Slide show crashes after 9.3 upgrade

After the upgrade when I try to run a slide show the program hangs and then crashes. Tried restart and rebuliding but no effect. What now?

Hey Guys,
After recent SMC+EFI update on Macbook Air (Mid 2013) OSX v10.9.3, my internal audio device disappeared,
I tried everything I could find in google with no luck. (NPRAM+SMC reset, reloading kents etc.)
THIS IS WHAT SOLVED THE PROBLEM FOR ME:
1. I opened /System/Library/Extensions folder, there I found besides the usual AppleHDA.kext, also an AppleHDA.kext.disabled one.
2. I switched between them (swapped their names, sometimes you'll have to do it from the "get info" menu to take effect)
-- if you don't have this AppleHDA.kext.disabled one, try searching for one lil older than yours in the internet
3. then I unloaded and reloaded the kent dir again-
sudo kextunload /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext
sudo kextload /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext
And voila!
Hope it helps someone, as I spent hours until getting this to work again

  • AppleTV slide show quits after a minute or so

I just updated AppleTV (3rd gen) to version 6.2 and now the Photos slide show quits after a minute or so. Worked fine on earlier versions.

By connecting to ethernet and wifi you're creating a network loop back on itself. I've experienced problems like this in the past ... nothing really to do with Apple TV. Try one or the other, WiFi or Ethernet ... assuming you have a wireless router that's hooked up to you high speed modem.

  • Mail keeps crashing after 2.0 Upgrade

After installing the 2.0 upgrade my mail worked for about 24 hours. Now when I open mail it looks like it is trying to load and then quits and returns me to the home screen. I tried deleting my email accounts and the Settings app quits out returning me to the Home screen. When I go back into Settings my email accounts are still there. Has anyone else had a problem with this?

I had the exactr same problem with Mail crashing after you upgrade to 2.0. You do not have to restore back to the factory settings assuming you have a backup on your hard drive.
    1) Restore your iPhone to the latest 2.0 firmware. Use either the local copy on your hard drive or press Option key (Mac) or Shift key (Windows).
    2) Let the iPhone to a clean install of the firmware.
    3) When you are prompted to restore your BACKUP (not firmware), disconnect your iPhone from the computer
    4) Go into Settings -> Mail and create any email account (Yahoo, GMail, etc.) and verify the connection.
    5) Open the mail application to ensure it is loading properly.
    6) Connect the iPhone back to your computer
    7) Select the backup that has the data you wish to restore.
Upon restore of the backup, your mail application will be working again.

  • Lightroom 5.7 slide show crashing

I just moved Lightroom 5.7 to an I mac retina.  Overtime I try to use the slide show module, it preps the slide show, then crashes once it begins the show.  It was working well on my old iMac 27 in.  Any suggestions?  Running latest Yosemite operating system and 32 gigs RAM.  Also noticed the slow processing speed in develop mode which I saw reported in other posts.

  • Problems w/ buring DVD of photo slide show & best Premiere Elements 8 upgrade recommendation please.

I created a video slide show in Adobe Photoshop & Premiere elements 8, kept getting messages:  "disk space low, exceeded recommended #of slides and/or recommended 30 minute duration".  So what, I want a 90 minutes slide slow?(!)  It allowed me to complete, but disk burn would never finalize (after stopping at 78% 8 hours later).  How do I get this project file to burn in Nero or something similar and is there better software out there?  I have a ton of videos to create after this photo slide show & I certainly can't wait all night for a video to burn after it is created.
PS:  I have had this problem w/ previous videos I created.  i.e. in the past, using same Premiere Elements version, I have combined multiple video clips into one DVD movie but it took all night to burn.  Any insight will be much appreciated.

    Welcome to the forum.
I agree with John T., in that the pixel x pixel size of the Still Images would be the first thing that I would look into.
Next, I interpret that error message to be related to the available HDD space. His links on furnishing more info will be important there. Pay special attention to furnishing the full specs. of your I/O sub-system, i.e. your HDD's, their size, speed, available defragmented free-space, controller type and how you have them allocated.
A 90 min. DVD should NOT be over the avilable space on a DVD-5 disc.
If you DO have adequate defragmented free-space on your HDD(s), you should be able to Burn to Folder, and then use Nero, Roxio or the great, free ImgBurn, to do the physical burn to DVD.
However, if you have limited defragmented free-space, that will likely fail, as the working files required are very large.
In very general terms, PrE needs between 40 - 60GB of defragmented free-space, just to run effectively and efficiently. When one does either a Burn to Folder, or Burn to Disc, that necessary space can go up.
Also remember that as one approaches about 70% of HDD capacity, performance decreases. As one nears 100%, performance can slow to a crawl, and at 100% catastrophic failure of the HDD is a strong possibility. One should not exceed about 70%, and NEVER go to 100%.
Good luck, and please let us know more, and especially about your I/O sub-system.

  • PS3 and Safari crashes after Snow Leopard upgrade

How is everyone enjoying the crashes after their Snow Leopard upgrade? I can't save a photo using PS3, or download a photo to flickr or facebook without a crash. PS3 crashes, Safari crashes and work flow is at a crawl? Spoke with tech yesterday and they told me that this would stop if I downloaded Snow Leopard again, which I did, but the problem wasn't resolved. To top it off, I lost permissions on the iMac and can't use the computer. Please tell me where all of the accolades came from? Were the reviews done by people who actually work on their computers or by people who play on them? Oh, and another thing, lost my wireless access to the router and had to start all over. Be careful here, this has not been fun!

Excuse me, I meant to write CS3 instead of PS3.

    Hi All
Upgraded to Snow Leopard today and then shortly after a successful upgrade, also upgraded Aperture to 2.1.4 via software update.
It now crashes almost immediately after launch giving the output below. It would seem that the "library not loaded" part would be the cause.

  • Slide show crash

I have several 15 minute slideshows, but none will run on my iMac (27") for more than 8 minutes without crashing. Sometimes the screen goes blank but the music keeps going. Other times I get the message that "iPhoto has quit unexpectedly." I've been through about 7 Apple Care sessions and so far nobody is able to fix this. Interestingly, I have the exact same slideshows, downloaded from the exact same source (an external hard drive I used previously with my Dell), and they run just fine on my 13" MacBook Pro. Among many other fixes I've tried segregating my photos in a separate library an broadcasting the slideshow pictures from my laptop to my iMac and then running the slide show. That didn't fix it (even though this slideshow rans just fine on the laptop). Is anybody else having similar problems? Has anyone else found a solution? I'm not really sure which OS I'm running, but my computer is less than a month old so I assume it is the latest version.

    I solved the problem!
My Hard disk had "only" 35 gb free... I cleaned my hd and the final space become 44Gb.
I exported my slideshow and all gone ok!
It would have been better if the operating system had warned me it was a problem of disk space, but this i not happened.....
    Thank You for your cooperation......

  • Slide Show Freezes after latest Apple Security Update

Since installing the latest security update to 10.4.6 from Apple, initiating Slide Show causes iPhoto to freeze on my 2 Powerbooks and iBook 500. The only way to get out of it is to Force Quit iPhoto. This happens with iPhoto 4.0.3 and with 2.0. Before the update, the slideshows worked fine. This happens on all slideshows and is not music specific (other music does the same thing).
    Any ideas?

If you think it has something to do with system software, create a new user account, log into it, and load some pictures into the new iPhoto Library there. See if you can reproduce the problem. If you can't, then the problem has nothing to do with the security update, but rather something in the original user space.

  • MAC OS 10.4 CRASHES AFTER HARD DRIVE UPGRADE

After installing MAC OS X 10.4.2 & upgrading to 10.4.11, the OS keeps crashing, Ive done a APPLE HARDWARE TEST everything fine, Ive used disk utility to check for problems everything fine, Ive contacted HITACHI not response (3 week have past by). Im runing out of ideas. HELP!

    Hi,
    You say
while OSX can easily be installed and booted from an external HD,
    Stefan
Well I thought it should be easy, but I must be missing something. I bought a 100GB HD for a laptop that didn't turn out to need it, so I thought it would be good to install 10.4.11 on it so I could use it to start up coomputers having HD problems. I put it into a USB "slim carrier", plugged it into my iBook, put the install disk into the superdrive and clicked install. When the iBook re-started and the installation steps showed up, the drive showed up, but the install program showed the drive as a non-installable location.
Is there another way to do this? Must it be in a firewire enclosure, or should USB work?
Many thanks for any hints here,
    ...Tom

  • Multiple crashes after seemingly ok upgrade to iOS 5.1.1 on iPhone 4

I recently updated my iPhone 4 to iOS 5.1.1. It worked practically perfectly for 4 days. It then said that the password for my home wi-fi was incorrect so I restarted it and the device crashed. A total restore and install of the most recent back-up was performed that evening (the only thing the phone would allow as it asked to be connected to iTunes), and eventually it worked again. The following afternoon, when attempting to retrieve an email, the phone deleted all the previously held emails for that account and downloaded them all again. The screen showing one email then appeared to have a grey colour and a thin red line over it. On restart, the apple with progress bar you see when downloading software/preparing for restore appear on top of the home screen. Again it told me to restore/install back-up via iTunes, just approx 11hrs after the other crash. 7 hours after this restore, the phone crashed again - this time when someone was attempting to call/text and I am currently in the midst of my third restore in less than 24 hours!
Anyone with any insight as to what's happening and/or would be very useful, or is this one for the Genius bar?
