Sli-bridge incl with P6N Diamond??

Ive just orderd a new mobo, P6N Diamond. And was wondering if the SLI-bridge is incl in the box? I cant find anything about that. Mayby a stupid question here for all tech-heads.....sry for that

You don't need to. As it is a board with a sli chipset MSI has to add a bridge. The reminder doesn't pertain to the bridge. Any retail MSI board with sli chipset comes with a bridge, no matter the area where it is sold.
Because nVidia don't ship SLI bridges with their cards.

I have been having lots of problems with Windows XP just locking up on me.  It has happened 3 times now, and I am tiring of re-building my PC from scratch.  Every time, it works for a while, and then, just locks up one day.
At this point, I've removed my partition, rebuilt it, reformatted and re-installed windows.  I'm currently running the AMI v1.3 bios.  I've loaded the latest nVidia drivers (9.53 driver package).  I've loaded the latest graphic drivers from EVGA (169.02_XP32).
I've read lots of posts in various forums about issues with SATA settings on nVidia systems, but I can't seem to find a post that is clear about the best settings.  They mentioned disabling command queuing, using/not using SiL drivers, etc.  Can anyone offer any insight that might help me straighten out my system?  I am close to tossing it out a window.

  • SLI with P6N Diamond not working.

I have installed 2 8800GT's and can't get them to run at 16x in SLI mode. So far I've installed the two cards in the top 2 slots and the 2 white slots. I've installed the bridge. According to GPU Z, the bus interface is operating PCI-E 16x @ 8x in either place.
Is there something I'm missing? Is there anything in the Bios I need to set?

  • Help with P6N Diamond X-Fi drivers

Ok, even though we have a fair share of threads with problems with this on board sound, im sure some of you must have it working correct.
So if you do, please tell me which driver you are using for the X-Fi.
Im running Windows Vista 64bit UK and if I use the driver from the CD I get the problem with the microphone not working. (It says its connected when its not, and vice versa.)
When I use the driver downloaded from the support page I can use the microphone, but none of the fancy properties of the sound card.
I tried MSI's support and was told:
    Dear Customer,
Please install driver patch for the sound card from ftp. (ftp.msi.com.tw)
    Driver\Driver Patch 2.zip.
    Thank you!
So, I downloaded the file, unpacked it, and have tried different ways of "installing" it. (Clicking on the exe does not seem to work, and copying the files into the filesystem where the installed driver is located did not help either.) Since it had no effect I'm completely clueless to what the idea is behind this patch. If anyone can figure it out I would very much like to hear about it.

Yes, none of the suggestions work.
The first suggestion: Don't use the front panel.
I have already disconnected the front panel completely.
The second suggestion refers to a "Headphone Detection tab" that, although mentioned in the Audio Console help file, does not show up on my computer.
I find it rather amusing that a top-of-the-line board, specially focusing on the on-board audio, does not have a working Vista audio driver.
The board is now almost one year old, and 10 months has passed since the Vista launch.
Whats even more amusing is that Creative, who put their name on the on-board audio, does not want to have anything to do with this on-board sound either.
Reading about all the other problems with the board and experiencing plenty of these problems myself.. perhaps its time to return it, and add myself to the list of people who don't care about this board....

No, sorry.. I only have Vista x64 platform to use and test (license only  )
    Q: PSU details.

    Rosewill RX750-S-B Xtreme 750W ATX12V v2.2 EPS12V v2.91  (voltages per bios in spec)

Yes (data from dxdiag for you)
    Driver Version: 7.15.0011.6375 (English)
    DDI Version: 9Ex
    Driver Attributes: Final Retail
    Driver Date/Size: 10/4/2007 17:14:00, 4993024 bytes
    WHQL Logo'd: Yes
Q: Power cables to both VGA's connected?  &  SLI Bridge connected?
Interesting point   With this particular setup, these MSI NX8500GT TD256EH cards do not have SLI bridge and do not require power plugged into video card.  SLI option has onboard bridge controller and is recognized by nvidia drivers and nTune control panel (i am actually able to enable SLI this way w/o a bridge)  yes, I had to rub my eyes too a few time while researching this configuration.
Mainboard supports ATX 24pin powerconnector (ATX1) and a ATX 12V (JPW1) 8 pin connector.  The power supply supports these types of connections to mainboard.  I will need to reboot after this post and do a visual inspection of reported BIOS voltages for you though and will do so.

Running the p6n diamond with the E8400 and I can not seem to get the EIST to work.  I try to enable it in the bios, but once I exit it goes back to disabled.  Even with the F4 in the bios, I do not see any options for the C1 feature.  Currently I have my CPU OCed to 3.6GHz, but that is recent and I could never get the EIST to work even at stock speeds.

It should be under "CPU Features".  Press F4 multiple times while you are in that BIOS Section.

  • Any News (MSI) P6N Diamond (680i) SLI Motherboard

Any one know about the release of  (MSI) P6N Diamond (680i) SLI Motherboard

    Quote
honestly, if it's not for SLI, I think I'll wait for ATI, ops, AMD RD600 chipset mobo instead.
I complete agree with that.  Just getting bored with the Opteron system. I have an insider I am getting a e6600 from for 1/2 price this week, so I was looking at boards.  Think I want to try the 680i over the 975, and while the RD600 looks like it will be a winner it's still a ways out.
MSI had stated end of December for the P6N and that time is upon us.
Honestly after the last purchase I swore I would never buy another MSI, but I kind of crave pain that way, after about a year of mods on this current board, and emails with the MSI BIOS crew I think the K8N SLI was the 2nd best Nforce 4 board made out there.  Plus it gives me another forum area to read here beside the Nvidia, and overclocking sections.

  • P6N Diamond reboots with E6850 CPU (Kernel-Power)

I hope I give enough information to possibly help with my issue. I recently changed my CPU from a Pentium D 3.4GH to the Core™2 Duo CPU E6850 Conroe 3.00GHz. I can't run for more than two hours before I get a sudden reboot. I checked the event viewer and there is a critical event: Kernel-Power. I'm not trying to overclock (although I'd love to learn how too). I've listed my specs below and thought I'd mention that I don't have a heatsink and fan on the CPU. I'm using the Corsair liquid cooler. I have fans blowing on the heatsinks to keep the heatpipe cool. Checking it with a Fluke IR Thermometer I get 45c on the 680i heatsink and 50c on the 590i heatsink. This temp is comparable to when I had the Intel heatsink and fan on the cpu. I use the Cooler master CM Sniper for my case and there seems to be adequate air flow. I just did a reinstall (cleaned the hard drive) using the Pentium D and have been adding and updating one driver at a time to see when the problem would start. As soon as I added the E6850 CPU the reboots started. I changed back and the reboots stopped. The Any help and/or ideas would be appreciated.

    Hello and welcome,
    What bios do you have?
If its 1.0 its possibly not fully supporting your cpu and you probably need to flash your bios.
If you need to flash, read here on how to safely:
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=113295.0
    And go here for biosfiles:

Take 1.3 it incorporates all previous fixes.

  • P6N Diamond, SLI question: where does the 2nd card go?

As per title, I have a P6N Diamond motherboard with 4 video card slots (four PCI-e x16), two yellow + two white. I have a single GPU/card in the first slot as usual, but I got a 2nd GPU/card today. Where does it go so I could get 16x16 SLI? Manual is unclear.
    2nd white slot (third PCI-e x16) or the yellow (second PCI-e x16) ?
I ask because this motherboard has non-standard color coding. Even the RAM slots are not color coded (channel-wise). Instead of A-B-A-B color arrangement on the RAM slots as every other motherboard out there, this motherboard has A-A-B-B arrangement.

Update: First of all, the case connectors on the motherboard are in the way for SLI purposes. They are too tall and block the insertion of the second card. On my old ASUS moterboard the case pins were on the bottom of the PCB, out of the way, but on this MSI motherboard they are on the side, lined up with the PCI-e x16 slot. Really dumb design! It might be fine for short video cards like 9600GT or similar, but for extended length dual slot video cards like GTX260 (which what I'm using) they are in the way, so much that the second card can't be inserted into the slot at all.
I spent two hours modding the connectors. I had to snap and break the plastic plugs, remove the metal pins and mod them so they are only 3mm tall, instead of 9mm. I know this motherboard is old so MSI couldn't plan for GTX260/280 and other long cards, but cards like 7950GX2 and similar did exist and predate this motherboard so there is no excuse for MSI for placing the connectors in that position.
Anyways, warning for any P6N Diamond owners: if you have extended length or longer dual slot video cards like GTX 260, GTX 280, and 4870x2 you will have problems with clearance and would need to do some severe modding or get a different motherboard.

  • 3 way SLI bridge connection works with only 2 GPU's

    NF980=G65 Mobo.
I've read at least one post here a while back about somebody having a problem with a jumpy or flashing screen when in SLI mode with 2 GPU's.  He stated that he tried using 2 ribbon connections & that fixed the problem.
Well, I'd like to report that I have 2 GTX 260 GPU's installed in SLI mode & they each have 2 ribbon connections.
This made me wonder if I can use the solid 3 way SLI bridge connection instead of only one ribbon.
Answer= Yes,, it works,, & it seems that I do have a faster transfer rate when I swap pages from one page to another.
Example. When I play my favorite online games I always use Ventrilo or Teamspeak2 VOIP applications to talk to my friends & team mates during game play. If I need to see who is on Ventrilo, I use the windows key to swap or change the screen back & forth from the game screen to the Ventrilo screen. I notice that the transfer rate or the time it takes to change screens is almost instant using the 3 way SLI bridge with my 2 duel ribbon connection GTX 260's. Try it if you have GPU's like this. You'll see.  Happy gaming

    Thanks for reporting your findings.

  • New PC build w/ P6N Diamond - won't read DVD's?

The P6N Diamond, hard drive, memory, and OS are new.  DVD drive and power supply worked fine in old system (yesterday!).  Clean install of XP MCE on new hard drive.  All MSI drivers installed off CD-ROM.  Ran online updates till all hardware and OS were happy.
I just realized the DVD drive I did all the installs from reads CD's fine but won't read data or video DVD's.  I checked Device Manager and the DVD drive is listed correctly but I noticed the IDE controller is listed as Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller.  It has Microsoft drivers loaded.  Shouldn't the driver be from Nvidia?  It's a stretch but I'm wondering if this could be a driver issue?  I can put the old system back together to verify the optical drive works but it would be a real pain...

I was hoping someone with the same board would look in Device Manager and see what drivers show as installed.  I can find drivers but I believe the P6N has a 680i North bridge with an older South bridge chipset and I'm not sure Nvidia made reference drivers for this combo.  I noticed MSI lists system drivers by North bridge/South bridge combination.
I'll swap drives between a couple of my pc's when I get off work and see if the problem follows the drive or stays with the pc, then I'll probably try reloading drivers.  It's either hardware, drivers, or OS and I really don't look forward hours of updates if I re-install XP.
edit: I got lucky, it was the drive.
