Sleeve for mbp in montreal????

I was wondering if anyone was able of buying a sleeve for their mbp's in the montreal area. My computer store sells sleeves for powerbooks, but the are keen on the fact that it doesnt fit a mbp. I have tried several stores on st catherine, futurshop, and not being lucky. any hint would be appreciated....

The sleeves for powerbooks are 1 inch shorter but depending on the make and material, some do fit.. Just take your MBP along and ask to try it yourself.. They can't refuse that.

  • Backpack w/sleeve for MBP?

I'm looking for a good backpack/daypack for my MacBook Pro - as I own so many Osprey packs, I looked there first and found the "Focus" - http://www.ospreypacks.com/focus_flux.htm - says it will fit laptops with screens up to 15.4"...
...any thoughts? Anyone know of other products? I've a Brenthaven shoulder case that I bought from Apple when I bought my 12" PB but, of course, the sleeve is much too small for the MBP (and I'd rather have backpack this time aound). I also found a very nice looking backpack at the Brenthaven website - http://www.brenthaven.com/catalog-apple-pro-15-17.html - that looks nice but it's $80 more than the Osprey (although looking at the spec sheet it may be worth the $80 difference).
Any thoughts, experiences or suggestions would be appreciated!

The strange thing, for e, is that I'm much more accustomed to shopping for backpacks made for backpacking and these 'boutique'-style laptop backpacks don't use the same terminology or specifications used by backpack manufacturers, so it's tough for me to picture exactly what the interior is going to look like. The other odd thing is that some of these bags weigh more than some of my larger week-long backpacks! All the padding, I suppose. AND, of course, the cost is higher than even the 'high end' daypacks from backpack manufacturers that offer (at most it seems) a simple sleeve to accommodate a laptop.
My Brenthaven shoulder bag, however, has withstood a good deal of abuse without ever allowing damage to come to my 12" PB after 2 1/2 years... but I just like the design of the Booqbag better, I think, than the Brenthaven backpack. (And in reading Marc's review - I'm definitely leaning toward the Booqbag!)
If those of you who offered input wouldn't mind taking a look at these two bags and offering your opinion, I would appreciate it. Although more expensive, I;m leaning towards the Booqbag - doesn't make sense to become a cheapskate when trying to protect almost $4,000 of gear!
Thanks to all - I had no idea that some of these companies existed - and I'm looking forward to hearing opinions: I'll need to order Wednesday to get second day delivery by Friday, I suppose!

  • MacCase Sleeve for MBP 15"

I found this case which doesn't look too bad.
Does anyone have any experience with this brand of sleeve?
Wondering if it is really a good case or note before ordering online.

  • Sleeve for MBP Retina 15"

I am looking for a sleeve/bag that will protect my Retina MacBook Pro inside my backpack. All the sleeves I've found have ok padding but not enough when being placed between books in a full backpack. Does anyone know of any cases that will provide a generous amount of padding without being too big?

    sig,
Never even heard of those - saw your first post and ordered one. Thanks for the link - looks as if they have some really nice stuff (all I have now is a 'standard' neoprene sleeve - the video sold me!).
Got it bookmarked now in 'case' some folks ask again.
    Thanks,

  • Where can I find a snug fitting sleeve for late 2013, 13" MBP with retina?

I was able to find many sleeves sold for MBP retina, but they also fit regular MBP. I want a snug fitting sleeve, specifically tailored for the retina display 13" MBP from late 2013. Does anyone know of any? Your help is appreciated.

I was about to provide you a link of a very nice case, but it's for the non-retina MacBook Pro's. You could use them but it your MacBook wouldn't fit tightly in them.

  • Case recommendations for Mbp 13"?

I am loving my new MBP 13" and I am totally lost on what type of case to protect it to buy! I have read pros and cons about the hard icase as well as the satin case! I really want something that isn't as bulky but I don't want my mBp to get damaged either! Do these cases really protect it or is it more of a fashion statement? What is the actual necessity of having one?

I have a Speck Hardshell case (in clear). In my opinion, it adds no bulk and minimal weight (by like, maybe a few ounces). It's protected my computer from scratches, and I love it. It's a nice way to keep the unibody pristine while still showing off the aluminum or having a different color (I almost went with blue). I also have the Paul Frank monkey 13 inch sleeve for my MBP. With the Speck case on, it still fits in the sleeve perfectly and it's great for traveling and extra protection in my bookbag from spills, dirt, etc.
Edit: I also have the Moxi palmguard/trackpad cover to prevent it from getting dirty/worn down. It works wonderful and, despite the reviews, the trackpad still responds the same with the tap-click/regular click/gestures with no extra effort for me. I recommend getting the iKlear cleaning solution to clean your MPB as well for regular use as well as putting on the case (trapped dirt can scratch the MPB), and the iKlear works wonders cleaning the body, screen, and other electronics.

  • Sleeve for new (7/11) MacBook Air?

I'm looking for a recommendation for a sleeve for my new MBA.  I bought the Incase sleeve from the Apple Store, but the Air swims in it. (I guess I should have realized that possibility, as the sleeve is also advertised as usable with a MBP.)  I'd like something that fits a good deal closer to the machine.  Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Does anyone have any experience with them? They now offer a full shield pack for MBPs.
I want to get some feed back before I chuck down $100 to get it for all my gadgets/computers.
    Thanks

More to say… If you haven’t already purchased a sleeve, take a look at the Italian made Tucano’s Second Skin. I mention this in relation to your protection pack. I now have 3-sleeves and 3-bags so I have learned what works and what works very well. It’s also made from the same micro-fiber as many of the keyboard/display protectors. In fact, the Second Skin sleeve also includes a really thin keyboard cover that adds to your travel accessories. This way, you’ll have an extra cover along with one of the best sleeves out there.

  • Carrying Case for MBP

I was thinking about getting a sleeve for my MBP and carrying it around in my backpack on one edge of the screen. But, on this forum, people are talking about warped lids and uneven sides when the lid is closed. Would carrying the MBP on one edge cause the lid to warp or make it close unevenly? Thanks

Whichever sleeve you end up buying, just make sure your precious MBP is well protected. I learned the hard way last week. The mac was inside a sleeve and my rucksack when it fell about a 2 ft to the ground. The resulting damage to the bottom casing cost me £320 to repair...
The next day I went out and bought the best possible protective bag I could afford...

  • What is the ideal resolution combo for MBP 13" and Projector?

In our school district we are using 13" MacBook Pro's (OS X 10.7 Lion) and external epson projectors, projecting to a Promethean Smart Board. The default resolution for a MBP is 1280X800, that is a no brainer. Now everything I've been reading says that projectors like to be on 1024X768. When we do that the projector resolution dictates that resolution to the MBP screen and the MBP screen is of course distorted. They don't play nice when trying to set independent settings. We've found that 1280X800 for MBP and 1280X960 for the projector works best. When set at these settings and you plug and unplug the VGA adapter the settings on the MBP hold to 1280X800. But we have to keep calibrating the Promethean Smart Board though inbetween plugging and unplugging the VGA adapter's. Any ideas?

Try setting up the projector at 1024x768 as it calls for, but you want to use the best image. This might require a resolution reset as you are dealing with 3 different viewing sources. (ahh, if only they would come up with a standard.
You can try a pram reset with everything up and running, this can sometimes correct distortions.
    NVPRAM reset:
Power down the mac, power it back up, before the start up chime, press and hold the following keys:
option, command,P,R,(no commas) and continue to hold these keys till you hear the start chime 2 times. See what you have. You might have to reboot.
Also you can try connecting the projector, fire up the mac then the projector, it might auto-detect. You can try system preferences click detect displays,
As for the smart board, you would have to contact the manufacturer for details.
I know I have not offered much here, but it's worth a try, can't hurt anything.
Also, if you plan to contact the Community in the future, please ammend your profile with the model and OS you are using, as it could help you get more info.
Does your IT person have  stuff locked out? Most school districts have many of the useful tools locked out.
The reason I know this is my wife is a school teacher, and we end up doing most of her multi media stuff on one of our personal computers, because of the lock down imposed on the entire staff.
I hope there is something that might help you here. If not get your IT person to make it happen.(If they can)
    Good luck

  • Apple Care plan for MBP

Does anyone know why the Apple care plan for MBP is more expensive than all the other Apple care plans? Even the Mac Pro has a cheaper plan. It doesn't make sense to me.

It's obvious to me. My Mac Pro sits in one place, undisturbed. It has a generous, efficient cooling system. It's easy to service.
My MacBook Pro is carried around town. It's jostled back and forth in my bag as I walk, or as my car goes over bumps. I'm always putting it on tables, creating a slight impact each time. It goes through a lot more power/temperature cycles as it sleeps and wakes. The components are smaller, tightly packed, more expensive to disassemble and service. A laptop goes through a lot more stress and trauma than a desktop, so a laptop is much more prone to failure.

  • Video Player for MBP

    Hi,
I wanted to know some video players which are currently available for MBP. I cannot play any .avi and .wmp files on Quicktime.
Can anyone please tell me which players are recommended for the MBP?

VLC can play DivX videos. Here is a complete list of all the codecs supported by VLC:

One note: avi is a file format, not a specific video encoding algorithm. For example, you can have an avi file that contains a Divx video, or an avi file that contains an mpeg video.

  • Please recommend a good sleeve for the pismo

    Hi,
Can any of you loving pismo owners please recommend a good sleeve for our beloved pismos. I'm looking for one that would fit the pismo pretty much like a glove, so it won't slide and then I can put the pismo in an another bag.
Thanks so much for your suggestions!

I bought a perfect sleeve for mine from Timbuktu. This was a few years ago and I'm not sure they carry it anymore (look on eBay?). I see that the manufacturer makes other sleeves that look nice, too, now. Mine fits the laptop like a glove. It's open at the top with two cloth-padded handles and a strap that snaps into place over the middle of the opening. The padding is nice and thick -- about 1/2." I lugged it in my backpack all around Europe for a summer and it came through just fine.

  • What anti-virus software is recommended for MBP? CR recommends AVG?

I am interested in getting an anti-virus program for MBP. I see on CR AVG, which is free and good. Does anyone recommend or have anoher recommmendation?

Why? There are no viruses affecting Macs. Just use common sense. Don't open email attachments you don't know where they came from. Same with software. Don't download or install software you don't know where it came from and you will be fine.
