Slide show creation

I'm trying to add audio to a slide show.  I've done it before on this computer with no problem, but now it's telling me I don't have the correct compression files installed on my computer.  Not sure what to do next.

What is the exact error message? Can you share a screenshot?
Does the error happen right after choosing slideshow option or does it happen when you try to save/output it?
Which version of PSE and OS you have?
Thanks

  • PSE 10 Slide Show Creation hangs programm

    Hello,
when trying to create a new slide show from PS Organizer the program hangs completely. I can still chose the options like duration and effects, but after accepting these the next window with the output format options won't show. The program doesn't react on any input and must be cancelled via the task manager. When clicking somewhere in the program window you can hear a windows sound like clicking outside a dialog box, but this box cannot be seen.
    Any suggestions are welcome.

Hi. Because the forum you originally posted in is for beginners trying to learn the basics of Photoshop, I moved your question to the Photoshop Elements forum for specialized attention to your situation.

  • Distorted images in slide show creation.

    Hello,
I created a slide show using high res image files and adding music files.
I noticed that while viewing the show in full screen and even after outputing the sllide show to a cd, all the images are distorted.
Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong?
    Thanks,
    scephotog

It happened to me the same but after a while not using it, it disapeared. So I don't recommand this method but I noticed I had everything closed after that when I was creating slide show.

I'm confused by what you mean when you write "scene setting or standard timeline setting".  In version 11, I use "Expert" as my standad timeline setting.  The other is "Quick" and I have never used it.
The time for each pic starts with a default setting that can be changed.  Then each slide can be streched or shrunk with mouse control.

  • Play slide show from Photo Browser

How can I play my slide show in Full Screen view from Photo Browser?
Upon double click of the created slide show , located at first position in my Photo Browser, the Slide Show Editor opens which permits only play in Full Screen in Preview which produces low resolution images.

Please identify which version of PS Elements you have - 3 or 4. My guess is that you have v4 but it may make a difference in this conversation.
Based on the fact that I think that you want to view your photos at the maximim resolution of your monitor, have you tried the Full Screen view of the Photo Browser?
A slide show creation (made by the slide show Editor) is not designed to be played from the Photo Browser.
If you Output in the slide show editor as a WMV file, that is played in Windows Movie Maker or other programs. However, the WMV values defaulted in PSE do not give you full monitor resolution in most cases - so if you stretch to full screen it will probably not look good.
If you output the slide show creation as a PDF file, then you should use the Adobe Reader to play back that PDF file. The Preview for the slide show is just a Preview, which has quality level choices if you are in v4, but I don't think it is intended as a way to display the finished slide show.

  • Slide Show Weirdness

I created and burned a slide show with backing narration and music. I successfully burned it to DVD after I saved it in the proper way. I went back into Organizer a few weeks later, opened in up and all that's left of it is the red background color on everything. The thumbnails, main picture, and even the zoom thumbnails off to the right. No music, narration, no nothing. What the heck happened?!

suggest that in the Organizer, you do a File > Catalog > Recover
as a first step. It does a general catalog cleanup; whether it will help this specific problem I do not know, but the Catalog does contain information about the contents of the slide show creation.

  • Saving a Slide Show

I CANNOT seem to save a slide show such that I can fine it again.
When I hit "save" in the Slide Show Editor, it gives me this message:
SAVING YOUR SLIDE SHOW PROJECT ENABLES YOU TO MAKE CHANGES TO THIS SLIDE SHOW LATER. YOUR SLIDE SHOW PROJECT WILL BE SAVED TO THE PHOTO BROWSER WITH TODAY'S DATE. YOU MAKE NEED TO CLEAR YOUR CURRENT SEARCH IN ORDER TO SEE IT.
So, I click "okay" and then exit out of the Slide Show Editor and go the Photo Browser. Then I get this message:
YOUR SLIDE SHOW HAS BEEN SAVED AND IS SELECTED AT THE TOP OF THE PHOTO BROWSER.
And then I can't find the slide show ANYWHERE in the Photo Brower.
Can anyone help me with this?????? (Please?)
BTW, this is with Photoshop Elements 4.0. I use a PC.

    >I DEFINITELY tried this. The Creations menu was empty. Does that tell you something?
Well it does not sound good.
    1- Do a File > Catalog > Recover
    that does a Catalog cleanup.
Does that make any difference in what you see displayed?
    2- Then try this -
go to the View menu > Media Types and only have Creations checked.
Be sure that you are viewing All Photos(in order to satisfy the Clear your Current Search instruction of the message) If you use Folder Location be sure that all Folders are being displayed.
What do see now in the thumbnail area?
Be sure to go back to View > Media Types and recheck Photos and others. The settings for Media Types are sticky - so if you do not go back and recheck the others, you will wonder why you can't see your photos next time you use PS Elements.

  • Why doesn't a saved slide show in PSE-6.0 show in Organizer?

    Two questions:
1-I've created a few slide shows in Photoshop Elements 6.0 (running Windows Vista-64) and until recently have been able to find and reopen/edit them in Organizer.  For some reason none are showing at top of Organizer, even though I can find the file in folder Adobe:/PhotoshopElements/Catalogs/CIB Catalog/Projects.  I've even reinstalled PSE6.0 and still won't show newly created slide show projects.  Any ideas of what I need to do to be able to create, save and then go back to work on a slide show?  My goal is to create a slide show to copy to a DVD for viewing on a TV and don't want to try and do this all in one session.
2-Why are the photos not linked to the correct folder when I try to open and edit it, even after I've just reinstalled PSE-6.0?  I don't want to go thru the Browse option to relink up the thumbnail to the original photo.
Thanks very much in advance and I looked up previous discussions about "slide shows" but didn't see this discussed, so sorry if this question has already been covered.

    For the slidehshow thumbnail --
I have always been able to find my slideshow thumbnail in the Thumbnail view as long as I had the Media Types to display set to include projects/creations. I would not expect to find the slideshow thumbnail using Folder Location and definitely not using Import Batch (because a slide show is not part of an import batch) . You did not post your current setting for Media Types, so I suggest that you investigate its setting.
However, your problem with the photos showing on the Z drive is probably more serious
One odd thing I've just noticed is that all files in PSE-6 show the
files being on the "Z" drive, but they are on the "C" drive in Windows
Explorer.  I am using a cloud based storage service (Trend Micro's
SaveSync) and it designates the "Z" drive as the cloud drive, so this is
    odd.
My second question is related to all my photos, not
just ones I've tried to organize into a Slide Show Project.  I've tried
different photos in many different folders and all of them show the same
message of "Searching for Missing File".  Since I just reloaded PSE-6
I'm very surprised by this error.
If by "reloaded" you mean reinstalled, then the relevant fact is that the reinstall does not modify the Elements Catalog (which is where those pointers to the photo file location on the Z drive reside). So a reinstall of the PSE software would not have an effect here.
Unfortunately, I can not predict or even guess how the Trend Micro SaveSync works and what it would do that would make the PSE Organizer think it should look on the Z drive to find your photo files.  The Search for Missing File is most probably caused by that Z drive reference.
    All I can suggest is
-- look in the Organizer Preferences for a preference about reconnecting files automatically and set that preference to NOT reconnect automatically so that you have better control of when and how the info about photo file locatin that is stored in the elements catalog is modified  .
-- then use the thumbnail view within the Organizer and right click on the thumbnail for one photo and then choose the Reconnect of a single photo
-- can you reconnect that single photo successfully and have it show the C drive as its location ?
-- if yes try a few more photos
-- if you can reconnect several photos, then I suggest that you read the following for a suggestion on how to reconnect many photo files

  • Missing images in slide shows?

does anyone know why some jpgs disappear after a few days in keynote files? I create slide shows and import images, save the files and everything seems fine. A few days later when I return to the document, some images are missing, with just a question mark and a gray rectangle remaining. Text below is still there. This can happen to four or five slides out of 30 in a document. It is very annoying and doesn't give me much confidence in the program.

I have been having this problem alot. I design slides on my laptop at home and transfer them via cd or jumpdrive to the computers on show site. More often than not, I spend the first day fixing many broken links to images and movies. Fortunately, I know this will happen so I bring all my assets with me. If I thought I could just bring the Keynote file (like I should be able to) I would be SOL. This especially scares me when I design the slides but someone else works with them on site. They probably won't know what to do when the assets go missing.
This last show, I also had a few corrrupt movies causing Keynote to crash. The original movies themselves are fine, it's whatever got saved to the archive. If I simply selected the thumbnail or master of the slide containing the movie in edit mode, Keynote would crash. I had to create a new Keynote file, copy into it all the good slides and redo the crashing ones. Very frustrating. Once I had all my Keynotes straightened out on the show computers, they ran fine.
Something just isn't very robust with the creation of the Keynote archives.

  • PSE4 How to burn slide show to DVD

I have created a slide show with over 200 photos and added music. After saving it (which took 45 min.) I want to save it to DVD. When I open the burn page it only has VCD option. How do I get it to burn to DVD. I have a Gateway Computer wit an NEC DVD burner. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    David

    David,
Below is an extract from a discussion I had with others on forums who had your current dilemma. Adobe's answer is generally to use Adobe Premiere Elements to burn the DVD; if you have it installed there is a additional option to burn to DVD on that menu. However, you may have other choices.
If you have a DVD burner, want to make a PSE 3 or 4 slide show that plays on a TV DVD player, and do not have Premiere Elements:
    - create a WMV file using DVD NTSC or DVD PAL (according to your country TV standards) as the OUTPUT parameters
    - then read the doc that came with the software that supports your DVD burner (might be Nero, Sonic, Roxio) looking for a function that will create a Video DVD (note that it must specifically be creating/authoring a VIDEO DVD intended for play on TV rather than just burning a data DVD). Once you find this function, use your WMV file from PSE 4 as the input and choose the software options that give you a video DVD.
Based on my experience and conversing with others on forums, this will give you a DVD that is significantly better quality than the Elements VCD (written to a CD) and but not quite as good as a program that does a slide show direct to DVD. Quality is a subjective judgement, so I am not saying this is the answer for everyone. However, my philosphy is generally to try the software I have first before purchasing additional software.
Notes: For Sonic, I used a MyDVD limited edition that came with my burner. For Nero, I communicated with someone who did it with Nero Vision Express. I don't have any specifics for Roxio.
Notes: Creation of the WMV will almost always take a long time - depending on the number of slides and the number and type of transitions, zooms, pans. Each photo must downsized in resolution, then each individual type of motion must be applied; these photos must then become frame per second video (a significantly different format translation). All this takes time and processor power.

  • Creating Slide Show Movie in imovie from Iphoto Album

i have several Queries , firstly ,for a slide show to music ( ie no avi files ) - do I set Mode to DV/NTSC or other. Secondly, I cant work out an easy way to 'AutoSync' an album of photos to a designated Music file(s)length. Thirdly, i do have a small video component i would like to include in my slide show ,but it is in the form of 'Video-TS' file - how too ??
    many thanx in Advance :-))

    Hello, scubahawkfish,
    Welcome to the discussions.
Here is a great discussion regarding slideshow creation using iPhoto vs iMovie:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=967804&tstart=0
If you are wanting to incorporate video, you must use iMovie. Here is an excellent explanation of synching audio to video using iMovie by Karl Petersen (always pay attention to whatever he recommends!): http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=607322&ft=y&#607322
Here is help for synching an iDVD slideshow with audio if you decide to skip using the video and just go with iPhoto: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iDVD/6.0/en/243.html
As for importing the 'video_TS file,' here it the how-to: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=4459181&#4459181

  • PRE 7 Fails to Open From PSE 7 Slide Show

I have a friend is is attempting to send a large slide show from the PSE 7 Slide Show Editor to PRE 7. The slide show has about 300 images.
After clicking on PRE 7 in the Otput command of the slide Show Editor, it first appears that PRE 7 is going to open as expected. Then the screen changes back to the Slide Show Editor.
Is this being caused by a resource or meory limitation? I believe they are running Win XP or Vista.
    Any idea what is happening?
    TIA

Possibly a resource issue as 300 slides is quite large. When you click output to PRE your creation gets sent as a single clip. Try making two slideshows of 150 or 4 x 75 and then mix them back together in the PRE timeline.

  • Formats for movie clip used in PSE 4 slide show

Still finding it difficult to find documentation of what formats are supported for using digital camera movie clips in PSE 4 slide show.
The movie file from my Canon camera is 640 x 480, 30 fps Motion JPEG and has a .AVI extension. I am able to use it "as is" in a PSE 4 slide show. However, sometimes I need to trim the movie clip in Windows Movie Maker 2 in order to keep only the best part.
My question is what parameters can I specify to save my movie clip in Movie Maker 2 so that I can use it as a movie clip in a Photoshop Elements 4 slide show that will be saved as a WMV file?

    Karin Sue,
    >Also, are the projects saved in a folder somewhere, or only as part of the Catalog?"
The definition of the "project", which is the "Creation" in Organizer terms is saved only in the Catalog.
    >If you publish your creation as a pdf or wmv they are saved in the folder you designate. Once published, I don't believe there is any way to edit. If you save the creation, you can go back and edit and republish if you like.
Yes, the WMV or PDF file is saved in the folder that you designate. You are correct that if you save the Creation, you can go back and re-edit. When you Save the Creation gets a thumbnail within the Organizer photo well and you can click on the thumbnail to go back in to the Creation process make modifications and save a new WMV or PDF file.
Note: that the Save window documents that the PDF choice does not support some options such as Pan and zoom, videos, and certain transitiions.

  • Photoshop Elements 7, slide show?

    Photoshop Elements 7, slide show?
I am attempting to create a slide show and upload it to my web site. I follow step by step creation the show. Choose a template and export to FTP. The recommended upload address ftp.mydomain.com ( I do enter my actual domain name ) does not work. The message I get is “resolve FTP server address. I then tried the ftp address I use to upload changes to my site from Microsoft Expression 4, ftp://www.mydomain.com. That also does not work. I have attempted several versions with no luck. What am I missing?

I have no problem uploading changes to my web site using ftp://www.mysite.com . I have been doing that for several years. It is only in PSE that I am having a problem. I have tried several versions of the FTP upload address beginning with the PSE recommended ftp.mysite.com and ending with the one I normally use.
    Thanks,

  • PSE 4 slide show player blacks out...

I reinstalled PSE 4 on a new XP computer. PSE 4 worked fine on the previous XP computer. When I click play on the Slide Show Editor the 'play screen' goes black. Individual slides on the slide display list at the bottom of the screen are highlited and progress as if the slide show is running. All other PSE features seem to be working. I assume there is a driver or setting issue easy fix but I would consider updating to a later PSE version if that is beneficial.
