Sleep - won't wake up, and now randomly goes off to sleep

Since the recent security update, my 1.67 G4 Powerbook has been experiencing problems with sleep. Sometimes it won't wake from sleep, forcing me to hard reboot or pull all power out, and now it's randomly falling into sleep when it shouldn't.
The issue is progressive - it will sleep, then I wake it, then it goes down again 2-3 minutes later, wake, then seconds, wake, then deep somnambulistic slumber.
I read in Macintouch that there was a fix recently for Intel MacBooks and sleep, but some of us in the PPC world are feeling it's effect.
I've reset the pram several times, and on one occasion the fan spun up very loudly on boot, then quieted down after 5 seconds. Might be nothing.
Another factor is the battery - pull the battery and the system behaves better. I wonder if there's a lowered thermal limit that, when the battery is charging, causes the system to shut to sleep...?
Anyone else having this problem? I'm ready to slip back to 10.4.9 to see if that makes it more stable -- this happens several time a day now.

The laptop did keep shutting down into sleep, but - following from a tip from another site - I began trying three things: One or all seem to have resolved the issue:
* Repair permissions - often and always. Something does get munged and I'd be interested to see if anyone else has the same files affected:

* I stopped zapping the PRAM when it went to sleep or wouldn't stay awake on boot - I just booted from DVD instead and, lo and behold, the thermal errors didn't occur under the DVD. Fixed permissions and a reboot it often worked fine for hours.
* Running it alternatively from either battery or from mains. Initially under the battery, it would sleep at 70-60%, then - after a few days of being shut down instead of slept - it began running down to 0. I'd have to plug the unit in and charge it whilst off, but now -- after a week of this - everythings back to normal.
Ultimately, I'm sure this software. Something is up - and slowly, if you're patient, you can bring your system back without buying a new case or motherboard.

I have a mid 2011 baseline 15in Macbook Pro that has been acting up since upgrading to Mountain Lion. When I put it into sleep mode the machine runs extremely hot and won't wake up without a hard shutdown. This happens about 25% of the time. Any ideas?

Sorry I meant OS Maverick, not Mountain Lion. Everything worked fine on Mountain Lion.

Random Sleep/ Won't wake up

Since installing 10.4.6, my computer goes to sleep after being on 15 minutes, sooner if I use a memory intensive program. Then, when I try and wake it up, it immediately goes back to sleep mode? Is this Tiger or my computer? Any ideas?

I'm afraid it sounds like your computer - a failing Power Supply Unit. If you have AppleCare, I would call them and arrange to take your computer in and have it checked out before the problem gets worse.

MBP goes to sleep, won't wake up!?!?

Recently my MacBook Pro has began going to sleep, either after not being used or after I shut it, and then it won't wake up and has to be restarted manually, which costs me data, time, etc.
I've researched the problem, but haven't seen anything that sounded exactly like what I am going through.
Plus I'm not the best at fixing stuff myself (lets just say I'm not going to get hired as a MacGenius anytime soon).
Help me! I'm writing my National Board Papers right now and need my machine to be reliable!!!

I have just started having the same problem. I used to be able to use the MBP for a few minutes, leave it on the table and let it go to sleep. Come back anytime and it would wake. Now it won't, and I have to go back and plug it in to get it to wake. I have just now noticed that the battery is almost drained. I used to be able to do this for a couple of days without charging, and now it won't make it 12 hours.
The battery being almost drained would explain the no wake, but now the question is why it is draining so quickly even in sleep mode. Especially when I used to tell everyone how great the MBP is, and how long the battery lasts and how quick is starts up. Of course I was telling this to all my co-workers where we are stuck with the company issued Dell.
I think this may have all started after upgrading to 10.5 or iLife08, as those are the only two programs that have recently been added.

Won't sleep, won't wake

I'm having two problems with sleep mode:
WON'T SLEEP
my iMac G5 won't sleep even though sleep mode is activated in Energy Save preference pane (file sharing off).
WON'T WAKE
When I put my machine to sleep at night (sleep item under apple menu), it won't wake up in the morning. The blinking sleep light indicates my iMac is in sleep mode. I hit a key to wake it. The sleep light turns off. Nothing else: no noise, no screen but the black on. I wait a few minutes and press the power button: nothing happens. Once it starts up after a hard boot (power button, 5 secons). Most of the time I have to wait an hour or two and then I can start up my machine by pushing the power button.
This problem occured yesterday for the first time. Today I did many test with same results: no wake after "manual" sleep mode and no "automatic" sleep.
Note: Apple Hardware Test did not detected any problem.

Even though the hardware test did not indicate a problem, you may still have one. I'd give AppleCare a call. Also note, if you are out of the one year or AppleCare coverage, you may still qualify for this program:

You can't merge accounts or copy content to a different account, so anything that you bought or downloaded via the old account is tied to that account - so any updates that those apps get you will only be able to download via that account. You can change which account is logged in on the iPad via Settings > Store

I've tried resetting safari, deleting all webpage data and setting time/date to automatic, but no such luck.
The message that comes up is: "Safari can't establish a secure connection to the server 'Facebook' "
I'd be genuinely impressed if anyone were to actually work out what was wrong.

Might be a cookies, cache, or extensions issue.
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
Click: Remove All Website Data
Then delete the cache.
Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that doesn't help, troubleshoot Safari extensions.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.

I'm happy to say that I solved the problem, and for the community (for the "next generation" that will search a solution for this problem) - I will publish the solution for this problem : I defined as new iphone, and then the restore showed up!

You say you have iOS6: you can perfectly well pay to extend your free storage as an ex-MobileMe subscriber.

To delete from the Recently Added playlist and also from your library, select the items in the Recently added playlist and press Option Delete on your keyboard.
Select Move to trash.
Option Delete will remove an item from the library, even if it's in a smart playlist, thus removing it from any playlist.

Done restore and now it goes to blank screen with timer

Can anyone help, I have done a restore on my ipod and now it goes from the locked screen to a blank screen with the timer, wont let me do anything to it not even turn the thing off.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
