Slices Issue

I believe my issue has something to do with page tiling or page setup of some sort. When I go to make a slice it is like I am hitting a boundary that won't allow the slice to be the size I want it to be. The artwork is inside the art box but there seams to be some sort boundary inside the art box that won't allow me to make my slices. How do I stop this and be able to slice what I want. I tired hide bounding box and page setup but its not working. HELP!

Set your document settings to 72dpi. Sounds like you are working at print resolution and exceed the pixel dimensions supported by the web tools.

  • Irregular slice issue

I am fairly new to web design and struggling a bit to put flash into the off-white background area.  My issue seems to be with "slicing".  Can you slice the white area and replace with flash or is PS unable to irregularly slice?

You could make a slice which includes the overhanging blob but first turn off the background layers so only the header remains on a transparent background. Next, save for web and devices as png-8 which will include the transparency.
Alternatively, you could construct the overhanging header using CSS instead of a graphic. A rough mock-up is shown here: http://jsfiddle.net/4MuUe/7/
Whichever route you go, be sure to browser-test the layout (which I haven't done with this mock-up). A quick web search shows there is a whole can of worms with cross-browser support for z-index and flash object embedding. Some of them can be fixed by adding "wmode" "opaque" to the parameters, but I'd need to do more research to give you a full answer.

  • T3+ volume slice issue

I have two new T3+ arrays setup as separate systems
Both have the same issue. Both have the latest advised release of the T3+ firmware.
I set them to be a Raid 1+0 mirror (4 drives mirrored
to 4 drives) with striping across all "4" drives. The nineth drive is a hot spare.
I then setup the new Volume Slicing and divided the large 250GB or so virtual disk into muliple 36 GB virtual subdrives. The last "subdrive" in the T3 falls short and ends up being around 24GB. I fdisked all the drives and broke them into standard slices for what I need.
I rebooted my solaris 9 ue420 and it sees all the "drives". I can format all the 36GB drives. When I format the 24GB drive, I get back an error message about mismatching disk geometry and the format aborts. The format on any subdrive never takes more than a second
because the T3 basically overrides the function, but usually I can do a worst case verify on the subdrives
Obviously what the T3 controller is reporting back to
the OS does not match what the drives geometry
really is and things dont match right.
I am trying to avoid the software overhead on my UE420 of Veritas or Online Disksuite volume managers for these arrays and want to have the
sparc processor in the T3 handle all the mirroring and volume slicing of the 72GB drives in these arrays.
Anyone seen this type of issue before with a volume slices T3 array?
(this has also been cross posted on the Talk to the sysop forum. apologies in advance for the redundancy)

Bought my T3 about a year ago, and now i have this horrible volume fluctuation problem going on.. So I really wouldnt recommend buying it, even though the sound from the speakers is pretty good.
My last pair of creative speakers had the volume knob problem, this set of speakers has the knob problem. Last time i will ever buy creative speakers because you can forget about support fixing it...

  • Export Problem ? Slices issue? Rollovers stopped working

Hi, I'm new to prototyping in FW and running into a bit of a problem. My prototype was designed and working well in FW, I then went into make all the final "clean up" changes so it exported well. Organized loose ends and sliced up everything, it seems as soon as I finished all that none of my icons were working correctly. I had simple rollover on some and image swap on others. Now everything previews completely static and I don't know what the deal is? I've messed with it enough and now SOME pages are behaving correctly and some are not, but the menu is shared from the same index page anyway so it makes no sense to me? Also on the pages that are working "kind of" I've fixed how they behave probably 50 times, save and it seems like at some point it reverts back to what it was doing previously? SO frustrating. The weird thing is that some of these issues I'm having seem rather random so it's pretty hard for me to figure out what the problem is. Does my lack of function have anything to do with my slices/hotspots everywhere? My design is kind of round so they do over lap in spots? I would appreciate any help - I want to throw the thing out the window!!
    Oona

ok, so I've fixed a bunch of the things I'd fixed before, but it seems to be good for now. I saved a normal copy and a backup copy so hopefully when I close the program at least one of them will be intact! lol It looks like the issue with the rollover was slices ontop of slices. I changed my images on the nav bar to hotspots and then my buttons (which are sliced, obviously) on top seemed to be functioning correctly now. So I guess I got it figured out ~

  • Excel Services Timeline Slicer Issue

    Hello,
I am experiencing  a very weird error. I have an Excel 2013 workbook which connects to a tabular model on SQL Server 2012 SP1.
There are 3 slicers, (one being a timeline slicer) connected to 2 pivots in this workbook. I host the workbook on Sharepoint 2013 using a web part. Everything was working fine until I upgraded the tabular model server SQL Server 2012 to SP1. I
updated the compatibilty of the model to SP1 and redeployed my model to the server.
When I open the workbook on my laptop all slicers work fine. When I open the workbook through excel services and I use the slicers which are NOT the timeline slicer I get the below error:
"An error occurred while attempting to perform this operation. Reload th eworkbook and then try to perform this operation again".
Whats weird is the Date timeline slicer still works but the other slicers throw the above error when used.
If I remove the timeline slicers connections to the pivot tables all slicers work fine in excel services. Except I cant use the timeline slicer because its not connected.
I have rebuilt the entire workbook using a new connection and I still get the same results. I have rebuilt the DateDim in the tabular model in hopes this would help....nope. I have created a regular slicer pointed to the date dim and that will work...its
only when I connect the Timeline slicer do I get an error.
    Any guidance would be awesome.
    Thanks!

I figured it out. Try, Opening the linked pivots "Pivot table options" and navigating to the "Totals and Filters" tab. Make sure the box "Allow multiple filters per field" is ticked. This should fix it.
For some reason if you have the timeline slicer your pivots need to have this checked or else Excel Services will give you the above error.
    Hope it helps!

  • How do I get remove unwanted RAID slices?

I have two 300GB firewire drives. I have them configured as a mirrored RAID set. One drive failed and the RAID volume went into a degraded status. I replaced the drive, peformed a rebuild, and the drive is part of the the mirrored RAID set again and working properly - I can see both drives working in sync when I do reads/writes.
However, the disk utility shows the mirrored RAID still in a degraded status. I noticed that I have an extra slice now (Number of Slices: 3) and my assumption is that the RAID logic thinks I'm supposed to have another disk in this configuration. How do I fix this? Is there a safe way for me to remove this extra slice so it does how a degraded status any more?
Help with this is greatly appreciated.

  • 2 state button from layers!?!

    Hi guys,
I'm quite an amateur in fireworks so excuse me if my
    questions seems silly.
So my problem is that I'm building a website and I have 2
states for my menu buttons imported from .psd file - normal and
when button is pressed. These two conditions of the buttons are in
    different layers.
I've tried to make slices of each button but when I slice the
entire menu these sub-slices become fictitious and FW doesn't
export the buttons as separate images from the menu. And still I
have image as I've only sliced the menu only :(
    I appreciate any help

Right - I never do it that way, though.
I always select and then right click on the slice. Call me
    quirky, but it
    works. 8)

  • GT725 - BIOS mod request

Hi Guys ! here's the deal , i just upgraded to a Q9200 and would like to use turbo to OC it , is it possible through a bios mod ?
Or , mod the current GT725 bios so that i can use setfsb , XTU (if possible) and so on.
+ Options to change multipliers , memory frequency , voltage and so on same as a desktop counterparts (if possible).
Only mod the GT725 bios though as there's some SLIC issues using the barebone or other 1722 ID2.
PS: donation is on the menu for a full working version. Thanks

    There is a solution:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/hardware-components-aftermarket-upgrades/489140-how-unlock-core-2-extreme-multiplier-windows.html
That is the only program which can change the multi in windows without any BIOS support.
As long as you have an extreme CPU (like the Q9200) you can increase the multi.
This program also lets you change the voltage.
If you need to change your ram frequency and timings use thaiphoon burner.
    have fun..

  • Slicer Time Dimension Issue with Cube Functions

    Hi,
Hoping someone can help me figure out right approach here.
    Summary:
Using Excel 2013 connected to a SSAS cube as data source, and cube functions with slicers to create a dashboard.
Have following time dimension slicers; Fiscal Year, Fiscal Quarter, Fiscal Month, Fiscal Week & Date, that are used to slice data based on user selection, along
    with a sales measure.
Below is example of Slicer name and CubeMember function for each:
    Slicer_Fiscal_Year:
    =CUBEMEMBER("Cube","[Date].[Fiscal Year].&[2015]")
    Slicer_Fiscal_Quarter:
    =CUBEMEMBER("Cube","[Date].[Fiscal Quarter].[All]")
    Slicer_Fiscal_Month:
    =CUBEMEMBER("Cube","[Date].[Fiscal Month].&[201408]")
    Slicer_Fiscal_Week:
    =CUBEMEMBER("Cube","[Date].[Fiscal Week].&[201509]")
    Slicer_Date:
    =CUBEMEMBER("Cube","[Date].[Date].[All]")
    Problem:
What I am trying to do is to build a table with cube functions that takes the lowest grain of the slicer time dimension selected, shows the current member, plus
the prior 7 so I can have an 8 period trending view table that I will build a chart from. In the above example that would mean that it would look at Slicer_Fiscal_Week since that is lowest grain that has an attribute other than All, and then show me the prior
7 periods. In this case 201509 means Week 9, so I would want to show in table Week 9 back to Week 2. But if Slicer_Fiscal_Week was set to All, along with Slicer_Date, then Fiscal Month would be lowest grain, so I would want to show Fiscal Months from August
(201408) back to January 2014. I know how to use CubeRankedMember to pull the value from what is selected in the slicer, the problem is figuring out how to pass the lowest grain time dimension so that I can use lag or some other MDX function to get the previous
    periods.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

  • Issue exporting slices from different pages

I'm an experienced Fireworks user, and love the new pages
function, but have found what I consider to be a bug.
I have about 70 graphics that I need to have trimmed in one
direction but not the other. Since I can't do this with layers
(Adobe should REALLY consider adding this as a feature for
exporting by layers, imo - currently exporting by layer only allows
trimming in both directions or no trim) I'm using pages - each page
has a single layer with multiple objects, and a single slice. This
is great, except for one giant bug: when I try to export "images
only" + "selected slices only" and deselect "this page only", it
uses the page name for the exported graphic, not the slice name. If
I export all the pages, the slice names are used. This is a big
issue for us, since exporting by layers or exporting slices using
pages is a HUGE help in repetitive image production (but only when
    it works right).

  • Issue with Data Slices

    Dear Team,
    We are on BW-BPS 3.5.
We have configured Data Slices on Planning Cube adopting the How to Document.  We have used 4 BPS Variables with "Restriction of Values Required by User and Input Allowed by User."
The issue is when we are activating Data Slices for one selection (Fiscal Year, Version, Controlling Area and Company Code) and saving it and again activating for another selection values the Data Slice is getting deactivated for the previous selection.
The requirement is to activate Data Slices for different selections (ex:Company Codes) as and when the planning is completed for them.
    Appreciated your quick response.
    Thanks and Best Regards
    Srinivas

    Dear Dirk,
That looks unviable. If we have 100 Company Codes do you advise us to have 100 Variables and 100 Data Slices?
The issue looks to be with the Code. Whenever I am entering the new values the old values are getting cleared is there any way we can append rows to Data Slice table?
    Appreciated any further suggestions.
    Best Regards
    Srinivas

  • Place images, reassemble slices, layer issues

I am creating a sprite of images I have in the bridge. I placed button images from the bridge.  I tried to merge the layers so there is only one layer for the sprite.  When I did the merge the images got locked onto the background layer and I can't move the images around on the layer to reassemble the buttons.  I created a layer called background that was black so I could see the greyed out buttons better while reassembling them from slices.  I will turn off the background layer after I got the pieces put together.
Because the images were locked down I started over and noticed while sizing the canvas that the canvas has a background color and also the layers have background contents.  I just need a dark background I can turn off after I get all the pieces put together so I can see the really light buttons.  I don't know if I need a background or not.
Also as I placed images I noticed when I clicked the image in the bridge fireworks turns on.  This got annoying.  I thought I was double clicking the images in the bridge and that was opening fireworks so I barely touched the images and it still opens fireworks.  How can I turn off fireworks so it doesn't open at all.  I don't need it.
I am assuming if I merge the images onto the first layer the images can be moved around with the move tool.  I unlocked the first one I tried that was merged to the background layer and it created a layer named layer0 and I still could not move the images with the hand tool.
I also noticed that as I was placing images some of them went all on the same document but some of them started a new document.  I intended for them to all be on one document and I don't know why it started a second one and added some of the images to the second file?
    thanks,

Ok, if you want to move each image individually from the others then do not merge the layers it is possible to move them, but it is much more difficult. Let the merge layers be the last thing you do.
In fact, save a psd file with the layers intact and save another file that was merged. This way you can always go back and rearrange, edit, etc. without having to start over if that is what you were doing.
Usually merging will merge all the layers and put them all into a single unlocked layer (once they are in a single layer they behave as one) Flattening the layers though will put all the layers into a single locked background layer.
If the layer is locked, you can either double click on the background layer and click OK to unlock it, or just drag the lock icon from that layer to the trash can.
If the background (portion of the image that is not your objects) is transparent you can create a new layer and move that layer below your merged layer (or all of the unmerged layers) and fill it with a color for the background.
Keep in mind that flattening will fill transparent part of the image to a white background, whereas merging will keep the transparency because the layer is not locked as a background.
Pay attention to what file format you save your file as, as not all formats support transparency. Stick with psd, png, tiff for example. saving as a jpg will result in a file that is the same as flattening the layers as it does not support transparency or layers. Tiff and psd are the only two I know that support layers.
If all the images have been merged or flattened and you have no way of going back, then you are going to have to use the selection tools to select each object and copy/paste to a new layer (on a windows system ctrl-j will do the work of copy/paste in a single step)
As for Fireworks starting from Bridge, I am thinking your double click in your mouse settings are too sensitive. But for stoping Fireworks altogether, you can go into the preferences, look for file type associations and then look for that file format. Click on that format and change what program is to open that file.

  • HP Zbook 15, external monitor connected to docking station issue

    Dear all
I have bought a HP Zbook 15 laptop and installed Ubuntu 12.04. It does not show anything on the external monitor when I mount the laptop on the docking station.
After installing the Ubuntu 12.04 and putting it on the docking station for the first time, I got this problem:
"If an ACPI driver is available for this device, you should use it instead of the native driver". I have attached the whole log file. Then, I installed the latest Nvidia driver, and restarted the machine. This time, I do not see that error message; however, I cannot see anything on my external monitor which is connected to the docking station. Can you please tell me how to fix this problem?

[ 6.960166] ACPI: If an ACPI driver is

@emeres: Sorry, yes, it's an HP 2013 UltraSlim Docking Station. I figured it was the only one compatible with the notebook model I provided.
Regarding any electrical circuitry or controls... well, sure, I'm assuming there's some circuitry in there
I'll give a whirl at using that two screen setup when I get a chance. I'm not inclined to think I need to hard-code it in a xorg conf file of some sort given that xrandr finds it just fine. I'm just perplexed by why it goes AWOL after one connect/disconnect. Now that you mention it, it could be the docking station internals, as I'm assuming most folks would be using this to plug in their computer, then completely remove it to go elsewhere, and then come back to their desk. Thus, they'd be physically disconnecting it vs. just toggling?
That said, I'm pretty sure I can use Windows Fn+F4 to toggle laptop vs. laptop + "projector" (what Win7 calls any external display) all day with no issues, so I'd think xrandr should be able to do the same?
Thanks for the input and links.

  • HP Envy 13 Battery issues

    Hi
I have an HPEnvy 13 notebook with the battery & slice battery it came with.  I noticed recently that with the battery plugged in and the AC adaptor connected it would say "plugged in, not charging" and it would never power on when using battery only.  I tried this with every combination of main battery, slice and main+slice.
The batteries slowly drained and are now unchargeable in this laptop.  I tested the batteries in my mother's HP envy 13 and both the batteries worked OK.  Neither of her batteries worked in my laptop but they DO in hers.
I've tried resetting the BIOS to defaults, tried hard resets - basically I've tried following all advice on the HP site that I can see to resolve this.  The battery checker says all the batteries need replacing but the battery checker on the other envy says they are OK.
I have just spent £45 buying a brand new battery for this laptop and fresh out of the box, never been used, the HP battery checker says it needs replacing.
I think this is wrong.  I think the laptop is at fault, all evidence suggests the batteries are good and it's only the laptop that's broken.  I've checked all connectors, none are bent and all look clean (no dirt/tarnish buildup).  I've also tried removing & reinstalling the ACPI drivers to no avail.  Windows 7 is fully patched and up to date.  The laptop does not generate any errors that I can see.
Please can someone assist?  It's at the stage now where the notebook is useless as a laptop so I'm considering other options.
    Many thanks

I see your  notebook is not charging the batteries, but the batteries do charge when you install them in your Mom's Envy 13 . You took her battery and installed it  in your Envy 13, but  it did not charge either. You tested the batteries with your Envy and it said to replace them, but when you test the same batteries in your Mom's Envy they tested fine.
Having tested the batteries in this way, rules out the batteries themselves and brings us to the notebook.

  • Wireless issue on Lenovo B570e2 with Atheros AR9285

    Hello,
I have just bought a Lenovo B570e2 with an Atheros AR9285 wireless card and have from now lost two days trying to make it work. Since it works perfectly with Windows 7, it doesn't seem to be an hardware issue. The card is recognized and the ath9k module is loaded, but I cannot see any wireless network, whilst Windows 7 detects more than 10 at the same location.
Here's some piece of information :

meop wrote:Have you tried with other tools? Networkmanager, Wicd? Are all the access points around you wireless N, or are some G? Sometimes Atheros chips have trouble communicating with other wireless N chips. I have experienced this on my router.
As far as iwlist doesn't detect any network, wpa_supplicant can't go further, and NM and Wicd are just wrapper tools for wpa_supplicant Wireless networks around are mixed b/g, no n capables.
I have also tried to connect to my network by using sscan_ssid=0, so that wpa_supplicant would try to connect to it but it didn't work.
meop wrote:This user posted a different issue recently, but at least he got the card working on Arch with Linux 3.6.2.. maybe you could message him?
Wow, quite strange, we indeed seem to have the same hardware and the same environnement, but not the same result, thanks for the tip!
meop wrote:The two solutions you tried were for a Ubuntu issue and a disconnect issue respectively, right? You could try loading a Live image of Ubuntu on your machine just to see if the card works on it, and then compare to Arch to see what settings or loaded module versions are different.
I forgot to add it to the "what I've tried" list, sorry. I have already tried to boot with a Live Cd of Ubuntu 12.10, 12.04 and even 9.10 (kernel 2.6.32)
Triby wrote:You have to put the interface up.  You have not described what steps you have taken to try to actually connect ... in fact it's not clear that u have taken any.  See the wireless wiki page and follow the manual connection steps.  Post the results/output of any failed step here.
EDIT: the interface "link" is up : <NO-CARRER,BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP> mtu 1500 qdisc mq state DOWN mode DEFAULT qlen 1000, only protocol is DOWN
I don't usually use front end like NM or Wicd, here's what I've done :
    ip link set wlan0 up
    wpa_passphrase <my ssid> <my password> > /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf
    wpa_supplicant -i wlan0 -c /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf
Then no result. As I wrote earlier, I've also added "sscan_ssid=0".
The problem is that "iwlist scan" does'nt get any result, meaning that my network card can't see wireless network around...
    Thanks for your responses.
    EDIT:
I may have found something interesting, while I try to play with iwconfig and iwlist, something happens frequently in my dmesg :

I don't know why but this seems to be related... I'm googling that for now...
