Slide show reflections theme suddenly renders incorrectly

Recently I mentioned a strange appearance of a slide show I've made with the reflections theme. The mirror image at the bottom of the screen is suddenly appearing as solid instead of transparant. This only happens with a screen with one ore two pictures. With 4 pictures it shows up normally. I checked the photos and I tried using other photos, still not working. Exporting the slide show still shows this deficiency. Maybe a problem with the latest version of iPhoto 9.4.3?
Is there anyone who can reproduce this? Any solution?

As a first fix attempt Try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
     User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
or with Lion and Mt. Lion from the User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto/
Data/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE 1: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
NOTE 2:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

  • Changing layout of slides in ''Reflections" theme - is this possible?

Hi, I am using iPhoto 11, version 9.3.2 - making a slideshow using the 'reflections' theme.
It seems like there is some great logic, which groups similar photos together - mostly its exactly right, but sometimes i want to change it and i can't seem to find a way to force a certain layout for a group of photos - like going from 2 horizontal pics to display as 2 vertcial side-by-side pics. I find that if i click 'Text slide' (at the bottom) and then click back the layout changes, but i have no controll over what the change is and i can't work out if there is some sort of hidden logic ... can anybody help - i'm going crazy trying to figure it out? If there is no way to controll this i can stop trying

It's all hit or miss as far as we've been able to determine. You could try moving the photos around in the photo tray at the top. That may be a bit less hit or miss. Send a feature requrest to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html.

  • How can I move my 31K photos to a standalone drive in folders and then import them back to edit and then perhaps return them to iphoto and library to produce slide shows

I want to move my photos into folders, which reflect the contents of iphoto events , to a standalone hard drive. Subsequently I intend to return them a few at a time to edit in Elements. Once  they are edited I may return groups to iphoto to organize into slide shows. As things stand now, my iMac drive is rapidly filling  up. I do not use raw files so I want to move Jpegs and edit them.

I'm with Léonie. That's a very (and unnecessarily) complicated plan you have there. As Léonie says you can just set Elements as an external editor.
    To move a Library:
Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

  • Can you have more than one theme in a slide show?

I am creating a slide show for my parent's 50th wedding anniversary but do not want to use the same theme throughout the slideshow.  I have not been able to figure out how to change themes after a series of pictures.  Is there a way to do this?

Chop the project into several different slideshows with different themes, export them as quicktime movies, and reassemble them in imovie.

  • Slide show only plays Theme Music

Using iPhoto 9.5.1 and Mavericks 10.9.4
I made a new slide show and after selecting it and clicking on Music, I have clicked the check box for Play Music during Slideshow.
Theme music plays perfectly.  I can see my iTunes library and select music, but when I select my own music and hit Choose, it either (1) stays on themed music or (2) is silent.  In fact once it is silent, I have to change the Theme in order to get even the Themed music to play.
I would REALLY appreciate some help with this. It is very frustrating!
    Dave

Try choosing the "Custom Playlist' option and drag the audio track into it.  See if that will link that audio track to the slideshow.
Is this a slideshow from an album or from the slideshow mode?

  • Slide show with "reflections" under the images

Just tried iWeb to post image pages created in iPhoto. Things went quite well until I used the slide show feature in the finished page on the web. All images appear on a black background (even though I used a white background templare) and have a strip of "reflection" at the bottom. How can I remove this tacky and distracting feature? The Reflection slider and checkbox in the Graphic Inspector are grayed out and can't be used.

    Hi Will,
many thanks for your reply! But even your detailed explanation is way above my head. I'm so stupid, I couldn't even open the recommended url - any variation I tried (with my site name, album name or slide show inserted) landed me on a page of a company called theplanet.com and that was the end of it.
I'm using Macs and Apple software for their famous simplcity and user-friendliness, not to take lessons on html code. At least your response proves that others have found the reflection gimmick annoying as well. So maybe someone from Apple reads this and incorporates a "remove reflection" button in the next udate of iWeb.
    Thanksalot anyway

  • PSE13 slide show theme array

Any suggestions on how to do the following in PSE13 - slide show theme Array
         > How to modify the duration of each slide?
         > How to 'customize' the presentation of each slide (eg weather it is a single shot per slide or multiple shots per slide)?
         > How to adjust the shot size to display the entire picture (In PSE11 - slide show the shots were fine - nothing cut off or cropped, however when the same shot appears in PSE13 slide show the tops of the shots are being cut off)?

The Slide Show Editor was completely rewritten in PSE 13. Adobe was forced to do this because the legacy code that the SS Editor was using through PSE 12 was difficult to maintain.
Unfortunately the capabilities of the PSE 13, are very limited. What you see is what you get. I suspect that now that they have the foundation code in place we will see it enhanced in future releases.
In the meantime, I would keep PSE 11 around and use the Export command of PSE 13's Organizer to copy the images, import them into PSE 11 and make your slide show there.
Personally, I have found that the PSE 13 Classic theme works best for me. Otherwise I make my slide shows with other programs.

  • Adding a theme to the beginning of a slide show

I created a slideshow in IPHOTO and sent it to IDVD+6. I picked out the theme "kids showtime" and tried to add it to the beginning of the slide show. It has one drop zone. I put one photo in the zone. When I preview-the theme plays over and over. I want it to play once and then have the slide show start. Any help would be appreciated.

Any theme that has motion and music will repeat. No way to stop it after one cycle. And there's no way to automatically start the slideshow, unless you put it in the Autoplay well in Map... I don't think you want to do that.

  • IPhoto 11 crashes when slide show theme is selected

My iPhoto 11 on Lion freezes when slide show theme button is selected. Anyone else experience this?

Remember: we cannot see your machine. There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 8 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS.  So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Basic things like :
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For instance: 'iPhoto won't export' is best explained by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • Slides show suddenly reversed order

Slides show suddenly reversed order. I must have hit some key that reversed my order of slides from the first slide switching to the last and so forth. can someone tell me what's going on. thanks. idvd 5... will idvd 6 fix this?

    Hi Nicholas,
click the first image in the filmstrip on top
Command click each image after that until you get to the last image.
Now drag that first image to the end of the film strip and the other images will follow. Once you drop it in the end, your images should be in the right order....hopefully.
