Slice Display Discrepancy?

Hello everyone,
Can someone explain why there is a discrepancy between slice outlines and the actual slices in Illustrator?
For example, in the screen shot below all items - including slices, paths, and artboard - are sized in pixels, and positioned in pixles. All size and position values are integers (no decimals). The document default units are pixels as well. The option "align to pixel grid" is off and having it on makes it worse (paths get distorted).
The screen shot shows the selected slice #5 (green bounding box) and the visual representation of that same slice is the larger teal box around it. They do not match. Why?
Is it possible to make that slice box match the actual slice? How? Or is that a bug?

PS: I am running Illustrator CC (but have noticed that "bug" in every Illustrator version that allows slicing) on Windows 7.

Disappointingly, despite the fact that multiple persons have confirmed the behavior mentioned there, and I (among others) have sent a bug report to Adobe, there has been *zero* feedback. A simple 'we're looking into it' would have been a good start.
As it stands, I have no clue whether it's actually worth my time to provide Adobe with a good, detailed bug report. For all I know, the server redirects these reports to /dev/null.

Display discrepancy between PS and Lr / ACR

On the discussion forum of the french magazine Chasseur d'Images, someone submitted a display discrepancy with Photoshop & Lightroom.
The example was a grey chart. If I open the file in both Lr and ACR 4.1, there is no differences between them - of course - but there is a quite strong pink cast. If I open it in Photoshop, the cast isn't there, even if select Prophoto RGB as working space.
Any clue ?

Firefox Display Discrepancy

Hello:
I have an existing site.

Last evening, I added two photographs to the collection. The thumbnail and web size photos were added to the appropriate directories and they were added to the photo list (em_photo.xml).
I then successfully tested the photo access, with Internet Explorer 8 and Mozilla Firefox 3.6.7.
I uploaded the photo files and the xml file to the web host.
When I access the web site via Internet Explorer 8, the thumbnail photos display and, when selected, the large view displays.
However, when Firefox is used to access the web site, the new thumbnail photos are NOT displayed.
The new photo, which is easiest to find, is on the "2010 Photographs" tab, then scroll to the bottom of the thumbnails. This photo is of the Monterey Harbor with the USS Mobile Bay in the background. This photo, also, appears on the "Monterey Harbor and Beach" tab and is second from the bottom of the thumbnails.
The photos correctly display with IE8 and the test with Firefox. Why would the photos not display with Firefox on the Internet?

I thank you for taking the time to check this and reply.
This is weird. I did the updates, last night and noticed the discrepancy. Afterward, I turned off the computer and the battery backup.
This morning, I started the computer and checked/rechecked the site. I refreshed pages. The discrepancy persisted.
After reading your e-mail, I opened the site, again, and the photos display correctly.
I figured it was an error on the part of this operator. Well, I'm not one to argue with success.

Color synchronization/display discrepancy?

An object that I've filled with #336699 in Illustrator displays on the screen as #275187, and similar things happen with other colors, and in other applications (since CS3 is synchronized). However, when I save an image for web in Photoshop, the color appears correctly. What causes this difference and how can I avoid it? Does it have something to do with the Embed Color Profile option when saving a PSD?

Display Discrepancy.

My MBA is about 10 months old and suddenly the left side of my display is darker than the rightside. The separation line is exactly in the middle. Does anyone have any idea what is causing this and how to fix it? Or is this a warranty issue?

Certain images not showing up in Design View

Hi,
I recently switched from Dreamweaver CS5.5 to CS6 with Creative Cloud but now some of my images aren't showing up in Design View. Everything is fine in Live View.

The MORE buttons aren't images. They are in the HTML and appear to be styled with CSS to look like button images.

Unfortunately, Design View is incapable of displaying CSS border-radius, gradients, shadows and other CSS level 3 properties.   That's why we have Live View which behaves more like a real browser.
If you can't live with this, disable CSS in DW by going to View > Style Rendering > untick display styles.
Or, use a Design-Time Style Sheet that contains no CSS level 3 properties.

Firefox chart drilldown gives page-in-page

Hi all,
Bizarre problem with drilldown from an SVG pie chart in Firefox:
I have a page (P256) which contains a report and an SVG pie chart, both of which display sales data summarized by team. The user can drill down to page 257 (showing details for the given team) by clicking either a link column in the report or a slice of the pie chart.
In MSIE this works fine. In Firefox, clicking the report link works fine (we go to page 257), but clicking a pie slice displays page 257 as a scrollable area within page 256's pie chart region.
As shown on the browser's status bar, the report and pie chart links generate identical URLs.
Hmmm. Any ideas?
I'm running 10g db and AS, APEX 2.0, MSIE 6.0, FF 1.5, and my app doesn't use iframes.

Bogus Color Points

It appears CS4 has a problem displaying established color points in the Information Palette correctly. For example, setting a highlight color correction target point (shift/click using the eyedropper) creates an RGB value which is significantly different from that displayed by the cursor readout display ("first color readout" in the Info. palette). In other words, you think you are establishing a point with say 245/238/227 but the resulting point (#1 of 4 allowable in the Info. Palette) reads perhaps 215/227/228. Aaaargh!
Unfortunately, there appears to be little consistency with the display discrepancy and worse yet the RGB discrepancies are not proportional. That leaves those of us who prefer to correct color by the numbers (at least in part!) without a reasonable foundation to work from. The situation is reminiscent of CS2 whereby the numbers would simply disappear from the palette altogether when making color corrections. Fortunately, Adobe released a patch that corrected the problem in CS2.
System is Win XP Pro w/3GB RAM, 3 GHz processor, etc. etc. more than sufficient to run CS4, which otherwise runs OK save for random minor slowdowns of cursor displays when using a mouse (plenty from others in "CS4 is a Disaster" on that one).

I realized after posting that the color profile stuff should have been included so here goes.
I'm correcting 16 bit PSD files in ProPhoto color space. The files originate in a Canon 5D and are processed in ACR using the Adobe "Standard" camera profile (sometimes use "4.4" or others but rarely). I pretty much stay in RGB but also use LAB or rarely CMYK for some tonal stuff (after initial color RGB shadow, highlight and neutral corrections). I also keep LAB as the "secondary display" in the info. palette, which also appears to display incorrectly: ie neutral RGB values should display as 0,0 LAB or close but often the display will be -2,0 LAB when the static RGB values are say 20/20/20 for example. I can only guess if the interactive readouts are accurate, though.
The static spots appear to display both the uncorrected/corrected numbers as do the dynamic interactive information. Also, the only correction performed after opening a file in CS4 is a "capture sharpening" via Photokit Sharpener (great product, BTW!). The file is then flattened for color correction and/or other tweaks as needed.
I should also add that overall I am currently performing some relatively extreme corrections on shots taken at an indoor bluegrass music festival under "creative" lighting conditions without flash. ACR gets us most of the way there using a white balance correction so the corrections in CS4 are theoretically relatively modest. Unfortunately, correcting "by the numbers" is proving to be problematic.

Problems upgrading from cfgraph to cfchart

What happened to the URL attribute in the cfchartdata tag?
The idea of passing an ID is not longer useful... only the item
label, which seems to open the door for instability in an
application. The formatting enhancements are great, but the limited
URL functionality REALLY sucks!!!!!!
I am currently passing the itemlabel to a javascript function
and parsing out the pieces needed to obtain the record's ID, but
this doesn't always work due to tick marks or other problematic
characters.
Does anyone have any ideas for work arounds?

I probably should have clarified a bit more... the pieces
parsed from the itemlabel are used to query for the record ID
(which cannot be present in the presentation slices due to client
preferences). To me it seems inefficient, and reckless, to use the
presentation labels to query through hundreds of thousands of
records. The below is a SIMPLE example of the situation:
Slice display: label, value
Slice 1: Compact Cars, 20%
Slice 2: Mid-sized Cars, 65%
Slice 3: Luxury Cars, 15%
The user can then drill into each slice (Compact, Mid-sized,
etc.) to see which models make up the class. A second chart is then
generated with the model data (Altima, Maxima, etc.); the user can
select one of the model slices to view a page that displays the
data in table format which includes the available packages for the
model (ie. S, SE, SE3.5, etc.) In both instances, it would be nice
to have a record ID to use in the URL. This capability was
available in CF5 for the cfgraphdata tag. The reason I hesitate
using the item label and unit count to drill into the subsequent
steps is due to inheriting less-than-perfect data for the project.
For reference, there is a statement in the CF7 construction
kit book about this “unpleasantness” (page 454).
Nonetheless, any additional input, ideas, or work-arounds
used to alleviate this issue would be much appreciated. Thanks!

How do I make Photoshop display slice symbols?

I am using Photoshop CS5, Version12.1 x 64. OS is Windows 7 Home Edition with Service Pack 1. Computer has 8.00 GB of RAM, Processor is Intel (R) Core (TM) i5-3350p, CPU @ 3.10 GHz.. My video card is NVIDIA Corporation, GeForce 210/PCIe/SSE2.
I have had the software for over a year, but this is the first time I have tried learning how to make web pages so it is the first time I have encountered this problem. I have been working my way through the Adobe book "Classroom In A Book". Lesson 13 deals with Preparing Files for the Web. I find that I can create slices, but the blue tags that are supposed to display don't show up. I don't know if there is a setting I need to fix or if there is a bug in the software.
I have run the update choice from the help menu and the messages says all my application are all up to date.

Hmm.
If you're making a menu, where you have individual images for each item you're rolling over, you would probably make slices. If you have a single large image with individual spots that you want to be active, you would use a hotspot.
A hotspot makes an image map, a series of coordinates that bound a region within an image that will be active. For a slice, the whole image is active.

Slice saved for web buttons not working on web display

Hello,
I am essentially a novice photoshop user, going through the Classroom in a Book for CS6 (which has been surprisingly disappointing). I have come to the chapter where you are directed to make slices and turn them into navigation buttons with html. Then, you save for the web and optimize, save as HTML and images, and when I open the page up (both in chrome and firefox), none of the buttons work, the links all say "image does not exist." I think I'm missing a crucial step somewhere linking the pictures to the html (or something) I gave them, but I can't figure out what it is, and of course in the bare-bones text provided by Adobe itself, there is no mention of it or troubleshooting for if it doesn't work.
will give it another go and try with my own images (instead of ones downloaded from the accompanying cd), see if that makes a difference. But appreciate any help! thanks

Discrepancy in Sales area data display of an Account in WEBUI and SAPGUI .

There is a custom program which deletes sales area data for an account .
This program basically deletes values from table crmm_but_lnk0010, crmm_but_lnk0011 , crmm_but_lnk0020 , crmm_but_lnk0021 , crmm_but_lnk0030 , crmm_but_lnk0031, crmm_but_lnk0140 , crmm_but_lnk0141 and crmm_but_frg0100 for the given account .
After running the program the maintained sales area value for the given account gets deleted from SAPGUI .
But strangely , the value still exists in some buffer and is getting displayed on WEBUI in sales area assignment block of an account .
I need this value to be deleted also from WEBUI . Can someone tell where the flaw can be and which method in webui framework needs to be coded for to remove the issue OR custom report program needs to be enhanced to delete value from some other tables . Thanks in advance !

Actually the program was written by someone many days back . The program was written to directly update db tables as mentioned before .
Is that the reason for the inconsistency between GUI and Webui ? The buffered BOL layer is having values where as values are deleted from db tables so not appearing on GUI ?
If this is the case then report program needs to be updated with BOL programming statements deleeting sales area values from buffered entities and then saving and commiting bol . thanks in advance !

Why does firefox not display photos with Hot spot slices in them

I took a photo and brought it into Fireworks and created a graphic map with hot spots to certain countries. While this looks great on Internet Explorer its not showing properly in firefox at all. http://www.aist.org/chapters/chaptermap.htm

That website is an MS Office document that has VML content for the images.<br />
You can see that as green comment code in the page source (View > Page Source)<br />
Only IE can display such a document properly.
You need to save that page as W3C compliant HTML code and make sure that you disable VML to make it work in all browsers.
Looks that something is wrong with the image count for images used when VML is not enabled.

IPod nano, Nike+ discrepancy between verbal miles and display miles.

I've only used my Nike+ 3 times with my 3G nano. I've attempted to calibrate it, but still the displayed miles are significantly more than what the woman tells me when I push the center button and at the end of the workout. Why should they be different?
Any clues on how to fix?
Currently running 1.0.2 software on the nano. iTunes wants me to update to 1.1, but disconnects my wireless connection every time I try to update. That's probably an issue for another forum.

There was a bug in an earlier version of the Nano software that caused the distance to be displayed in kilometers even though miles had been selected. The voice continued to give the distance correctly. You can test this out by dividing the distance displayed by 1.6. If it then agrees with what you're hearing, that's the problem.
Have you tried upgrading with a wired connection?
