Slide bar to turn off power...

When I first set up my Ipad, there was a slide bar to turn off power. Since I have charged my Ipad the slide bar to turn off power is no longer there. Is this normal after you set up the Ipad?

Press and hold the button at the top of the iPad until the slide to power off is displayed.

  • How do I TURN OFF power management???

My computer still keeps going to sleep and the only way to wake it up is to hit the reset button.  I tried enabling the keyboard-wake-up to wake it up, but then it started rebooting itself spontaneously every 15 minutes -- without any warning from Windows.  It doesn't matter whether I select S1/POS or S3/STR mode -- it does the same thing every time.  I don't want S1 or S3 power management.  I want to TURN OFF POWER MANAGEMENT COMPLETELY!  I only want Windows to turn off the monitor.  The BIOS should do nothing!
    How do I accomplish this??????????

This is strange - my understanding is you would usually use the Power button to wake the suspended PC...
Could what you are experiencing be more of a shutdown or instability?
Is it due to BIOS setting or Windows? Here are some possibilities
    1. What is your selected Power Scheme? Are your options for Turn off hard disks, System standby & System hibernates set to Never?
    2. These BIOS settings work fine for me ...
    ACPI Standby State : Auto
    Power Management/APM : Enabled
    Suspend Time Out : Disabled
    Set Monitor Events
    FDC/LPT/COM Ports : Monitor
    Primary Master IDE : Monitor
    Primary Slave IDE : Ignore
    Secondary Master IDE : Ignore
    Secondary Slave IDE : Ignore
    Set WakeUp Events
    Resume on PME : Disabled
Resume on RTC Alarm : Disabled
    Keyboard PowerOn Function : Disabled
    Mouse PowerOn Function : Disabled
    3. Does your keyboard have any of those quick buttons for Power / Sleep / Wake ? Could any of them be stuck? (Mine has these in a most inconvenient place - between Delete/End/PgDn and arrow keys, so I sometimes accidentally pressed them)

  • Turning off power saver temporarily.

Is there a way to let the computer know I want to turn off power saver(dimming the screen then turning the display off) when watching DVDs? I seem to remember it was automatic with an older version of DVD player. Also is the solution applicable to VLC?

Yes, but I have to do this every time I want to watch something with either of those programs. I'm sure the old version automatically overcame this problem. At the moment I have to keep moving the mouse or touching the keyboard every few minutes.

If you tried resetting the ipod and it still keeps having the same issue you described, try setting the ipod to disk mode.
Here is an article from the apple support website on setting the ipod to disk mode.

If you can get the ipod into disk mode, connect it to the computer and rrestore the ipod using itunes.
if the ipod will not go into disk mode, you can return the ipod or set the ipod up for service via the apple ipod service depot.

  • C5550 printer gives error message "Turn off power, then on again" with all flashing lights

This printer all of the sudden in constanty jamming up and gives error message "Turn off power, then on again", makes a lot of noise, and does it again.  Can't get any printing done!  I'm about to throw it out the window.  Any suggestions?

    Hey,
I have been looking around trying to find the error that is associated with the blue blinking light above the memory card slots on the lower, right-hand side of the front of the printer. I have found that it is called the photo light; but, in regards to the flashing of it, I can't seem to find what that means.
I recommend removing all memory cards from the slots, unplugging the power and leaving the printer unplugged for a while. Hopefully when you plug it all back in, everything will be ok. If not, let me know. In the meantime I'll keep looking and when I hear back from you I'll hopefully have some more information for you.
Thanks for your detailed reply, have a great day, Look forward to hearing back from you.
    I worked for HP.

Boot into recovery mode, launch Disk Utility and wipe the HD. Quit DU and restore the OS. On first boot, migrate properly, using the steps in Pondini's Setup New Mac guide.

  • Possible to turn off power saving/screen diming?

Hi I'm new the Iphone but I find it annoying that it keeps going into standby unless I'm constantly touching it. I've found this listening to the radio (which then turns off!) but its the worst when trying to read an ebook, suddenly the screen dims then turns off.
I've tried the auto bright option but it doesn't do anything. I have the 3GS if it makes a difference.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks

Turn Auto Lock to never. (In Settings).
Then watch your battery life disappear if you're not plugged in to a power source.

  • How do you turn off power saving mode on a Officejet 6000

I have 5 Officejet 6000 printer contected by using the ethernet port. They print fine when not in power saving mode. When they go into power saving mode and a print job is sent to them, they do not print. You have to power off and on the printer for the job to print. I need to turn off the power saving mode on these printers. Computers sending print jobs are XP and Window 7.

I am not aware of a way to turn that feature off completely since it does not have a front panel.
However, I suspect largely that the issue is with DHCP IP (automatic) settings.  Printers in general, with some routers, have issues with DHCP and standby where they no longer communicate using DHCP information.
I recommend setting static IP addresses for any printer on a network as it prevents most network issues with printers from occuring.
Print a network configuration page by holding the network button for 3 seconds and then releasing it.  A printout should be printed with the printers IP address.
Once that is done, enter that IP address into the browser on a computer as if you were going to a site.  Once that is entered, go to that site and the printer status page should be loaded.
There should be a Network option at the top.  Select that option.
On this page, somewhere on the left, there should be an IPv4 option in a wired section.  Select this and it will give the option for automatic or manual IP setup.
Select Manual IP setup.  Enter The IP address and subnet mask from the printout.  You can enter the gateway and the DNS servers, but they aren't really used since this printer does not have any web functions.
Click apply and you should get a success message.
At this point, the printer should have a static IP address and the issue of it not responding after entering standby should no longer be present.
PrintDoc's post has similar steps for a wireless version of the same printer.  The only step that would really be different is choosing Wired instead of Wireless on the setup page.

  • Why all settings lost from turning off power to Airport Express?

QUERY: Am I required to keep the Airport Express unit powered continuously forever after now, or have to re-enter all the network names and passwords every time the power is turned off?
I just bought Airport Express station a few weeks back. It's downstairs next to the cable modem and my 7-year-old iMac purchased in 2004, which has no wireless capability. There is NO cable outlet OR telephone line upstairs near brand new iMac, which is WHY I BOUGHT THE AIRPORT EXPRESS; I didn't want to string a 100-foot ethernet cable upstairs.
Monday a very patient Apple tech guy talked me through getting it set up, which involved my racing up & down the stairs, re-setting the unit to clear my unsuccessful data inputs from the previous week, watching and waiting for the unit amber light to turn green, then in-putting the new data. With the tech guy's help, it worked fine.
Since the unit gets HOT while plugged in to the socket, I switched off the power strip. (My disabled brother and I live together, and we have to share a single connection to the internet. I'm away from home during the day, so this has worked fine when we used ethernet cables and a hub seven years ago.)
BUT now the very first time I've powered up the Airport Express since it was working FINE, it's NOT working. Amber light just blinks slowly forever.
I'm posting this from my SEVEN-YEAR-OLD iMac, 'cause the Airport Express evidently needs to be reset. Since following the instructions the FIRST time DID NOT WORK, I wanted to find out if powering down the Airport CAUSED the data to evaporate, before calling Apple again. Hey! I've been working with Macs, teaching computer graphics and working in interactive games for 3 decades! But clearly, there are GAPS in my understanding.
    Thanks for any comments.

  • Why does my Sony Sound bar CT60BT turn off after 15 minutes?

I turn the volume down during the evening and when I do, it automatically turns off after about 15 minutes.  Is there a way to change the settings so that it doesnt go into standby mode?

    Hi mdalton1284,
Your Sound Bar has an Auto Standby Function.
It will enter standby mode automatically when you do not operate the Sound Bar for about 15 minutes and the Sound Bar is not receiving an input signal but the sound bar is receiving signal from your PS4 going to the TV via HDMI connection.
You may try resetting the Sound Bar.
    Follow the steps below.
Use buttons on the remote control for the operation.
Press BASS +, VOL - , and TREBLE + in that order within 3 seconds.
Let us know if you're getting the same result after resetting the device.
    Thanks,

  • Turning off Power-On "Chime" during start-up

    Hello fellow Mac users,
I need advice on how to temporarily and/or permanently turn off the
Power-On/Restart "Chime" during start-up on iMac (with wireless MAC keyboard).
I tried holding down the 'mute' button during start-up until Apple symbol shows up and that did not work.
I also tried 'muting' volume before restart and that also did not work.
My external speakers are shut off but the Chime sound still comes from the iMac speakers.
    Thanks,
    Edwardson

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
    Some folks use Statrtup Sound.
If you completely silence your Mac you remove its form of communicating issues to you during startup. The chime alerts you that the Mac has passed the POST, Power On Self Test and has found usable RAM. When it fails to do so it may sound other tones during startup to alert you to what is wrong.

  • Turn off Power Cable Connect Sound in iPhone5

I would like to turn off the sound you get when you connect the power cable to the iPhone5.  Does anyone know how to do this?  Silencing all sound is not an option, as I still want to use the alarm clock function.

Flip the Ring/Silent switch. Alarms still work with this switched on.

  • Turning off Power sound

How do I turn off the sound when powering on/off ?  The folks at the Verizon store were of no help.  So far I love my Droid X but I do not like the sound when Powering on/off.  The only silent mode I can find silences everything.  I do want the ringer on.

It appears there are two solutions to silencing these tones.
    1) Before powering off, turn on Silent Mode.  That will kill the power off beep, and it will power back on with silent mode still set to on, and with no sounds at all.  Then just turn Silent Mode off.  Of leave it alone if like lots of silence including no phone call rings etc.!!
    2) In Settings, Sound, un-check the option for SD card notifications.  You will still get a beep on power off, but no music on power on - it is completely silent.
