Sliceing a photo and then rotating it.Maybe with feather.

I have an image 2.5 in wide and 3.5 in high (300 dpi).
I want to convert this image into a playing card as in a face card.
The image is a drawing of a king head to toe.
I want to slice the photo in a diagonal. A diagonal that passes through the exact center of the image.
I want to throw away the bottom part of the image. I want to copy and rotate 180 degrees the top half to replace the bottom halk i just discared.
In the end i want the image to be like the king of hearts in a deck of cards.
Also the line the cuts the original image may be straight accross or at a diagonal. It may also be a symetrical curve that fits into itself after the copy and rotate.
I cant seem to get past the cut part.
I have tried polygon lassoo but cant garentee that it passes the exact center.
I would like to draw a freehand irregular cut and end it on the exact center, then flip the line so that the rest of the line mirors the first halh in such a way as to fit exactly after the cut and rotate.
I hope i am clear on my question.

Images are not in inches. Images are in pixels. The dpi only matters when you print, as that will determine the scale for printing. The data is determined by the pixel dimensions and color information. Your image is 750x1050 pixels.
Anyway...try this...
Increase the canvas size so you have room to work.
Draw a white rectangle 1.5 times the size as your image.
You'll need to rotate the white rectangle so that the edge lines up with the diagonal of your image.
Er...this is trigonometry. The tangent is the "opposite" over the "adjacent" (sides, that is). Taking the arctangent of (1050/750), we get 54.46 degrees. Depending on which way you want to slice your image, rotate the rectangle by that or by 90-54.46=35.54.
Move the white rectangle to cover the half of the image you want to keep.
Select the white rectangle and the image. Use Modify > Mask > Group as Mask.
Select the masked, triangular object, copy and paste it. Take the copy and flip it both horizontally and vertically.

In Editor, go to the expert tab.
Open picture B, the one you wish to select the "replacement" face from to add to another picture.
Use one of the selection tools, e.g. selection brush, lasso tool, to select the face. You will see an outline ("marching ants") once the selection is complete
Go to Edit menu>copy to copy the selection to the clipboard
Open picture A, then go to Edit>paste
Use the move tool to position the face from picture B to cover the face on A
In the layers palette you should see picture A as the background layer, and face B on a separate layer

Trouble syncing Apple TV. It will copy a few photos and then stop.

I have a 1st generation Apple TV, a MBR900 Cradlepoint wireless router, and an iMac. I lost the photos on the Apple TV and am now trying to get them back onto the Apple TV. When I go to sync using iTunes, it will copy a few of the photos and then stop. There is plenty of room on the Apple TV.
I have tried restarting the router, restarting iTunes, and unplugging and replugging in Apple TV. It will then download a few, maybe 10 at most, and then freeze. I am running Apple TV 3.0.1and iTunes 11.0.1 with Snow Leopard on the iMac.
Is one of the components not doing its job and which one?

I have now rreplaced the Cradlepoint router with the Apple Airport Express. The Cradlepoint router was obviously not working right. I was able to set up the Airport Express in the quickest and easiest of effort. It then proceeded to sync with the Apple TV with iPhoto the more than 13,000 photos without a break in 3 plus hours.
Should have gotten the Airport Express to begin with.

Actually, you can email up to 5 at a time from the Photos app. Select any more and the email share option will not appear.
If you explain why you need to email large numbers of photos, we might be able to offer an alternative.

Open your iDVD project and go into the Map mode. Made sure the autostart bin on the left is empty.

If you find a video in that bin remove it, save the project as a disk image and check the disk image with DVD Player. Then you can burn the disk image to disk with Disk Utilitiy at 4x for optimal burning.

I found the solution on another post by user rbii:
You can add this using Automator:
- Run automator, select File->New, chose Print Plugin
- From the PDFs part of the library drag "Render PDF Pages as Images" to the workflow on the right, set resolution to 200.
- From the Photos part of the library drag "Import Files into iPhoto" to the workflow section.
- Save the workflow
That should get you back this feature."
Save the workflow as "Save PDF to iPhoto" and you'll get that option back on the list. Hope this helps!

If the files have been overwritten and you don't have a backup, they're gone.
If they have not been overwritten, then there are third-party apps (for example Techtool Pro 7 ) with data recovery functions that might be able to retrieve some or all of your files.
Backing up is good.

Presuming you get the chime, most of your Mac hardware is working and has passed the first part of the power-on self-test.
If the screen comes on, basic graphics is working.
The dark gray Apple is not present inside the Mac -- it must be loaded from a boot device. If the dark gray Apple appears, at least one of your boot devices has some capabilities. The flower petal/gear moves while Darwin is initializing and loading. If it stops immediately, something is terribly wrong.
When the screen turns blue, Mac OS X has loaded and your graphics card transitions to Interrupt-driven operation. LoginWindow task draws the login screen, and Mac OS X is ready for login.
What could be the problem depends on where in the process it stops, and whether the power light is blinking.

Drawning text/images in a JPanel and then resizing/moving it with the mouse

Hello ebverybody!
I need to be able to draw some text objects in a JPanel and then resize/move it with the mouse... How could I do that!? Same for some images loaded from jpg files...
Should I just paint the text and then repaint when the mouse selects it? How to do this selection?! Or should use something like a jLabel and then change it`s font metrics?!
I need to keep track of the upper left corner of the text/image, as well as the width/height of it. This will be recorded in a file.
The text/images need to smoothly move around the panel as the mouse drags when selectin an entity.. not just "click the entity, then click another point and the entity appears there as if by magic...":)
Please, tell the best way to do that!

I know what you mean! This happened to me as well!
And one thing that I found useful is, if you want to directly select a layer without selecting from the layers pallete and without having autoselect enabled, just hold Ctrl and click on in directly in the image. This saved me a lot of time!

If you install Lion then erase the drive that will erase Lion. To purchase and download Lion you must first install Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later to access the App Store where you purchase and download the Lion installer. You might read this before:

1. After downloading Lion you must first save the Install Mac OS X Lion application. After Lion downloads DO NOT click on the Install button. Go to your Applications folder and make a copy of the Lion installer. Move the copy into your Downloads folder. Now you can click on the Install button. You must do this because the installer deletes itself automatically when it finishes installing Lion.
2. Get a USB flash drive that is at least 8 GBs. Prep this flash drive as follows:
Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
3. Locate the saved Lion installer in your Downloads folder. CTRL- or RIGHT-click on the installer and select Show Package Contents from the contextual menu. Double-click on the Contents folder to open it. Double-click on the SharedSupport folder. In this folder you will see a disc image named InstallESD.dmg.
4. Plug in your freshly prepared USB flash drive. You are going to clone the InstallESD.dmg disc image to the flash drive as follows:
Open Disk Utility.
Select the USB flash drive from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Check the box labeled Erase destination.
Select the USB flash drive volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Drag the InstallESD.dmg disc image file into the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
When the clone is completed you have a fully bootable Lion installer that you can use without having to re-download Lion.

I also tried manually underlining a few things on the new iPad and when highlighting a paragraph, it would skip a few lines and the line would go through a few as well. Looks like a major iBooks glitch needs to be addressed here.
