Sleep mode is not working proper

The monitor screen goes off, but when you touch the computer, it feels very hot! I touch the keys on the key board, but the computer will not turn on. I have to hold the power button down to get the computer to completely power off. Then I can power the computer back on! Any ideas??

Running my B210a eprinter in windows vista. The printer goes into a sleep mode if not used for several hours. The power button is slowly flashing dim then bright, and I need to manually touch the printer's screen to enable it to print. I have an older mac and it worked perfectly until about an hour ago when I shut it down because we needed the room dark for a presentation and the screen saver was putting out light.
Now it won't turn back on. It plays the start up music but the screen stays blank.
The CMD+OPT+R for recovery mode doesn't do anything, the keyboard is wireless so the command doesn't get to the computer and that's the only keyboard I have since that's the one it came with.
I'm looking at making a USB recovery disk but it says that I should click on "Options" in the Disk Utility but there is no options button or menu to click.
From here: OS X: About Recovery Disk Assistant in step 3 I get stuck.
Also it says that if I make a drive on this computer which has an older OS it might not work on the broken machine with Mavericks.
This machine literally worked and I turned it off and now it does not work and there seems to be nothing I can do... ***...

I don't believe there is anything we can do on a forum to help then, you need to take it into a AASP and have it professionaly diagnosed. If you don't know how to locate an AASP in your area you can begin by using Contact Apple for support and service

Try this:
clone your system and repair it with Disk Warrior instead
Or try a clean test system install on another drive
A must: SmcFanControl 2.2 - a mere 400 rpm extra to keep air cooling up
Try to run w/o externals. MyBook included.
Is that a 7200.11 1TB? they had a lot of issues.
Run AHT off your OEM DVD.
2008 had to have EFI and SMC updates to deal with freezes on wake from sleep, and like all models, high inrush current. Hopefully you have a UPS and is 1500VA unit.
When you do hard restart from power button, you almost certainly add more directory errors and to files requiring immediate attention to repair and rebuild the directory; and to scan and repair and delete cache and temp files and folders. A must. Invest in bootable backups SuperDuper along with Disk Warrior (or TechTool Pro 6, maybe Drive Genius 3 but I'd rate that #3).
TimeMachine has its own bad habits, especially with Green drives and some externals.
Try to rule out everything and then add back one at a time.
And it may just be time to replace the 8800, very common, a couple threads this week, and it is 3 yrs old. Might want ATI 5870 or 5770.

On the MBP, in iTunes, switch to Song view and enable the iCloud Status column by pulling down View > View options and selecting the option for "iCloud Status." Close the small window. Look for any tracks that have a status of "waiting." If you see several of them disable iTunes Match while holding down the Option key. Quit iTunes, wait a few seconds, then open it again and turn iTM back on. Let it compelete the scan. Wait until all tracks that are "waiting" have a status of either "matched" or "uploaded."
On the iPad, turn off iTunes Match then launch the Music app and let the contents clear out. Power cycle the iPad for good measure, then re-enable the service once all the tracks in iTunes have been processed.

There's no software fix for a hardware issue. Make an appointment at any Apple store, an out of warranty replacement is US $199 for an iPhone 4S. It that's too much money, find a third-party repair service. But, be aware, if a third-party touches your phone, you void all support from Apple & forfeit the right to an out of warranty replacement. Also, since Apple does not sell parts, there is no way to determine if any parts used to fix your phone are genuine or knock offs.

My experience with electronic tends to revolve around thermo stress, and removing all power vs going to sleep tends to be more or less the same. Many components have power totally taken away, and others use so little power they cool off.
However, I found thermo stress occurs a lot more with discrete electronic components (like back in the '80s and our VAX-11/780's which had lot more discrete components) and less with integrated circuits. NOTE: I'm not talking about overheating components, just normal heating/cooling cycles.
All in all I would not worry about it. The OP (Grace 1) should use whatever method is most convent for her. And I would say if she is using a Macbook Air or the new Macbook Pro Retna display (or any other Mac with a solid state drive (SSD)), then booting from shutdown may not take all that long anyway.

F is the default shorcut for »Change Screen Mode« for me, so I’m not sure what you want with the qualifier keys.
Have you changed your Edit > Keyboard Shortcut?

I have two different computers, one with AE CS4 and a other one with AE CS 5.5.
On both systems ( Windows 7 64) my Echo audio fire4 sound-module driver is not working proper
and crashing AE. Despite the latest updates from Echo. When I uninstall the driver the problems
are gone!
That's the reason I'm looking for a good stable sound-module (FireWire) to work with Premiere Pro
and AE.
