Sleep mode while charging

can ipod touch turn off while power off ? because my battery of my 8GB ipod touch has some problem i think. the power drain very fast, around 1 day but i wifi sometimes (within 30 mins and i turn it off when i dun use it) and listen songs. the rest of the time is sleep mode.

Only when it is full, but if you have it connected to a computer that goes into sleep mode it will not only stop charging it can also deplete the battery.

  • IPad 2 won't go into sleep mode while charging

In the past couple of days my iPad 2 will not go into sleep mode while it is charging. The screen will go dim, but never go black. Any suggestions? I know I can just push the button on the top to force it into sleep mode and it will, but I've never had to do that before. I've had this iPad for over a year.

this is a software glitch, i suggest holding the home button and power button together untill you see the apple then let go, do not slide to power off, if all else fails you might have to restore the device to factory settings, still doesnt do that then its a hardware issue, and its probably going to be 250$ or more to replace

  • MBP no sleeping mode while charging!

    hi all,
my MBP doesn't go into the sleeping mode when I close it while it is charging! How can I change this?

We have probably deployed about 200 of the 15" MacBook Pro systems so far, and have only seen the issue on a handful of them. Fortunately the issue was discovered when the systems were imaged and had not yet been deployed. If you are having the issue, I would recommend that you report it to Apple.
Some people online were reporting that installing the NVIDIA Graphics Update 2009 (http://support.apple.com/downloads/NVIDIAGraphics_Update2009) would fix this problem. The update however was only available online briefly and then was pulled without explanation.
I really don't see how this would help though as we are not seeing the issue with all systems we are receiving. I figured there must have been a bad batch of 9400's that made it to production. It is really concerning if people are seeing the same thing on the new 17" models as well.

  • MacBook Pro comes out of sleep mode while lid is closed

    Hey guys,
I have a MacBook Pro that is slightly over a year old. I'm running Leopard 10.5.5, and I have a strange problem where the computer comes out of sleep mode while the lid is still closed. This happens without any USB plugs being inserted or removed. Basically it just comes out of sleep (I can tell because I can hear the hard drive spin up as well as the noise the cd-drive makes when it's woken up), then it seems to realize that the lid is still closed and goes back to sleep. This used to happen somewhat infrequently, but I got fed up when this happened today about 10 times in a row as I was trying to study for an exam.
I have applecare so I'm not worried about having to take it in, it's just a strange, annoying problem. I have not been able to find anything from searching google or the help forums, so if anyone knows what could be causing this and how I can fix the problem it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

I did as you said, and I think I found the perpetrating program. It showed:
    "11/28/08 11:41:24 PM [0x0-0xb90b9].com.apple.Safari[1261] Fri Nov 28 23:41:24 Macintosh-37.local Safari[1261] <Error>: Invalid JPEG file structure: SOS before SOF\n"
Any idea what this means? The only other thing that showed up as an issue was:
    "11/28/08 11:42:16 PM iCal[1267] * Assertion failure in -[CoreEventResizeTracker mouseUp:sender:], /SourceCache/iCal/iCal-1270/iCal/src/calendar-views/x-days/CoreEventCreationTra cker.m:697"
    or
    "11/29/08 12:19:34 AM com.apple.launchd[1] (com.apple.backupd-wake[1287]) Exited with exit code: 1"
I have no idea what this means, so if anyone can shed some light on it it would be very much appreciated.

  • Harddisk damage after sleep mode while running 3 virtual machine on Hyper-V

Hi, I have laptop with specification Intel Core i3, 8 Gb ram, 500 Gb 5400 rpm Hdd. I am running 3 virtual machine on that laptop using Hyper-V. Each vm have 1 Gb ram and 1 core processor. I left the laptop for
lunch. After comeback from lunch I see that laptop on sleep mode. I press the power button to turned back on the laptop, after the power is on, the harddisk won't boot and the disk become damage. Is there anyone could explain why that is
    happen?  Thanks  :)

    Hi Budi-Kurniawan,
Based on your description, this issue shouldn’t be caused by current configurations on your environment (as
you described: wake up from sleep mode while run 3 virtual machine on Hyper-V). I guess that there are some troubles in this harddisk. As Dave mentioned, please contact with laptop manufacturer and confirm it. I believe we will get a better assistance there.

  • My iPod nano will go into the sleep mode while a song is playing a second after the screen goes blank; the song will stop and I will then have to press the sleep/awake button to pick up where the song left off.  How do I fix this?

My iPod nano will go into the sleep mode while a song is playing a second after the screen goes blank; the song will stop and I will then have to press the sleep/awake button to pick up where the song left off.  How do I fix this?

Your problem is that your iPod is not sensing that your headset is inserted. There is a pin inside the headphone port on the Nano that senses if it is inserted fully. If it does not sense anything, it will pause playback to save battery power when the screen dims. Here are the solutions:
Insert it fully. This will fix it for most of you. Press that thing in there all the way. You should feel and hear a full click when it is fully seated. If you can see ANY silver of the headset jack, it is not fully inserted.
Debris inside the headset port. If you are totally unable to push the headset jack all the way, the most likely problem is that you have crud inside your headphone jack. Try blowing it out or slapping it against your palm with the headset port facing your palm to try and get the stuff out. If you look into he jack with a light, you should be able to see to the bottom. The entire inside of the headset port is white, so if it looks dark at the bottom, that is the crud that is keeping your nano from working.
Headset jack or plug issue. If you cannot solve the problem with 1 or 2, then there is likely something physically wrong with either the headset jack on your headphones or the headset port on the nano.
If none of the above works, you need to take it to the Apple store or wherever you purchased it. I think they are still under warranty.

  • IMac enters sleep mode while playing Blizzard games

About every 20 seconds my iMac enters sleep mode while playing Blizzrard games.  When I click the mouse or touch a key on the keyboard the iMac wakes up and the game is still running.  This has been happening more frequently over the past six weeks.  Now it occurs every twenty seconds.  I have turned off my sleep mode settings, reset the SMC, loaded the TechTool Deluxe and ran a diagnostic.  When TechTool Deluxe came to testing the video ram the utility crashed.  I ran TechTool Deluxe a second time and it crashed again while testing the video ram.  My iMac only has this problem playing Blizzard games.  I have contacted Blizzard and they don't have an answer.  Is it my video card? I have the NVIDIA GeForce GT 130 512 MB graphics card.  Any help would be appreciated.

Likely is the Video card, but...

  • Sleep Mode when Charging

Last night I docked my iphone to charge while I slept. I thought eventually it would go in to sleep mode. I kept waiting for the screen to go black it never did. The screen only went dim. This is problem number 4 for me. Anyone else with same problem?

i found a solution for this issue: simply restarting the device (turning it fully off, then back on again).
users are discovering that doing so fixes various minor issues that creep up, over time (like frequent safari crashes, etc.). so perhaps, like some computers, an occasional "restart" does a world of good.
    instructions:
    • turn the device off by holding down the sleep/wake button on top for about 5 seconds, until you see the red slide button, then slide across the red button to confirm.
    • i let mine sit for a minute (although that may not be necessary).
    • then turn it back on by holding down the sleep/wake button for a few seconds, until you see the white apple logo. from that point, the startup process took about 30-40 seconds. (your mileage may vary.)
now my iphone properly goes to sleep while charging. (and now this question can truly be marked "answered.")

  • Keeping hard drive in sleep mode while not in use

I've got a spare hard drive in my box, which I'm currently using for backups with rsync scheduled to be done once a day via crond. Since it's only used once a day, I figured it would be a good idea to put it into sleep mode by adding `hdparm -Y /dev/sdb` to my backup script. However, I've got a problem with it randomly waking up while opening GTK save dialogs and such. How can I stop it from doing that or make it automatically go into sleep mode after a set amount of time while keeping my root drive awake at all times? And yeah, I know all the downsides of doing that, but noise is the primary issue here.

You can check laptop-mode-tools for the various tunables they use to optimize disk usage and let it spindown as much as possible.

  • PowerBook enters sleep mode with charger on and with new battery in Full

    Hi all,
My powerbook enters in Sleep mode when it has a lot of energy. I have the powerbook with the charge on and battery in full charge and it still goes to sleep mode. It happens even when I'am working a lot with the computer. It appears that when a left my computer go to sleep over night the next day e goes a lot to sleep even when I'am working with the computer. I have tried to use just the charger, and just de battery but the error continues. I havemy power setting and it is e best performance (and it never goes to sleep in this mode).
I can only avoid this if I never put the computer to sleep, because I i put it i will start putting it self to sleep.
I have bought a new battery (7 months) and a new charger (2 month) recently, could be this the case?
What is happening to my computer?
It is my computer to ald and tired and needs to sleep a lot :/ ?
    Thanks for any help!

The date only goes to 1970-01-01 if e click in power on without the battery and the AC adapter.
If I remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter e wait many minutes and put back on the battery and the AC adapter a switch the power back on the date staid the same.
I have notice one other think, some times the new battery that a bought in apple store does not charge (a have to remove the AC adapter a plug back in for it to charge), the AC adapter is correctly plug-in but it does not charge. I am begging to suspect that it is something wrong the the hardware (or the battery or the charger) sell by apple store.
Is the any place for replace bad hardware still in warranty in apple store?
What is the place to contact apple suport for this matters?
    Thanks!

  • My iPad randomly goes into sleep mode while I am using it?

All of a sudden, when ever I use my iPad 2 it goes into sleep mode. It did it three times while I typed this message.  As I am running an app it will just go into sleep mode with out me doing so and I have to press the home button to wake it up. Doesn't matter what app I am running. I have 4gb of storage available.  Most of the time it brings me back to the app I was using when it went to sleep.  Has anyone else suffered this issue. I am running the latest iOS 6.0.

What "issue"? This is perfectly normal. By default, all (fairly-recent) Apple products will go to sleep if left idle for a certain period of time. This is NOT normal, however, if in the app, you are pressing buttons on the screen. If you are doing something like reading, for example, try setting your iPad to not go to sleep that quickly.
(Google how, I don't completely remember.)

  • 2010 MacBook remaining in sleep mode while open?

    Hi,
I have a 2010 MacBook 2.4 GHz, Mac OS X 10.6.6 that has developed a tendency to go into sleep mode after the laptop has been reopened. A cursory Google search didn't yield much information, hence the post here.
The problem is inconsistent — doesn't happen every time I close the laptop, — and I haven't been able to narrow it down to a specific cause.
Normally, when you close the MacBook while it's still on, it'll go into sleep mode. Right? The little light on the bottom right will fade in and out like the laptop is honk-shuuing away. It's all rather cute. Then, when you open the laptop up again, the light will switch off and the screen will come on.
That's not happening with my laptop: Once it's been closed, the fade in-out light action won't occur, and the screen will remain black after it's been reopened. This happens about 1 and 5 times and I've had to restart my machine every single time, for a total of 10 times now.
The problem began only recently — I've had the machine since May/June, — so I'm curious as to what is going on.
    Help?
    Thanks.

I had the same problem last month on my week 27 MB. I did a clean install of OSX and it was ok for a couple of days and then did the same thing again.
I sent it back to Amazon and within 3 days I had a brand new one. I have put the new one to sleep every night since getting it and multiple times during the day and so far it's been perfect!
Don't mess around with this problem, if you can, DEMAND a replacement!!
It's impossible that EVERY MB has this problem and I would keep replacing them until you get a good one. No company can expect people to use products like this that have issues like this. I am a photographer and sometimes lens makers like Canon or Nikon will make a bad "copy" of a lens and you can notice that it is not as good as it's supposed to be. It's the same thing with the MBs. Canon and Nikon don't expect you to keep the lens and Apple shouldn't expect us to keep broken MBs.

  • Turn off sleeping mode while backup data

    Hi there,
i want to backup files (1,2 TB) to an extern hard disk overnight but the iMac always fell in sleeping mode. I tried the apps caffeine and should i sleep but nothing changes. Is there somebody to help.
    Greetings, Marco

Have you tried  changing the built in settings?
System Preferences > Desktop & Screensaver - set that to never
    and
Energy Saver - set both computer and display sleep to never.
Don't forget to change them back when done.

  • Disabling Sleep mode while on dock

Hi there, I got my iphone about 3 weeks ago and I'm loving it.. I've already replaced my clock radio with it thanks to it's awesome multiple alarm times and schedules I can set for different days.
The query I have is a bit of a weird one. When I place my phone in it's dock next to the bed the charging icon comes up and the clock is displayed above that. All well and good.
However, as you would expect, the screen goes to sleep after 30sec. What I'm wondering (and I can't seem to see a way) is there a way to disable the screen sleep when the phone is on it's dock and charging. I would love to just use my phone as a clock next to the bed when I'm at home so I can easily glance at it and tell when time it is (say if I wake up in the middle of the night) rather than having to fumble around for it and unlock it.
Does anyone know a way to do this? Or is this just "not a feature (tm)"

Go for it, I would probably get it. But Auto-lock would still have to be set for never, or the screen would sleep anyway. You could also just open up the Clock app (with Auto-Lock set to never) for a somewhat larger clock display. Unfortunately, you can't set it for "docked."
Yes you would have to turn this on/off depending if it was in the dock if you were concerned about not locking it before you set it down or put it away. I always have Auto-lock set to never because I always press the sleep button when I put it away.

  • My Mac goes into sleep mode while playing videos or DVDs.

This started happening last week. I was watching Veronica Mars and all of a sudden my computer goes to sleep. At first I though it was because I had it on energy saver mode, but it just kept on happening. Tonight I wanted to watch Camp Rock on Disney XD and after a few minutes it shut down. I went on You Tube to watch my friend's videos and the same thing happened. Does anyone know what's wrong?

Welcome to Discussions - the problem is probably overheating, which causes your computer to sleep. Look in you Applications>Utilities>Console and see if your System log shows "maximum temperature exceeded for 30 seconds". This would indicate a problem with your Power Supply Unit or a faulty temperature sensor. You should take it in to be looked at.
