Sleep Mode Not Available

After Windows 10 clean installation my notebook dosn't sleep when I close lid & dowsn't wake when I open.Even there is no sleep option in startmenu>power. And the screen doesn't turn off after selected inactivity time period, instead it just turns black. How can I get back sleep mode?

I had a similar problem after upgrading my Pavillion m6 Notebook. Windows 10 installed smoothly and it looked and work really great until I closed the lid. When I opened it again, I saw a blue screen and rotating dots that went on for hours. After a total of 9 hours working with Microsoft tech support, we concluded that my Intel graphic driver HD 4000 was most likely the culprit, as it had previously caused occasional RAM failures. Looking back at the Win 10 installation log, I saw that a more current driver was chosen by the utility out of Microsoft's own library. It was obviously not compatible, probably because the Intel driver was customized by HP and needs to be replaced by a custom driver. I actually found a more current HP driver yesterday, but I'm not certain that it will work and I don't want to go through the ordeal of rolling back to Win 7. The option of going back to a previous OS build after installing Windows 10 is only available for 28 days, so keep that in mind. The bottom line here is that it's best to wait and see if other users have successfully upgraded a similar machine. You might want to check all of your drivers as well. I assume you know how to boot into safe mode to see what you have going on at the moment.

  • Curtain mode not available

Hello, I'm new to ARD ... running ARD 3.0 Unlimited, created an install package an installed on the target PowerMac G4 running OS X 10.4.8, opened the services ARD, Remote Login, and File Sharing (FS for general use) services in the firewall, and I can monitor or control the client reliably.
I did create an admin account for ARD in the Package utility - this user has all possible rights but I didn't allow VNC or Guest request.
When I try to use the Curtain Mode while in Control Mode the Curtain Icon is greyed out, mousing over says "Curtain Mode not available for "mac name"", and when I try to directly connect via Curtain Mode I get the error "Could not change to Curtain Mode, (2nd line) an error occured on this computer"
Pretty vague, anyone know what's needed for Curtain Mode to be available/work? - thanks - KR

Thanks for your comments Brian - I'll answer each:
Curtain mode should work on any system running 10.4 and ARD 3.
KR - that's my understanding. All the systems are running OS X 10.4.8 and see below on ARD version...
Have you upgraded the client (G4) to 3.x? 2.x is the default installation.
KR - good question, I created the client package via Create Client Installer in ARD and manually installed it on the G4. This should have upgraded the ARD client to v3, right? I haven't found a way to verify the ARD client version (suggestions gladly received!) except the recorded version number in com.apple.ARDAgent.plist - which lists 3.000000 as the version, which I'm assuming means v3.0
Is the G4 headless? Curtain mode only works on machines with monitors attached.
KR - that's good to know - the G4 does have a monitor, keyboard, and mouse attached. Along those lines the G4 has the factory installed video card and the LCD display is in 1280x1024 res. I tried 1024x768 res, same result...
Also, in case it makes a difference - I have the Sharing/Firewall on, Services Personal File Sharing, Remote Login - SSH, Apple Remote Desktop, Apple Remote Events, and Network Time allowed. The Macs are in my lab, all on a 100BaseT hub with no firewall or NAT in between each other.

windows 10 sleep mode not working

I hope this helps. But... I had the same problem last week. Now I don't as of 8/17/15. I am not sure if a windows 10 update fixed this. I do not like problems that without any assistance fix themselves. However, try sleep mode again. This problem may have been fixed.

  • Sleep Mode not functioning correctly after Mac OSX 10.6.5 update

    Hi
I have a Macbook Model Identifier 5,1. (1st gen Alum Macbook). I notice that after I updated to 10.6.5, I have a problem going to sleep mode. When I click on sleep, it will blacken the screen but the LED screen still glows. Usually, it glows for a few second and then the LED powers down so it will be completely dark. Now it just hangs there. I have to use the power down fucntion by pressing it for 4 seconds.
I tried disk utility repair permissions. ANy suggestions?
    Antonio

    Hi
I have similar problem with MacBook White Identifier 6.1. I have update 10.6.5 and I have a lot of problems with my MacBook. This problem is one of them. My MacBook also often show message Kernel Panic and I can use only power button. It is not good when arrange photos or do other things.
Update 10.6.4 was very good. I didn't have any problem. If I have version 10.6.5, can I return to version 10.6.4?
I don't know, what I can do. Any suggestions?
    Thanks

  • Stand-by / sleep mode not working when USB is connected

    Hello!
When the USB cable from my 24" LED Cinema Display is connected to my new Mac Pro 2,66 GHz Quad-Core, the stand-by / sleep mode does not work correctly: the Mac Pro goes to sleep normally, then the LED behind the on-/off-button flashes one time and then the Mac Pro awakes from sleep mode without any user interaction.
I already tried to reset PRAM, I tested all three rear-side USB connectors (I did not test the front-side USB connectors because the display's cable is way too short), I unplugged all other USB and Firewire devices and also tried sleep mode from a freshly created account. Alas, nothing helps.
As soon as the display's USB connector is plugged in, sleep mode does not work any more. It even doesn't matter if there are USB devices plugged into the display. Without connecting the display's USB plug, sleep mode works fine.
    So, any ideas out there?
Thanks in advance & best regards!
    Mario.

I fixed the problem, so I just post this to help others that might run into the same trouble.
The Mac Pro and the display were connected to a master/slave power socket. The problem is: when the Mac Pro goes to sleep, there still seems to be some power left in the display (which socket is switched off by the master/slave power socket). Therefore, the display goes off slightly after the Mac Pro. This powering off seems to release a signal on the display's USB wire that is connected to the Mac Pro and therefore switches the Mac Pro on again.
So, this is the same effect as removing a USB device from the Mac during sleep mode, what (at least in most cases) also starts up the Mac again.
As a result, there seems to be no other solution to this problem than removing the display from the master/slave power socket. Sadly enough, the LED Cinema Display consumes other 2 watts in stand-by mode...
    Cheers!
    Mario.

  • Sleep Mode Not Activating?

Hi everybody, I was perplexed to find that when sleep mode was activated nothing happened except for the monitor going blank. When I manually choose sleep mode I see the little white light pulsate and when I wake it up I hear the CD drive spin up. However, when I use the automatic go to sleep after 3 minutes of idle time or whatever... the light doesn't pulsate and it doesn't seem to be in sleep mode. Is their something that I am not seeing, or is their something interfering with sleep mode I am not sure! I am pretty good with apples, and the fact that I cannot figure out such a basic topic is frustrating. Anyway, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

However, when I use the automatic go to sleep after 3 minutes of idle time or whatever... the light doesn't pulsate and it doesn't seem to be in sleep mode.
Try setting the time higher and see if that helps, say 10-15 min.

  • After upgrade to 10.8.3 Sleep mode not functioning

    iMac
    OSX 10.8.3
Sleep mode does not function properly.

In what way is it not functioning properly?  If you go to System Preferences > Energy Saver are the sleep mode times where you want them?  When you logout, do you then click Sleep or do you let the iMac go to sleep according to the settings?  Do you have trouble coming out of sleep mode?

  • "Open in 32-bit mode" not available

Two iMacs, (2.66GHz & 1.83GHz), both running 10.6.2. The GET INFO window for SAFARI on the older iMac does not show the checkbox with "Open in 32-bit mode" beside it - the newer iMac does. Other noticeable difference is "Open using Rosetta" is 'active' (available {but not selected]) on the older iMac (Rosetta is installed), whereas it is 'greyed out' on the newer machine (where "Open in 32-bit mode" is available).
It 'appears' as if, on the miscreant iMac, that Safari IS running in the 32 bit mode whereas iPassword 2 is working fine in Safari - that version of 1Password isn't suppose to work in the 64 bit mode. If this is the case, how do I get SAFARI back to the 64 bit mode.
    Thanks

    HI Jim,
Open your Activity Monitor application. (Applications/Utiities) and select My Processes from the pop up menu.
You can view which apps run in 32 or 64-bit mode under Kind on the right.
If you don't run Safari in 32 bit mode, Safari is likely to crash and freeze. So your iPassword 3rd party app should be ok.

  • When in sleep mode, not calls or SMS received.

    Hello,
When my iPhone goes into sleep mode either automatically or manually it does not receive any SMS or incoming calls. Sometimes it takes up to 10 hours for it to show the SMS or missed call. I have to leave the iPhone on constantly and turn the brightness all the way down. Any ideas as to why this is happening?

I have missed a few calls and alarms because my iPhone, though set to ring and not in silent mode, inadvertently had the ringer volume is turned all the way down to zero. It's a bit surprising to me that when you (accidently) set the ringer volume to zero, it doesn't show that it's in silent mode, but I guess that's because the little switch isn't toggled.
To avoid missing calls, I've set the iPhone to vibrate even in ring mode.
But if that's not your problem, first shut the phone down, reboot, and test by calling from another phone. If that doesn't work, I'd do a reset. First sync (which backs up everything) and then reset, and everything is restored to just the way it was. You might have to sync a second time to get photos over. I have fixed a few problems with resets.

  • Macbook pro HD replace while in sleep mode(not off)

    Hi All
I would just like to find out..I had my hard disk replaced by an apple authorised repair tech..took the hd to them and asked them to just fit it for me I`ll do the data side by reinstalling OSX..They did the whole opporation for me but whne I got home I saw that my computer was in sleep mode and all the apps are still open? The new HD had nothing on it so I suppose it just ran off the memory.(I was quite furious since they did not shut down my computer before swapping out the HD) My MBP is only a week old and I am quite holy about my baby!
So my question is would this action that they performed in sleep mode have casued damage to my MBP? What can I check to make sure that it did not cause damage?
I ran an extended Apple hardware test and it came back with no issues..but I think my mac is a little slower than it was before so how can I be sure?

Are you telling us that when you got home with your computer and its new internal hard drive, *with nothing installed on the drive yet,* you woke the machine up and found applications open and running? I don't think that's possible. You have somehow misunderstood what was done or what you saw.
Go back to the shop and ask for an explanation of exactly what was done, preferably direct from the employee who did the work. After hearing him or her out respectfully, describe what you saw or thought you saw on your return home, and ask for an explanation of that.
I don't think you have any cause to be mad — at least not until the work and its results have been explained to you. But you are entitled to ask questions, calmly and politely, about exactly what you paid for.

  • Tecra S3: LPT port - EPP mode not available

How Can I change LPT port mode to EPP in Toshiba TECRA S3 ?
In the BIOS settings only ECP and SPP are available, but I have memory programmer that needs to be connected to LPT port working as EPP.
It doesn't work in ECP or SPP.

Maybe it's not so simple fact when this facility was implemented in chipset. BIOS is the only limitation.
There are another tools available for another copmuters (it usually means for another chipset) allowing lpt port mode to be temporarily changed to value not available in BIOS.
Does anybody have any information about this type of tools for Toshiba ?

  • My sleep mode not working right why?

My Mac Pro comes back on during the night when it's in sleep mode. Why?

It could be Bluetooth.  Do you have Bluetooth wireless mouse and keyboard?
I had this problem until recently.  It seems to have gone away since updating OS X to 10.8.5.
Open Console next time this happens to you.  Scroll to the point at which the machine went to sleep and then awakened.
If you see something like what I've pasted below, then you're bluetooth devices are waking the machine.

  • Partitions are read-only after sleep mod, not able to sleep again etc.

I have strange problem, after resuming from sleep mode the system is often lagging, even for minute or so nothing loads. Sometimes it even stops responding at all, I cannot log in and/or start XFCE4. If I succeed to reboot, I get messages about readonly filesystem. May the problem be bad settings in fstab? I tried several combinations of 0 and 1 for the dump and pass for the two NTFS file systems. But even the root talks about read-only than.
Or other case is most things works fine but I cannot make it sleep again, it just writes something like **Message: xfsm-shutdown-helper.c:1411: Using org.freedesktop UPower to suspend on the console where I am logged in and nothing happens.

From your statement "...after resuming from sleep mode the system is often lagging, even for minute or so nothing loads." I was thinking you might have the problem discussed in this thread: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=116355&p=1 but I see you have XFCE. Strange because this is exactly what other users and I are experiencing under KDE.
Try checking if your CPU or a core of your CPU is at 100% usage.
