yes from what I've been able to read then tb is a multiplex of a minidisplayport signal with pci-express
and windows implementation is rather poor as in don't support hotswap so not being able to sleep tight when the pci-express part being used would not be impossible

  • Hypervisor disables Sleep and Hibernate on Windows Server 2012R2! Why? How to solve?

    Hi,
    according to the official documentation of Microsoft, Hyper-V does not block Sleep and Hibernate on Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2012 R2.

    personally... I'd just...
    That's what I'm zeroing in on. I'm sure that whatever you and Mark do in your environments makes perfect sense in those environments. But, those are two environments out of millions. For my "personally", I'd like to do whatever I can to prevent these forums
    from becoming a place where someone doing things differently is intimidated out of posting further, by telling them things like "that's not what you want" without really knowing what it is they want. I know of at least one popular tech forum like that, and
    it's now dominated by halfmins who are revered for their post count, not because they know anything. I'm not trying to say that's what either of you are trying to do or that you're not both perfectly capable experts. It's just that there are certain behaviors
    I think we should all rise above on these forums.
    I maintain that the real issue here is that, as the OP points it, it's advertised to work, therefore it should work. Workarounds and alternate solutions are nice, and I don't think anyone is complaining about them just being presented, but ultimately they're
    not the point.
    I understand your position about just shutting it down and I'm sure that's valid in the situations you encounter. What happens to me is that I'm hammering on some code for CoreFig in my Win7 box while testing on a Hyper-V Server in the background. The phone
    rings, I get distracted, and six days later, I still have a Hyper-V Server running full-bore that I'm doing absolutely nothing with. It has to be on a physical machine because I can load Hyper-V Server in a VM, but I can't put active VMs on it. It has to be
    on Hyper-V Server and not Client Hyper-V because A) it's meant for Server and uses features only found on Server and B) I tell end users that it was tested on Server and being truthful is sort of my thing. So, I think I have a valid use case for sleep. I have
    to assume there are any number of others out there.

  • How to disable parent window while popup window is coming

    Hi,
    I am working on Oracle Applications 11i.
    I am able to get the popup window using the Java script in the controller.
    Please see the below code for the reference.
    String pubOrderId = pageContext.getParameter("orderId");
    StringBuffer l_buffer = new StringBuffer();
    StringBuffer l_buffer1 = new StringBuffer();
    l_buffer.append("javascript:mywin = openWindow(top, '");
    l_buffer1.append("/jct/oracle/apps/xxpwc/entry/webui/AddAttachmentPG");
    l_buffer1.append("&retainAM=Y");
    l_buffer1.append("&pubOrderId="+pubOrderId);
    String url = "/OA_HTML/OA.jsp?page="+l_buffer1.toString();
    OAUrl popupUrl = new OAUrl(url, OAWebBeanConstants.ADD_BREAD_CRUMB_SAVE );
    String strUrl = popupUrl.createURL(pageContext);
    l_buffer.append(strUrl.toString());
    l_buffer.append("', 'lovWindow', {width:750, height:550},false,'dialog',null);");
    pageContext.putJavaScriptFunction("SomeName",l_buffer.toString());
    But here the problem is, even though popup window is there, i am able to do the actions on the parent page.
    So how to disable the parent page, while getting the popup window.
    Thanks in advance.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    You can use javaScript for disabling parent window as well.

I'm worried about losing photos/videos of my children. Im not sure if there's something special I need to do once I turn it back on; in the meantime, its still on... which I'm afraid the picture on the screen will burn into the screen. Does that happen on iMac's? Thx!

    Try a hard reset. ( holding Power til it restarts)
    Once to your desktop. Click the Apple icon >> About this mac >> More info>> Storage
    Once you see what you have the most of. Try to see what you can delete.
    Open up any folder>>all files>> or buy an external to store more data.
    Once deleting make sure you empty your trash.
    If you are new and its a new computer, you might need to bring it to a store for further assistence.

  • Force sleep without disabling Internet Sharing

    Hi,
    Now that Mountain Lion includes WPA2 Personal encryption for Internet Sharing over Wireless, I've decided to try using it instead of my Airport Extreme Base Station to shre my internet access with my iPhone and notebook.  One of the benefits I hoped to gain was the ability to simply put my Mac mini to sleep to turn off my network when, for example, sleeping or at work.  That way I reduce opportunity for unauthorized attempts at access and save energy.
    The only flaw appears to be that the Mac mini doesn't want to sleep when Internet Sharing is on.  I've tried using the menu item and the keystroke (Option-Command-Eject), but neither will send the Mac to sleep.  To get around this, I could simply turn off Internet Sharing when I don't need it; but:
    1) This means launching System Preferences and authenticating to the Sharing pane, which is cumbersome and slow
    2) Internet Sharing forgets my wifi settings when it's disabled
    Does anyone know of a way to force my Mac to sleep even when Internet Sharing is enabled?

    Hello Scotch,
    I'm working on my MBP 15' late 2011. I use it at school (Wifi network) and at home (Ethernet cable).
    I also like to turn on the internet sharing for my iphone as my room is to far from our hotspot @ home... (**** you concrete walls)
    But i'm also one of the jerks that abuses his mac by almost never shutting it down and just closing the lid (same as putting it to sleep).
    i found out that when i close the lid with the ethernet plugged in (& sharing turned on), my macbook does not sleep. This can be handy, but can be annoying for noises at night.
    If you turn off the airport on your computer, or remove the wired internet connection, the internet sharing will stop without changing your pref's.
    when you turn it back on, or plug the cable back in; the sharing starts again with the same settings automaticly.
    It's not 100% what you're asking for, but it does the job in 2 clicks...
    i hope it helped.
    Greetings,
    Wouter, Belgium.

  • How do I disable "reopen windows when logging back in"

    Everytime I shutdown the mac asks me "reopen windows when logging back in". In fact the default is to do reopen all open programs when I restart. he annoying thing with apple is that when you close a window like Safari and iPhoto the program itself is not closed unless you spend extra time to go and QUIT each program. So naturally at least Mail and Safari are up when I'm ready to shutdown. On a other days MS Word, Excel and iPhoto are open as well. This is annoying to have to remember to QUIT everything when I'm sleepy before shutting down. Mac is supposed to be convenient not tedious. Please stop asking me if I want to reopen on logging back in. And worse yest stop assuming that this is the default action. Someone please help!

    You can uncheck the option box on the shut down screen. Or you can use a terminal command to disable it completely. Or you can get in the habit of using Command+Q (No Caps on the Q, Command+q) to shut down programs that you no longer need running. And if you get in that habit of using Command+q you don't need to close the window or windows that are open for that program. Command+q will close the program and the active window/s.
    EDIT:
    Here is a site that give you the command to disable this annoying ?FEATURE?.

  • ITunes disables my Windows sounds and takes away the volume control

    I have searched and found no answer to this- others have posted this same question.
    I installed itunes and it removed my volume control from the task bar. It disabled my Windows sounds and took away the volume control from the System Tray next to clock. My media buttons no longer affect the volume either. I have to go into control panel to change my system volume.
    At first- it only happened when my daughter would plug in her iPod and use iTunes, and then after we'd reboot the computer, the volume control would come back and no longer be disabled. Each time she used iTunes, it would happen again. Then a computer restart would bring it back. Now all of a sudden, nothing brings it back. I have to go about 4-5 screens deep into Control Panel to adjust the volume there. This is ridiculous and an absolutely unacceptable side effect of iTunes.
    Does someone have an answer or do we need to delete iTunes and never again buy a crappy apple product?
    Message was edited by: sjs.chowchow

    Figured it out!
    Go to Control Panel -> Sound
    In the “Playback” tab, click on your Speakers to highlight it, then click Properties. In the “Advanced” tab, under “Exclusive Mode”, uncheck the box that says “Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device”. I restarted my computer after that, but I am not sure if you need to.
    Then you can go to your taskbar and right-click and choose “Properties”. In the “Notification Area” tab, under System icons, “Volume” is no longer grayed out and you can now check the box to make it show up down near your clock again.

  • Need to disable Private Window/Private Browsing on our work computers, both mac and pc?

    I support both macs and pcs with version 26 of firefox on all machines. I need to disable private window and private browsing, including the keyboard shortcuts.

    Thank you for the info.
    I did run across in my searching another way to disable by creating a txt file (userChrome.ccs) with this code, minus the first sentence: (Open the file on any text editor. Copy and paste the following lines after @namespace
    /* Hide Private Browsing in App menu and Tools menu */
    #appmenu_privateBrowsing, #privateBrowsingItem {display:none!important;}
    /* Hide Sanitize item in App menu and Tools menu */
    #appmenu_sanitizeHistory, #sanitizeSeparator, #sanitizeItem {display:none!important;}
    I need to try it on my mac before I implement it on other macs and the pcs. The directory placement area was a little vag so I tried it here.
    I placed the file in: HD/Users/{me}/Library/Application Support/Firefox/chrome
    restarted firefox. Did not work.
    Does any one know if the above into is correct and if I placed it in the correct area on the mac?
    This is the info I got to place the same file on the pc:
    C:\\Users\\[User]\\AppData\\Roaming\\Mozilla\\Firefox\\Profiles\\[random string].default\\chrome\\
    Does anyone know if this is correct? I can not test this until after hours on the pc.
    Thank you again! I really tried to do the research before I posted the question.

  • Disable UAC window on VISTA

    Hi
    How can I disable UAC control window on Windows Vista using LabVIEW?
    I made this VI (see attach). This VI works, only if i manually disabled the UAC Window (from regedit: "Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System - EnableLUA=0 [DWORD]) from regedit or control pannel.
    If i run my VI on a computer that has UAC ON, i cannot open the registry key. Although, if i manually go to regedit and
    change the windows variable EnableLUA to zero and restart the computer,
    then I'll be able to control this registry key from LabVIEW.
    Is
    there any way around to disable the UAC only with LabVIEW. This means,
    is there any way to modify the Windows variable EnableLUA when I
    previously have the UAC ON?
     Thanks

    I'm not (thankfully) a Vista expert, but from what I've read, you can't programmatically disable UAC on Vista without some sort of user confirmation. That would sort of defeat the whole purpose, wouldn't it? Besides, I'm not sure if it would even be proper to discuss such a method on this forum given the security implications.
    Your best bet is to use Google for "programmatically disable UAC on Vista", as this is a Vista question, not really a LabVIEW question.

  • Disabling 'Show window contents while dragging' also disables window snap - is there a workaround?

    When I disable 'Show window contents while dragging' in Performance Options, it also automatically disables the ability to snap windows the left and right and corners by dragging them. I have an older computer, and disabling this really improves the performance,
    but I'd really like to keep the ability to snap the windows around, as it's one of my favorite features.
    Is there a way to just disable showing window contents while dragging without disabling the window snap feature?

    Hey there. I've been trying to figure out why my snap wasn't working, and this is the only post I've found that mentioned it.
    I found snap wasn't working on my machines sometimes and realised it happens after I start an RDP session which disables the "show window contents while dragging" option, but then doesn't seem to enable it properly after the session ends.
    When I check the option, it is already ticked, so I need to untick and re-tick, then apply and snap starts working again.
    I don't know if there is any connection with the "Prevent windows from being automatically arranged when moved to the edge of the screen" option under the mouse ease of access settings.
    It does seem like a new issue though as it doesn't happen under Win8

My goal is to keep the VI exclusively on the screen and disable the users from switching to other programs or shut off the PC.Public libraries use applications like WinSelect to lock down access to machines.
    http://www.winselect.com/
    But control-alt-delete in NT4.0 is a kernel level security feature that can't be
    defeated unless you hide the keyboard. By using registry settings you can
    control what is presented to the user after he hits control-alt-delete and keep
    him/her from shutting down, but you will also have to lock up the computer to keep
    your users from hitting the reset button and hide the mouse.
    If you want to boot up an NT environment without a keyboard and mouse
    you will need to go to NT Embedded. NTE allows you to build a custom
    OS that does not require keyboard or mouse to boot. You can also install
    just the components you need, ie; no browser, menus, control panel, etc.

  • OneDrive won't disable on Windows 10 using GPO

    I can't seem to get OneDrive to disable on Windows 10 using GPO on a Server 2012 R2 DC.  I have Enabled the setting Computer --> Policies --> Admin. Templates --> Windows Components --> OneDrive --> Prevent the usage of OneDrive for file storage.
    Doing it locally on that machine works, but it won't pick it up from GPO.  I have another GPO in the same OU to disable Windows Store, and that one works as advertised.  I don't see any errors in the event log.
    I fired up an 8.1 machine and OneDrive is blocked properly there.
    I guess I'm curious if it's just me, or if this is a common thing with Windows 10.
    Thanks!

    Hi Abikutn,
    It looks like the function you are using (IC_Grab_IMAQ.vi) calls a 3rd party .dll, and is not a standard National Instruments function. The library it calls is LabVIEW Extension2.dll. If this is what you are using to operate the camera, you should find who wrote this library and see if they have a way to minimize or disable the window.
