Slide Shows in iLife, iPhoto, iWeb  '08 and Web Gallery

I have iLife '08 abd thus iWeb '08 and developed my website in 2006 using iWeb '06. I also belong to .Mac and therefore have access to that Web Gallery or .Mac Gallery (unsure which name it has). I like the newer slide shows/carousels that are newly available and would like to know whether I can make such slide shows and place such slide shows in my iWeb website.
I realize that another alternative is to make a slide show and put it in the Web Gallery and access it in my website via a URL pointing to the slidehow.
Is it true that ALL OF THE VARIATIONS OF SLIDE SHOWS are created in iPhoto '08? If so, then I guess if I make the slideshows there, I can decide where I want to place them (in my website or in Web Gallery).

I have found an answer thanks to jaxjason in this post:

Go to web gallery, find out the album ID that you need to delete.
iDisk -> Web -> Sites -> _gallery
Delete the album ID of the albums that arn't in iphoto.
Then resync the albums missing.

In outlook (for windows) go to tools-account settings-(select account)-more settings-go to "advanced" tab and select "leave a copy of messages on the server".  That should do it.
If you have outlook for mac do the following: tools-accounts-(choose account)-advanced-server tab-select "leave a copy of each message in the server"
    Hope this will help you

How do I get Flash animated slide shows to work on iPads, iPods, and iPhones?
I'm using a PC. Web Site Flash generated slide show works fine on PC's.
Does not work on Apple platforms.
What do I use to to enable animated slide shows to work on Apple platforms?

    Hello,
Flash Player is only supported on Apple OS X systems (10.6 - 10.10).  It is not, and has never been, supported on any i-Devices.  There are no plans to support these platforms.

I would re-post in the iDVD forum.  You are likely to get a faster answer there.  Good luck.

  • Why can I not check the 'shuffle images' box in a slide show settings in iPhoto 9.6?

Why can I not check the 'Shuffle images' box in settings of a slide show in iPhoto 9.6? All other settings I can check but this one.

    Hey Brad,
If you are unable to select the shuffle images checkbox, follow the steps in this article -
    iPhoto '11: Change slideshow settings
    Specifically -
To display slides in random order, select “Shuffle slide order.” If you don’t see this option, play the slideshow, move the pointer to make the slideshow controls appear, and then click the Settings button.

  • Setting slide show music in iPhoto doesn't change slide music in Front Row

When I try and view slide shows in Front Row, I always get the same classical music.
I have searched the internet and most suggestions tell you to change the settings in iPhoto and this will be mirrored in Front Row - but this isnt working?
Does anyone have a simple way of changing the Front Row slide show settings?
    Thanks

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You might try exporting to Quicktime and then add the resulting QT movie to iDVD and see if the timing remains intact.
Are you using the KB effect or multiple transitions in the slideshow? If not I find that I get better quality slideshows by building them in iDVD from the stills. That way I can add titles and/or comments to each slide if so desired, get the music to sync as it should (I like to add a blank, black slide a the end so the music ends in that slide). Downside: no KB effect and only one transition. Upside, better forward and backward control of the slideshow, better quality of the slides and all slides can be scaled to the TV Safe area so none of the image is lost to the TV Over-scan.

  • Slide show duration in iPhoto

Is there a way to show the duration of the slide show in iPhoto?
I have been editing a fairly big slide show, 155 photos, and I now need to exactly match the audio track. Is there a way to vew the total time of the slide show?

    hello
I too have issues with iphoto and the slideshow. I created a slideshow, selected a 7 and a half minute song and chose (fit to music) and the movie it exported was over 11 minutes long. It also was less than 400 megabytes (so obviously a reference movie as it's rougly 1.8 gigs for a bout 9 minutes or so of DV) and when imported into imovie the transistions were not rendered smoothly ( the turned pages became jaggy and the pictures dimmed right before the turn). I have a brand new emac with everything upgraded (OS,imovie, iphotoand quicktime pro) Something isn't playing fair.

  • I want to make a copy of slide show create from my own photographs and with a an audio track behind them. I have carefully followed the iDVD tutorials and burnt the result to a disc but image quality is very poor. What is wrong?

I want to make a DVD of a slide-show with an audio track behind the photographs. I have carefully followed the iDVD video tutorials but the result is far from satisfactory. The quality of the images on the resulting DVD are blurred and indistict although the original photographs are of a very high quality. Where am I going wrong? Would I have better results from a different program than the inbuilt iDVD and if so so what programs have others found to be better? I should be grateful for some expert guidance.

    Hey Falcopebo,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Looks like you have image quality issues when using iDVD to burn.
iDVD 7.0: Burned DVD has interlacing, pixelation, or image quality issues
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4078
A standard DVD made by iDVD is made to the standard DVD resolution of 720 X 480, which is smaller than most HDTVs and monitors. When expanded to fit the entire screen or monitor, the image will distort slightly due to upscaling to fit the screen or monitor.
    Have a nice day,

  • IPhoto and compression of uploads to iWeb albums and Web Galleries?

It appears it's been established that iPhoto automatically sizes uploads to Web Galleries and iWeb albums to 800x600 no matter the resolution of the original picture.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5118968#5118968
You can clumsily work around this in Web Gallery by uploading directly through the gallery upload button or via email, as discussed here.

What I'm wondering is whether there's a way to do something similar in an iWeb album? My experience is that even if I do specify the option in the photo inspector to allow Original (Full Quality) downloads from the album, the files are still heavily compressed somewhere along the line, with 2.2MB originals coming back at 650KB or so.
Can anyone shed any light on this?

    Hi.
I don't have iPhoto 08 yet, but had a similar concern in iPhoto 6. I let iWweb do it's thing and then overwrote the images that it produced.
How? I edited the photos to the way I wanted them in Photoshop or Aperture(!) and saved it out to the largest size (800x600, I believe). Then I set up an Automator action to dupe and resize the pictures to the thumbnail size. When done, I moved the files to my iDisk and put em wher they belong.
It's a bit of a hassle, but I got the quality that I wanted...also, not sure if that'll work in 08...

  • Slide show format in PSE6 for SLR and HDTV (16:9) format

I have a 16:9 monitor and I want to create slide shows using images taken from a DSLR in the 3:2 format. The images are scaled in PSE6 to the default 4:3 slide area.
When I send the slide show to a HDTV format the images are still confined to the default 4:3 box of the slide show.
Is there a possibility to change the default format for a slide show in PSE6 from 4:3 to 3:2 (DSLR format) or HDTV.
    Best Regards
    Wolfgang

It all depends on how you crop the pictures. If you're doing a 16:9 slide show, and you don't want any black edges, you'll need to use nothing but horizontal pictures in the same proportions as 16:9.
Unclick auto KB, and you can set the focal point yourself on each slide. Auto KB is a quick fix thing, for those times when you don't care about cropping and focal point. If you do care about that stuff, you'll need to set each picture with it's own KB effect, either moving in or out based on the content of the picture. Auto KB is never going to be smart enough to do that for you.

  • Seeking workaround to export slide show @ 720x480 in iPhoto 06.

As you know the largest slide show you can currently export is 480x640, is there a workarond to get a 720x480 exported Quicktime movie?
As always thank you for reading and replying to my post,
    Sebastian

Don't you mean 720 x 540? There are two possibilities. One is to create the slideshow in iMovie and use it's export options. The other is to use Quicktime Pro and re-scale it to the larger size in the QT Player and then do a save as to a new a self contained file. You might lose some quality that way, however.

  • Can anyone suggest a way to compress slide shows done in iPhoto

I have a slide show that about 49 megs and would like to email it...have never dome compression so looking for advice that allows me to send across platforms..thanks in advance

Forget about emailing a slideshow. To get one to a size less than 5 or so MB you will end up with an image about the size of a postage stamp. Slideshows are just not suitable for emailing.
Alternatives: Upload the file somewhere and send a link to the person you want to see it. This can include video sharing sites like vimeo or youtube, or file sending sits like YouSendIt or MegaUpload

  • IWeb and Web Gallery

what is the difference between iWeb and WebGallery in iphoto. I am getting ready to revamp my old mac website and don't want to mess it all up.
Can I use them both together???

iWeb is an application for building websites.
A web gallery published from iPhoto is purely for publishing photos.
You can link to a web gallery from your iWeb built website or use the web gallery widget in iWeb to do this.

  • IPhone problem with iPhoto 08 and Web Gallery 08

I have created web photo galleries in iPhoto 08. Then I have opened iWeb08 and created a page an added a web gallery widget for each of the galleries on this page, everything works fine. Now I fire up the iPhone and go to my iWeb page where the widgets are located.
The problem is the web gallery widget appears on the iPhone screen as a blue cube with a question mark on two sides and some round grey circles on top. I can not access the galleries from iPhone. Are these cubes a representation for some program that the iPhone can't open? Any help is appreciated.

I'd post your question in the iPhone forum because it seems to be an iPhone issue rather than an iPhoto one.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
