Sleep + Home Doesn't Cold Reboot In 3.0 - How Do We Do It Now?
Used to be that holding Sleep and Home for 8 or 9 seconds would bring up the Apple logo and the 3G would reboot clearing all its memory, cache, etc.
With the new 3.0 update, this is gone. How do we do it now? I liked doing this every other week as I found the phone performed better with a little forced cold reboot

The red swipe is not what I'm looking for. There's another, deeper kind of reboot. Used to be prior to 3.0 you'd keep holding down the two buttons while the red swipe is on the screen (you don't swipe it) and eventually the screen goes black (keep holding those two buttons) and then the Apple comes back up. Only when you saw the Apple come back up did you release both buttons.

Try this:
1. Close all inactive apps in the Task Bar. Double-click the Home button and hold apps down for a second or two. Tap the minus sign to close app.
2. Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple Logo. -
Siri only works when I raise to speak, but when I hole down the hold button and Siri pops up, it doesn't pick up any sound. How do I fix this?
Try A and B
(A) Restart iPad
1. Hold down the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears.
2. Drag the slider to turn off iPad.
3. Turn iPad back on, hold down the Sleep/Wake until the Apple logo appears
(B) Reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected. -
Set "hot corner" to put iMac to sleep. Doesn't work. Selecting the corner will momentarily put to sleep, but immediately rewakes. Have tried all four corners with same result. Have tried with wireless mouse and with corded mouse with same result. Any ideas as to how to fix?
You've been so great, I want to thank you for all the help over a very frustrating day. Last evening, I redownloaded and installed the fresh copy of Mountain Lion. The problem remained. After installing the new OS 10.8, any clicks on a web page (Firefox browser) didn't open the page, but instead made a copy of the page on the desktop. Felt it must be hardware degrading, so I set up a case with Apple support for today. Early in the diagnostics, I had swapped out for a corded mouse and the problem remained. As a last try, I changed out my wireless mouse for a different wireless mouse. That seems to have done the trick. My Logitech mouse is incompatible with OS 10.8.

My app store is not working. I followed instructions to hold wake/sleep home button....did not work, I went into settings, general, reset network settings....didn't work...now what?
Did you try to go to Settings > Store, tap on Apple ID, Log out and Login again.
What message do you get when you open the App Store? -
Turned phone off & now it won't turn back on (The Apple icon appears, then disappears).. After trying a cold reboot the itunes icon appeared, but phone still wont turn on. What should I do?
First try: Shut down Mac forcefully. Press the button to start & hold down OPTION ke once youo see white screen. Boot disk selection window will appear. From here select your drive to boot into Mac.

I have read your post on how your wireless keyboard's sleep key doesn't work. Is your computer able to enter sleep mode by itself after a certain period of time? Are you able to enable sleep mode using a different keyboard?
In the meantime, I recommend following the steps in this document on Wireless Keyboard and Mouse Troubleshooting. This should help diagnose any possible issue with how keys or buttons are input using your keyboard.

and i have problem with sleep timer
doesn't work or working sometimes
but usually you can see on the screen one minute left and TV never switch off
i try change language and options also reset system doesn't help
and updates of firmware looks up to date
any suggestions or help pleaseIm not sure if you are on the right forum because this forum is for Toshiba computer systems but lets see if someone with the same device can help.
I dont know what is wrong there but how it works you can read on page 48 in Users manuals document.
By the way: have you tried to contact Toshiba hotline and ask for help? -
Lately, I've been getting a blue screen in the midst of working and have to do a cold reboot to end it. Seems to happen when I'm closing windows or quitting applications. Not always, but sporadically. What causes this? I'm using 10.6.8 on early 2011 MBP. Thanks for any help/advice!
You have 10.6 on that machine, I suggest you stick with it for performance, third party hardware and software reasons as long as possible.
Consider 10.8 (not 10.7) when it's released, because 10.7 and 10.8 will require a new investment in software and newer third party hardware as it requires newer drivers the old machines won't have. (forced upgrade because of software, really nice of them)

Far as your Safari problem do these things until it's resolved:
1: Software Update fully under the Apple menu.
2: Check the status of your plug-ins and update (works for all browsers) also install Firefox and see if your problems continue. You should always have at least two browsers on the machine just in case one fails.
