Sleep/Wake button SUNK IN. iPod won't turn on if not synced.

After leaving iPod on bed for an hour, the home button was already sunked in.
At first it was stuck in disk mode but then it won't turn on.
If you sync it, it would work.
If you remove it, NOTHING.

No much you can really do for this one other than schedule an appointment at your local Apple Store/Genius Bar and see if there is anything they can do for you.  If they deem it to be accidental damage, you'll need to pay the repair/replacement fee if you so desire, always I'm afraid you are out of luck.

Anyone know how to fix a stuck sleep/wake button on the IPOD Touch?

If the songs are still on your ipod, make sure autosync is disabled in iTunes on your computer, connect and right click on it in the device list, then choose "transfer purchases" to copy all bought media and apps from your ipod to your computer.
If the songs are not on your computer and got deleted from your ipod as well, you can't get them back, unless you have a backup of your iTunes library as part of your computer backup.

  • I have downloaded songs and when I play them they stop playing. I have to hit the sleep/wake button for the ipod to come on and hit play, then the song will continue playing where it left off

Why are songs cutting out in the middle and my ipod shutting down?I have to hit the sleep/wake button to turn it back on and hit play again. Then, the songs will play from where it left off.

  • IPhone 4's sleep/wake button sunk in?

So out of the blue yesterday, my iPhone 4 sleep button sunk in. When you shake the phone, you can hear the button jingle. The button itself works, but you have to press harder and it only works if you press the right side of it. It doesn't make that "click" noise anymore...
If I go to the apple store, will they replace my phone? It's still under it's one year warranty.

Hello, yeah this happened to me too, the thing is though it's about to be a year that I have this phone and it most likely will be out of warranty. This is a replaced model too, so I really don't know what to do. The button is unresponsive at times, so i just give up.

  • My ipod sleep/wake buttons won't work..stuck?!

the sleep/wake button on my ipod is not working andits stuck. It's like its been pressed down there and is stuck inside and its pressed in so much  its flat on the top of the ipod:(...tried pulling it out..not worked...cant take ring apple as warranty has expired..could i still take it to the genius bar..could they help me or do i have to have a valid warranty or can i still go in even if its expired? i pressed the button and then it just got stuck..any help or advice greatly appreciated

So the iPod only powers on when connected to an external power source such as a USB port on your PC or Mac or when connected to a wall charger?  If so, that is a very good indication that your iPod's battery is shot and in need of replacement.
Apple can swap it out for a flat fee or you can send it to a third party repair service for a bit less.

  • Sleep/Wake button doesn't work

I just got my iPod touch yesterday, and the Sleep/Wake button worked for a while... but then after syncing the touch to my computer a second time, the sleep/wake button doesn't work anymore. I can't put the iPod in sleep mode, and I can't turn it off either, and I can't do a hard reset (or whatever it's called when you hold both the buttons down). I've reset using iTunes and through the iPod itself, and it isn't solving the problem.
    Any ideas?

  • Busted Sleep/Wake Button:

Does anyone know if there is an app or two out there that I can use to put the iPhone to sleep and shutdown the iPhone without needing to use the sleep/wake button on the top? Thank you!

No. Not possible under the SDK. You'll need a hardware repair/replacement.

I have An Ipod Touch 4g and My Sleep/Wake Button is stuck inside so i am unable to press it How can i fix this?

If not caused by accidental damage, the iPod Touch includes a one year warranty. If your iPod Touch remains under warranty, you can call AppleCare or make an appointment at an Apple store if there is one nearby. If the iPod Touch remains under warranty you open the iPod Touch youself or by a 3rd party, doing so will void the warranty. If you live near an Apple Store, make an appointment to see if the store can get the button unstuck. If not under warranty, there won't be any charge for this.

If your iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad is Broken
Apple does not fix iDevices. Instead, they exchange yours for a refurbished or new replacement depending upon the age of your device and refurbished inventories. On rare occasions when there are no longer refurbished units for your older model, they may replace it with the next newer model.
ATTN: Beginning July 2013 Apple Stores are now equipped to do screen repairs/replacements in-house on iPhone 5 and 5C. In some cases while you wait. According to Apple this is the beginning of equipping Apple Stores with the resources needed to do most repairs for iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches that would not require major replacements. Later in the year the services may be extended as Apple Stores become equipped and staffed with the proper repair expertise. So, if you need a screen repaired or a broken screen replaced or have your stuck Home button fixed, call your local Apple Store to see if they are now doing these in-house.

  • 2nd gen ipod touch sleep/wake button will not work

Like the title says, the sleep/wake button (top button) doesn't work on my 2nd gen ipod touch. In short, I can't put it into sleep mode (I have to wait the one minute), turn it off to save the battery, take screenshots, or even reset it (without iTunes, anyways).
I don't have any guesses on why it's not working. It just stopped working one day. I don't see water damage (via the water damage detector in the earbud jack), and I don't think I dropped it in a way that would harm it (unless dropping it on carpet counts).
I should also mention that randomly, one day after school, I was messing with it, and the button worked. I think the battery had died, and I managed to turn it on then. It worked for a few hours (I charged the battery), and then it went back to not working.
The warranty's up (and I'm broke), so I can't repair it. I also want to point out that the problem started not long after the warranty expired. What, at this point, is my best option? Should I just save up for the newest model? Or would it be cheaper and more efficient to save up just enough for a repair? Any other options I should consider?
    Thanks in advance.

As I said, you can move on to Restore. Backup everything then Restore as New. Restoring from backup would just copy whatever software issue you may have. But it sure looks more and more like a hardware problem. Take a close look at the button to see if perhaps some dirt particles are stuck there.
You can also make an appointment with a Gnius at the nearest Apple store to have it diagnosed. Apple does not fix iPods, they just replace them with refurbished units, so it won't be cheap. Prices are here: http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/prices/
You can Google for third part repair hops or do-it-yoursel kits.
    Good luck.

  • My daughter tried to open a game on her Ipod touch and the screen went white and I can't get it to do ANYTHING...I've tried holding the sleep/wake button and it does NOTHING, still only a white screen.

My daughter tried to play the My Horse game on her Ipod touch that she got for Christmas and when she opened the game it said something about sending "push notifications" and gave the choice of "don't allow" or "ok"...we chose "don't allow". After that the screen went white and now we cannot get the Ipod touch to respond to anything. I tried holding the sleep/wake button to try to restart it and it doesn't seem to work. Any suggestions to get this device working again???

Try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If that doesn't work, try a Restore:
From iTunes, select the iPad and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad.
There's more that you can do.  Post back if none of the above solves the problem.
By the way, I always allow "push."  That allows the app developer to "push" information to your device rather than waiting for you to ask for it.  However, "don't allow" shouldn't cause the problem that you're experiencing.
