Sleekbook (c5r60ea#abz) not detecting correctly other hard drivers except the original

I've a sleekbook c5r60ea#abz that is running regularly but with a *failing* disk.
With his stock Disk the S.M.A.R.T. under windows is reporting that is at risk while the bios is not prompting for anything at all.
If I install a brand new disk of different brands (hgst, western digita, toshiba - all the tested disks of 500gb) it prompts a 301 Error (that the disk is failing)and, if I go ahead, the disk cannot be listed by the installation process of windows 8.
From the HP support they have vaguely (without a specific reason) replied to try to update the bios.
After the update nothing have changed.
In practice the laptop shows as bad the new disks (and not even showing them while set also in gpt, legacy, etc) and as good the failing one.
If someone can give me an hand into solving this problem I would be very grateful.

I've not seen particular problems, with even SSD, on several other notebooks.
The specific problem is that the HP/Bios is NOT reporting the S.M.A.R.T. warning on a failing disk and it's reporting as defective all the brand new disks of several different companies (wd, toshiba, samsung) .... even the same company of the old hard drive (hitachi).
In my opinion it's not normal since the disk is recognized only with the same (partitions) operating system and relative recovery partition. The disk is always "bad" when one of those partition is not "equal" (happened by copying with minitools disc copy) .
The installation CD of windows (7/8) doesn't find available discs (even with "legacy mode").
I suppose that a fix should be made for this specific model.
The disks don't need to be initialized by default and I even tried to initialize the disk with mbr and gpt without luck.
The lack of a drive letter is out of topic. I needed to install the Operating system on a fresh/new disk.
Thank you for your replies but I already solved it going around the problem. A real solution, maybe, could be a bios fix from hp.

- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

The frames are blank but indicates that there is a photo there. The majority of photos are blank but about a tenth are seen . i apparently need to retrace where they went but do not know how to get that done . can someone help please?

It would be difficult to tell you where to begin. If you moved photos around to different folders and didn't use Lightroom to move them, that would cause Lightroom to lose track of where they are. You have to remember that your images are not "in" Lightroom. Lightroom simply points to them wherever they are on your computer. All of the location information as well as the changes that you make to your images is stored in the catalog, which is a database. This catalog is central to the operation of Lightroom, and it's essential that you understand how it works and how to make it work for you. For all of those images that have "?" On them, or the folders that have the same, you will have to go through the process of locating them and showing Lightroom where they are located. With 18,000 images, and many of them missing, it might just be easier to start a new catalog and organize things properly from the beginning in that catalog.

Problem Description: - Exceptions in a Condition cause pages to fail to render.
The actual issue is, the JSP error page does not displayed on its own, included in the original JSP Page when exception occurs.
Problem Cause: As per the JSP specification when jsp content reached the buffer size (default 8KB) the page being flushed (Part of condent displays). The default �autoFlush� value is true.
When the page buffer value is default size (8KB), and if any exception occurs after flushing the part of the content, instead of redirecting into error page, the error page content included in the original page.
If i specify autoFlush="false" and with default buffer size, at the runtime if the buffer size is reached, i am getting stackoverflow error.
To solve the above problem we can make it autoFlush=�false� and buffer=�100KB�. But we can�t predict the actual size of the page.

Error-Page tags work best with an error.html pages. If you have an error.jsp page what I would do, and I have, is wrap my classes and jsp pages in a try catch block where you forward to the error jsp page and display anything you want. YOu can also do this with if else statements. I have used the tomcat error pages before but when I've implemented them I used java.lang.Exception as the error to catch not Throwable. I don't know if this would make a difference or have anything to do with your problem.

WE know Disk Warrior is more reliable, hence more useful, and should be in any disk mechanics toolchest.
For the record, I don't know anything of the kind. I have yet to see evidence that Disk Warrior is useful at all.
What I do know is that you seem to take every opportunity you get to promote it in these forums. Do you work for Alsoft?
Let me be a little more explicit. My opinion is that Disk Warrior is a waste of money if one has backups. If a journaled HFS directory is so badly corrupted that it can't be repaired by Disk Utility, then the volume should be reformatted and restored from backup, which has the same effect as running DW, but is probably faster and doesn't cost $99.

Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

I don't think you understood the question. I am having the exact same issue. I open a link in a new tab or window, for example: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/backforedrop/
When the new tab opens, I click on "reviews" to open the link: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/backforedrop/#reviews in the existing tab because I want to see the reviews for this feature. After I read the reviews, I want to go back to the main link, but the back button on my browser is greyed out, as though I was never even on the previous page. So my options are 1) Open every link I ever click on in a new tab or window, or 2) Hope the website is user friendly and attempt to navigate back to the previous page using links inserted on the current page.
You never realize how frustrating not having back button is until it happens.

That depends on what you have on the MBA...if you have videos, move the videos to the external drive. If you have a lot of music, create a folder/library for the music and point iTunes there for the music. If you have a lot of photos for iPhoto, make a new library on the external drive and move our photos over there and then select that library as the default library for iPhoto to use.
Those are the big files and should take a lot of the load off the internal storage.

You're talking about the dock?
To check on that, go to System Preferences > Dock > indicate your preference.

The only other way would be through Apple, assuming you bought it at an Apple store or at least registered it. Stop by the store or call their support number.

If the music is on the same computer, import the songs to your iTunes library by dragging them into iTunes or choosing File > Add to Library (Mac) or File > Add File to Library or Add Folder to Library (Windows). If the music is on different computers you can set up Home Sharing to copy the music from one library to the other (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3819 and http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4620).
