. The message is the mp3 player will need an update to the firmware to work with Napster To Go.
The Zen Sleek Photo has the latest firmware. I had been able to transfer music from Napster To Go until recently.
Napster support referred me to Creative support but the Sleek Photo is past the warranty. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.
Bridget Ferrazzano

I had problems for the first month of my Napster membership (while I was still in the trial period). I nearly went elsewhere, but stayed with it. As soon as the trial period was over, everything worked perfectly. One suggestion is to use the same software for everything. Whether you use Creative media source, Napster's own software or media explorer or any of the others, stick with that one only. Do not give up and go to itunes. What a waste of money!?If you need to reload firmware or try another software, it's worth it.
I also had some issues getting help. Napster said the problem was with Creative and Creative said the problem was with Napster. Don't give up. Can you get ripped songs in?

• ZEN SLEEK PHOTO & WINDOWS 98 SE!! AAAAAARGGH!

Hi!
Apologies in advance if this problem has already been raised and addressed, but due to a mismatch of information, I find I have now invested in a lovely mp3 player (namely ZEN SLEEK PHOTO) I can't use. The problem? It's mimimum OE requirement is XP and I'm still running WINDOWS 98 SE. Okay, obviously the solution (ahem) is to upgrade to the XP System, but, I'm hearing all sorts of talk of driver updates, installations, fixes etc and wondered if someone knew of any available remedy here on Creative. At the present time, the installation disc is not chuffed with the OE system and I can get no further.
Anyone have any nice, straight-forward step-by-step solution they'd care to share?
Cheers

<EM>It's a PlaysForSure device, and uses the same drivers any other PlaysForSure device uses. It's standardized.</EM>
I've finished downloading the drivers required. Do I now just need to connect my player or am I required to install the software on the ZEN SLEEK PHOTO first? The last time this was unsuccessful because of the Operating System. So if all this works, I'm guessing that it will be a case of transferring mp3 files (hopefully straight from my hard dri've through WMP) into the Zen player.
Can you please confirm the procedure using WMP?

• Itunes loses song information

I update all the song tag information using windows explorer and then drag and drop into itunes 11.  The song information e.g. artist, title, comments, do not show for all songs.  Itunes intermittently grabs some information and not other data from the song tags.  Additionally, I make changes to the song data in itunes 11 and randomly the information is lost over the course of a month. What is the problem?  This is quite frustrating as other programs show the information correctly, as through Windows media player, but itunes does not.  This has been a recurring problem over the last 10 years with itunes and seems to be linked with upgrades.

Hi,
iTunes Match uses the sound footprint of the track to be matched or uploaded. So it is not essential that you have complete metadata info. If the music has been sourced from commercial discs, you are likely to get a match if it is in iTunes. One thing match will not do is update any missing metadata.
There are apps available that can help complete missing data. I have no personal experience of such apps - maybe someone else can point you in the right direction.

• Broken Zen Sleek PHoto a week after a Broken Zen Mi

hey folk,i have a problem my creative sleek photo was working perfectly one minute when i was arranging my music on it and then 5 minutes later i went upstairs to listen to it and it wouldn't switch on. i plugged it into the pc and it still wouldnt work. i only purchased it off my mother a week ago and she only had 400 songs on it and it was never really used. the reason i purchased it is because last week my zen micro stopped working and creative told me it was problably the harddri've and said send it in for repair which i didnt as it was out of warrenty. but now my new zen sleek photo is gone. i am so upset and the money this is costing me is alot. i need some advice. does anyone think it could be down to my pc??thanksstephen

Alright so after messing with it till the wee hours of the morning, I have come to the conclusion that it only freezes when trying to transfer certain songs. However, ALL my songs are in the MP3 format. But whenever I try to transfer them, it gets to 00% then freezes. Then I have to CTRL+ALT+DELETE to end the program, clean up and reboot my Zen, then its ready to go again. Still confused.

• The "genre" information missing

The genre information for all but a handful of my 13K+ songs is missing, no that big a deal but I just happened to notice that. It was there at one time. I did a major move of my iTune library to an external drive a few months ago.

Never mind. It's all back now. Hmmm.
