Sleep while iTune is streaming ...

Hi,
While looking to a movie streaming from iTunes on my Apple TV 2, the movie stopped. This seem to be related to the fact that my iMac goes to sleep while streaming to my Apple TV 2 ?
Shouldn't iTunes prevent the sleep process while streaming ? Does anyone have an idea what is not configured correctly ?

yes. the imac needs to stay awake.

no it wouldn't as itunes it not technically doing anything, it's the appletv that is reading from the itunes library. you will need to adjust your sleep settings in system preferences.

I recently noticed my mac goes to sleep while iTunes is streaming video to my AppleTV or my other Mac (using Home Sharing). Extremely annoying. It never did this before. What could cause this issue?
I have recently moved my entire library to an external disk. Can this be the issue? Maybe the disk spins down after a period of inactivity, and then MacOSX thinks the mac is inactive and goes to sleep.
Or might there be other causes?

Computer sleeps while iTunes is playing

Just like the title says, my Mac goes to sleep even when iTunes is playing. This is pretty ludicrous. Is there anyway to prevent this other than changing my power savings settings to never let my Mac go to sleep? I don't want to do that, I want my computer to go to sleep when I am not using it.
This sure seems like a bug. I am running the newest version of iTunes as well as Lion. Thanks for all your help.
My current energy saver settings are:
Computer Sleep: 15 min
Display Sleep: 15 min
Put hard disks to sleep when possible - yes
wake for network access - yes
allow power button to put the computer to sleep - yes
start up automatically after a power failure - no
restart automaticall if the computer freezes - no
Again, I would rather not have to change these settings in order to keep iTunes playing. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

Jake, did you find any solution? I'm having exactly the same problem, though I just upgraded to OSX 10.8.2. I have basically all the same settings as you have. In fact I did try unchecking the "put hard disk to sleep whenever possible" for a while, but didn't help. Still goes to sleep after about 1 hour of otherwise inactivity (i.e only itunes playing). This has got to be a bug, and seems to be affecting a lot of people. I'll keep an eye on this topic.

G5 sleeps while streaming with TV 2.0

This did not happen until I updated to 2.0. If I am streaming television shows from my G5 to the TV the G5 will go to sleep at whatever sleep interval is set in System Preferences. Prior to the TV update the G5 did not sleep while streaming. Tonight I get a "no content" error on the TV when the G5 goes to sleep.
Any idea why streaming video is no longer keeping the G5 awake?

That makes 4 of us - mine sleeps when it's syncing content.
I bought an ATV 10 days ago and it was from the old stock (old style box, software version 1.0) but I had to take it back today as it developed a bunch of faults. So they gave me one of the brand new ones with 2.0 already installed and in the new style box. Everything seemed to be OK but my G5 has gone to sleep twice this evening while syncing content. I'm trying to copy over a movie and it's really annoying the **** out of me. The worst bit is that it shows the sync progress in itunes, goes to sleep and when I take it out of sleep mode, it starts syncing the movie right from the very beginning again.
The 1.0 model didn't cause my G5 to sleep - caused a lot of other problems but not that particular one...

Computer Sleeps While Syncing Photos

Hi Guys,
iPhone 3GS current software
iTunes Current software
Windows 7 64bit current updates
My computer is set to NEVER sleep regardless of battery power or plugged in. If I select a folder to sync that is around 400+ images, once I hit the sync button iTunes will begin transferring and converting the images but will ALWAYS cause the computer to sleep while in the middle of the sync... really it seems that something at the end of the sync process is causing this. It does this regardless if I am activly working on the computer.
If I select a folder with less images this does not happen.

How can I make a "Keyboard Lock" while iTunes or other apps are playing? They should work/play on, screen should still be on, only keyboard is (maybe Password-) locked.

Menu > Apple > System Preferences > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts Application Shortcuts > + > Application: Browse to Pages > Menu Title: Footnote > Keyboard Shortcut: hit combination of keys > Add
You will need to restart Pages but should then see it next to your Menu item.

SAP MII 14.0 SP5 Patch 11 - Error has occurred while processing data stream Dynamic Query role is not assigned to the Data Server

Hello All,
We are using a two tier architecture.
Our Corp server calls the refinery server.
Our CORP MII server uses user id abc_user to connect to the refinery data server.
The user id abc_user has the SAP_xMII_Dynamic_Query role.
The data server also has the checkbox for allow dynamic query enabled.
But we are still getting the following error
Error has occurred while processing data stream
Dynamic Query role is not assigned to the Data Server; Use query template
Once we add the SAP_xMII_Dynamic_Query role to the data server everything works fine. Is this feature by design ?

I thought that just adding the role to the user and enabling the dynamic query checkbox on the data server should work.
But we even needed to add the role to the data server.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can't, but you have a few alternatives.
Best option: If you made the movie on the DVD in iMovie (or even another editing application) and still have the project, go back to the project and export it for Apple TV (using the Apple TV preset)
Next best option: If you still have the original movie that you put on the DVD, open it in QuickTime and export it for Apple TV (using the Apple TV preset)
Worst option: Use something like Mpegstreamclip (Quicktime Mpeg2 playback component required) to convert the DVD to h264.

Error encountered while copying audio stream

In Captivate 4, I attempt to capture screens. I hear the clicking as it captures, I click END when finished. Program attempts to save and then a dialog box displays with "error encountered while copying audio stream". I am not attempting to record any audio.
I searched the web and found references to this error back two versions and two years - but no solution.
Does anyone know of a solution? Thanks.

I have experienced this on Windows XP. In my case this was due to a dll (Dynamic Link Library) file not being corectly registered in the Windows XP Registry. If you are using XP then take a look at the following blog post.

Getting a -54 error while iTunes is adding content. Any ideas on how to recify error. I am trying to rebuild the database without much luck. My media content is kept on a seperate drive than the system.

Why, after a while, Itunes on my PC can't read anymore Ipad?

Why, still after around 15 months from the purcvhase, after a while, Itunes on my PC( win7) can't read anymore Ipad and the only way to make it work is reinstalling completely Itunes once again?
I tried the proceeding suggested on the help online( cleaning the previous installation deleting some folder and so on): no way.

It sounds as if your Windows computer is not detecting the iPad in iTunes. Let's see if we can get that fixed up.
